3.2 root for all Transformers? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am in the market for my first tablet and I am leaning on either the Transformer or the GTab 10.1. The only thing holding me back is being about to root the Transformer, I do like to root my android devices and put new roms and tweak them. I have read that only the B60 can be rooted anything later cant.
Today I seen this on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yktPHyOPMA
Is this a root for all Transformers running 3.2?

Would be nice BUT a) nothing mentioned about the bootloader, the HC Version doesn't really matter and b) some files like transformerrootDE_84411.zip are really old.

nothing new, old sbk keys used

[Q] How to revert to a stock build?

Hey guys, I need to revert to a stock US build. I tried to do so by downloading US firmware from ASUS and putting it on the sdcard. The Transformer finds the file but when it restarts to install, it stays stuck in the boot screen.
Is it because I have clockwork recovery installed? currently I am runnng prime 1.6 with netformer 1.5. I tried to do the update under a rooted 8.4.4.5, not under prime.
I have not done it but I think you will have to NVFLASH it...
I'd like to know this as well, I have my TF for sale and a newbie buyer might want to have the stock OS so they can get OTA updates from Asus. Has anyone documented the process to go back to stock on the TF?

A little off topic...why are you selling?
I have both the TF and Tab 10.1 and after playing with both of them for a week the beautiful screen and slim design of the Tab won my heart over the functional advantages of the TF (keyboard and SD card slot). Plus Samsung's just announced slim bluetooth keyboard/case for the Tab sealed the decision for me.
I also have an Ipad and finally came to the realization that I was nuts for having 3 tablets.
Thanks for the response. I actually had the Samsung, Acer and Asus all in hand...I loved the Samsung but couldn't get past not having any memory expansion. The Acer had all the great ports but a poor screen relative to the others.
Hey there, new guy here.
I have read alot and done most by myself like a big kid... lol
But the last step which will be to install custom rom is missing one little detail, how to revert back to stock? I like to be prepared before making any steps. I searched about the subject but best result lead to this thread with no answers yet.
thanks for anyone's time.

3.2 & Apps Help/Suggestions

Alright, I bought my Motorola Xoom from Futurshop here in Ottawa (Canada) quite awhile ago. Still running the original 3.0.1 firmware. A couple months ago I believe many sites said they were pushing out the new updates to us, including SDCard support.
Nothing came to me, oh and now there is 3.2 that got pushed out. Still nothing. Quite a stupid company.
Anyways, I am tired of hating my XOOM.
Looking for the quickest and easiest tutorial on how to get my Canadian 3.0.1 XOOM up to 3.2.
Also, wondering if there is a list of Honeycomb apps, best things we can do with honeycomb/rooting/modding yet....anything else I should know.
Thanks. And yes I searched the forums. Not always easy to find exactly what you are looking for.
What Xooms do you Canadians get?? On the box it says " Xoom (MZ6**)"
Mine for example is a MZ601...
I wonder as it could be a Generic Northern US version, or a EURO....and the Model number also helps us identify whether it is a WiFi only or 3G/UMTS...
Oh right sorry forgot about that.
It's the WiFi only version, MZ604
Well I do KNOW that you can use the ROM from THIS THREAD but you will need to root first and the MZ604 WiFi Only does have a canadian specific version BUT I am unsure as to how you would root.
From memory, the WiFi only Xooms are ALL Identical in terms of Hardware, it is just those Xooms with 3G/UMTS capabilities that have hardware differences. I am going to go out on a limb and say you can follow ANY of the WiFi only guides....BUT BEFORE YOU DO...someone else may have to confirm that for me
Still have not found a good tutorial for 3.0.1 to 3.1.
Everything seems to be 3.1 to 3.2 or something else.
Help. Thanks.

I think only the US WiFi and 3G/4G versions have the 3.2 update. Just a guess.
My Xoom (i think the build/model number is HTJ85B? I am not really sure cause i can't find any info to where to look... but anywho) I had bought my Xoom Wi-fi only tablet from Amazon.com and updated it to 3.2. I rooted it using this tutorial -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1170760 -- And I got Super User without flashing new ROMs and kernels. It took me a few days (due to insomnia not allowing me to read the directions correctly so I became easily frustrated) but after i figured out the wrong line of code (Went into adb shell and then did adb devices, not the other way around was my mistake) everything was straight forward. Follow every line to a T and you should be able to get root and flash it in theory...
To ask, have you tried to go to "About Tablet" and clicking "System Updates"? I had to do it the first time to get my update pushed through on Wi-FI to 3.2.

Yes, I have a Canadian MZ604 and you can follow the wifi guides, they root the same
Unlock, root and push CWM 3.2
With that you can install hammerhead rom and tachi kernel

Rooting the Asus Transformer.

Alright, so i have two brand new asus transformers both on old 3.1 versions of honeycomb so i know they are both rootable. (us versions i assume) now some are saying we should use the razorclaw method by upgrading then using it but some people are having terrible results doing that because its upgrading them to unrootable firmwire. (i think .18 rather than .13). others are saying use the nvflash but that seems dated. so which method should we use? I'd be very annoyed if i upgraded then i couldnt root. also has the market been fixed so we could watch movies and download books even though we are rooted? or is it still not going to let us watch or read them?

ASUS EEE Transformer TF101

Hello,
First post from me and first question!
I am interested in buying an EEE Transformer TF101 with docking station but i want to install a different OS like a linux distro with Plasma active. I heard that some modelas of the TF101 have locked BOOTLOADERS so i will not be able to change OS.
Do you know if the Asus TF101-1B141A has a locked bootloader? How can i unlock it?
Also i was thinking of buying the expensive EEE Transformer TF201 but here in Greece they sell it seperate from the docking station
What's your opinion?
Hey, welcome!
TF201 is still kind of buggy, but I leave it up to you to make your own decisions..but there are threads devoted to comparing the two and whether owners would rather have one or the other..
As far as the bootloader, you have to know the specific serial number of the unit, which starts with a number like this B70KAS9835
The B70 part is what you need to look at (I am going out on a limb, considering new models are Cxx that the B is likely the year or production run, and the number after is month manufactured?? I could be wrong, but B60 definitely came before B70, which came before B80, which came before C10, and so on)
If it is B60 or less, it is what is called SBK1 (secure boot key, version 1), where as B70s are hit and miss (mine is SBK1 I think, but others have had SBK2 B70s). SBK2 has not been unlocked, basically what it means is if you have SBK1 you can use a tool called NVFlash to flash the internal memory and factory restore a bricked tablet. If it is SBK2, and you brick it, you cannot use NVFlash to restore it. You can, however, still root and install alternate OS on SBK2 tabs, it is just at a risk if you brick it, it is unrecoverable (as of now, but maybe fixable in the future).
As for the versions of Linux that you can run, as far as I know ubuntu is available, though I don't know how many of it's functions are fully implemented, I imagine there has to be some limitations versus a laptop PC, as the tablet hardware is geared to run android specifically, anything outside of that is a coin toss..but since android is linux-based, it makes it pretty easy to install linux from what I understand (easy, as compared to installing it on say an ipad)
thanks for the help!
So i am searching for a B70 with SBK1 in order to be sure that everything will be ok !
i found that the serial number of the model i looked to buy starts from
B80
Have i any chances to format it and install another OS ?
Must i look for a TF201 ?
NVFlash can not be used with B80s. You will still be able to flash roms like Revolver, but you will not be able to flash Ubuntu.
It will be alot more difficult to return to stock with a B80 than a device with a lower serial number.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Hello,
I finally bought it and its Serial Number is B80KAS077058.
Is there anything i can do in order to chroot it or unlock it?

Q: TF-101 vs TF300 rooting / netflix, etc..

I had a TF-101 rooted with 3.1 with recommendations from this forum. I could still run Netflix on it and watch my interlaced avi movies with moboplayer without problems.
Then i thought to upgrade to TF300 and pass on the old transformer to a family member. Then i learned with the TF300 running ice cream sandwich that i could not root and still watch netflix, and all media players like moboplayer/mx player crash periodically or do not do deinterlacing (bs player). So i thought o pass on the TF300 and keep the more useful TF-101. And then the TF-101 was lost on a flight (stolen from baggage).
So now i wonder what to do:
Is there any workaround for netflix on rooted TF300 ?
If i am going to buy another TF-101, i fear that it will come with 4.0, Back in 2010, when i rooted it, it was said that you could not root a TF101 from 4.0. So, what do i need to watch out for if i am going to buy another TF-101 that i want to get rooted ?
Thanks!
Sounds like you've been away for a while. You need to read up a little.
You can root the TF101 up to the latest firmware.
Thanks
Yes, have been away quite a whilte. Once i had the 101 rooted and set up with everything i was happy. And the TF300 is fairly recent. It also seems as if it possible to root a TF300 without unlocking, which hopefully should allow to keep Netflix running, or at least i can try and if it doesn't work, return it.
What i am mostly puzzled about though is why all these video player apps (moboplayer,...) do seem to crash/stop on my files whereas this never happened with TF101. I guess i have to investigate more forums for that problem *sigh*. One would have hoped that things got better with TF101->TF300 and 3.1 -> 4.0, but unfortunately, not so much *sigh*.
