I obtained a Samsung Galaxy S Showcase for Cristmas but as anyone that knows a cellular south phone right out the box sucks and does not live up to the full potential i had the motorola droid wich was the Milestone for CSouth now reading through google and forums people are saying the facinate ones work and the vibriant ones work on top of that i forgot the steps and programs used to root and run rom manager so if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to sucssesfully root this SAMSUNG GALAXY S SHOWCASE FOR CELLULARSOUTH would be much apprecheated .
Also for the rom manager i found that chevyno1 rom wich gives you simply stunning i beleave the newest version is 8.8 was prolly the best rom in the rom manager so far has anyone tried to install that one there galaxy and how is it running.
Thank You for Your Time and Please Feel Free To Call If you Do not Feel like typing alll the step 228-697-7467
Z4root in the market works fine for getting root. It will even unroot for you. I haven't tried a rom manager or flashed any other firmware yet. So far I am just watching the forums here waiting to here of other Cellular South Showcase owners who have success with a custom rom. Please let us know if you find something good that works.

I've got a showcase rooted with z4root and running the voodoo 5 lagfix that can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=871948
I noticed an immediate performance boost after installation, been working great and it's been that way for two or three weeks now. I did a benchmark with Quadrant Standard and it topped out at over 1700.

Can you please instruct me on how to find z4root in the market... I have searched for it dozens of times and it keeps saying 'unable to find, make sure you typed the name correctly.'
:-( very unhappy camper here, as I've been trying to root my Showcase for almost a month now and can't find that app...
you can try http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747598
Just google Z4Root via a web browser (pc or phone). Download it and transfer it to the root of sd card. Then navigate to it through phone and launch. I will take a little while to complete so make sure you have a good charge and some patience. After 5-10 minutes your phone will reboot and it will be done.
Rooting Samsung Galaxy S Showcase
I just got my showcase yesterday and I would like to root it.
I just have a couple of quesions:
If I use Z4root, is it safe? Will Android 2.1 still be on it whenever it finishes?
Will it be completely blank, free of bloatware? This will be my first time rooting
and I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit nervous. I don't want to brick my phone
or mess it up in any way, I just want all the bloatware gone and to be able to
use my phone to its fullest extent.
Thank you!
I have rooted/Rom My showcase
I have rooted my phone using z4. I am running the pick N pack 3 rom.
It was not terrible difficult to do if you have done other phones in the past.
Rooting your phone does not wipe out any software or change out your rom image. It strictly allows applications to execute with higher privileges.
It will let you run things like "Wireless Tether for root user" . You will however need those elevated privileged to be able to replace the rom image on your phone.
I updated my phone to 2.2 so i can use Google Voice Actions. I have had it on many of my phones in the past and missed it. After upgrading my phone, the Google voice actions has a bug. I am unable to call or send text using voice actions. It seems voice actions will not see the last name in my contacts. I can not tell if this is an error with my Google account or on my phone.
I got my rom Image from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970331 but it seems it has been taken down since then.
I do hear that Cellular South is coming out with the 2.2 update. They have been telling me "in a few weeks" since mid Feb. It is getting VERY frustrating. I asked them again yesterday and now they are saying the end of April. Anyway, I hope this helps guys.
Yes z4root...download app.... v...i'll give details...
Download App- Amazon app store...once downloaded search for..Z4root and bingo...Enjoy the Z4root!
Can someone please explain what just happended, thanks!
I bought a new Wifi only, 32G xoom from the US and had it shipped to me here in Sweden. I booted it, configured timezone etc and went into the settings. Naturally it showed version 3.0.1. I also configurred a wifi ap and added my google account in order to install some apps from Market.
After a while I got a popup that the device had an update and needed a reboot. I did so and after a couple of minutes I was back online again. And now the version showed 3.1.
What make me puzzled is how the update was triggered OTA since I dont have any operator here in Sweden that push them via 3G. Does Motorola centrally push updates over Wifi? After all I have read about the difficulty to get the 3.1 upgrade, this was certainly good news, but very unexpected.
Can someone please explain, thanks
Moto does not push the udate, but google does. It is an internet process and not depending on the way you access it. US devices received the update weeks ago.
Non us devices are still waiting as their updates have to come from Moto.
Hdtvpower
US models get the update via wifi as soon as they hit the internet. Doesn't matter where they are. That is why I made sure to import an American version.

That was exactly what I suspected. Now I only need to find a EU language pack so that I can convert the tablet to Swedish. I assume that this will not void the US "branding" of the device (for future updates). Is that true?
As it's a US Xoom you should be able to use the language pack from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1083612

Yes I found that thread, but the given method require SD card support. My device does not recognize the 8GB card that I inserted. Arrgggghhhh.
Ah, yeah you'd need to root in order to use that pack. Don't know of any other way though, sorry.

Yup, that was the intention. I now understand that I need to root, install cwm and then flash the langpack from recovery. But that's not all. The current kernel does not support external sd cards, so first I need to flash a kernel with sd support. A whole lot of work for getting Swedish menus. I think that I will simply wait and see.
Honestly its not that time consuming to unlock and root. I bought my xoom a few weeks ago, and about a half hour after I took it out of the box it was running brd's Tiamat kernel and good to go. Just be sure to read everything about unlocking/rooting before you do. It's actually one of the easiest devices I've ever rooted.

Do you think that you can hand-hold me through the process? If so, I do have a US Wifi only device that has been automagically updated to 3.1 (by Google I guess).
I would like to end up with a 3.1, a Swedish interface and a working SD card slot. I dont really care about root on this one, unless its needed through the process. And I also want to have a device that can continue to recieve updates OTA (if possible). Is this to ask for too much ?
So if you feel inclinded, can you help with a step by step guide? I am not a novice, but the Xoom is new to me. I have been playing with many different roms on my SGS for almost a year, so the concepts of rooting and CWM is far from new to me.
The Carrier for my phones has replaced my Sprint LG Optimus S™, (REFURBISHED); the previous one that went bad was rooted for $29.95 back in late August, and I went back to those people to get this one rooted, and told them it was a replacement for the one they had already rooted, and they wanted me to pay again because they said this is a "different device". I just use this phone as a backup for my Coolpad Quattro II 4G 801ES I purchased last Month, and am not interested in paying another fee for this;
I know that firmware updates have included patches to stop the phones out there from being "rooted", so since this phone, though refurbished, came out in 2010, I need to know if there is/are any util(s)/app(s) that is/are current that can root this device (since it is old now, I realize that might not be anything out there, besides those people who charge to do it, and use remote access to do it). The specs are as follows:
Manufacturer: LGE
Model: LS670
Version: ZVJ.47B67B46
Android Version: 2.3.3 (GingerBread)
GingerBreak (v1.2) did not work, and z4root does not seem to be working either, as it makes things freeze up, and I really thought SuperOneClick (v2.3.3.0) would work, but when it reaches a certain point,
"... Step #7 WaitForDevice",
it stops there and goes not further ... I even updated the adb files, and still no go; SRSRoot did not work either, UI tried both "methods", SmartRoot & All Methods;
I also tried Towel Root, and that did not work either
I would like to have a hold of something that would work on Linux Systems, or the phone itself, however, I do have Windows 8 on my Laptop, and can use that if needed. I would also would like the opportunity of unrooting it in case I have to send it back to … my fortune with Smart Phone Devices has not been that great in the past few months; I even have to send the newly purchased Coolpad Quattro II 801ES to the distributor for I-Wireless.
Thanks,
Cliff
I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can grab GingerBreak v1.3, because the one I tried was v1.2, and according to a Video I watched, I need to use v1.3 of GingerBreak (and not v1.2) for Android 2.3.3;
It appears to be a daunting task to try and locate this specific version on the Internet via a Google Search ... some links are broken, some have removed v1.3 (yet left v1.2 available), I click on links that several windows pop-up, etc. and I cannot seem to manage to get a copy of GingerBreak v1.3, and it seems a never-ending journey trying to grab a hold of a copy.
Well, who knew a few years ago, that a few years later, there where going to be refurbished phones released for purchase in 2014 with Android 2.3.3, for example, by a Company like Kroger Stores, and it's I-Wireless online site ...

This here: have you tried different USB cables? enable usb debugging and get to Adb in terminal (assuming you have windows) and type ADB Devices, if some numbers pop up then it should be good. try re installing superoneclick and use on a different computer.
i dont think a gingerbreak had a v1.3 sotry using z4root.

Thanks for sharing ... I did run the adb devices command and it does show a 14 characters sequence of numbers and letters and then the word "device".
I do have the USB Debugging on (actually always do, for the most part). Though, I have never seen any instructions on whether USB Storage should be ON or OFF.
While I have a Desktop and Laptop computer, I only have access to Windows (8, a pre-installed edition) only my Laptop computer ... Windows XP is indeed on the Desktop computer, I have not been able to access it for a few years now (could be because of so many hardware changes made to the computer since I got that copy of Windows XP, and now it does not think it's a legit copy[?]). In the Apartment Complex I live in, non-Windows platforms are usually the ones the tenants use (Linux ones and FreeBSD).
As I mentioned in the first post, z4root will not work, and I'll add it really messed up things on the phone, it made it slag and slow, some programs froze up, others would come up with a white or black screen and be stuck on it until I rebooted the phone.
As for GingerBreak v1.3, it exists, (or did in the past, e.g. in 2011?); now I can't attest as to whether it's by the same author(s) as the previous versions, but one thing I been told (via YouTube Video & Web Pages) is that GingerBreak v1.2 will not work on GingerBread 2.3.3, GingerBreak v1.3 must be the one to use;
As for GingerBreak, in general, included in the instructions is that the SD Card needs to be "formatted", but what is not made clear, is to whether the "formatted" can have files/directories on it, or whether it should be completely empty and "formatted" ... won't be a problem either way, just need the right version of GingerBreak that worked on GingerBread 2.3.3 in the past.

Sorry about that i sware i saw you said z4root but couldnt find it and posted z4 anyway XD
as for the sdcard problem, if you do format it and plug it into your android phone, android OS (or the apps on the device) already put folders/files on the sdcard so thats no problem if they are there. as for v1.3, im not sure if it exists, it might but i could not find it. you can try to ask chainfire himself here on XDA. im sure v1.2 should work on 2.3.3. So we are trying to root your LG optimus right? im sorry i was a little confused reading it haha, you described it fine but was not sure which device you were talking about at times. i own a LG optimus V (Virgin mobile variant same thing.) and it was the best damn phone i have ever had!
i believe also windows 8 might be a problem, windows 8 sucks for development, if you can use xp or 7, that would be great, just ask a friend maybe.

I, as well as most people, agree that Windows XP & 7 is better than 8, but the Laptop was a birthday present. The "One Click Root" people rooted it (via remote) through that Windows 8, I don't mind donating, but the phone had to be replaced, and they wanted another pay again (after 6 weeks of already paying for the phone that was replaced);
The phone is a Sprint LG Optimus S™ (so just as the "V" for the one you had was for Virgin Mobiles, I guess the "S" for mine means Sprint, since they are the ones Kroger's I-Wireless uses for accessing Towers, per their agreements with Sprint). It's really just a "backup/secondary" phone now that I bought a Coolpad Quattro 4G 801ES, but I want the Optimus rooted to be able to move what apps I can to SD Card;
I noticed that the "One Click Root" people added some files onto the Windows 8 system, in the folders named:
"Minimal ADB and Fastboot",
"LG Electronics",
and maybe,
"Mozilla Maintenance Service" (the date of the Folder is close to the previous 2 mentioned folders).
I tried GingerBreak v1.2, and it did not work ... maybe I-Wireless or someone else built a firmware patch to stop it from working?
I'm aware that chainfire is here ... was going to see if I have to contact him as a last resort, since he seems so busy that it has made me wonder if he sleeps at all, or very little

since we are talking about the optimus S, it should be incredibly easy to root, my optimus v never got past android 2.2.1 and i was able to root it with gingerbreak, but im reading this here http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg...ls670zvd-zvh-100-automated-zvj-automated.html and it looks like you might have to downgrade first. do you also have a sdcard inserted? also Lg drivers? once you get rooted i will point you in the right direction. also (ie ZV8, ZV9, ZVC, ZVD) is a reference to what firmware you are on, it would be awesome to tell me what you have first and ill tell you want todo if you dont understand that guide.

My Sprint LG Optimus S™ LS670 phone has ZVJ, Android 2.3.3 ... I'm a member of Android Central and am acquainted with the page you referred me to (it's been loaded up in my web browser for some time now) ... it has does have me bouncing all over the place ... "if... then click here", "if... then click here", and so on. I'm just going to have to keep studying the pages until I get the order of things to do (like the downgrading it and you mention), unless you have an easier way in mind, but I'm going to have to wait a few days since I'm going to the hospital tomorrow and have a procedure done for a few hours;
Yes, I have the microSD (2gb) card that came with the phone, but as for the LG drivers, I don't know, but oneclickroot.com did install an "LG Electronics" into my Windows System, so perhaps I can run a program that will install those drivers[?]. The Optimus is already giving the notification that it is running low on space, and this was after attempting to update just the current default programs ... I guess they are larger than the default programs that came out on it back in 2010; one example, is that the "Android Market" was upgraded to "Google Play".
Fortunately, this is just a backup/secondary phone ... the Coolpad Quattro II 4G 801ES is my primary phone, and even it, has to be sent back to be fixed or replaced.
I'll be back

Thanks for the thoughts; the procedure went fine, but the doc found some tears (pronounced "tares") in my lungs and had me do a CT Scan the other day, and I haven't heard about that yet (I've been having "air hunger" (aka "shortness of breath") episodes for a very long time now).
Anyway, I need to send my Coolpad off to get it fixed or replaced, and I so need that Sprint LG Optimus S™ LS670 rooted, since I'll have to use it during the interim, and I want to be able to move the apps that can be moved to the SD Card ... even then, I'll still get "insufficient internal space" messages ... interesting that my Coolpad (not rooted) lets me move apps that the Optimus wouldn't, even rooted. That Optimus really did not need to be replaced (the tech support forgot to have me enter the phone number and MIN). I have discovered that Gingerbreak (versions 1.0, 1.1, and 1,2) cannot root Android 2.3.3;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194689
It is interesting to note that oneclickroot.com easily rooted it, so I know somehow, it can be rooted. The Web Page you referred me to seems complex for me, because it requires bouncing around hither and thither ... I don't mind doing the downgrade (though I'm not sure if oneclickroot.com did that or not[?]), it would be nice if there was one post (albeit there would be some redundancy to the other posts) that was specific for those with ZVJ firmware.
I see a DONATE TO ME on your posts. What do you distribute? BTW, I'm following you on Twitter now (I'm HodgesCliff) and Google+ (I'm Clifton Hodges there). I'll be happy to make a payment/donation to whoever can get, or has something that will root this phone for me, and a separate payment/donation when I am satisfied that Coolpad is functioning properly, and get it rooted ... it's just that oneclickroot.com wanted me to pay again for a phone that was a replacement (as already noted, not needed) for one they already rooted only a few weeks earlier; thus, I will not be having them root my Coolpad, so they may have lost $29.95 there, if I do everdecide to get the Coolpad rooted.
I'll see if I can get the LG Drivers installed, assuming that is why oneclickroot.com installed a "LG Electronics" folder of files.
Thanks,
Cliff

I'll see if I can get the LG Drivers installed, assuming that is why oneclickroot.com installed a "LG Electronics" folder of files.
Thanks,
Cliff

Thansk, I really appreciate it ... As mentioned before, oneclickroot had installed some files on the Windows (8) Platform of my laptop, and one of those paths is
..\LG Electronics\LG United Mobile Driver
and there are some executables, "InstallUSB.exe", "InstallUSB9x.exe", and "InstallUSB64.exe", (the complimentary "UninstallUSB*.exe" files are there too), and I tried the "InstallUSB.exe" (at least), while my Optimus was plugged into it (with and without USB Strorage ON), and I don't know if that installed anything on the phone or not, but if it did, maybe some of these other programs will work now, we shall see ... there are 2 Virtual Driver files there ... VCOMM.VXD and Wdmmdmld.vxd.
Hooray!!!! Finally found a way to get it rooted ... No WINDOWS Platform need either
The Instructions (including the apk files to download) are at:
http://8coolgeek.blogspot.com/2014/09/simplest-way-to-root-your-android.html
The catch is here that it appears the you have to download "Superuser", well chainfire's "SuperSU" did not work for me, though I only tried once. Anyway, I suspect the "Pook Debug" apk might get booted off of Google's Play's Store once they find out this is a sneaked in program for the use of another program, but I imagine that if that happens, it will still be available elsewhere.
Trozzul, thank you so much for the efforts, I really appreciate that :good:
I'm a happy camper now ... I can't decide to transfer my files from the small 2GB card (which the space is now low) onto my 32gb which I was using for my main/primary Coolpad Quattro II 4G 801ES Smart Phone that has been sent off to be straighten up or replaced, or just go out and buy another larger SD Card.

NOW ROOTED
Hi all,
Just bought a tablet off amazon not too long ago, Kingpad K70 (tabletexpress is the company), and I have been trying to find a way to root it. I have tried the various methods like Chainfire, Towelroot, and others, but still unable to. It is running kitkat 4.4.4, says model number is as KINGPAD K70. Any insight or assistance would be great! I also have stock .img file from company, as version on website did not work.
Thanks all,

Try rooting with the following android apps.
Root Master
z4root
Universal Androot
Easy rooting toolkit
Framaroot
Thanks for your quick reply!
I tried all of the .apk files with no success so far but soon I will try the last one and update!
Well tried last one (root toolkit) on two different computers, both just waiting for device, Windows 8 had some compatibility issues, and my desktop, windows 7 automatically reinstalls the driver, and won't allow me to update to ADB device oddly.
Any insights?
Thanks
Same problem
I got the k70 with the rk3128 and NEED TO ROOT as well. I asked the customer service people at tabletexpress, and they weren't much help. I bought it off of amazon, and the title said it was compatible with 3d games... and the lie detector test determined, THAT WAS A LIE !!! no real racing, no dead trigger, no fast and furious, no temple run of any kind. I was lied to. The tablet is a POS to me, but could be better if I could root it. I googled til my brain was all googled out and found NOTHING. So now my only option it to complain and bother people here, amazon, and the customer service at TabletExpress for selling me such a POS tablet:good:
Forgot to update! Use kingo root, took a while but worked, and then I just installed rom toolbox and deleted kingos bs. Still don't like their Android edit, so if you find a workaround for cfw let me know!

updated: okay, I downloaded kingoroot on my computer. I hooked it up. Had the usb debugging on. wifi is on. I had it recognize the tablet once and it gave me the options to unroot and reroot. I chose reroot. it failed. So im trying to go again, but this time to unroot, then root, however i cannot get it to connect anymore, it keeps saying the tablet is offline! So im pretty sure im missin somethin here.... its sayin its offline, and i read that im supposed to "tick always allow from this computer" to avoid this problem. where would i find this prompt? how do i get to it? also, its not rooted[i checked with root checker] i dunno why it gave me the options unroot/reroot
SUCCESS!!

:good::good: for you. I got around the "offline" thing by deleting the kingoroot app off the tablet, then proceeding normally. I did the unroot, but it failed, however it did remove some stuff that made my first reroot fail. So after I unrooted and failed. I rebooted the tablet, deleted the kingoroot app again, and proceeded to reroot. This time the reroot worked!! thank you angrynapkinz:good::good: hey, one more question, what apps to you recommend for this tablet. maybe something for the battery and the overheating. I also couldnt figure out how to play 3d games on it without it crashing
Try China Devices
is cwf custom firmware? Im not that experienced with flashing new ROMs, and it seems that most people here are about the brand name stuff. I was googling cfw's and found nothing except for this forum website that "specializes" in chinese tablets like the kingpad/dragontouch (pretty sure theyre all the same) i think the webmaster makes cfw's or if he doesn't, he'll find out. Thanks again for the root help:good:
Hey harlow, yea I meant custom firmware, the KitKat that they have loaded is obviously rooted previously, you'll notice the more you use it. I installed xposed installer and root browser's etc on it for battery monitoring and all, malwarebytes keeps picking up malware loaded into the tablet and every time I delete. It's reinstalled upon reboot so that's why I'm trying to figure out rom reflashing/cfw options. Still trying to figure out what to add and what not though so take your pick and let me know also what seems to work. I went search and found its been mix and match from forums.

Yeah the kitKat they got on there is no comparison to the OG one on my cheap ass LG L70. I did malwarebytes and avast and found nothing on it so i guess im lucky. Im using Nova Launcher because it looks nicer and functions better. And theres this thing in the Google Play store called Root Booster. idk if you heard of it but you can set your tablet onto one of three modes: Speed, Battery, and Stock. Im on Speed right now, and it boosted the RAM about 50mbs. (I still cant play real racing on it tho) Have you taken the back off yet??? I cant figure it out!! I wanna replace the battery with something with bigger nuts... The stock one is garbage. I can squeeze about 5 hours out of it. Maybe ill glue on some heat sinks onto the chips, it gets really hot when im netflixin. So ill keep an eye out for the cfws. Have you tried reflashing with the stock one they got on tabletexpress? i havnt tried that, but maybe it wont have malware on it?
Yea it sucks, haven't found an alternative yet and still trying to figure this thing out. I had to flash one they emailed me cause the site one didn't work previously. The malware is like coudw.a or cloudsservice.apk every reboot, and also having a constant 115b up and download. No I haven't tried any games yet, or tried to open it up but I might do that, as I'm getting about the same battery wise.

I think the tablet would work good as a playstation or rom player. I have yet to put my playstation games on it and also connect a ps3 controller to it. busy with differential equations and maplestory... I found a battery on aliexpress with about double the capacity. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/The-...ery-For-7-8-9-inch-tablet-PC/32213974542.html ...idk if itll fit tho. its a little thicker and longer on one side.... if it dont fit... ill make it fit > also, another app to boost the RAM is SmartBooster. I got a little over 200mb ram. yeah, ill update you when i find out other tips and shjt
Need PC/windoze to root.
"Root Android without PC," an info app on GP, indicates that phones/tablets with a kernel newer than 1/3/2014 can't be rooted w/o a PC. Framaroot doesn't work, it also fingers Kingo as possible solution. Kingo itself indicates that it's best for phones. I hate Windoze, but here goes.....
(Weeks ago, I saw something about invoking Linux instead--maybe it was a dream: Perhaps some of my brain cells exploded--no doubt due to "sprinting" cups at keg parties and then passing out long ago!)
I'm rating this thread a 3--still somewhat murky, without clear procedure to solution.
Thread is dead.
From rbrband57. This endeavor seems dead.
I still believe that replacing software/firmware is the key to getting the K70 to run better--the hardware likely is pretty good. I've been able to disable PRC bloatware, via some helpful cleanup software from GP. I'd like to uninstall. The loader at cold boot takes forever--I'd like to crucify that.
I'll reinstall kingoroot yet again, but I still don't know how to proceed further. Root confirm software says then rooted, but can't get SuperSu on--which might indicate true root, after all. Still not much info online.
My experience with rooting in the past was with a cheapo Icecream Polaroid 4.3" screen device from Big Lots: Full step-by-step procedure in one site, etc. Put a valid, new, upgraded .apk ROM on. Nothing can help the underpowered much, though--single core, 1GHz, perhaps, and 512MB sys mem.. GP worked sporadically afterwards--not really very well. Sold it to a guy in CA for his kid's Xmas last year.
Thanks for trying--Amazon no longer offers--K77, instead. Probably pretty much identical--hated, as well.
