So I can get OTA updates but it says install failed when it tries to install them, is this due to root? If not, do I take it in since it's on a stock ROM (durrrrr) because I got tired of none of the custom ROMs working worth 2 craps?
Second, I have a partial wakelock that's keeping my phone at 100MHz and it's called Managewakelock: Partial in BBS. Anyone know what the heck that is?
Wakelock
I cant help with the update fail. but the process thats keeping the phone awake is Hancent SMS or any other sms popup app you may have installed.

Hi,
I've got a magic from TIM but i'm leaving in belgium. I'm running MyHero 2.0.5
By two times, my handset requested me to reboot my phone for a 'system update'. Both attempt failed.
The phone reboots then an icon representing a package update then a a failure sign. The only way to get back the phone was to remove the battery.
My question:
Where can i find the package that android tries to install....is there a log somewhere where the failure is reported ?
Thanks
Ced
If you're running a custom rom and trying to install an OTA it isn't going to work. The OTA is only compatible with the stock OS. If you have root and manage to get an OTA to install then you will lose it. I'd say to just ignore the updates. If your phone is working the way you want it then I would leave it as is. If you want anything different then you'll need to flash something!
Hi,
A while back I rooted and unlocked using clockwork recovery and installed bigxie_magurTA_JRO03C-signed.zip
All was good for a while until the last month where I continually receive notification to update to 4.1.2
when I choose install, it attempts to reboot and on the recovery mode, I attempt to run the /sdcard/update.zip and it fails due to signature verification failure.
When I disable the signature verification, it states it cannot open the update file as if it is corrupt or not there,
I then tried to put on cyanogen mod, and when that loaded, I could not enter in my gmail profile info.
I then installed gapps on the next attempt to install cyanogen mod 10 and although more apps (google play app) was listed, still could not enter my gmail info anywhere
i have gone back to the 4.1.1 install I mentioned earlier, and it is running fine, but I am still prompted to update, which fails every single time.
Any suggestions on how to update this, I would be happy to go with cyanogen mod, but no idea really where to start.
I searched for the same error messages I was getting, and found a few posts but not solutions or recommendations,
Also, is this going to happen for every single update from this point on since rooting and unlocking the phone? i would prefer to give up more app control if going back to stock builds means not having to give up this much time for every update.
Thanks to anyone that can help.
Got a notification this morning that there was a new update available for KitKat. I do not know what the update is as I postponed it. I am currently running KitKat 4.4.2 Kernel version 3.4.0. The build is D80020c. I am rooted. I have no other information except that it shows that an update is pending but it will not tell me what the update is and I do not know where to find out what it is.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? I am concerned because the last time an update rolled out, it soft bricked my rooted phone.
I spoke with tech support at AT&T and they claim that they do not know what it is and suggested that I call LG for an answer.....

Don't install it, it jacked up my phone. I was running the rooted mixed partition D80020c and I can't boot or get into download mode now. All I get it a constant reboot back to recovery. Cannot install another ROM, cannot restore a backup. My daughter was playing with my phone and pushed to continue with the install and now I'm trying to unscrew it.

Is there any way to force a not install or deny it? The only option I have is to postpone the install and after 4 hours, it will run again and continue to run every 4 hours unless I find a way to break the cycle. How do I force a no install option?
That is what happened to me last time with the "q" update. I postponed the install (no option to not take it) and it installed itself after 4 hours when I left my phone on one night. I woke up to a bricked phone.....

I don't know how to permanently disable the update, but I'm sure there's a way. As info, I was able to easily fix my phone with the help of this thread posted by @thecubed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696. I didn't read it all, but this might be what disables the update.
I'm not rooted. I took the latest update and all is fine. It's google+ fixes and Google wallet support. It actually let me set up tap & pay! I'll have to go somewhere to try it out.

I got the notification too but figured that it would probably screw things up since I'm rooted and running TWRP so I did a little searching and came across this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50454408&postcount=3 . It's been a few hours since I changed the setting and haven't seen the update notification again although AT&T pushed the update into CACHE/FOTA sometime this morning.
Well scratch that, the notification just came back. I'll try freezing it now.
Well if rooted just use TB to freeze software update. I am also running a mixed partition D80020c. I am on Straight Talk AT&T. Before rooting I tried taking the official OTA of KitKat but for some reason you can't enter an APN type so I couldn't get or send MMS. So I flashed back to the D firmware, rooted, added custom recovery, entered the APN type and then flashed the modified C firmware. You could also use Root Freezer instead of Titanium Backup to freeze
My phone is rooted but I never installed another rom. I'm still using the one that game with the phone. My phone now wants to install the update and keeps giving me annoying pop-ups. When I try to install the update it always fails. I hate these pop-ups. So how do I update the phone or at least turn those pop-ups off?
Thank you!
So I'm currently running optipop 5.0.2 and google is trying to push an ota update. I have declined but it still is appearing in my notifications and is downloading in the background. I hadn't noticed it was downloading until my phone alerted my that I had used 3gb in the past 2 days. Is there a way I can stop it from downloading/disable it? I've read similar posts and I haven't really seen a way to stop the wakelock/downloading,just the notification. As I don't have unlimited data, I'd like to stop it if possible. In addition, I have tried to accept the ota to see if it would fix it, but it doesn't install since I am rooted and running twrp.
Any suggestions?

? What's Optipop? A custom rom? Then why in the hell is it receiving the official OTA update from Google? Ask the ROM dev.
I know who wouldn't touch that stuff.

Yes, It's a custom rom. I have no clue why it is receiving an official ota update...
Yeah, I'll ask the rom dev to and see what he says.
