[Q] Hardware required for Android Market access?

I know there are certain requirements such as having a 3G radio and camera that google requires for market access. At least, that's what I've read. My question is how are things like the wifi only Galaxy Tab going to access it? Is it going to be packing a 3G radio, but just not activated sort of like how the FM radio shipped in the nexus but wasnt activated out of the box?
I am exploring this question because NOOKcolor is launching this month and runs a skin on top of android2.1. I'm hoping it gets rooted with cyanogen on it because that would be awesome on a $250 tablet. But the question remains...would it be able to access the market? Can the 'hardware requirements' be bypassed by any means on a rooted device?
TIA
Lots of devices run android and don't have a 3g radio and only wifi. They're mostly mp3 players but they can access the market as far as I've seen. It should be possible for the NOOKcolor to be able to reach the market. I don't know for sure though, I've been wrong before.
Sent from my nonsensikal froyo using XDA App
interesting
To access Market there is no hardware requirement. You just need a few apks. And internet connection.

[Q] Voodoo Control Plus App

Hi, I'm sort of confused about the Voodoo Control Plus App (I unfortunately can't provide a link to the app in the market place, but it's the only one that comes up under 'Voodoo Control Plus.')
It mentions it functions on default kernals but talks about requiring Root permissions? I'm pretty unfamiliar with a lot of the technical aspects it's discussing and only have a very basic understanding with rooting as it wasn't something I ever had the need to do.
I have a stock Nexus S running Android 2.3.3. Basically my question is will this app work as advertised under these stock circumstances? Or am I out of luck with regards to the stated 'Root is required for the module option (on standard kernels)'
I've heard plenty of fantastic things about it, but am hesitant to pony up the coin at the moment as I'm slightly unsure as to whether it would actually function or not.
Any help in alleviating my confusion would be greatly appreciated.
If your kernel doesn't currently support Voodoo, which is the case since you are running the stock kernel. Then the control app can load the module for you, however, loading a module requires root.
You have two options:
1) unlock your bootloader and flash a Voodoo supported kernel, which doesn't require rooting in contrast to popular believe
2) root your phone and let the app load the module for you
I would opt for 1) since the Voodoo module doesn't include screen colour tuning. On some phones, you can even do 1) without unlocking the bootloader.

[Q] What will it take to make the new sixaxis driver work on the SK4G?

So sir_earl has done us all a great service by making it possible to use the Playstation 3 controller with Android phones. He posted about it in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179929
But unfortunately for us, it's not compatible with the Sidekick 4G or several other recent Samsung phones. It sounds like our stock ROM doesn't give it the access it needs to the bluetooth hardware. What would it take to fix this? Is it something we can add with a custom kernel?
(BTW, I am the farthest thing from a software developer on the face of the earth, so sorry if I turn out to be Captain Oblivious.)
This is not an issue with access, but rather that certain protocols aren't built into our driver.
Think of it like this; you're trying to use an Xbox controller with a Playstation. They're both controllers, but they don't know how to talk to each other.
This would require either rewriting the bluetooth driver ( not feasible) or seeing if the driver is similar in our phones to that of one of the working phones.
EDIT: took a look in the kernel config, and found some bluetooth protocols that weren't enabled, that according to http://www.pabr.org/sixlinux/sixlinux.en.html are the same as the ones that the controller uses? not sure.
EDIT2: Tried enabling all the bluetooth options in the kernel config, couldn't get the compat checker to tell me anything good, still just says missing protocol, even though HID (what it should be) is enabled. I PM'd sir_earl to see what protocol is required and which phones it works on, perhaps I can see if their driver will build with our kernel, or if I can somehow mash together our sources to make it work.
That's a great start. I'd be really happy if we could make this work.
Our phone has all the power it needs to run things like N64 and PS1 emulators, and combined with the TV out cable, we've effectively got a dozen game consoles in our pockets. We just need a good way of controlling them.
Update: got a PM back from sir_earl, it's true that Samsung left out the BT protocol we need to use this, it's called "L2CAP via raw sockets" (from sir_earl). He suggested that using the AOSP/CM BT stack would be a good place to try, so I may give that a shot sometime later, as my list of projects is somewhat long right now.
Thanks for getting to the bottom of this. Here's hoping you get a chance to try it.
Did you have a chance to fiddle with this any more? I'd sure like to be able to use a proper gamepad with all the awesome emulators that run on these phones.
Tried looking at it, but the bluetooth stack that has proper support didn't work by just being added to our Kernel. I'm also kinda working on porting our kernel to be compatible with CM6/7, which would be easier to add the bluetooth stack to.

Bluetooth MAP

So ive recently purchased a new vehicle that has the ability to read and send texts via bluetooth. To my disappointment, the infuse (along with most other phones) does not have bluetooth MAP built into android. Ive done some searching and couldnt find any infuse rom that has this built in. Anyone have any ideas as to how to get it built in or any devathat would like to try? I know there is a Cyanogen 7 version by euroskank that has it built in that supports the sgs2. Would i be able to run that? Thanks.

[Q] Looking for a alternative to the built-in tether app

Hi everyone, I am trying to find a wifi tether app to use instead of the one which came with my ROM (in signature) as it lacks major functionality.
When i was back on touchwiz, access control was built in. This app does not have it. Could anyone recommend an app for this purpose?
From my signature you can see I am rooted
More functionality>good looking GUI
Any suggestions are appreciated
