PPMB Landing Page - General Questions and Answers

Has anyone ever been redirected to this page even though you have 5gb of data on your line? I get this probably 3 times a day now for the pass 2wks and customer service or the reps at a retail store can't seem to figure out why I am getting this about 3 times a day now. And a reboot seems to help connect again but it shouldn't do that in the first place. Especially because I have 5gb of data and only used about 300 or so MB as of the 23rd. I have a brand new G2x phone, started since I got it on the 12th, but I'm on my 3rd replacement phone because that's all they tell me to do really.. replace the phone, replace, replace.. they have updated the imei everytime, had 2 new sim cards, factory reset so many times.. I swapped phones with my girl, she has the same phone.. but the problem continues to wherever the sim card goes so it has to be a network problem right? I've told them that too.. all they did was offer another replacement phone, and that one is coming Tuesday. It would lose data after 30min or so of usage. If anyone had this problem or knows how to fix please help.. thanks.

So its bothering the hell out of me right now. It doesnt look like a dead pixel, I see it when the screen is off. So its more like a piece of dirt stuck between the screen and the glass.
Its mainly bothering me since its a brand new device.. Should I just settle or do I bother to go back and exchange it?
I've never dealt with Sprint CS before. Any tips? Can I just walk in and ask for an exchange? I'm not the main account holder though, my sister is.
If you go to a corporate store they order a new one. Good thing for you since this phone is new that you probably get a new one and not a refurb. They will run test and probably ask you to do a hard/soft reset to see if that fixes it. But you SHOULDNT have a problem.

Hm sounds good.
What counts as a corporate store though? Any of the big yellow sprint-only stores?
Theres one near my campus but I dont know if I trust it, shady neighborhood haha.
I'll drop by and see what they say though.

Cricket/AIO merging. What does this mean for us?

*****THIS HAS BEEN POSTED ON SEVERAL FORUMS*****
I got a text message on my phone today from Cricket. It told me Cricket and AIO have or are currently in the process of merging and gave me a link in the text for more info regarding what will happen and change during this transition.
Site: http://merger-info.aiowireless.com/
check it out for yourself. It gives less than ANY info. It does say though, that Cricket users will be required to buy a new device at some point when the merge is completed to continue to recieve service.
I bought my Samsung galaxy s3 from Cricket in early December.
It is 4g LTE compatible and uses a sim card, even though it says clearly throughout the Cricket site that they use CDMA devices.
Does this mean it can still be used after the merge, or will I STILL need to buy a new device? I believe it is a gsm compatible device.
I will include a picture of my phone, with the back cover showing it is a Cricket phone that has a sim card slot. That actually has a sim card in it.

Who else has Cricket or AIO? What are your thoughts on this merge?

T-Mobile LTE (USA) is just awesome!

I switched from Verizon a few months ago, and since I was tethering ~20gb/mo to my computer, it was stupid expensive. The day my contract was up I went to a T-Mobile store with a friend's old HTC POS and switched. I'm saving around $150/mo, and have been using upwards of 300gb/mo (yes, 300 - lots of Netflix and uTorrent). I get some incredible data speeds too.

Early Saturday morning when I got home from work I noticed that there was something very wrong with my data connection. It'd be fast for the briefest moments, with long periods of nothing. Odd, because I had 4 bars and LTE, with a signal strength of -85db.
I went to bed, hoping it be back to normal when I woke up. It wasn't. So I called tech support, who told me to do all the rebooting and blah blah blah, which I had already done. I was transferred to a tech specialist, who quickly realized I knew what I was talking about, and that something was definitely wrong with their equipment, and not my phone. He said they'd dispatch some tech guys to the site and hopefully it would be fixed in a few hours.
They did. Just in time to stream the UFC Brown vs Silva fight (BTW, HOLY $#!+ what a fight!). :good:
How do I get such good speeds, and how do I know they sent tech guys to fix the equipment?

Having a DATA sim causes battery to drain very fast (Cell Standby)

I made a previous thread where I tried to force LTE to solve my Cell Standby issue. In the end I couldn't figure out a way to do this on a non-rooted phone.
Until recently I found an app Network Mode that allowed me to select "LTE only" which I thought would solve the problem of my phone wasting his battery to finding a GSM connection (which I guess the problem is).
Cell Standby is currently still on the top with usage, but it dropped from 70-85% to 50%.
But I want it to drop more, is there anything else I can do to test to find what causes him to use this much battery, and possibly disable it?
PS. I don't have this problem when I put my Belgian SIM in my phone which isn't limited to internet data.

Bump
I tried to contact Google, they sent me to Samsung. Samsung said it's a stock android problem so sent me back, placed the bug on their bug system but no response yet. Anything I can try myself while waiting?
Last bump, I promise. I'm stuck between two companies and my phone can't survive a day.

[Q] Cellular service issues after broken display - Please advice?

Hi everyone.
Please help if you have any advice
I dropped my laptop on my OPO and I broke both displays (both OPO and laptop).
This sucks bad because I can barely afford to fix one, let alone two.
I did fix the OPO and - this is weird - I am getting service issues.
I went back to the repair guy (really nice person), and he opened the OPO in front of me and showed me that the antenna is well connected so no issue there.
The issue is very odd: I do get to register my sim on the network (or at least it does show my carrier) but my reception is barely there.
Now I know the OPO has issues showing signal bar (right?) but in any case my signal bar always shows no signal.
I resetted everything and even went back to stock OxygenOS firmware (I think).
Getting barely any service. Tried a different SIM - same problem.
