Cricket/AIO merging. What does this mean for us? - General Topics

*****THIS HAS BEEN POSTED ON SEVERAL FORUMS*****
I got a text message on my phone today from Cricket. It told me Cricket and AIO have or are currently in the process of merging and gave me a link in the text for more info regarding what will happen and change during this transition.
Site: http://merger-info.aiowireless.com/
check it out for yourself. It gives less than ANY info. It does say though, that Cricket users will be required to buy a new device at some point when the merge is completed to continue to recieve service.
I bought my Samsung galaxy s3 from Cricket in early December.
It is 4g LTE compatible and uses a sim card, even though it says clearly throughout the Cricket site that they use CDMA devices.
Does this mean it can still be used after the merge, or will I STILL need to buy a new device? I believe it is a gsm compatible device.
I will include a picture of my phone, with the back cover showing it is a Cricket phone that has a sim card slot. That actually has a sim card in it.

Who else has Cricket or AIO? What are your thoughts on this merge?

I have attached the Open Development VZW LTE/3G device specs here for December 2010 (latest release, there is probably going to be a release in Jan. of the three main documents) for those that don't want to register with VZW:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3gjrtpvcn49zu
The documents are publicly available here and others (and I recommend XDA-developers register for an account DIRECTLY with VZW Open Development and go totally legit):
http://opennetwork.verizonwireless.com/getDeviceCertified_docSpec.aspx
Remember, VZW is going TOTALLY OPEN like AT&T now and doesn't care much about anything as long as it doesn't screw around/degrade with their network. With LTE data caps you're paying for the data anyways whether you are tethered or not.
Welcome VZW to the world of OPEN DEVELOPMENT with Android! (No I do NOT work for VZW, I'm just a geek that registered with VZW).
Hope this is helpful for my fellow VZW dev's! If you guys have the cash attend the developer conference sometimes in SF or NYC or whenever VZW hosts it again (probably again in 6 months this summer )
Note: The ODIS.zip package also has EVDO/1X authentication info (big package).
I have to go now (god-damn busy schedule, will be checking this thread back in 6 hours maybe...)

How to remove Verizon's tethering restriction, when phone is used outside of US?

Facts:
1) It's not blocked by local provider. I can use the same local sim card with non-Verizon phone(international version).
2) Phone LG G4. Android 5.1.
3) I can make calls, internet is working with local GSM provider. I had no problems with tethering in US with Verizon SIM.
4) I also rooted the phone. I guess I need to stop some process. Which one?
Since I travel a lot, when I was purchasing the phone and getting the service, I was assured that I will not have any problems with SIM swapping, since the phone is unlocked. Very weird - you need to enable some Verizon plan, while working with non-Verizon provider.
Spent about 24 hours of my vaction time trying to find out the solution. Called to Verizon tech support. They have no idea. I am very disappointed how all these companies now are doing their jobs only half way, cutting time and money on testing of their products, leaving it to the customers to discover all these issues and resolve them, or not disclosing about these issues, when I sign up for the service and buying the phone.
Please help.

I think you should install a custom ROM for that.

Sprint s5 network unlock box

Originally posted in wrong thread. I thought you couldn't get the unlock code box to pop up on the sprint variant (SM-G900P), but managed to do so. Maybe it was possible, but I just never seen it.
Anyway, what now? I have MSL code, but don't want to start throwing wrong codes in and freezing the phone.

I was messing around with idoneapps gt.apk after flashing to MOAR V7.0. I ran the GT.APK update afterwards and the network unlock box was gone and anyway It's for "international unlock", wich I already have and is useless to me. I was thinking I could domestically sim unlock if I had a code to input. No?
Those input boxes are accessible on the Sprint ROMs, (was discovered somewhere in the DSU thread) the problem is there are no known codes out there to input - places/people that sell codes simply do not have them for sprint devices.
In theory, yes, it would probably unlock your device if you got the correct code, but as you point out, trying random ones will likely hard-lock your device (and need a second code to unfreeze).

Help needed: S8+ stuck on AQJ5 and not receiving OTAs since relocation

Hi folks.
I have a carrier unlocked S8+ purchased in Singapore. I received a few OTAs while I was there, but have since relocated to the US and I haven't received any OTAs since AQJ5, which was the October security patch. Manual check and the system says I have the latest, which I obviously don't, and even using Smart Switch doesn't trigger an update. I recently did a factory reset with my AT&T US sim installed hoping it might trigger an update, and tried without a sim too. Neither worked.
Complicating factor is I don't have access to a Windows machine to use Odin, I only have a Mac. I tried looking into Jodin3, but so far as I can tell that program is no longer operational.
I need help with any suggestions on how I can trigger an update, OR for someone to share an appropriate update.zip(s) which I can load to my phone from the SD Card to get me up to Oreo from AQJ5...
Model number: SM-G955FD (Exynos)
Carrier unlocked
Current software version: g955fxxu1aqj5/g955foxm1aqj5/g955fxxu1aqj5
Any suggestions from you all would be appreciated. I've spent weeks googling for ideas.
Thanks

Note 5, remove "Sprint" boot screens, perhaps with Package Disabler Pro?

I bought a new-old Note-5 (it's 2018 as of writing) which was locked to Sprint. (I use AT&T in USA.)
Since of course Sprint won't unlock being a-holes, I used one of the excellent online services where you pay $30 and a dude logs in to your phone and unlocks it for you (I think it was unlockallcellular.com ) - all good so far. Works perfect with AT&T or any sim.
However my lovely Note 5 has the lame Sprint boot screens.
I have heard that Package Disabler Pro can get rid of this for you?
In short which items then should I disable, or ?? I have fear, help1

search on "sprint" ..
BTW sorry for the lame question. I'm an iOS engineer, but I only use Samsung/Android phones as my personal actual phone.
I hung on to my Note 3 for years, I notice the brand new Notes have no physical button! So I was pleased to get a new unused (but apparently Sprint locked) Note 5 !
Please help your Droid newb friend!
