[Q] Question regarding Venue Pro and Carrier phones - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

1- Does Dell Venue Pro have a Pentile Matrix display or regular subpixel arrangement?
2- There are quite a few US/UK carrier based unlocked phones in my country like Focus, Mozart which are AT&T or T-Mobile or sometimes 3 based. So if I'm using them here, will I be able to get the Mango update when the carrier releases it for its country?

I am also interested in an unlocked Venue Pro. Unlocked with no carrier binding is available but I am delaying purchase because like you I am also not sure if the upgrade to Mango will work here in Pakistan.
And one question to you is that what do you do to get Paid Applications since Marketplace is also not supported here.
Regards

come on guys im phoneless and i need to make a decision

1. Amoled display
2. Probably

Thanks. I know its an AMOLED display. That wasn't my question.

Just got an at&t Venue Pro...
After looking at it a bit myself, and after doing a Google search, it seems like its using a PenTile display, though I can find much to say it with 100% certainty. It is a very nice display...
As for the updating from another country, that I don't know. Maybe someone from another country can shed some light, but I wouldn't think that your location should stop you from getting your update. Even if it does, there is always XDA, and more than likely there will be some file you can download here to update your phone.

Without a doubt the Verizon version is the most crippled. They cut the RAM to 192, CPU is slower and took out the accelerometer. Plus it costs more.
where is everyone getting this "verizon took out the accelerometer" crap?

One of the main stream gadget blogs posts about it, but I looked on HTC's site regarding the Verizon version and looks like that part is still intact. Everything else though still stands.

Uhhh, you are atempting to directly compare the 'crippleness' of an AT&T or "unlocked" GMS phone to CDMA models?
For starters, you'd best declare that you are aware that CDMA devices are absolutely LOCKED to their branded carrier --- unless a third-party carrier is willing to accept another's device. Unless one is content with their carrier that may certainly be crippling status of a phone.

Hi Keystone,
Of course I know the differences of GSM and CDMA technologies.
What I'm attempting is to compare features added or removed from the the original HTC. LIke I'm aware AT&T changed the keyboard layout.
Do you know what other features have been modified by those carriers?

I believe the CPU still the same. I read somewhere a guy posted wrongly that it was a 400mhz. As far as specs, it is still the MSM201A 528MHZ.
I haven't seen the Sprint one, but apparently is the more intact of all.
I had in my hands the Fuze in an AT&T store, the Keyboard has a numbers pad ovelaying the alpha keys. But I verified it has accelerometer but slow or unresponsive
I think actual verizon, sprint and AT&T owners can tell what changes were made to their devices.
If I ever decide to go for one of those I don't want surprises.
Is the one coming out on Verizon include all those people and the dude with a clip board following you around, or did they remove that too?

Ahh right, sorry...just on this forum some are very confused when concerning CDMA.
The Telus & Bell releases are spot-on the same as the internal hardware of the Sprint model. The exterior just isn't the red -- flat black smooth battery covers instead.

[Q] Tether on HTC Arrive Mango?

Hi,
I recently got my hands on an HTC Arrive and I was wondering if there's anyway to get tether working on it.
Also, what is the difference between the HTC 7 Pro and HTC HD 7? I am slightly confused by the naming schemes.
Thanks.
not that I know of. 7 pro started in Europe and is at US Cellular, a variant of the Arrive. The HD7 is the big brother "so to speak" version w/ 4.3" screen and no keyboard. HD7 on TMobile and HD7 on AT&T.

There isn't squat for the HTC Arrive on Sprint. Hell the device fell into XDA's "legacy" section because the lack of activity.
I am hoping gets their hands on it and gets some stuff out for it.
Is there any way to get rid of the INTERLOP lock or change the stock accent colors?
If you are still on NoDo and dev unlocked you can easily change the accent colors with Advanced Config Tool v1.2.2.0. If you are on Mango there is no solution yet, sorry.

[Q] Planning to buy GTab 7 Plus - Need Advice

Hi everyone. As the heading states, I am planning to buy the GTab 7 Plus in India for my dad. Now, here is my concern:
In India, the same tab is marketed as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 620. It still has the 1.2 GHz Exynos Processor, 1024X600 resolution screen & includes Voice calling features. I have searched all over the net & couldn't find if there are any differences compared to the GTab 7 Plus which is available internationally. So, in this case, is it only the change in name for marketing purposes or is there some other variation also? Basically, I want to understand if I can use all the ROMs available here on XDA with the tab available in India?
If anyone has any info on this I would really appreciate it. Thanks in Advance!

But I thought the tab was for your dad? Kidding...
Take a look in the development subforum just to be sure but as far as I know there are no custom ROMs for the Plus yet.
Hi im from Philippines. My advice is do not buy Galaxy Tab 7 plus... why? Because Gtab 7 plus is not super amoled. You just wait for Gtab 7.7 that is a amoled LCD...
Sent from TAPAKING using Tapatalk
I already bought GTab 7 plus for my mom. I pissed off when i read about the specs and it is not amoled LCD.
Sent from TAPAKING using Tapatalk
Yes, I am fully aware that it is not super amoled. The point is that my dad is getting a limited time offer from his workplace for a 60% discount on any phone purchase. But since he already has a phone which he is content with, he wanted a tablet to use as an ereader. This is the only well speced tab which has phone calling capabilites & is available for purchase here at the moment.
Anyways, I have gone ahead with the purchase & dad is happy with the device. Thanks for all your inputs.
Guys, I don't know about price for Tab 7.7 in your country, but in Russia I got my Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus for $468 and price for 7.7 starting at $780. So I don't want pay twice more for super amoled screen and 0.2ghz difference
I am also looking to buy a galaxy tab 7 plus and am undecided which version to buy. I live in the united states and I could just get the p6210 wifi only version, but I am not sure if I will need 3g. I don't want to buy the wifi only then find myself often wanting to use the wireless features when I have no wifi. From my understanding i can use the GPS no matter which version I have so that's at least a plus no matter which way I go.
If I end up buying a 3g version which would people recommend the international unlocked one, the t-mobile un-subsidised, or the t-mobile contracted one.
For people who live in the US and actually got the international one, which cell phone company are you using with it and are you able to get a cellphone plan and use it as a huge cellphone.
People with the t-mobile version have you been able to unlock the subsidised version and/or use the unlocked version as a cellphone? Either with a t-mobile prepaid plan or another company that uses the same frequency.
From what I have read it seems like the international one would have to be used with at&t and t-mobile version is only usable with t-mobile in the US atleast.
In Thailand has 2 version
P6200 (for 3G 900MHz)
P6200L (for 3G 850MHz)

I have the 6210, I'm fine with wifi only because 1) I'm not paying for yet another data plan, and 2) tethering your phone to the tab works great, assuming you have a smartphone.

I second that. In addition, the extra screen resolution and slight bump in processor speed are not worth the extra money IMO. Good Luck with your purchase!
I think you should go on and get it. Sure, it lacks Super amoled screen, but I find that people that randomly see my tablet have no problem with my screen.
In fact they say the screen is pretty awesome. In fact, the only real people who seem to notice the screen are fellow tech people.

Oneplus 3T A3010 T-Mobile Support

Hi all!
I'm looking to buy this Oneplus 3t used from this link - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS66QGE/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A389ML6MNB3VQK&psc=1,
This product is listed as the chinese version. I have several questions as to what this means. Can I get an LTE connection from T-Mobile using this phone? Does this mean that the phone ships with hydrogen OS instead of Oxygen OS? What other limitations will be presented to me using the chinese version of the phone?
If the phone ships with hydrogen, I'll just flash oxygen, not a big deal. What is a big deal is T-Mobile LTE support. (Note:I live in eastern PA). Some say that band 12 from T-Mobile cannot be accessed on the oneplus 3t. Some say it's a hardware issue, some say it's a software issue. I really can't justify buying this phone if I can't get a solid LTE connection (my current Nexus 6 phone works flawlessly in this regard). All of the forum posts that I have read seem to be many months old. I'm hoping that the issue was fixed at this point. I'm not even really sure what the "chinese version" means.
Any info at all helps!
Thanks so much!

I put mine on the beta channel release. Coming from a P6P, using straight talk, it would not accept the sim.
Called Straight talk, which was useless. They said I had to buy a new sim card. Saw on a thread here that the
beta channel rom fixed it. Sure enough! After reboot, the sim card worked!
I was expecting 5g update, disappointing...

I wouldn't hold your breath. They either chose horrible hardware, don't know how to fix it, or won't because we will buy a new Pixel. With that being said, I actually think that the 7 Pro is an improvement over the 6 pro. My battery and performance is dramatically improved because of the updated Tensor chip and I don't have the cell standby bug that plagued me in the 6 pro.

This isn't the full release notes.
That article from notebookcheck.net referencing the Google Blog only concerns the "Android Feature Update", which is for GMS Android users. There is also a "Pixel Feature Drop" which Pixel users will likely get tomorrow. Plus there will likely be other "fixes" and whatnot.

I am in 5G unsupported country and I am using physical SIM I have tried to disable DSDS but it didn't seem to stick. I have tried with stock and beta QPR1 same result. Which custom kernel would you recommend? I think the issue is with the radio and the Samsung Shannon 5300G. I am not sure if there is a radio firmware I could try.
"I am in 5G unsupported country"
I fail to understand the complaints from people who live in "unsupported" countries!
Why would you even consider buying ANY phone that is unsupported in any way?
The fault is yours not Googles! YMMV

Probably because they wanted a pixel but Google only officially sells phones in like 4 countries (exaggerating but probably not by much). I want phones available outside of the USA all the time but my wonderful carrier (verizon) and to a degree the other carriers as well suck and want big money to certify the ability to use their towers (bands). Stuck mainly with iSheep, Samdung, One Plus (already settled) and Google (constant hardware problems).
It will be difficult for me to make you understand anything since you fail to understand simple things like why anyone would pick a Google phone instead of another brand. Anyway I had Nexus and Pixel phones in the past and they have worked just fine. I was very well aware 5G and VoLTE don't work and I was not after these features. I would be perfectly fine with just 4G. Mine Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 2 XL worked flawlessly. I might have a faulty hardware I am not sure at this point. If you could not help me at least don't blame me for my choices, the money I have spent are mine not yours. Like I have said I know since the beginning some of the feature would not work and this was a risk I was willing to take since I wanted a "clean" android and rootable + unlocked bootloader (there are not many phone manufacturers offering such features). I was not expecting the Pixel to not support any well established telecom standards. Aside from that I live in Europe and I bought the phone from neighboring country. It is not from Japan or US/Canada with different bands.
@xpact , it might be your phone or possibly faulty modem hardware. I am in the US using the 7P7 (rooted, unlocked) without any issues (I keep 5G off) 99% of the time. Once in a while I have to restart my phone or turn airplane mode on and off because I would randomly lose service. Its pretty rare though and even less now after the November update.
Question for the group and I hope I'm in the right spot. I got my 7 pro last week. So I went to the Factory image page. I'm on Verizon so I took the verzon update. Now I see a update just for global. Should I wait on the Verizon or can I just install the global one? I'm new to Pixel experience.

I bought the unlocked P7P from Google and Verizon is my carrier. I have only been flashing the generic firmware to avoid VZW bloatware as much as possible. I haven't had any issues.
