[ROM] [ACS] EH17 TouchWiz 4 - Epic 4G Android Development

Thanks to zohawkish.
http://min.us/mRJUXE8ZU
Based on Eh17, but with some TW4 Files.
May not boot, so good luck.
I know the OP is boring for now, but I'll make it better later.

first...
i might give this a shot later

I'll try it out on my spare

It booted fine. Was a tad sluggish on startup but worked out. Didn't look too much different from eh17 normally

It looks the same? That's weird.

outside of TW4....yeah it looks the same

A cool rom, the TW4 doesn't do horizontal orientation when the keyboard slides out...

I've been running this since last night, and it seems to work much better for me than when I tried to run TW 4.5. The only issue I've had so far is with market updates crashing the market, but I'm sure that's from the way I restored all my apps, since I was so tired.
I would like to know if anyone knows of a way to do this true TW4 standalone from the ROM, or is the only way to use this ROM?

If it is anything like TW4.5, you have to turn on landscape mode followed by a reboot. It only has to be done once but once you do you get landscape.

Yeah, all you need is the framework.jar from the framework folder and it needs to go in an Eh17 rom and you also need twlauncher from system/app

Hey J. Everytime I run this I get only the app drawer on the dock. No phone browser or whatever else is usually there. Is it something I'm doing?

Just manually add the apps you want on the dock.
(App Drawer > Menu > View Type > Customizable Grid > Menu > Edit > *Make Changes* > Menu > Save > Menu > View Type > Go back to what you like.)
It's a lot more annoying than other launchers on the market, but you can still do it. TW4 seems to have a maximum of three apps, plus the app drawer. On the custom TW4.5, it allows for more, but the app drawer still will always be the right-most icon. Those two things are all I would as for Samsung.. well maybe an auto-hide home screen number too. Minor annoyances but a silky smooth launcher.
Also, thanks for the reply xboxfanj, about trying to add this without needing to flash the whole ROM.

Thanks.

If I can find the time, I might try learning how to do that, because I'm having a bit too much trouble combining my mods. I might tinker with it, along side working on getting ACS ICS where I want it on my phone. In the meantime, I've been using QQLauncher. It's nicer looking, and more of what I want, since it readily works with ACS ICS, but TW4 seemed to be a bit smoother for me. Now that the Galaxy Nexus has been announced, I might also be a little more patient as things develop. Not to mention, Cyanogen is getting pretty polished. Decisions, decisions.. I'll be glad when I'm finally settled on something. Until then, hopefully I can learn enough to help put some of these solid mods together.

St. Louis Buddies. Cardinals 2nite. I'll fix it and make it more TW4 like too, IE: not only the launcher, other interface elements too. I'll make it a theme.

what rom are you using? I only tested this on Fresh 2.3.3 so I don't know for sure if it works on any others. it does make changes to com.htc.resources.apk so if you're not using the same rom, it could cause problems.

In fresh 2.3.3, the background .png that you have to make transparent is in com.htc.resources.apk. I don't know where it's located in damage. That could be the problem... it's copying the entire com.htc.resources.apk to your /system/framework/ directory.
Thought I would try this on Darch's 2.8, but, no go, causes an infinite boot.
Any idea what it would take to work in an AOSP Rom?

I would just need to locate where the PNG file for the background is located for the rom you're using and change it to be blank/transparent. I don't really have time right now to work on it, but if I get a chance another day, I'll post it on the OP as an edit.

What issue is it that you can't get stable with? As gas's rom was built from the same thing mine is. Along with the fact he has even went to putting some of the same stuff in it.
The only issue as of right now is swype which I know what it is. I just have to get that far.

Is there any way someone can port touchwiz 4.0 from the T-Mobile galaxy s 2 to work with our kj6 roms? (Valahalla, octane v3, etc). I know about touchwiz 4.5 but its very unstable on my phone for some reason and its app sorting in the app drawer does not work. The 4.5 comes from the fact that it was a modified version of 4. This launcher automatically comes configured with the stay in ram feature selected- it's been awhile but I am sure that Launcherpro has that feature as well, but it is by default off. Try disabling that and see if it just fc's the launcher (thus resulting in a restart of the launcher) as opposed to your phone crashing. Thats really the only thing that would separate it from other launchers. You can turn the 3d effects off as well to help with the ram. I always make sure to kill passive processes- then again I do not use octane so I am not sure how it runs.
I never had problems with the app drawer. You can change the sorting preferences in the preferences menu of the launcher. It is by default on unrestricted, but you can change it to alphabetical.

I tried turning that off, launcher won't even open anymore so I had to reinstall it. Tried running it for a day but it just doesn't work on my phone which is currently running valahlla final. I have the app drawer set to alphabetical but it still doesn't sort properly. If I install a lot of new apps or delete a lot of apps, there are lots of blank spaces and the only way to get rid of the spaces is to manually move each app one by one which is really a big pain. I just want stock touchwiz 4. I hope someone can get it to work on this phone. After playing with my brother's galaxy s 2, none of the launchers on the market feel anywhere close to that smooth.

Yeah go launcher is pretty good. Still isn't as fast as launcher pro though. I really wish we had a stock touchwiz 4 launcher for this phone. Tw4.5 freezes too much and no other launcher out there really comes close to how fluid tw4 is. I've tried like every launcher in the market too.

Why are you resurrecting old threads and posting the same thing in each one?

Customizing Rooted Stock v21y 2.3.4

Since there are not any custom roms available for the new baseband, I thought it might be worthwhile to have a thread on customizing kwes1020's Rooted Stock Rom. I went for an ICS look on mine using available themes and apps. By the way, I have found this ROM to be quite stable with good battery life.
Themes/Customizations available on XDA:
[Theme]Touch of ICS for Stock 2.3.4
v21y 2.3.4 Arc'd Theme+QuickPanel MOD (Have not tried this one yet)
ICS "Style" Settings for 2.3.4 (Have not tried this one yet)
Market Apps:
ADWLauncher EX
Ice Cream Sandwich (theme)
Notification Toggle (Good alternative for Weapon G2x like toggles)
/system/app mover (Moves Notification Toggle into system folder)
Roboto Font Customization:
Download Roboto Font Family
Roboto replacement for Clockopia (lockscreen clock) (Prevents alignment problems)
There are many ways to install, I used TypeFresh with AndExplorer.
Remove Bloat:
NoBloat Free
Bookmarks Manager
Add:
Thanks for adding this thread.
Go Launcher Ex Really an excellent launcher replacement.
Rom Toolbox Pro: Gives you access to adding Roboto fonts and installing custom startup animations.
and
Go Locker: a really nice lockscreen add-on that you can customize.

The only thing I can think is that attempts to adjust just the kernel to match the new baseband have been unsuccesful. Two things that might yet work:
1. Any way to move the phone code from this ROM to a flashable zip(less likely) or
2. The source code is out there. Can we build CM 7.2 on top of this base? I wish I knew more about this...

I was using ADW. didnt seem to be an issue with the stock launcher. did i miss something?

ICS style on ANY ROM

This may be old news for a lot of a people, but since I can't find any mention of it in the G2x Forums, then I figured there were probably still enough people who don't know about it to warrant a new thread.
If you're like me and got tired of the instabilities of ICS roms and switched to a GB one, but missed the look and feel of ICS, then here is your answer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1636393
Holo Launcher works for 2.2 and above. I've been running it on top of HFP 2.2 for 3 days with no problems. It does a great job of giving you an ICS feel on your GB ROM and also features pinch previews and scrollable docks. I recommend using this with a rom that supports Theme Chooser to fully customize your device and really get that Sandwich feel (or whatever other feel you want )
thats pretty cool, gonna try this when i get home, thanks for posting this!

My current rom supports lockscreen gestures (I use them frequently). And if you hold down on an app from the app drawer, drag it to the delete/trash icon, and hold it there, it turns into an uninstall icon. Note: this only works with downloaded apps and not system apps.***
Oh.. and I appreciate thanks, but if you try the launcher and like it, please show your support and thanks to dev in the original thread linked in the OP. Thanks!
Its Ok, doesn't compare to ADW with the ICS Sqrd paid theme is smooth silky Butter!
I tried this before, it's not bad but I'd rather use GO Launcher EX with an ICS theme. It's just way smoother for my phone.
