[WTF] Gingerbread ROMs=android forgets the PIN - Samsung Infuse 4G

So with any type of lockscreen password I try to put on my phone in any GINGERBREAD ROM, when I try to enter it, it says "Incorrect password" and I can try it until my phone locks itself until the universe ends, but it never remembers it. Not after a reboot, no special ROM (non-GB ones don't have this problem on my phone, however), no kernel. No SD removal.
Nothing works, it just forgets it like I entered something random when I set it and don't remember it. But I do. It happens with any type of lock, pin, password, pattern...
My question is... why gingerbread ROMs? I can put any type of password on any froyo ROM including the AT&T one and it doesn't forget it.
Return phone to Samsung because the only option is defective hardware with a few bad sectors on the internal SD? Or what do I do?

But... But... Didn't you say that Rogers Gingerbread was perfect and we were all idiots for looking forward to an official AT&T release?

No, leave my thread and go re-read my post. And then do not return.
I never even mentioned Rogers. How bout you try to actually look at someone's username before you troll them?

1. Try formatting the internal SD in windows.
2. Try a clean install of ROM on ur phone.

You said Gingerbread, so by definition you are talking about the Rogers UXKG3 release since that's what every Gingerbread ROM is based off of. There's work on integrating some of the features and fixes from the UCKI3/I4 leaks, but really all I3/I4 have brought us is so far is fixed video recording and a bunch of bad builds.
But - according to your first post here (yes, I DID look at your username) UXKG3 is apparently perfect and we're idiots for looking forward to an official AT&T update and being excited about an official release and the leaks.
So why don't you just stick with ROMs based off of UXKG3 and accept that they are what they are?

note to self. don't cross entropy...

Will try when I get bored with my phone sometime this weekend. I assume format in the same 'file system' as whatever it already is? And default block sizes or whatever they're called these days? Allocation units or something...
But yeah, thanks, will try, will report.

I saw that in the Eris dump when i was playing with it. The way i figure, if it's some call home tattletale app built into test software, it calls back to verizon and I have unlimited data - at that point I chuckled and stopped caring.

it comes from the Eris dump. If it's some tracking software put in there to keep people from sharing it, it will call back to Verizon. It wont cost me anything, since data is free.
then i realized i was getting freaked out over phone software, so I just laughed at myself and installed anyway.
It very well could be something that whoever leaked it out put in. I don't have anything I care about on my phone. I'm not suggesting it's safe, just that I thought I was silly.

how do i remove this? i tried it via root explorer and it didn't work...
hmmm. under further inspection i believe it takes screenshots as it contains the same exact instructions as shootme in the apk. very strange. kinda scary. i remember someone on said on the forum where the eris was leaked tht the guy who posted it will be able to see everything you do and he and the guy who started the post has only 1 post on xda to this day
but no big worrys lol it also contains png's with htc's logo.

im not sure. in the resources theres nothing to specify that. its like it takes a screenshot when you do something to trigger it and bam it sends? lol creeeepy
I've tried examining the apk myself, where are you seeing instructions that relate to ShootMe? Is it not also possible it is similar because you are looking at aspects of the APK that would be shared across most APKs in general?
Not saying this isn't something malicious, just curious what we have to suggest that it truly is.
I'm hoping its a case of "Paranoia will destroy ya", but I supposed it is possible we are all running some kind of screen-grabbing trojan. In the meantime, either follow gbhil and remove them, or hope its something legit we just don't understand.

Pin lock lockscreen

This is probably a stupid question but I like using the pin lock but I hate that you have to tap ok after you enter it. Is there anyway to take out having to tap ok or any apps you guys prefer to use.
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
How can I have a lockscreen and pin I have been trying to figure this out, like one of the default ones on black final vahalla and not one from like launcherpro which resets itself when you restart your phone, kind of different question i think but also similar don't wanna make another thread.
Kinda off topic here, but I wanna voice my opinion on these types of "security locks". I find them to be absolutely useless.
Reason: When you Odin a ROM over, everything gets erased. I'm sure everybody has friends who have phone knowledge. They can just get a friend to Odin any ROM over and your locks are gone.

I know but I want to prevent someone from going into my phone and viewing my texts and facebook, and I know that person has no knowledge with phone software or anything only way for him to get in is to know the security lock, as I want the pleasure and look of the lockscreen + security lock if its possible right now you can only have security lock.
To better put my question I want a similar pin lock to how the iPhone is you just enter the 4 digits and it unlocks without hitting ok. And do t say go buy an iPhone cause I don't want one just the pin lock

I think this is the second, third??? time you have asked this.
Here you go. There is always more than one way to do things. This is one way. I use Go Launcher Ex as my launcher. There is a lockscreen app that can go with Go Launcher called GO Locker. GO Locker gives you the option to have a lockscreen and pin.

I had this issue also. However, I bootlooped my phone this morning messing with my bootloaders against FB's recommendation and had to start fresh with everything - Bootloaders, ROM, kernel (i.e. no more gremlins) - and have not had the issue since.
You can start with fixing permissions. But I am assuming my issue was caused by gremlins.

MK802

Hacked
......
The aspect ratio and network speed issues will need a kernel fix, apparently that's coming in the official V2 firmware.
I can confirm that the ZTE MP112 3G dongle works, sadly though the "mobile hotspot" doesn't, so no ability to use the MK as a smart router just yet
......
Hello all .. Sorry for the newbie question .. are there any prereqs before installing this ROM such as achieving root .. Or that will already be achieved by following the instructions above? .. I just wanted to confirm before I get going with this .. Thanks

thanks for this, however my wifi is still dropping periodically although situation has been somewhat improved over original rom.
with original rom i was getting dropped to 1mbps with apps telling me no network connection available.... every minute or so.
after flashing your rom it has improved to dropping every 5 minutes.... still not good enough for me to stream the youtube vids i wanna watch though.
hope there can be some improvements?
Are you using a wireless remote/keyboard ?, if so then try putting the transmitter for it on an extension lead and move it out the way of the stick, that should help.
I'm getting no drops on mine, and I've only got one wire soldered to the antenna inside at the moment

I'm using my S3 as a wireless controller for it, by using the app droidmote.
Nevertheless, the drops were occuring even when i was just using a wired mouse during the initial setup phase (which took very long due to the repeated connection drops).
I guess i'll wait and see if the next firmware update helps, else i'm thinking of trying a DIY aluminium foil antenna project for it
I am having issues with WIFI on the stock rom. I'm not sure which version it is but it is on 4.1.1. My wifi signal is terrible were it is yet I have full bars on my laptop. I know this has a dual antenna so it was supposed to have good signal. It makes doing anything internet based a chore. Should I attempt a flash of this rom to try and fix it or wait for "official" if there ever is one? Cheers.
so far, so good....
I guess I've just gotten lucky. I bought a unit directly from Sainsmart and it was delivered in just 4 days (for a premium +/- $85 total).... Even running the stock firmware, setup was a snap and went flawlessly.
I've installed Finless 1.4 and messed around with unit for a couple hours controlling via droidmote on my GSII and Nexus 7, wireless keyboard/mouse and even a cheap air mouse I bought on Amazon.
I don't think I've ever dropped wireless signal, and have streamed content from netflix, youtube, XBMC and from my PC via upnp.
I have a Vizio HD router which is upstairs and the unit is connected to my TV downstairs and even with only 2 bars of wifi signal it streams HD content no problem.
From all of the forums and posts I've read it sounds like the mk808 is riddled with problems but I have yet to experience any besides your typical android app incompatibility issues for a tablet based UI.
The rom seems solid and I am happy to see development for it. Keep it up....

I don't have access to it right now, but as most android ROMs are you go to SYSTEM SETTINGS and scroll down to the bottom to ABOUT PHONE or ABOUT TABLET.... once selected it will show you which version and android you are running, kernel etc..

So I am going to be 100% clear here.
First when I looked at this post this morning
1) It said FInless ROM 1.4
2) Other users in this thread even called it FInless 1.4 see post #11 as an example
3) Alteran77 has PM'ed me first saying he got it off a torent then said he used my ROM to make this ROM.
4) The first post has NOW been completely edited to cover the tracks and even the title is now 1.5 custom ROM. Sorry I call BS here!
Now I do not mind if someone uses my work and ENHANCES it. e.g. adds value to the ROM like more fixes, etc. What I will not tolerate is a direct ripoff. A direct ripoff is when someone takes my ROM and changes the boot screen and build.prop to call it thier ROM. If the do not add value, then all your doing is stealing other peoples work and calling it yours!
Also what usually is done is if someone does take someones ROM and adds value, they also give credit to the original author. So absolutely no credit or even a mention of where this ROM came from was posted!
Then the person posts WHAT they did to the original ROM to make it better. NOTHING here was posted about what was done to my ROM to make it better.
I tag my ROMs in ways that help me identify it as I have been ripped off before like this. I will download this ROM and analyze it.
I am betting this is a rippoff no more!

Sprint Data Activation in 5.0 ROMs?

It seems that most 5.0 ROMs on the forum do not include the necessary package to run Sprints APN program. It was an issue getting ROM developers to do this when the Nexus 5 first released as well, but mostly everyone caught on quickly. Is there something else that is preventing this from being added that I am not aware of? Us Sprint users would appreciate not having to flash an APN fix, mostly because PRL/Profile update still do not function this way. Thanks!
It may take a while. The necessary files needed are odexed and they needed to be deodexed to run on the aosp builds. Also I agree the so called apn fix is not a fix at all but a temporary work around. People are looking into it but if you remove the omadmclient apk from the rom it works without any issue except not being able to update profile/prl. No need to flash any apn files.
No need to rant and rave, people are aware.

And no, flashing an APN .zip is NOT a substitute, because one, PRL/Profile update still do not function this way and second, quite frankly we shouldn't have to. My concern is this has been brought up for weeks now, but still nothing has been done about it, everyone keeps pushing this "APN fix" malarkey instead of fixing the issue...

Well, this explains why the one ROM that had it was odexed. Thank you for that information. I've run into the issue where if you factory image, the APNs are reset. So for example, if you factory image then immediately install a custom ROM without omadmclient, you need to edit APNs(manually or via recovery) otherwise you have no data. But you are correct, going between ROMs via recovery will keep the APN settings correct. No need for the zip.
Also, what's wrong with "malarky?"

If you're on a 6.0 bootloader, then you're stuck with 6.0 Roms, but if you're on a LP bootloader then the world is your oyster!

Hi! Android + oyster enthusiast here. On Marshmallow because of a few bad life choices.
Is there an easy method for catching this elusive LP bootloader you speak so highly of?

Got a little something stuck in my craw + softbricked the old 900P so... I'm using the computer as of this moment.
KNOX counter has been tripped (0x1). But my hunch is that it's also there's also bootloader issue hanging around.
So I'm trying to two girls one cup two birds one stone this sucker!! Trying for a capture of this mythical bootloader of yours while at the same time restoring my once trusty phone/mad science experiment back to life.
Figure too I might get out of this with something knowledgeable + can skate this SET WARRANTY BIT : kernel trauma message that has haunted my screen since the boondoggle went south. Straight down like a lead zeppelin five very long and very drawn out days ago.
Possible TMI: At least I've turned the corner on phone withdrawals and the twitching has finally left my body

I'm trying this now per your healthy + helpful suggestion but I wouldn't be surprised if I have. It FEELS like I've tried everything + at this point the phone repair burnout is so very real. If it doesn't work, oh well. I wouldn't be shocked at this point.
I've already prepared myself for the doomsday scenario of having to drive ten minutes past Walmart to the Sprint store + then just whipping out my community college acting chops like some dirty old hobo without dignity or regard for any woman or child who might be in the general vicinity.
Show the Sprint tech my utter confusion + bewildering loss of trust. Pleading ignorance to everything.
"Let me tell you, it was the weirdest thing, Mr. Sprint Gent... Phone updates and then BAM! This darn yellow message of death won't leave my screen and just decides to set up shop and hang around there thinking it's a bad habit something... This has never happened before."
Awkward silence. There's s a car alarm going off way on the other side of the Sprint store's parking lot. Nobody is talking in the entire store.
"But it WAS caused because of the phone's service upgrade, so..."
*Edited for clarity.*

Seriously though, in my short experience actually commenting here at XDA + not just lurking, does it seem like there's been a bunch, a new rash of these type issues with our SMG900Ps very recently?
I counted three new posts from within a week as I again made my rounds looking for the solution to my soft-brick yesterday.
It might just be me though- haven't ruled that one out.

Dude, just shoot straight with me. No anecdotes. No bs. I just want to fix your issue
You're probably not surprised, but I am shocked
Less mustard from me this time because hell, it's Friday and nearly everyone is going to have an awesome day.
Oh, and because your Android wizardry clutch + Columbo (but with brevity) detective game got the phone up and running. That LP bootloader unicorn we spoke of earlier will be nice.
If around Houston during the colder months let's do oysters. Otherwise, it's crawfish. That, or I'd be happy to assist in any way possible!
In the spirit of less being more, thank you man. Thank you!

Hey, man!
Baseband version G900PVPU3BOK4, or just OK4 as the hip kids like to say.
But coolness be damned, it's always "God's Second Gift to Man" in my thankful prayers. :good:

I still am unsure about what you need help with. If you're on ok4, your bootloader should be unlocked
