I just used the One-Click NvFlasher ClockworkMod 5.0.2.0 to install CWM. It appears that there used to be an internal and an external version, but it sounds like the newest version now combines both into one? When I try to do a nandroid backup I get the error "cannot mount /sdcard." Is this because I have no external sd card, and if so, is there a way to backup to the internal sd card?

Use older versions of cwm that supports internal sd.

Hi, I have clockwork mod 4.0.0.4 and I was trying to flash a rom from it. I went to install zip from SD card and then it brought me to the SD card directory, but for some reason my internal memory is renamed to SD card and my external SD card is named external 1, so instead of bringing me to the directory with all of the files that are on the sd card it brings me to the directory with all of the internal memory files. How to I flash a rom if I can't get to the right directory from clockwork mod?

With CWM, it will only allow you to flash from your Internal SDcard only. Option 1, move your files that you would like to flash - to the Internal SDcard Directory, or If you would like the option to flash from either the External or Internal you can use the CWM Rogue Recovery.

Thanks. Its weird because I thought I flashed zips from the external SD card before. I thought that you should put all of the fies that you are going to flash on the external SD card just in case something happens to the internal memory. Or if you do a factory data reset then it will get erased and you won't have the file to flash.

LOL, it is good practice to copy the files to your external (if you have the space). I keep a copy of my needed .zips in a folder on my PC. Rooted - If you do a Factory Data Reset from CWM, all of your files will remain in tact.

Actually, it depends on the version you have installed. Solarnz' R4c v 3.2.0.0 custom recovery flashes from the external sdcard. Version 4.0.0.4 from Rom Manager only flashes from the internal "sdcard " and rogue recovery can flash from either.

True, there are other options; however he and I were referring to his current version 4.0.0.4.
and wanting the ability to flash from both the External and Internal
SDcards.
In the process of upgrading ICS ROM's I think I messed up my CWM recovery (3.2.0.1)
I mistakenly formatted staging and pretty much everything else that can be formatted within the mounts and storage part of CWM.
Now recovery cannot see my Micro SDCard, it can't mount it either. Nor can I mount USB storage.
I tried installing the nvflash version of the rogue recovery, then reflashed the older 3.2.0.1 recovery from Roach to see if that would reset things, but I'm still having the same issues with not being able to access my MicroSD card.
I want to stick with this recovery as I don't like having all the various ROM files on the internal card (which is why I bought a 32GB external that I can keep all of the stuff I download from XDA).
So my current attempt is to go back to HC by using the revolver NVFlash, which I am hoping fixes my recovery also.
EDIT: this didn't resolve things for me either!! Argh! Still can't mount the MicroSD card.
If it doesn't, can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks...but for some reason my TF can't mount the MicroSD (external) anymore, whether it's Roach 3.2.0.1 or Team Rogue.
I've nvflashed back to revolver 3.11 HC, and the SD card shows up fine in the ROM, but not in recovery.
Something has gone wrong and I am not sure how to resolve.
I wonder if putting the device completely back to stock (unrooted also) would help?
I would try and format your sd card again on a PC, try sd formatter

Just copy the content of the micro sd card to a pc, format and copy it back.
i was trying to flash to 4.1 today and when i went into CWM and install from zip it said "E: unable to mount /sdcard" i was able to flash by moving the rom to internal storage but even in android it still does not recognize the sd card.

and from some internet searching, it seems to be that when I accidentally told ROM Mngr to install CWM, because I was moving too fast, it installed a version that didn't recognize external storage. I ODIN'd in the CWM Touch and everything is now up to snuff.
So my g2x wasnt mounting my INTERNAL sd memory in CWM so then I reflashed it to the internal nandroid CWM with oneclick tool NOW I can acually mount it on USB and I formatted the internal to FAT32 on my computer there are NO files on it and no ROM is loaded on the phone. I still cannot mount the SD in CWM. Im using CWM 4.0.1 Internal SD nandroid support. PLEASE ive been looking all over.

Use oneclickflasher to flash clockwordmod touch. Install a rom, and format the internal sd. Try seeing if it recognized under cwm touch (remember, when you hit install zip in cwm touch click the option use internal memory)
I advise using clockwork 5.0.2.0. That's the most stable and actually for our phones and not a port.
There have been issues with certain kernels with other recoveries and it's better to be safe than sorry.
I am unable to mount the external SDcard with CWM 6.0.2.7 or any earlier versions. As a result I cannot backup to or restore from the external SDcard. If I boot into CM10.1 the card mounts OK & I can read & write files to it. The same happens if I try a different SDcard. Any ideas what's going on?

Hi,
I have a P3110 with CWM6.0.2.7. I had the same problem. I simply formated my micro-SD card with the tablet, and now I can backup to and restore from my micro-SD card. (I found this somewhere in the forum by searching.)

Thanks for the reply, I had also searched the forum & google but did not find a solution. I cannot mount the SD card in CWM to format it and there doesn't seem to be a way to format it from CM10.1.

Try erasing everything on the m-sd card. Put it in you tablet. Then go to settings>storage>micro sd. and select the option to format it.

CM 10.1 doesn't appear to have this option under Storage settings
Could the reason for CWM not mounting the SD card be that CM10 has different mount points from the stock ROM for the SD card?
Mystery solved! I tried CWM formatting the SD card in my P5100 which has no problems doing CWM backups to external SD cards - and it would not mount. I then dug out a Samsung branded microSD card, stuck it in the P3110 and it worked first time! It's now happily backing up to the external SD. The 2 cards that didn't work were generic and Sandisk. Thanks for the suggestions.
