Wow...the level of hypocrisy on XDA is just astounding. You have people playing the warez police (some of them moderators, some not) in every thread when someone even asks about an app but none of them mention anything about the "tweaks" and "fixes" to get tethering for free which is flat out ripping off the mobile providers (not that I'm crying for Verizon, AT&T, Sprint etc). I get that they have to cover their asses and distributing warez on XDA is not a road they ought to go down, but to **** a brick when somebody links to an article that links to yet another site where an app may be located is just asinine, especially while deliberately overlooking things like unlocking free tethering which is basically theft of service.
Back on topic, I kind of see this as counter-intuitive. As said before, Swype makes more sense because it improves on something we already know how to use vastly. This is like reinventing the wheel. Almost literally.
Everyone referring to warez and hypocrisy, please sh.
Anyway, I kinda agree with yall. The way it works is simple enough, and it doesn't take as long as you'd think to learn where the keys are. Just like swype, it takes time to get used to. Literally with ten minutes I've got it down, just by typing the same couple of words over and over again. The key behind this is that it becomes a muscle memory process of thoughts to words, without the middle ground of a keyboard layout.
I'm still the world's biggest advocate for swype, but I'll sure give this a chance.

Most indeed are just an alternative interface to the normal market. The others are mostly manufacturer or operator specific versions.

Wow... I don't see any problem with posting this, but for real... why the heck do you type like that? I'd rather not read another post of yours formatted in such a way. It's not clever, and it doesn't make you look smart.
I do have to say one thing though. Anyone can make a list of programs, to provide people with something useful however.. that is another task. You give no information about these programs, you give no reference to the authors of these programs, you give no information about where to legitimately acquire these programs.. I would also doubt that all of these vendors want you distributing their software without permissions, even if they are available for free.
If you want people to view your posting as helpful, you may want to reconsider your approach. Format your text in a helpful and organized method (it's not a headline, or a title to a book). Include helpful and concise information about the applications. Provide links (at the very least) to the webpages associated with the applications. etc.

you posted a lot of things here, and the way your OP makes it sound is that these apps (or "Market Alternatives" as you call them), offer apps that you cannot get on the android market. Is this correct? Or are these, in fact, just another place to get the same apps that are on the Android Market??

I totally agree there are a lot of things that could be improved in the stock market, but I'm not going to try all the versions you've posted Can we cross some of the list?

Hey you know all those free and 99 cent apps that Gameloft had during Thanksgiving? Make sure you back up those apks before flashing your phone. I flashed mine back to stock tonight and when I went to the Gameloft site, they had no record of me purchasing anything. Fortunately I remembered I had backed them up previously. My paranoia paid off!
How does that make gameloft a rip-off? The same thing would happen with there full price apps create an account with gameloft if you want them to remember your games

And I did that first - before I ever downloaded anything to begin with.
Fortunately, I have my receipts from Paypal for the 3 games I bought. Opened a case with Gameloft, just to make sure my account gets fixed.
I'm pretty sure that flashing a new firmware to your phone can cause the website to think it is a completely different phone. I had setup an account and this happened to me.
I just emailed them with the list of games that I had downloaded and they sent me on the APKs. No hassle at all. Some of the best customer service that I have had. I had bought 2 games and gotten 1 in a free offer. So I had 2 paypal receipts and they still emailed me on the 3 apk files.
Pretty misleading title since you hadn't actually dealt with them to get the APKs back.

Wish gameloft just used the market because its really annoying having to go to their website.
Gameloft ain't rip offs. In fact they are the best. The problem with order & chaos recently. I sent them an email and gave me the update within the next day, then when I told them the play controls weren't working and could only play it with touch screen they are now giving me 95 runes for the trouble and letting me keep the game. 95 runes is equivalent to £15 as you have to pay to get runes. Now I say that don't sound like rip offs to me. Who looks a fool now ?

Right it looks at the device too. When you buy a game it give you the one for that specific device. Also it knows what games work and don't for each device. Hence why with some devices there are only 21 games or the play has 42 games fir example. So when you go into it on a different fw or Rom it knows that q change has been made and for fraud purposes they have to do that. If you think. I have 4 SE devices. The play, Arc S, X10i and the Ray. Now I bought games for the x10 and when I went onto it on my Arc S it didn't show the games. But.... It does say on there site on the downloads page. Games that you bought for this DEVICE. So why does that make them a potential to be rip offs. I think you need to stop wasting server space and also post in the right section. I.E. The general or Q&A section. Think before making threads like this. If you read it properly on there website it does say what you bought for that device and when changing fw they know. Or everyone could just use my fw and dl my games that I paid for. They need to do that as like I said it is to prevent fraud.

aahahaha. Your the one who is being rude and attacking. I didn't call you names I was just saying. Also this thread is not about apps its about a company so yes it should not be in this thread. So why were any of your comments necessary at ALL, since I had already said what Gameloft did to correct my impression AND say "Sorry Gameloft, you are -not- a ripoff." It's not like I could kill the whole thread at that point. Did you really think your post(s) added anything productive or useful?
Furthermore, Gameloft sells APPS, the APPS in question were previously mentioned in other threads IN THIS SECTION, which was why it made sense to me to post my warning about a POTENTIAL issue with those same apps. Everyone knows that almost nobody ever reads the General or Questions section, because that's where the n00bs ask things like "I just bought an Xperia Play. What should I do now?"
Finally - I concede that the "bite me" and "twit" comments were unnecessary, and I apologize for making them. However, your entire POSTS were unnecessary as well.

Dude. We sorted this out ages ago. But this other guy seems to think it's ok to carry it on. I have asked for a thread closure as I'm sure we both agree it dint need to be open no more as it's just now attention to the trolls and dude there is no need to buy me a beer. Also I will be releasing a Rom soon and I need someone to be a tester for me. So if you want as a special and personal request I want you to be one of my testers and that's you and you only from this thread. Hey guys as many of us are aware, us relying on carriers and handset manufacturers to release os updates is almost pointless. There are many other devices that are ics capable yet won't be upgraded do to carriers and phone manufacturers. What the sgs2 community did was request drivers from qualcomm and they provided. I think with enough community support nvidia will as well. We are one driver away from complete ics goodness, no more crashes or bugs. I searched Google and saw that this community has already contacted nvidia here: http://forums.developer.nvidia.com/devforum/discussion/1726/tegra-2-source-code/p1 and here: http://forums.developer.nvidia.com/devforum/discussion/comment/3236?Sort=popular
So let's group together and work as a team to convince nvidia they will be doing a great service to our community, it will only strengthen their presence in the android community by doing so.
Any developers here have suggestions on persuading nvidia to support us and have them notice us? I think their dev forum is a good start, also social media may help. I wonder how many g2x owners are still out there?
lets make our voices heard and finish what we started.

I don't think our million $ of phone on XDA even matter to nVidia.

Anyways I tried as well way back when asking for drivers for the gTablet as well, Nvidia doesn't care. Hence why I'm going Samsung for phones, and ATI/AMD for graphics on the PC next time.

We hope the open source community can leverage this release for their work on all Tegra devices.

The same issue has been beaten to death on XDA and elsewhere. I am pissed-off that those who newly raise this issue haven't done their homework, they just ignorantly post what has already been dealt with and are using up/wasting bandwidth and storage. The same for others who ask without researching/looking first to determine if the answer to their question exists before they ask. I've stopped answering questions which have been answered many times already. That may be perceived by some as arrogant/harsh/mean/etc. but that's OK, they can keep answering the same questions over and over and over and over and over... again.

I've made many post about this that I wish mods would step in and just conjoin all the "ics" and "f u LG" threads all into one 2000 post thread, the mods barely do anything here.

I posted this here for those interested. If you are not thats your prerogative. Maybe when you find something that is Xperia PLAY optimized you like you will post it for everyone to determine if they like it or not. :laugh:

In case you have not realized... if at any time I find a game that is xperia play optimized I post it here, whether I think it looks worthwhile or not. If you dont like the game you dont have be such a jerk about it. Your negative comments/attacks are not conducive to the spirit of XDA. I will politely ask that you at least try to keep an open mind. You dont like a game.... ok, understandable. Do I play this game that I have shared... nope... but do I share it for those who may find it interesting... you bet. I will not reply to any more of your comments as I do not want my thread to go down as a negative pissing contest. Please respect this thread, those who are interested in this, those who spend time posting their findings. If you cannot abide by this rule, which is not mine but laid down by the XDA Devs I will have you reported. With that in mind, I am returning this thread back to what it was intended for..
