The clear dot left of the grill? - HTC Sensation

Is that single clear dot left of the speaker grill (1mm wide) an led indicator of some sort?
Does anybody know?

Light sensor I believe.
Sent from my Sensation using XDA App

Yes, that would be the light/proximity sensor for things such as auto-brightness and screen blocking during phone calls.

Light sensor. The proximity sensor is underneath it, only visible under direct lights in the black area.

Light near ear speaker? Fuze Raphael

Are there any tiny lights near the ear speaker? I see a clear little light type thing but mine does nto light up. I would have thought I would get different colors like on the 8125.
No lights or am I defective?

yep... light sensor. when you put the phone near your ear, the screen turns off... so you don't accidently "end call" Nice touch!
Also adjusts screen brightness... lower brightness when dark, brighter when light.

[Q] What are they??

On the Captivate by the ear piece there are 2 little, well I don't know what they are look like maybe LED or sensors. Can anyone tell me what these are?
One is a light sensor so the phone can dynamically adjust the brightness of the screen depending on the lighting conditions in the room.
The other is a proximity sensor that prevents accidentally pressing buttons while the phone is being held to your ear.
There ya go.
"smacks head"
I should have guessed that.
Thanks

[Q] Proximity sensor issues

I am having issues with sensor on Desire S. The device will automatically vibrate along with the ring when it is kept in a pocket or something. The problem is that I have purchased a full body cover for it. So even if its kept on table and the device is covered it vibrates along with ring when I get a call. How to avoid this ?
cut/drill a hole in the cover... the sensor is located below the speaker, far on the left. point a very bright light there, and you'll see a small red dot... that's it, and that's where the cover has to be removed...

[Q] Unable to identify component top right on the front of phone. Please help.

Thank you for reading this. It would be greatly be appreciated if someone could point out what part is on the top right of the front of the phone. This is not on the display screen, but is right above it. On the top left is the front facing camera. What about the top right? They appear to be two small circles, similar to lens, When viewing the mentioned two circles, the circle on the left has a more distinguishable small golden/brown circle or mark inside of the lens or right next to it. Hopefully this is not a defect.
Again, any help is much appreciated.

that's 2 sensors. one is for light for auto brightness. which i believe also triggers turning the screen off when you put the phone up to your ear(or maybe that's what the second sensor does)
Is the golden dot in left sensor normal? Or defect any ideas?

As to the golden dot on the "left sensor", is that normal, or is that a defect? It's more distinguishable then the sensor to the right.
Thanks again for your quick reply to my thread.
Hey there, I think everything is fine so first of all relax! You'll be alright guy. The sensors on the right side are for light and proximity (not sure which is which), the light sensor is for tuning the brightness of the screen dependent on your surroundings and the proximity sensor is for the phone to turn off the screen when it's by your ear so you don't press something with your cheek. Can't be 100% sure if theres a defect till you post a pic.
EDIT: The left sensor in the upper right is proximity so the right must be for light.

brightness sensor

Hello !
I believe I understood that there was a "three dimensional" sensor on this phone,
Above the flash I saw a sensor, but for the front face I think there is nothing
In use, I often have the screen that gets too dark, because my hand must hide this sensor, or the rear face directed towards the ground and therefore less light towards this face
Also, if I use my phone flat on a table or desk, it goes to a minimum, which is very disturbing since I like using my device a lot. ?
With the sun, we can see under the panel the fingerprint sensor in the middle of the screen, a small rectangle not very straight, moreover, but also a small circle at the top, where I imagine it Is there a light sensor, am I wrong or someone has some info to confirm this ?
Thanks and good day !
