I heard that android phones is easy to simfree, something like, you only need internet connection for the process... You dont need the tools like some sort of specific hardware and software como like universal box, cyclone box... Any word about this?
Thanks.

Given that your only other post was about changing the IMEI on a non-smartphone (which is highly illegal in most places where there are mobile network providers) I would suggest that you tread very, very carefully
How easy it is to unlock an Android phone all depends on what phone it is. Some are code based, some use software, some use hardware such as the XTC-Clip. None of the above will enable you to change an IMEI though, so don't bother asking for that sort of help on here.

I think is Yes coz android is free opertion system and anyone can do anything coz simple
It's a lot simpler to pay for an unlock code... usually only a few bucks but some cost more (search on eBay or Google)

Wherever I go I get answers like pay someone to do that for you, ppl I WANT TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW, I found this interesting but as I can see I will have to get unlocked device for starters and try that noobish stuff like rooting and upgrading android to newer version LOL.

well i would suggest you research some of the free unlocks for your device , as you haven't said which device i cant help you /
This is my first post I think... So I'm a total noob in that I haven't tweaked any phones before of any type. I've spent probably 20 or so hours in the last few months looking around these forums but due to information overload I'm just gonna bite the bullet and ask about my problem.
Sensation z710e - hboot 1.27 all stock plus OTA updates. No warrenty.
I'm in New Zealand. My phone thinks it's in Taiwan (CID). My GPS sucks and I have read somewhere it's probably looking for Taiwan local satelites and not the ones currently over my head.
There is a system file (read about it elsewhere a while back which I'll have to fnd again) relating to GPS and an area code so it can find the right satelites accurately. Mine quite likely is a few thousand miles off :silly:
I need to edit it. I don't know if I need to change the CID or no. I don't want to flash any roms. Just the bare minimum.
Can someone with experience give me a short list of what to do for this? I got lost as to if I need to s-off and/or root. I like it the way it is I just need it to recognise it's emigrated so I'll likely lock it up again once I've done this. If possible.
Frankly, the more I read in here the more confused I get as most is unrelated to my basic needs. I just want a list of what to do to edit a system file and what order and I can search and find the howtos myself.
ps. If anyone has tips on getting the camera to recognise red as not pink then I'm interested in that too.
There is a free app on the play store called FasterFix that will change those system values for you. It works like a charm IF and ONLY IF that really is your problem.

...which requires root. So that does not answer my real question about what I need to unlock in order to properly do this. And in what order.

Ok. So what about the rest of my question? S-Off yes no? Anything else I'm missing?
Is it really this hard to get a simple list?

Is that your useful suggestion as a "senior member" here? I'm glad I don't offer such technical help in my field of expertise.
I don't care for step-by-step detailed spoon feeding. I asked for a short todo list so I could go work out how to do stuff myself. One sentence could have answered it something like "You need to root your phone, then s-off, then edit file xyz.cfg and change the CID". Then I'd know what to go search for. I suspect its something similar to that but I am unsure and unwilling to screw up my phone by doing unnecessary things.
I'd already tried FasterFix before you suggested it and discovered that, as my original statement suggests, my phone can't use it until I alter it. Which is why I asked what I actually need to do. You might as well have told me to flash a ROM knowing full well my phone isn't rooted.
I would actually be grateful if someone answered the original question. I know this community can do better than this or I wouldn't have come here for help.
Perhaps you'd like to root your phone 1st so that you'll be able to unlock more capabilities of tweaking it? You may wanna head down to this thread and check it out -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553
This will help. It's everything you need to do. Please follow this guide. Best wishes hope this helps.

Rooted and s-off. I still don't know if I needed to s-off as that question was not answered, so I did it anyway. Possibly overkill.
Tweaked the gps.conf manually (fasterfix gave me only a black screen so it's useless) and after reboot got a fix of 7 satelites within seconds. As opposed to before where I got about 4 usually and a fix taking several minutes, if at all, and not being very accurate.

S-off will really help you.. If you want to restore back to stock in case you are running custom roms.. And it makes these things easy
Now regarding the gps fix you did..
Care to explain what guide you used for manually tweaking the gps? Is this the one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17081413?
Or did you flashed the agps patch? (in sensation dev section I think)

I did see that guide and used the link in it to find my server but since half the contents in that guide weren't in my gps.conf I started by just replacing the american server line with nz.pool.ntp.org. As I had already assumed, it wasn't using a local server.
The option was there to add the other stuff if that didn't work but that simple little step sped things up a lot. And since I didn't know what half the other options did I chose to not put them in.
If there's anything specific I can add to further increase GPS accuracy/speed then I'm open to suggestions.
I don't plan on running any custom roms which is why I wanted to know what steps were actually needed since everyone gives instructions assuming it's all about the roms.
Hello readers, I am a cyber forensic developer and analyst.
While looking over automatic rooting softwares and websites I came across 2 programmes that installed smpt keyloggers to the system directory.
I am yet to analyse how it works [Will be updated when I do]
Till than please make sure don't use any auto rooting software.
For rooting please refer to our xda friends and developers who has posted several rooting methods through odin and a root file along with a custom recovery.

I am yet to analyse those files.
I captured two outgoing files,
1. Keylog068.file
2. PhoneGal.file
keylog seems like a text file but it is encrypted.
I cannot link them to the rooting websites and softwares unless I am positive about the threat.
Please report the link or program used to root... Otherwise downloading programs outside of XDA come with malware pre-installed. Try using methods to root any tablet/phone from known sources specially rooting software found within XDA itself.

As this is a developers site it might be handy to share the suspect programs.
So others could help in decrypting, and/or check for malware.
But thanks for sharing this information anyway, and goodluck on your efforts! :good:

First thanks for the allert. For this First step I give you 50% of an A. Why? Because you need to Post All Important Info. What you have done is useless.
It is not wrong to point out Possible or Unverified Threats to our security, since this is a mayor risk. It may compare to having some knowledge that a possible murder will be soon or in progress! You do not wait for the murder to happen just to say later that you where just concern!.
But what you have done worth nothing without the knowledge of the NAME of what program you are referring. Nobody else can confirm or denied without Program NAME. Clearly you are not sure. So in your statement, just clearly Express your Concerned. And Clearly say as you did that the info needs to be verified. Then ASK others to Verify your findings.
What you are doing will cause the opposite effect, . As Single accuser you will get back some comments.
Last, if it is a false alarm, you will see the owners of those APPs giving explanations !
Without mentioning the two rooting apps, this is an idiotic thread just spreads paranoia.
I was going to room my daughter's tab until I read this thread.
Which software should I be avoiding? If you suspect it, and can't prove it, why not just list it here so users like myself can avoid it and/or the developers can explain themselves.
Right now, am I to avoid all rooting software?
I vote this thread the most rediculous thread so far for 2014.
Go ahead and root guys. If there was an issue it would be all over the net by now. Don't listen to one tinfoiled hat guys tomfoolery.

You can root via custom recoveries and root files, its considered safe.
I will post an update today on my findings
I don't get why people would use software to root their device.
It's much more fun to do it yourself.

Im sorry for your lack of imagination/empathy then.
But i dont always have the time (ie patience) to do it all myself.
And lets be honest nowadays everything has to be easy, people dont want to think for themselves anymore.
You can see that in the forums as lot's of easy/simple/dumb questions being asked. (without searching so the questions is not new).
I could go on, as its an irritating factor for me, dumb people...

Here's what I don't understand. Why are you not telling us the suspect apps? You can report more findings when you get em. Until you state actual names or links to the apps you are being disregarded by many. If it's something on xda that's causing this and you are dickin the dog on telling us, you have lost all credibility...

I'm willing to help anyone who isn't too lazy to write more than a one line "description" of their problem. It goes without saying that as much relevant information as possible is needed, surely that's common sense. All it takes is to be bothered to look at a couple of threads here on XDA to realise that. The very least I could do is nothing, which is probably what a one line description deserves, but I did actually hint at the need to provide more information.

Then, if you're not interested, don't do anything. Ignore threads/people like this and let all the crap from these lazy people pile on and delete them later on. Tl;dr you can't just simply expect everyone to follow all the rules...nonetheless, teach themselves.

Yes I've dropped it a few times, but the problem didn't occur immediately after, so I don't think that the hardware is damaged. I'm running the latest cyanogenmod 11 nightly, hboot 2.14. Also sometimes when I turn it on the touch screen doesn't work at all, restarting the phone fixes that issue, however.

I absolutely can and do expect everyone to follow the rules, because it's those rules that people need to agree to when signing up for this site. Don't have a go at me for voicing frustrating at somebody else not doing the right thing, that's completely backwards. One wouldn't go to a doctor and simply say "I'm unwell" without giving any further information, that analogy applies here too.

You should try running an RUU. If the problem persists you most likely have a hardware issue.
