I'm willing to help anyone who isn't too lazy to write more than a one line "description" of their problem. It goes without saying that as much relevant information as possible is needed, surely that's common sense. All it takes is to be bothered to look at a couple of threads here on XDA to realise that. The very least I could do is nothing, which is probably what a one line description deserves, but I did actually hint at the need to provide more information.

Then, if you're not interested, don't do anything. Ignore threads/people like this and let all the crap from these lazy people pile on and delete them later on. Tl;dr you can't just simply expect everyone to follow all the rules...nonetheless, teach themselves.

Yes I've dropped it a few times, but the problem didn't occur immediately after, so I don't think that the hardware is damaged. I'm running the latest cyanogenmod 11 nightly, hboot 2.14. Also sometimes when I turn it on the touch screen doesn't work at all, restarting the phone fixes that issue, however.

I absolutely can and do expect everyone to follow the rules, because it's those rules that people need to agree to when signing up for this site. Don't have a go at me for voicing frustrating at somebody else not doing the right thing, that's completely backwards. One wouldn't go to a doctor and simply say "I'm unwell" without giving any further information, that analogy applies here too.

You should try running an RUU. If the problem persists you most likely have a hardware issue.

So right now were trying to make sure that the future of HTC's phones dont get knocked out because of the encrypted bootloader they are trying to force upon us so im just writing this to you all to make sure that the XDA members know whats going on and I was wondering if you all can help us out, these are the details:
right now i'm sure your aware of what is going on in HTC's facebook page and i wanted to know if you
would read up on what is going on and show that everyone is wanting this to be unlocked.
This first link is the petition that were all signing to show to HTC that we are wanting this:
http://www.groubal.com/htc-bootloade...nd/#signatures
We want more to know about it so i was reaching out to all of you right now.
this second link is the conversation that a member who started this had with a sprint rep on facebook, it shows that sprint is not the one responsible for the locked bootloader and that they are not trying to push for it.
https://www.facebook.com/sprint/posts/156658601067283
This last link is just what xda is thinking of it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1094914
we know that they made a statement but we want to make sure that they know that we all want this to be unlocked
So pass this along and let everyone know what is happening! thanks for your help!
The links are dead. I think this is a bogus post. Admins, please review and close this thread if it is.

No surprise with future HTC phones getting locked and/or encrypted BLs. Pressure from carriers are finally getting to HTC.
Someone from XDA will crack 'em.

Seems like sprint isn't pushing this on them though, based on what i've seen with this info it seems its HTC's part here that they want to protect their Sense UI most likely. but you can help and try to change the future because that's not something i want and i'm sure no one in xda wants this either

It appears that you cut the links from another post wherein the tag get's abbreviated (the ellipsis in the middle) but the actual href is valid. You should always right click the link and "copy address" (or however it appears in your browser) instead of selecting the text directly.

A few threads have been removed the past few hours. These are regarding a leaked radio which is known to brick devices and has been taken from a compromised server.
Reposting will not be tolerated. Distribution through PM, or even hinting that you may be available to spread it through PM or other methods, will be treated as open reposting. "Vacations" will be dealt out to those who do so.
This is both for your own good as for the good of others. Some of you are able to read between the lines - I have read it in your posts - and good for you.
Have patience, it will come.
if you build it they will come...

bamf team is coming out with a new sense 3.0 rom(there is a preview zip available in the bamf 2 beta thread) so im guessing there is something coming soon, he seemed to stop once the brick issue came about, so why else would they and others update and create new roms for GB radios.
It wont brink you, its just to protect sources and legal issues probably. Im using it and its much better than the first leak, only got one reboot in the few hours my phone was on

The fact that we have an MR2 Radio means GB could be right around the corner. I have had one reboot with it, (although that might have been a fluke, as the phone had 3% battery left), and so far it is very stable, and I wouldn't be surprised to see an official build out soon.
This is my first post I think... So I'm a total noob in that I haven't tweaked any phones before of any type. I've spent probably 20 or so hours in the last few months looking around these forums but due to information overload I'm just gonna bite the bullet and ask about my problem.
Sensation z710e - hboot 1.27 all stock plus OTA updates. No warrenty.
I'm in New Zealand. My phone thinks it's in Taiwan (CID). My GPS sucks and I have read somewhere it's probably looking for Taiwan local satelites and not the ones currently over my head.
There is a system file (read about it elsewhere a while back which I'll have to fnd again) relating to GPS and an area code so it can find the right satelites accurately. Mine quite likely is a few thousand miles off :silly:
I need to edit it. I don't know if I need to change the CID or no. I don't want to flash any roms. Just the bare minimum.
Can someone with experience give me a short list of what to do for this? I got lost as to if I need to s-off and/or root. I like it the way it is I just need it to recognise it's emigrated so I'll likely lock it up again once I've done this. If possible.
Frankly, the more I read in here the more confused I get as most is unrelated to my basic needs. I just want a list of what to do to edit a system file and what order and I can search and find the howtos myself.
ps. If anyone has tips on getting the camera to recognise red as not pink then I'm interested in that too.
There is a free app on the play store called FasterFix that will change those system values for you. It works like a charm IF and ONLY IF that really is your problem.

Is that your useful suggestion as a "senior member" here? I'm glad I don't offer such technical help in my field of expertise.
I don't care for step-by-step detailed spoon feeding. I asked for a short todo list so I could go work out how to do stuff myself. One sentence could have answered it something like "You need to root your phone, then s-off, then edit file xyz.cfg and change the CID". Then I'd know what to go search for. I suspect its something similar to that but I am unsure and unwilling to screw up my phone by doing unnecessary things.
I'd already tried FasterFix before you suggested it and discovered that, as my original statement suggests, my phone can't use it until I alter it. Which is why I asked what I actually need to do. You might as well have told me to flash a ROM knowing full well my phone isn't rooted.
I would actually be grateful if someone answered the original question. I know this community can do better than this or I wouldn't have come here for help.
Perhaps you'd like to root your phone 1st so that you'll be able to unlock more capabilities of tweaking it? You may wanna head down to this thread and check it out -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1632553

Rooted and s-off. I still don't know if I needed to s-off as that question was not answered, so I did it anyway. Possibly overkill.
Tweaked the gps.conf manually (fasterfix gave me only a black screen so it's useless) and after reboot got a fix of 7 satelites within seconds. As opposed to before where I got about 4 usually and a fix taking several minutes, if at all, and not being very accurate.

S-off will really help you.. If you want to restore back to stock in case you are running custom roms.. And it makes these things easy
Now regarding the gps fix you did..
Care to explain what guide you used for manually tweaking the gps? Is this the one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17081413?
Or did you flashed the agps patch? (in sensation dev section I think)

I did see that guide and used the link in it to find my server but since half the contents in that guide weren't in my gps.conf I started by just replacing the american server line with nz.pool.ntp.org. As I had already assumed, it wasn't using a local server.
The option was there to add the other stuff if that didn't work but that simple little step sped things up a lot. And since I didn't know what half the other options did I chose to not put them in.
If there's anything specific I can add to further increase GPS accuracy/speed then I'm open to suggestions.
I don't plan on running any custom roms which is why I wanted to know what steps were actually needed since everyone gives instructions assuming it's all about the roms.
I noticed this today and figured I would create a new post so that many of us who are sick of being messed around by Google who simply refuse to acknowledge the issue, can actually do something about it.
The only way big companies like Google actually do anything is when it becomes public. They hope that they can just sit out the warranty period and then brush it all under the carpet. If you are frustrated and think that they owe you a simple software fix (this is agreed to be the most likely culprit affecting the noise cancellation mic), then put your voice where it's heard and have them fix your phone so that it actually works the way it should have from the start! It's pretty clear that in the 'L' preview the issue still exists, which essentially means they don't intend to do a thing about it.
https://www.change.org/p/google-fix-microphone-issues-on-nexus-5-phones
Or sit back and let them screw you over for $400 and take your money for a new phone.

i just pointed it out to jd1639, im staying out of it past that. that removes the majority of the posts there, in one shot
Anything that makes this phone even better is worth supporting. Best of luck.
The point is LG doesn't know how to perfect the Noise cancellation algorithm
Look @ their G2 and G3 same issue
The post was simply to give the numerous people with this issue a potential avenue for a fix. I didn't mean for this to be a debate.
Change.org does some pretty good things, and raising public awareness of a major company who is absolutely trying to ignore an issue that most of the support people know about when you call is just wrong.
Sign the petition,or don't. If you have a problem with the phone then you most likely will be interested.
Thanks.
You have to use the report button if you want it closed. Unlikely anyone will see your link if you let it die.

Like I said most users won't attempt it. To say the answer is no is false. There is a way it's just very technical. I gave the info and the OP can do with it as he pleases. I have no idea of the OP's skill level nor would I assume everyone asking the question is incapable of such a thing. To say we should all agree is pretty arrogant. It's a big forum and we all should have our own ideas about what info we chose to convey.
I do see your point, I just don't agree with it. Knowledge is power or so they say. You've got a lot of knowledge and I respect you for that. I have some as well. I chose to share it even though it most likely won't work for the OP. Sorry for the mini rant I just hate being told what I should or shouldn't do.

I do see your point, I just don't agree with it. Knowledge is power or so they say. You've got a lot of knowledge and I respect you for that. I have some as well. I chose to share it even though it most likely won't work for the OP. Sorry for the mini rant I just hate being told what I should or shouldn't do.

Well I'm just saying the answer to anyone who ASKS the question is no. Because if they had the tools and skill set to do it, they wouldn't need to ask and if they need to ask, they haven't got the tools or skill set to do it, so I don't think "no" is false. Going by your logic, the answer to almost every question couldn't be "no".
Examples:
- Is it possible to un-brick a bricked device?
- Is it possible to run 4.3 on my N5
- Is it possible to unlock LTE bands
- Is it possible to get T-mobile WiFi Calling?
- Is it possible to get Voice on Verizon
That said, it's actually not been proven on the N5 so far as I am aware either.
I'm not telling you what to do. "We should" is not an order or instruction. It is what we *should do*
...and I do take massive offence to you calling my statement arrogant. How I can I be arrogant about something that I myself do not possess the skills to do? If I could do it and thought others couldn't because I was "better" than them, sure that's arrogance. Also if I assumed that because I couldn't do it, they couldn't either - that too would be arrogant. But that is not the case here. The work is very specialist. To do means you are that specialist. A data recovery specialist doesn't come to XDA and ask "wannabes" such as us how to recover data. That's not a sweeping generalisation either. It is logic.

The arrogance came from expecting me and others to "agree" to say no. It wasn't meant to be offensive so don't take it as such. More to make you aware of how it came across, to me at least. We could go on and debate this for days but I've said what I had to say. If you'd like to continue it please shoot me a PM. You still have my respect for all the time you spend helping people on these forums and I hope you don't take any of this personally. Have a good night man.
I'm not going to pm you because my pm box is shut.
I'll just say one last thing. I never *expected * anything. *should* was not an instruction as I've already said so please apologise for the "arrogance" statement and we're all good - because yes, I do take it personally. I am a person after all

No worries man. I'm having a very long week at work and just re-read everything. I apologize for the misunderstanding and using arrogant in my replies. I know you're just looking out for the forum.

Thanks Dude. I know you didn't have to apologise, but it means a lot to me that you took the time out of your bad week to do so. It did hurt me because unlike most, I really do care what people think about me - for my sins. I have moved on now, so thank you again so much!
Edit > now I feel bad haha
