I am using NSCollab 1.0.39 on my Nexus S I9020
I have a Matr1x kernel which supports Voodoo sound and colour
But when I check the Voodoo control app there is no option for colour
I know other people have had the same problem but I spent the last few hours searching and finally found nothing :/
Help?
Thanks in advance
Nexus S
Does the kernel you have already include the pre 2.2.3 colors? If so, you do not get the sliders to manually adjust colors as it is set to a specific color setting already.

If you can't adjust any sliders you probably have a kernel with 2.3.2 color drivers. The color sliders are for users to correct the mess 2.3.3 made. Personally, I'd take that as a win

Are you using an slcd phone? Its only for samoled

I'm not exactly sure if it's just me, but after the 2.3.4 update which I received today the colors on the screen look really bad. By bad I mean, worse than a traditional LCD. It was most noticeable when I looked at the galaxy live wallpaper the phone comes with. I could clearly see some sort of strangle blurry outline and a random dividing line. I think Google might have made the color quality worse. Like taking it from 32 bit color to 24 or 16. Also, color transitions on gradients are anything but smooth. Wtf happened, Google?

Follow-up: video quality on YouTube is also a lot worse. I can't tell if this is because of the screen or if it's some software issue.

Is this one the SAMOLED or the SLCD version?
Because i can't see any difference from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 on my SLCD Nexus S

SAMOLED. I probably should've mentioned that I never received 2.3.3. I went from 2.3.2

There was a color change update in 2.3.3. You can use a voodoo-based kernel like netarchy to modify the color settings.

Can you post the link on the " how to" ?
Not to sound like an ass but try using search function
kernels are in dev section were they should be FYI the one you are looking for is on first p[age
also tutorials stickied in every sub forum
like said earlier its software not hardware the screen is fine use voodoo
also countless threads that discuss this

And yes Google trained wrecked the colors....

I went from 2.3.2 to 2.3.4 yesterday and totally hate the look of the new colors on my Nexus S screen. I could care less if it is more accurate color scheme because I'm not using this device to edit photos.
The Nexus S screen just doesn't pop like it did before.
My LCD TV at home is tweaked so it is visually stimulating for movies and games at home which is probably not accurate to real life but makes viewing more pleasant.
I personally like a cooler color scheme myself, but now on my Nexus S, I'm stuck with this boring washed out warmer color scheme unless I root.
I guess I need to just bite the bullet and root my phone since I'm sure Google won't be changing this back.

If you don't want to root your phone, you can just install a modified kernel that allows for Voodoo Controls.
I upgraded my nexus by installing the 2.3.3 update, then 2 seconds later installed the 2.3.4 update. My colores were good on 2.3.2, dull on 2.3.3 and then good again with 2.3.4..
My buddy on the other hand went from 2.3.2 to 2.3.4 and his colors are off and dull.. We downgraded back to 2.3.2, followed my upgrade path and then his colors were good..
I'm assuming for those who never got 2.3.3, that when they installed 2.3.4, the color correction want needed, in turn, screwing up the colors..

not the case. my SAMOLED Nexus S got the 2.3.2 update, and the 2.3.3 update and the 2.3.4 update. colours went to crap with the 2.3.2 update and have continued being crap on 2.3.4.
Google updated the display drivers and changed the color temp in 2.3.3 update. That is the only time colors have changed.
DOWNGRADED,absolutely horrible ...

Colors are really too ugly. I understand not Google.
My friend just got her Captivate screen repaired because it wasn't responding. When she showed me her new screen there were some visible improvements. It seemed a bit crisper and mine was tinted yellow compared to hers. I think im going to go get my screen changed!

Try to get the rogers screen if you do. It says samsung at the top and nothing down by the buttons.
are you running a custom kernel? cuz some kernels with voodoo colour change the colouration of the screen, to fix it up, just download voodoo colour from the market and change the colour settings (only if u have a custom kernel)

It's voodoo control app. It handles voodoo sound and color. Also if you want you can buy the paid version and support a great dev for galaxy s community. If your strapped for cash that's fine too. It's what this beautiful community is for

I think its only available for SAMOLED...
SLCD doesn't need calibration since it doesn't have a tint.

If my memory serves me correct, Voodoo Colors is only needed for S-AMOLED screens.

Hey all,
I can't find voodoo color in the voodoo control plus app... anyone an idea how that is possible... I have Air Kernel flashed, which should have voodoo sound and color... only sound is showing up.... please help me, because I'm really curious what it will look like!!
Is it possible that it will never work, because I have an i9023 with an SLCD screen?

yup, voodoo color is only for samoled screens.
I've been looking around and have not found the answer to my question anywhere. So here is my question. I'm sitting here looking at my vzw galaxy s3 right next to my vzw gnexus. And the whites look so much whiter on the nexus. Granted on the nexus I'm using francos kernel and have the color conteol tweaks going but I didn't think I would need to tweak the s3. I would have never noticed If i didn't put the phones side by side showing the same exact thing. . Otherwise this screen on the s3 is absolutely beautiful. But I can't seem to find a kernel for the s3 that offers color tweaking like on the nexus. Does anyone know of an app or kernel that offers these options. Thank u in advance.

I have been following the Trinity kernel thread by Morific and his app has/will have color tweaks enabled for the GSIII once he enables it in his kernel. I haven't purchased it just yet but based on a couple user's posts, the color adjustment side of that app was enabled for the GNex. That's what I'm basing this info on, the thread is in our Original Development.

Thank you for your response. I do own the Trinity app. I really hope he integrates the color controls into the gs3. Just curious. Has anyone else noticed this. My buddy has a gs3 and his whites look just like mine so I don't think I have a lemon.

I notice this, too. The whites have a bit of yellow to them.
Yes exactly. A slight yellow tint. Tgr gbex used to have it too with the stock kernel. Guess we just have to wait for one of our amazing kernel devs to fix this. Wish I knew how so I could contribute.

No problem man, I'm actually interested in seeing what color adjustment are about. This is the first phone I've had where that was potentially possible. In the last few weeks I've noticed yellowing on parts of my screen but only with select colors, I notice yellow mainly towards the bottom of my phone in various greys when viewed at angles. Is this what y'all are referring too? I notice it a lot when using the xda app cuz one half of the main categories across the top are lighter than the other half when I hold my phone in landscape.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes exactly what u are talking about. Actually the xda app is what I used to compare to with my galaxy nexus. Ive only had the s3 a few days now but I bought my GNEX on launch day. And with the GNEX I noticed the colors got worse over time. As soon as I started using the color tweaks it made my GNEX look like a brand new phone. I'm patiently waiting for these options on the S3
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Likewise, I'm all for learning about this and reaping the benefits. In your experience with the GNex, would you use the TKT app to adjust the brightness across various kernels by other devs or was brightness control limited to just that kernel it was bundled with? I've only ever used SetCPU so these brightness controls using kernel apps are new to me.
On the GNEX I used francos app or ezeekels app depending on which kernel I was running. I never used set CPU for color control. To tell u the truth I didn't even know set CPU had that option.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
What I meant was I have only used SetCPU to control my kernels in regards to clock speed. Using these kernel dev branded kernel apps (or anything really) to also control color adjustment are something I'm unfamiliar with. The last version of SetCPU that I used, v2.x, didn't have that so you're correct about that.
I appreciate the clarity about which kernel app to use.
