I've been looking around and have not found the answer to my question anywhere. So here is my question. I'm sitting here looking at my vzw galaxy s3 right next to my vzw gnexus. And the whites look so much whiter on the nexus. Granted on the nexus I'm using francos kernel and have the color conteol tweaks going but I didn't think I would need to tweak the s3. I would have never noticed If i didn't put the phones side by side showing the same exact thing. . Otherwise this screen on the s3 is absolutely beautiful. But I can't seem to find a kernel for the s3 that offers color tweaking like on the nexus. Does anyone know of an app or kernel that offers these options. Thank u in advance.
Sent from me
I have been following the Trinity kernel thread by Morific and his app has/will have color tweaks enabled for the GSIII once he enables it in his kernel. I haven't purchased it just yet but based on a couple user's posts, the color adjustment side of that app was enabled for the GNex. That's what I'm basing this info on, the thread is in our Original Development.

Thank you for your response. I do own the Trinity app. I really hope he integrates the color controls into the gs3. Just curious. Has anyone else noticed this. My buddy has a gs3 and his whites look just like mine so I don't think I have a lemon.

I notice this, too. The whites have a bit of yellow to them.
Yes exactly. A slight yellow tint. Tgr gbex used to have it too with the stock kernel. Guess we just have to wait for one of our amazing kernel devs to fix this. Wish I knew how so I could contribute.

No problem man, I'm actually interested in seeing what color adjustment are about. This is the first phone I've had where that was potentially possible. In the last few weeks I've noticed yellowing on parts of my screen but only with select colors, I notice yellow mainly towards the bottom of my phone in various greys when viewed at angles. Is this what y'all are referring too? I notice it a lot when using the xda app cuz one half of the main categories across the top are lighter than the other half when I hold my phone in landscape.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
Yes exactly what u are talking about. Actually the xda app is what I used to compare to with my galaxy nexus. Ive only had the s3 a few days now but I bought my GNEX on launch day. And with the GNEX I noticed the colors got worse over time. As soon as I started using the color tweaks it made my GNEX look like a brand new phone. I'm patiently waiting for these options on the S3
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Likewise, I'm all for learning about this and reaping the benefits. In your experience with the GNex, would you use the TKT app to adjust the brightness across various kernels by other devs or was brightness control limited to just that kernel it was bundled with? I've only ever used SetCPU so these brightness controls using kernel apps are new to me.
On the GNEX I used francos app or ezeekels app depending on which kernel I was running. I never used set CPU for color control. To tell u the truth I didn't even know set CPU had that option.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
What I meant was I have only used SetCPU to control my kernels in regards to clock speed. Using these kernel dev branded kernel apps (or anything really) to also control color adjustment are something I'm unfamiliar with. The last version of SetCPU that I used, v2.x, didn't have that so you're correct about that.
I appreciate the clarity about which kernel app to use.

I'm trying to get an auto-rotate animation like.. well.. the iPhone. I've been reading a few threads but nothing for the G2x.
I don't think anything but devices with the Motorola Applications Platform have it.
Unless you've seen something else?
Nope. Haven't seen anything like it but was hoping it was possible.

You do realize that the animations actually slow down Auto-Rotate...
Yeah. I don't mind waiting an extra second.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
If anyone know a dev that could help that'd be great. I know Android is about efficiency and being snappy but I'd like to get a little animation with it. Thanks.

I second the OP.
Well, I think I've seen it on Honeycomb 3.0 Tablets... So I'd search around on the Tablet forums.

One more thing.. I really know zip about developing or themes but I just need the signal bars like the one in the leaked ICS picture. Pretty much honeycomb signal bars but cyan since I use cyanbread. I want the battery to stay the same.

If you wouldn't mind, could you please send me a copy of your SystemUI.apk so I could try to add the Signal bars... I'll try my best, no promises though.

Overall I'm definitely loving this phone
One thing I've noticed is that in a dark room this phone is ridiculously bright on auto
And that the high level of brightness are causing a little bit of color washout
Swype worked initially, I switched keyboards and then switched back now it shows up half the size it should be
(Another thing I hadn't realized is how many apps wouldn't be coded for ics yet, looking for native ics app suggestions)
(Also is there a way to make the battery in the notification bar have a percentage)
Is anyone else having these issues?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
I agree with you on the brightness. Once we have the bootloader unlocked there are ways to change the auto brightness sensitivity. Same with the battery %.
The swype issue is an issue with the swype beta. I have already posted on their forums reporting the bug.
As for apps, they're being updated for ICS slowly but surely. Be patient

No I haven't seen that thread.
Swype alternatives? Nothing is quite the same as Swype, but Swiftkey X is pretty damn good for standard touch typing.
Idk I just find it surprising that even huge apps ex. Facebook haven't been updated yet. Then again barely any devices have ics so......

Actually the default keyboard is swipe enabled. I actually like it better because the auto correct seems to be more accurate. It had its flaws but it is great for swipe and touch typing whereas swype sucks for touch typing.

Just an fyi, if you use notification toggles, you get not only the toggles but you can also set the app icon in the status bar to show battery with percent . It's kinda a bandaid for now but it works for me till we can get some custom Rom goodness.

which is weird, but then again other apps have darker blues
anyone elses facebook app (across the top bar) look like brighter then it should?
MOD EDIT: DO NOT FLASH THE FILE IN THAT ARTICLE, IT IS FOR INTERNATIONAL S3 ONLY!
I can't wait to see what the ROM devs do with this!
Includes some of the non hardware based goodies that the S4 has.
" New features include a familiar array of lock screen widgets and unlock effects, new display modes, a re-tooled quick settings area in the notification pull-down, a new driving mode and an updated version of the S Voice assistant app. Some of the headline Galaxy S4 features like "Air view" hover-touch abilities aren't included -- that's because they're dependent on the S4's internal hardware."

I'm pretty sure that everyone knows that already. Although thank you for pointing it out.
While AOSP is more cutting edge, I like simple functions like Bluetooth volume working correctly as it does on TW.

I have it on my other S3, along with ktoonsez's kernel. While the volume seems to be acceptable, I still get the static and clicking every now and then.
This post is not to compare TW with AOSP, some do like TW based roms.

I'm saying ktoonz does have a tw version of his kernel if that's what you prefer. You could try using the ViPER4Android app and mess with the settings to clean that up. I'm sure someone in that thread could point you to good settings. In not sure if fauxsound amplifies BT, but you could try that as well.

Just wanted to point you in the right direction to fix your Bluetooth issue either through ktoonz's touchwiz kernel, fauxsound app, or ViPER4Android app. You may need to tweak the settings a bit to your liking as i don't know how severe your issue is. Could be the phone hardware, a software issue, a rom issue, or the Bluetooth headset itself causing it. It's not something that's easy to troubleshoot online. Sorry if i lost you, I'm a bit sleep deprived. Sorry if I was vague or rude. On that note, bedtime. Hope you get your issue resolved.

I've never had the Bluetooth issue with a TW ROM, only AOSP.
Thank you for the insight though. Get some rest.
So once the International version gets the official update, we can probably expect to see it 3 or 4 months later thanks to Verizon.
I just read that article and watched the video. Looks like aosp but with a few design tweaks. It would be nice if they just fixed the keyboard in the update. Ha

I wish Verizon would leak more updates. Other phones I have had in the past had new roms almost every week. The Galaxy S3 has been a big disappointment in factory updates, released hardware, and support. Once Samsung neglected to release a decent wireless charge option and Verizon cold shouldered its users, I don't think I'll go back to Samsung. I miss my HTC.

I was looking into inductive charging. Verizon apparently offers a cover....but I can't find it.
Ha and yea the Verizon variant might see this update in September or November and it will most likely have all the cool things removed.....it's almost like they want everyone to root their phones

I apologize if this has been asked, I didn't find it on a search.
I can't recall the last time that I didn't have a rooted phone. I want to try out the nexus out of box for a bit before rooting, but I was wondering if I can change the DPI on a non rooted phone. I hate using stock phones where I feel like an old blind person from his big the words are.
Also, I have never owned a nexus. Since it's stock android, no bloatware from carriers, what are the benefits to rooting a Nexus? I've never messed with the clocking of the phones. I mainly enjoyed it for customization and DPI.
It may seem like dumb questions but while I may not be tech dumb I'm no dev!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
To my knowledge, it is impossible to change the DPI - or pretty much anything - without first rooting or flashing a custom firmware.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
The stock OS has options under Display and also Accessibility to raise the size of display fonts. You may find this more satisfactory than changing the DPI, as the latter can screw up app interfaces.

I would say rooting a Nexus is like rooting any device.
You are open to many more possibilities android has to offer. As you've rooted before you know that already
But since you wrote that you've only done so for certain customisation reasons then there's a lot more you can learn if you want to.
I for one need root at least. Keep it stock image but rooted is a bare minimum.

I would at least unlock the bootloader first, so that you do not have to worry about data loss when you do root.

If you ever handle a device with a really good display, you'll find the S3 to be rather lacking in accuracy (especially in whites) and tough on the eyes.

Before this week, I was using the "cold" display temperature setting in SlimKat but that's gone in favor of gamma controls. I don't really understand how to enable it though. I agree, the S3 display is aight but I haven't had the misfortune of looking at a better display yet .
