Take the battery out, hold volume down and press power holding volume still
Pull out battery and replace. Then hold vol down button in and switch phone on. Otherwise go to Settings/Power and untick Fastboot. Then switch phone off, hold in vol down and switch on again.

Turn off the phone.
Take out the battery for 1-2 seconds and put it back in.
Hold volume down while pressing the power button.
Phone should now boot into Hboot mode. You can tell what version of Hboot and whether or not it's secured or not by looking at the top line.
It looks like the hboot interface hasn't really changed since the original G1.
You can also just go menu settings power and turn off fastboot then power off normally and boot in to hboot normal

if you're already running a custom ROM like CyanogenMod or AOKP, then hold the power button, choose restart, and choose bootloader. once it boots up into the white screen with some text, use the volume keys to move up and down, and the power key to select, and select the first option. should take you to Hboot.
but honestly the best way to get right to hboot is completely shut the phone down (or pull batter), and hold the volume down, and WHILE STILL HOLDING, press the power button. never failed for me.

in adb run this command: adb reboot bootloader
If I don't take the battery out first, hit vol down and power button, nothing happens. When I release them, it will boot normally.
Is there an easy way to get into recovery mode?
Disable fastboot under settings -> power

That was checked. "Turn off to use some market apps".
Unchecked it. Then when you power off, it actually powers off and you can enter recovery.

Great! Thanks. Just curious, "turn off to use some mkt apps". What apps can be used when the phone is off?
im not really sure because i had a stock recovery since the 2.3.4 update but cant you just do it in rom manager?
I'm rooted, unlocked, & ran the clock work recovery tool. My only question is I can not enter boatloader mode using the power button & volume down key. Phone just always just shuts off. Any suggestions ? Thnx

app called quickboot
To get to the bootloader, you have to hold the volume down button then power. Hold it til the bottom 3 buttons stop flashing. Then release the power button while still holding the vol down button.
Yea didnt want the app. Thanks just wasn't letting go of power button at proper time.

App works fine and its easier it was a suggestion
adb reboot bootloader
Friend has a HTC Sensation on T-Mobile and is having software problems. I suggested factory wiping and wiping cache in recovery.

go to boot loader ...
(power off phone ,remove battery,re insert it ,then hold volume down + power )
from there browse to recovery using vol up/down buttons and select recovery using power button
once you enter recovery ..you will have a red triangle ..if its stock ...then do a three finger salute (press vol up,down and power at once)..then you will get some options
Thank you sir!!
Also another question, is there a way to reboot (restart) the phone natively on stock? My friend is running the Official ICS OTA if that makes a difference. Or is turning off the phone and back on manually the only way? Lol.

That's it? Hold the power for 15 seconds and then try to get into fastboot.

That helped!
Note that fastboot is just power & volume down.
Not both volume buttons

Note that if your phone turned off, just hold down only volume down key and connect usb cable then your phone goes to fastboot as well

Actually, holding both vol's and power will get you into the bootloader too. Seems there are two bootloaders.
