Undervolting the Inspire - HTC Inspire 4G

So I'm still new too most of this but have tried a bunch of ROMs, flashed countless radios and RILs, gps fixes, gps hardware fix, and I use SetCPU for underclocking (mostly). But I've been reading that undervolting can help save battery life quite a bit. The problem is I don't know where to start looking to do this. Saw there was something by killersloth to do it, but cant find a link that works to get it.
I thought it could be done through SetCPU but since this is new to me, I'd like some advice/guidance. I've searched but nothing comes up on the Inspire for it really (3 threads but no guides). Can anyone point me in the right direction?

For future reference might wanna post in the q and a section.
Check out lords thread at the link below. You will find all info about uv scripts, under clocking, and over clocking. Personally I have used killersloth many times in the past and woeked great.

These are basic questions that have been answered 1000 times before.
You'd be amazed at how beneficial a little time spent searching would be...
First off let me apologize for Scotts response to you. It was neither helpful or informative.
In order to better help you, give us more details about the rommanager errors that you recieve. Have you considered flashing to another ROM? I use virtuous unity (now v1.25) and think it is rad. Overclocking is a pretty advanced skillset and difficult to master even for old pros. My inspire let's my ROM do the clicking for me, I love it.

I agree. It wasn't nearly as helpful or informative as a simple search would have been.
You can apologize all you want for me, but I stand by what I said because it's forum rules-- often the same thing is mentioned by Mods just before they lock a thread.

My ears were burning for good reason.
Just to clarify... My post history speaks for itself. I'd say 6 or 7 out of every 10 of my posts are actually helping people, the other 3 or 4 of the 10 are telling it like it is.
I try to make them as sarcastic as I feel the situation requires, and trust me, it gets worse, but I restrain myself.
1 or 2 of those 3 or 4 "not so helpful" posts of mine, I'll often come back to the thread later on, and, if the poster has offered some degree of acknowledgement or reasonable justification for their lapse, I'll often apologize and even help... at that point.
Why not just help them in the first place?
Great question, glad you asked!
It's called. . . wait for it. . . behavior modification.
I've never started a single new thread, and I've managed to learn quite a bit in a short time. There's no excuse for others not using the existing knowledgebase that is already available to them here on XDA.
I feel it's only fair that people make a reasonable attempt to carry their fair share of the load... Learning how this **** works a little. . . just a little. . . on their own first, instead of assuming everyone here as nothing better to do than sit around waiting for the honor of answering the same questions over and over and over again.
Because if you don't nip it in the bud, often times, some people take it for granted, and start posting every little question that flows through their mind.
You aren't helping those people, you're making them lazy, and setting them up to get flamed harder in the future.

Indeed. I mean, it's next to impossible not to come off sounding like a prick. How does one get the message across otherwise?
Like I said, it's all in the way the initial question is posed that determines for me the way I'll respond, and the context.
When it comes to radios, I usually help with no reservations whatsoever, because it's a little trickier than other stuff, people get tripped-up on the different methods out there, and because it could mess up your phone if the perfect storm of events comes to pass for somebody.

Over clocking has gotten a little more difficult in certain roms. For instance,I run unity, and with the newer version they say don't use set CPU. Set CPU is just easier and does the work for you. Make sure to read the lee Droid thread through and through to see what others have had the best of luck with. As far as searching try "lee Droid overclock" to see if you can narrow it down quicker. The answer is out there, and with a little motivation you will be answering your own questions in no time. Also, don't be offended by any member that post a somewhat rude post, because those are the poeple who 9 times outta 10 answered the same question a million times. By these member being blunt,it sometimes actually helps the situation. What I do if someone answers my question with "its already been answered",I assume they have answered it somewhere or,since they know where the answer is,I go to there profile and read through the post's to help narrow it down. If you look through my profile I started a lot of threads my self, but quit because by sitting back and watching you learn more. Hell lately I haven't even been active in the dev threads lol. Anyways, best of luck to you new comer. It all gets easier in time

To answer the OP, CM 7.1 was recently released out of release candidate status. The charge however is not on the supported list yet. There's still a lot of work to be done before it's ready to be loaded on anyone's phone. Hang in there. There's a good amount of other ROM's currently available for the Charge though that are worth looking into. (Humblecomb, GummyCharged, DCTQ to name a few)

There are literally two new threads about this a week. You don't even have to search. Just look in the Q&A forum and click back one or twice. Hell...you don't even have to do that right now. There's one started two days ago that is the first non-sticky post on the first page as I type this.
Asking questions is fine, but we have community guidelines, FAQ's, and search buttons for a reason.
The first response answered the question. (And mentioned the fact that this is the wrong forum for Q&A)
Maybe all the mini-mods should just hit the report button and let the real moderators do their job instead of posting a bunch of useless crap. If you don't want to see the useless posts maybe replying and putting them back at the top of the forum is not such a good idea.
Questions or Problems Should Not Be Posted in the Development Forum

CM7 is development. Your question about CM7 is not development. Your question is a question. If you would like to know what you should type in the search to find out about CM7, first try "CM7". I am sorry the developers and mods who spend their time making our phones awesome and maintaining the forums were not nicer to you when you posted a question in the development forum after not reading a single forum guideline. I'm sure they're sorry. Hope this helped.

Maybe I was rude, but I went and typed in CM7 in the search box for just the DROID Charge forums (all of them) and came up with 12 topics. Searching for cyanogenmod came up with 5 topics. I could also search either of those items with droid charge added to them in Google, Yahoo, or Bing, and end up with the most relevant info being on the first page of results too. Seeing that any one of those options would have taken less time than it took you to create this thread, which was initially in the incorrect forum, maybe you can see why people responded the way they did. Why should anyone else put forth any effort when you couldn't take 30 seconds to even begin to search on your own?
All questions like this should automatically spam the OP with PMs of LMGTFY links.
It's really quite ridiculous.
Honestly, if you're not smart enough to form a relatively basic search like so many people have laid out here in this and other related threads (oh so many threads), then you really shouldn't be attempting to do something so complicated as loading unsupported OS builds onto your phone.

[RESOLVED] Question for anyone here running Lord ClockAn's beta of ICS for DHD/I4g

Okay, so I'm too new to XDA to post in the developers thread, so I'm asking here: I have been flashing LC'a CM9 builds for the Desire HD on my Inspire 4g and am very excited about it.everything works enough for me to make it a daily driver. However, I'm getting three soft keys on the screen, under the dock. I'm assuming these are the keys for a real DHD, where we have hard keys already. Was wondering if a: anyone else is getting them, and b: if/how they can be turned off.
Note: I didn't search the development thread, because I've read dang near every post, even the off-topic ones and didn't see any mention of the problem. But since that is a Desire HD forum, the issue may not be known.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
The Inspire is a real DHD. They are 99.9% the same phone. Radio and extra mic are the only differences. So what you see is what everyone would see. Maybe you should have asked this on the Desire HD forum since that is where the ROM is located. What ROM are you talking about? His ICS build? I don't even see one titled what you said it was. Also you should tell us what the buttons look like so someone may give you an answer.
I believe he talking about the on-screen soft keys(Ala galaxy nexus). You can turn those off its one of.the display settings.
Marsdta, thank you for the helpful response. That is indeed where I found it. I was expecting it to be a Trebuchet setting, for whatever reason. Seemed the more intuitive place.
Agoattamer, I cannot help what you can or cannot see. You post was 100% UNhelpful. If you don't know the answer, don't respond. The ICS thread IS there, in the DHD dev forum.

[smacks self on forehead] Now, why didn't I think of that? I did post in the DHD forum...if you search, you'll find it, just like you'll find the thread in the DHD Dev thread about the CM9 beta being worked on.
And, just like here in this forum, one person was able to figure out what I was asking and provide helpful information.
Just 'cuz I'm new here, doesn't mean I'm a noob (or anyone else is, either).

[Q] Stabile Rom that doesn't drain battery life?

Hey!
First of all sorry if this is a repost, but i just can't really figure things out on my own.
I have a samsung galaxy s 4g branded to t-mobile. I had a paranoid android rom installed, but it drained my battery quite a bit and i crashed a lot of times. Now i decided to simply install the stock rom, which works good for me. The only problem is that it my phone won't recognize my sim card. I had this problem before, but after installing a custom rom it worked fine.
Can somebody please tell me a good, stabile rom for the sgs4g, that doesn't drain the battery too much? Also i would need some instructions on how to get the rom installed properly.
Thanks for your help!
all roms use battery
hmm
Well yeah. But some do more and some less, right? I am just looking for a rom that is stabile and doesnt crash all the time. i am not looking for a unofficial beta or something, just for something that works, you know what i mean? :/
Try barebones, it works great for me. Its based off the stock GB rom so its really stable

Try it and if you want some more features, while maintaining stock look and feel - I recommend using Barebone - here.

Nobody is saying not to help newbs here. You have misread the discussion here. It is not a matter of bothersome, it is much to do with the newbs showing interest in this community by first reading the threads. By posting the same question over and over again just showed me that these newbs are here for a quick answer and leave. And on the Net we have a term for that, they are considered "leechers."
There are many other newbs in this forum, and they don't act in this manner. I am always happy to help them within the scope of my knowledge.
When you say "if the post bother me then just move on," it tells me that either you are trying to avoid this issue and/or haven't put much thought in this matter.

Its simply that I don't care....I don't let it bother me...I help people at random....as I see where I can.
I don't post to their questions with a rant...I simply ignore the post and move on,or help if I so choose.

Either ignore the post and report it or just dont effing respond. Look at what woody said in the quote I posted above.
People need to learn to use the brain function called ignore. If people would just report posts/threads and not post some snarky retort threads would stay focused. But I digress.
One more thing, sometimes plane answer is the shortest way to close the discussion ...

AOKP has been perfectly stable, and given good battery life on both mine, and my wife's SGS4G's. She was running Valhalla Final and having constant reboots. Ran Gremlin Remover, and worked up to installing AOKP. Neither unit has had a single force close or reboot. I also swapped my stock OEM battery (which was going bad and part of the reason for the instability in my phone) which is 1650 mAh with an Anker 1800mAh battery. I can now get by on one charge a day, which is nice......there are likely some which are much more slim, but all depends on what your needs are.
