Changing CM 7.1 Battery Icon?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

Come on man! Do you want to us to read your mind? Do you want to know how it's done? If it can be done? If it has been done? WTF do you want. Help us help you with more info. I would also suggest searching, I bet you can find the answer quite easily. Or google UOT Kitchen.

Looks like you spend as much time searching & researching as you did typing that post. Try the former and you'll find plenty (I just started a thread yesterday about a similar purpose YESTERDAY). Dont expect others to help you, if you dont try and help yourself

Uhh, I found several threads on how to do it, but everytime I'd flash the ZIP, or changed the Framework-Res.apk, the Battery Icon would look retarded. I don't need YOU bashing ME over the INTERNET<--- .. It's a Forum, don't complain because I made another thread.

In all fairness, your original post is a bit vague. Hard to know what you're really asking.

Firstly, this plus one.
I'm assuiming you mean on the latest gbread leak ee03?
Now, I don't think its a missing feature, but rather something about the status bar is broken. If you notice while you are in the music player app, the icon for the music player controls pops up in the status bar, but pull the bar down and its gone. And as soon as you leave the music app the icon disappears as I'm sure you're aware.
I believe its the status bar and not the app that's the problem since the same symptoms occur with the fm radio (haven't tried pandora yet)...even tho fm radio is borked lol

#1 - If I Made a mistake and posted in the wrong section or incorrectly, somebody could have simply let me know, and not tried to attack me, or make comments that were not needed. It takes respect to get respect.
#2- If 1 person has already addressed the situation, why are the rest of you waisting your time and energy to say the same stuff the last person said.
#3- I appreciate all that he has done for us, but that dont mean i will kiss his ass, nor allow him to disrespect me in any kind of way. If you are not a mod, dont address me like you are one.
It seems as nobody on the site can stand on their own 2 feet, and wants to jump in everybody else business..lol. Guess you guys have nothing better to do other then take up for your internet friend buddys smh.

These are basic questions that have been answered 1000 times before.
You'd be amazed at how beneficial a little time spent searching would be...
First off let me apologize for Scotts response to you. It was neither helpful or informative.
In order to better help you, give us more details about the rommanager errors that you recieve. Have you considered flashing to another ROM? I use virtuous unity (now v1.25) and think it is rad. Overclocking is a pretty advanced skillset and difficult to master even for old pros. My inspire let's my ROM do the clicking for me, I love it.

My ears were burning for good reason.
Just to clarify... My post history speaks for itself. I'd say 6 or 7 out of every 10 of my posts are actually helping people, the other 3 or 4 of the 10 are telling it like it is.
I try to make them as sarcastic as I feel the situation requires, and trust me, it gets worse, but I restrain myself.
1 or 2 of those 3 or 4 "not so helpful" posts of mine, I'll often come back to the thread later on, and, if the poster has offered some degree of acknowledgement or reasonable justification for their lapse, I'll often apologize and even help... at that point.
Why not just help them in the first place?
Great question, glad you asked!
It's called. . . wait for it. . . behavior modification.
I've never started a single new thread, and I've managed to learn quite a bit in a short time. There's no excuse for others not using the existing knowledgebase that is already available to them here on XDA.
I feel it's only fair that people make a reasonable attempt to carry their fair share of the load... Learning how this **** works a little. . . just a little. . . on their own first, instead of assuming everyone here as nothing better to do than sit around waiting for the honor of answering the same questions over and over and over again.
Because if you don't nip it in the bud, often times, some people take it for granted, and start posting every little question that flows through their mind.
You aren't helping those people, you're making them lazy, and setting them up to get flamed harder in the future.

Indeed. I mean, it's next to impossible not to come off sounding like a prick. How does one get the message across otherwise?
Like I said, it's all in the way the initial question is posed that determines for me the way I'll respond, and the context.
When it comes to radios, I usually help with no reservations whatsoever, because it's a little trickier than other stuff, people get tripped-up on the different methods out there, and because it could mess up your phone if the perfect storm of events comes to pass for somebody.

Over clocking has gotten a little more difficult in certain roms. For instance,I run unity, and with the newer version they say don't use set CPU. Set CPU is just easier and does the work for you. Make sure to read the lee Droid thread through and through to see what others have had the best of luck with. As far as searching try "lee Droid overclock" to see if you can narrow it down quicker. The answer is out there, and with a little motivation you will be answering your own questions in no time. Also, don't be offended by any member that post a somewhat rude post, because those are the poeple who 9 times outta 10 answered the same question a million times. By these member being blunt,it sometimes actually helps the situation. What I do if someone answers my question with "its already been answered",I assume they have answered it somewhere or,since they know where the answer is,I go to there profile and read through the post's to help narrow it down. If you look through my profile I started a lot of threads my self, but quit because by sitting back and watching you learn more. Hell lately I haven't even been active in the dev threads lol. Anyways, best of luck to you new comer. It all gets easier in time

Android 2.2 Gingerbread for Samsung Galaxy S 4G?

I am trying to find the gingerbread rom for my husbands Galaxy S. Kind of new at this and will need directions if anyone can lead me in the right direction i'd be very greatful. Thanks in advance.
On a side note, 2.3 is Gingerbread. If you browse the Galaxy S forums, you would be able to find what you need. I went ahead and found the stock one for you.
Just a word of advise, if you are new to installing roms, I would recommend finding someone that knows what they are doing, or you could risk bricking his phone.
thanks although the links didn't show up he wants to be able to watch netflix on his phone of course if there is an easier way to allow him to do that i would be much happier with that. Im just not sure how to go about it i do understand that bricking is possible but i dont' have anyone to do it but me so i kind of stuck

Currently the only way to watch netflix on the gs4g is with Gingerbread 2.3.3.
There is a odin flashable rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1146145
Before flashing I would read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001759
It is not that difficult just make sure to read through the forum and use the search button.
Remember however at this time gingerbread is a leaked build, so it may have some bugs. Future releases will likely fix this but may take some time.
THANKS
Thank you so much for all the info i did flash our HD2's to android but mine is having some issues now and i went to the GS but the screen was to small for me being as i'm almost blind in a sense but i will try this and see if this is what he wants or wants to go back to HD2. Again thanks so much.
you have absolutely no clue what your'e talking about. Please take 1 minute to research next time, and you'll realize there are 2 gingerbread versions on this site.
the fact tha you don't e ven know that 2.3 is gingerbread means you shouldn't even be posting yet
She asked a question. Yes, she could have researched, but you don't have to be so rude about it; especially when corradokng addressed her issue as well as telling her to search next time.

Complete Customization

So I was curious if anyone has made a custom rom that completely modified everything? I know you can download custom themes and I think you can get custom dialers but has anyone made a rom that had all of it already built into it? I am very happy with alien mod 7.4 but was just curious cause the search I did didn't return any results. Also a rom that has put the contacts back in with the dialer would be awesome.
Anyways like I said just curious is all.
Thanks

I'm not 100 percent sure what you're asking. By definition, modification involves taking something that already exists and altering it. For a rom to be completly custom, it is not a matter of modification. It is a matter of starting from scratch and building something completely new from the source, ie AOSP, CM. "Everything" is not a very descriptive word; without the specifics of what you are looking for, it is hard to point you to anything more specific than the dev section.

[Q] Stabile Rom that doesn't drain battery life?

Hey!
First of all sorry if this is a repost, but i just can't really figure things out on my own.
I have a samsung galaxy s 4g branded to t-mobile. I had a paranoid android rom installed, but it drained my battery quite a bit and i crashed a lot of times. Now i decided to simply install the stock rom, which works good for me. The only problem is that it my phone won't recognize my sim card. I had this problem before, but after installing a custom rom it worked fine.
Can somebody please tell me a good, stabile rom for the sgs4g, that doesn't drain the battery too much? Also i would need some instructions on how to get the rom installed properly.
Thanks for your help!
all roms use battery
hmm
Well yeah. But some do more and some less, right? I am just looking for a rom that is stabile and doesnt crash all the time. i am not looking for a unofficial beta or something, just for something that works, you know what i mean? :/
Try barebones, it works great for me. Its based off the stock GB rom so its really stable

To go to stock ROM :
Use - Heimdall One Click posted here.
Try it and if you want some more features, while maintaining stock look and feel - I recommend using Barebone - here.

You apologized ahead tells me that you knew that your question probably had been answered already in this forum, and yet you continued to post it. Rather than searching the forum, you resorted an easy route with an initial hollow apology and irrelevant reasons as a cover up of your real intention.

Just search and read b4 u post. This question had been asked like a 100x by newbies who failed to give this forum much attention. It is getting monotonous and doesn't need anymore attention.
For future reference, I urge forum members not to reply to this type of question.

I still believe that the Report button should be used as a first line here. If something can be answered, the do it and be helpful in 1 or 2 posts. If things get out of hand, then use that button. That is why it is there.

Words of wisdom from the moderator.
Telling people to not help newbs is just wrong.
The post bothers you...move on.
This forum was designed for devs, and users alike....to help.

Nobody is saying not to help newbs here. You have misread the discussion here. It is not a matter of bothersome, it is much to do with the newbs showing interest in this community by first reading the threads. By posting the same question over and over again just showed me that these newbs are here for a quick answer and leave. And on the Net we have a term for that, they are considered "leechers."
There are many other newbs in this forum, and they don't act in this manner. I am always happy to help them within the scope of my knowledge.
When you say "if the post bother me then just move on," it tells me that either you are trying to avoid this issue and/or haven't put much thought in this matter.

Its simply that I don't care....I don't let it bother me...I help people at random....as I see where I can.
I don't post to their questions with a rant...I simply ignore the post and move on,or help if I so choose.

THIS!
Either ignore the post and report it or just dont effing respond. Look at what woody said in the quote I posted above.
People need to learn to use the brain function called ignore. If people would just report posts/threads and not post some snarky retort threads would stay focused. But I digress.
One more thing, sometimes plane answer is the shortest way to close the discussion ...

AOKP has been perfectly stable, and given good battery life on both mine, and my wife's SGS4G's. She was running Valhalla Final and having constant reboots. Ran Gremlin Remover, and worked up to installing AOKP. Neither unit has had a single force close or reboot. I also swapped my stock OEM battery (which was going bad and part of the reason for the instability in my phone) which is 1650 mAh with an Anker 1800mAh battery. I can now get by on one charge a day, which is nice......there are likely some which are much more slim, but all depends on what your needs are.
