depends what you restore back to.
2.3.3 is the latest
Can't you just copy that 2.3.3 stock ROM zip file to SNS root and run through recovery?
Why would you go to 2.3.3 by choice? I'm dreading the day that it says i have an update.

i installed cm7 and thinking it will be helpfull, the freezing is the same.
when go back to the original rom i could get the google rom update to fix the problem
[Q] downgrade
can i downgrade to 2.3.2 using a nandroid
yes you can
just download the version that you want, copy it to the usb, reboot to CWR, and select restore, wipe data, wipe cache, wike kalvik, reboot, you're done, enjoy
I was the praud owner of a nexus s root. i upgrate to 2.3.3 and im keep root, but cant do anything because clockwork recovery dosent work, neither the superuser, etc.... I just whant to go back to 2.3.2
fastboot boot etc etc
I'm on CyanogenMod7-7.0.3-NS right now but want to go back to stock 2.3.4 as wavesecure is having issues with Cyanogen and can't verify my sim.
Baseband version: I9020XXKD1
Build Number:GRI40
Will this guide work for my Nexus S? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1061855
Sorry newbie here, just want to be really really sure as I followed a poor guide somewhere and got stuck up with the google logo and lock on boot, hence was forced to install cyanogen.

Okay..so to close my question. I just followed this and everything went back to stock.
theunlockr.com/2011/01/20/how-to-unroot-the-nexus-s
1. followed the link above.
2. I remain rooted but recovery went back to stock. no more clockwork.
3. after booting, was alerted of a 2.3.4 update..so I updated again.
4. marketplace has been upgraded to the new interface (probably bec of the update)
5. to install screenshot app and fontchanger..I needed to have super user, so I just installed Clockwork (recovery-clockwork-3.0.2.4-) again and installed SU (su-2.3.6.1-ef-signed.zip) via SD card install.
6. so far, everything's good.
If you have some questions, feel free to ask.
Download a stock rom ( unless you made a nandroid backup)
Turn off you phone then start it while holding vol+
Do a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache( found under advanved)
Flash your stock rom

thanks! I have made a nandroid backup but I think I may have a corrupted boot.img.
Where can I get a stock rom? Is the one from the link I posted good enough?

Is there a way to return to stock while keeping CWM ?
You can stay on stock rom while you are rooted. You can google it. I got my 2.3.4 from ardoid.com
Its a stock rom with added arabic support. Since you dont need arabic. It wont make any difference to you.

I'm not asking for keeping root, only to revert back to stock while keeping CWM
Clockworkmod will stay on your phone. As far as i know, all your phone recoveries will be done through cwm

I read somewhere that flashing a stock ROM will restore the stock boot/recovery. Is it true ?
That i cant answer u. But i can say that i went back and forth between roms. Reverting to stock when needed. CWM stayed on my phone.

Driving me crazy, i really need to wipe the infuse clean and get ris of the previous owbener's data and google account!! ... Grrrrrrr. LOL

Lol you may be stock GB with froyo bootloaders. You can't root 2.3.3 and up that way. The exploit is gone since it was used to push malware top Android phones. Not super one click, the exploit it uses to work.
Since att gingerbread bootloaders aren't available you need to either Odin flash a stock ROM and start from scratch (lame, no need to go back to stock unless you prefer a stock ROM)or Odin (heimdall is what I actually prefer) flash a custom kernel with a rainbow fix (all of the GB kernels out now have this) to fix recovery and install cwm (this also roots you, way easier than the stupid one click, recover, cwm run around).
If you see rainbows then how did you"flash a rooted ROM" I don't get how you flashed anything.
use this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1293671 and here how I did it. It took me less than 5 min to flash this ROM
Best of luck
First install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.
ROM Manager Installation Instructions:
1) You must be rooted.
2) Download ROM from above link and place it on your internal SD card.
3) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select full.
4) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you MUST check "Wipe Data and Cache"
5) Press OK. Your phone will reboot and automatically install the ROM. Just sit back and relax.
Thank you, I'll give it a shot in a bit and let you know!! ....

Yes, I have Kies installed. Not running though....
Im working with this ROM as this appears the only one that works with this Infuse.....

ODIN back to stock and start over.
Powered by Infused v2.2.0
Noob with a drive to learn and in need of some help.
I attempted to install stable release of CM7 thru CWM on my rooted G2x, still stock everything, OS 2.3.4. Pre-install I backed-up current ROM, wipe data & cache and wipe dalvik cache. Rebooted into recovery and it looked as tho all was well... However, my phone wont go any further than the second "LG" boot logo, (I'm thinking is packaged in CM7). Nothing I've tried yet has fixed my situation. Not even allowing me to enter manual recovery so I can restore my back-up.
I'm hoping someone could please tell me what I did wrong? And also, what I can do to fix it?
Did you flash CWM using ROM Manager or NVflash?
If the answer isn't NVflash, you need to search the forum for that and use it. Then try to install a ROM

Since it's getting harder to find here is the link to the CWM thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24087341
Follow the instructions there and you'll be good to go. It says XP but I have never had a problem on Windows 7.

Hi all,
just bought HTC Butterfly X920D 3 days ago from a guy. I realise he has root this device bcos I cannot do OTA update. System check download the update but failed to install. After that I search for a fix n found CWM & Rom manager. I flashed recovery & try to apply the update manually buy CWM says E:Cant mount sdcard, can access cache, blocking device required. Then I look for another fix and arrived here. After all that mess, I tried to factory reset the device via setting in phone is but after resetting n restarts, my HTC is entering recovery again and I opted from the menu selected "boot systems now". It booted andall the contents is still there!
Looks like the reset function isn't working anymore. Any suggestions on what I shud do?
Thx on advance. Cheers
you have to install the original recovery before applying the OTA.
I have it here
Flash it via bootloader
