I'm currently running CM7 nightly, LordMod UE, radio 26.06.06.30_M, and Ril 2.2.0018G.
I'm losing 5% battery every 5 min while using 3G/4G for Google Music with the screen off. On wifi it's tons better but on data this is awful.
Is this standard or is there something I can do? I don't have access to wifi except at home.

Lordmod UE 7 and above were having battery drain issues. Not to downplay the Lordmod kernel because I used it for months and liked it. But try TalonACE kernel and see if the drain persists. Or downgrade the Lordmod kernel. TalonACE is made for the Inspire. Lordmod is made for the Desire HD and works on the Inspire. I've become a TalonACE fan.
I switched to the Virtuous Unity rom, and I LOVE the battery life, I run juice defender too, which helps.
I'm having trouble on MIUI while using GPS but its to be expected

There is a page towards the end of development section where the guy shows you how to do a clean install of your ROM and battery calibration. I'm on CoreDroid and my battery life was at 50% by 9:30 am when I had a full 100% charge at 7: am. After doing this guys method I had 100% charge at 6: am here it is 4:15 pm and I'm at 72%. I'm also using juicedefender.

I'm trying TalonACE since yesterday. So far the wifi battery usage is good, we'll see how it goes later on data. It seems like lowering the hsdpa voltages would be helpful.

There is something going on like a stray program or service. What are your top programs in Spare Parts or running diagnostic *#*#4636#*#* on dialer. Look for Partial Wake usage on battery and also look at total usage.

There are apps that don't work on the inspire but you learn as you install and uninstall. Usually I read the reviews on them before installing but most have been great. I use easy installer from mrket to load them just create a folder called download on root of SD place apk there and easy installer will find them after install delete apk from folder. Only issue do not put new apk's in folder if there are still some there not installed yet, easy will not see them till old ones gone.

I keep hearing about TPC Stock ROM Optimized with Buzz OC.UV Kernel?
I am a total newb, but I really just want as few deviations from the stock as possible but unlocked, somewhat overclocked when I am working, extreme underclock on idle, and remove the bloatware.
What have you guys found?
Try Ingersoll.
On the AOSP side LordMod from the DHD section is awesome. That won't help you if you're using a Sense ROM, though.
CM7 Inspire 4G
Lordmod on cm7.
how do you know which one to use?
BFS vs. CFS

If you notice, just about everyone gave you a different answer. There is no best rom. generally speaking, batt life is determined by clock speed and usage. plus each rom is a little unique. Just try out different roms and see what you think.

Yup... this is how I test ROMs. If they make it past 250 hours, then they are worthy. To this day, I have only had one ROM do this, and that was on my G1. It was the TMUS rom by amazinglarry311. Di11s ROM so far is going to be the second, by the looks of it.
I run Cache Cleaner NG once every other day, tho it's really not needed that often.
Still have over 211mb free when using Advanced Task Killer, and no lags.
Battery life is from about 8:30am til just after midnight. In this time frame, the lowest I've gone is 22%. Average of 225 texts a day, maybe 3 phone calls, music ALL day at work (not streaming), and check FB every 2 hours or so. Along with the occasional email here and there.
I can't imagine sending 225 text messages in one day.

Thread so maybe other users can maybe benefit from it. I appriciated it bro. And I know I'm really coming off as a huge newb, but I'm not. Im an ex flashaholic who states up days on end flashing roms and really don't wanna go through the whole setup proccess 5 million times until I find a good one,i know it differed due to everything being based on opinions but if someone provides a setup (Rom+kernal+radio) for me,then maybe it will help me narrow it down. I don't have a problem browsing the thread, but I'm the type to have 50 gazillion questions behind my main question so a "quick search" usually consists of tons of searches which lead to confusion most of the time lol. But thank you guys for understanding and helping a new inspire user out. I just wanted to make it clear that I'm not some newb with no knowledge looking for all the answers without looking my self. here is the radio and ril
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1106324
Rom: CoreDroid v6.7
Kernel: MDJ's v22
I think that CD 6.7 has MDJ's kernel by default, but don't hold me to it. I saw in the changelog that v6.8 (due out today) has the latest Lee Kernel. I used GTG's RIL flasher in Rom Manager to flash the RIL after installing the radio, but there's instructions at the link burton provided.
I have been using LeeDriod for awhile now jumping back and forth to other roms but I for some stupid reason like sense and the 3.0 lockscreen. from what I have been seeing in others change logs is that they are using the leedriod kernel of and on so he must be doing something right, as for Radios I stopped flashing the after the latest release of the stock AT&T radio, I really never noticed any difference with anyone's radio
So,I'm so freaking tired of charging my phone 3 times a day (HTC inspire) so I flash different roms, without sense to try and save battery, and I get maybe one extra hour!! So it makes me want a different phone, and I try to think of a different OS so I install miui just to see if I can stand not having full blown android, and I can't. So I'm stuck at a crossroad, with no money to just buy another phone. What would you do? No one will trade me an atrix lol.

Try a low voltage kernal w/ smartass governor maybe.
Try a battery calibration app and LBE security app, lower display brightness. Limit the number of widgets and start up programs.

The guide is simple. Turn down brightness all the way, turn off data if not using it (or use 2G-only), limit the number of background apps running, use a custom kernel if possible and underclock the CPU speed below 1.5 GHz.
Use apps with dark preferably black backgrounds, AMOLEDS doesn't use any power when displaying black unlike LCDs with backlights. Set black background image, use inverted mode in browser etc. Surf old school porn- and warez sites instead of Wikipedia to profit from black backgrounds Use Wi-Fi for large downloads since a quick download using wifi will save power compared to longer times using cellular data. But by far most important is use display as little as possible and at low brightness displaying dark colors.
Turning sync off helps a lot. If you don't plan on using GPS frequently, turn that off as well. Same with Bluetooth.
Thanks guys ill check out all that info

How do I underclock the CPU. I'm using the mjd kernel I think it is

mdj? There might be info on this where you got the kernel. If it was included in a custom rom then there might be some sort of control app included as well, in CM9 its just part of settings. I think ppl use an app called setcpu as well sometimes, 2 USD on market.
Mdj kernal is what I have installed. So will have to try as I'm.getting horrendous battery life
