Connect your Dualshock 3 to your phone - Thunderbolt General

This is by far the coolest app I've come across for Android, right next to BootManager.
It was kinda confusing to get setup right, but once it was, hours of Mario Kart 64 enjoyment ensued.
If you're running an AOSP ROM on your TBolt, you should definitely give this app a look.

what do you use to play old ms dos games on your hd 2 ?
there is the n0p dosbox version but it is not in wvga and if you click on the sides, it interacts with manila so...
then there's QEMU, but it seems that in the versions prepared until now, you have to drag the mouse where you want to click......
So what do you use for you hd 2 (or other phones WVGA) ?

Yeah same here. I've got all my old favorite games working now via Morphgear but need this to get Chaos Engine running
Any one?
Ooooh yeah, I love chaos engine, if you cant tell by the nick... Anyhow, have you tried playing soldiers of fortune for the SNES? Very good port of it.
Anyhow, yeah I am trying to get dos working as well. Have had limited success running games but everything has been fairly buggy so far.
Damn, I would love to get some of the old DOS games on the HD2 as well. Haven't played them for ages ...

dos games
hi there i have been looking in to this problem to and for me Elite Frontiers is the holy grail i have tried dosbox but i came across a post on YouTube about running
windows 95 on the HD2. this in theory will run dos games but when trying to run my games I found that installing dos box on windows 95 the games run fine. There is a java chaos engine but then it was controlled with a keypad.
Hope this helps or at least gives you a start

Well its a start..
Thanks buddy!
I already knew i probably could get it running through win 95 but what a load of fafing just to play a couple of games!
Could you provide a link to the Java based Chaos Engine? Would still like to take a look Just cant help it...
Cheers,
Sorry buddy forgot i left you a message here is the like to where i got the java game.

N64oid!

This is a great Nintendo 64 emulator now available on the market!

For me, using an Xperia X10 and Advent Vega (Tegra 2) Banjo-Kazooie runs smoothly.
But Super Mario 64 runs too fast! I asked yongzh (the developer) to add a framelimiter, so hopefully it'll be implemented soon.
I'm amazed at this, especially after looking at how hard development of alternative N64 emulators has been.
E.g. http://forums.ngemu.com/misc-n64-discussion/139653-porting-mupen64plus-android.html
Nice! Says it's incompatible with my device (ZTE Blade) tough, no love for ARMv6?
have to try on my huawei u8800/ideos X5
that looks pretty impressive.
I wonder how it'll run on a Xoom...
I plays really good, I found mariokart to run a bit faster than it should and Killer Instinct was playing really well but the menu screen came out larger than it should. Lucky I remember what the options were.
Wow, Majora's Mask, on my SGS.. Oo And, it is too fast !! Desactivate frameskip helps, and it's more smooth, but sound keeps emulated too fast...
Updates will be great, results are really impressive !!
Screen is stretched, i know that Glide plugin on PC helps to do a true widescreen... Could be great to adapt it !
WOOHOOO!!!!!

I'll go try it out real quick, so far I've only used it on my HTC Droid Incredible and Droid X, works great on both of those.
Edit: It runs really smooth and looks pretty good, it seems like .n64 files run smoother than .z64 files anyone else noticed this?
Well legend of zelda oot run almost perfectly on my atrix except in the beginning cutscenes of the game the sound glitched a bit but the frame rate was still good. But when I tried to get the sword in the beginning the screen turned black but the scound is current still playing perfectly. I dont really care about the imperfections with this emulator I just can believe one finally got released for android and how well it works.
Edit:
Apparently when I went to get the sword in the beginning my screen went black but the sound still worked. Still the creators did an awesome job worth it.
Zelda oot:
I think it was a random glitch cause i am now at the duko tree and no lag so far.
Edit again:
it happened again. Something is causing the video to go out and turn the screen black otherwise perfect frame rate for zelda oot
Super Mario Kart:
The game menu it self plays perfectly but when im try to keep the accelorator(forward movement) going, steering the kart and fire an object on the touch screen it seems to freak out. It makes it when i press A it only accelerates for a bit then stops then I have to repress a to start again.
1080 SnowBoarding(Love this game):
I tried playing 1080 snowboarding it ran perfectly till i tried playing a level then it just froze.
Goldeneye:
I just finished playing the first level of goldeneye on agent. It ran almost perfectly. There were a few spots of lag but over all goldeneye is not ment for this controller set up. But again there were no major hicups with game. I was able to complete a the first mission.

Ive sent him an email (his email address is in the market)
EDIT: He´s answered my mail and said that it would be possible to make it compatible on ARMv6 devices but he doesn´t wanna do it because he has tested it on his htc legend and said that it was very choppy and he doesn´t wanna get bad ratings in the market because of ppl who expect the emu to run at fullspeed on devices with insufficent hardware. So I guess we´re out of luck.

anyone here also using their hd2 to play n64oid?
mines runs like 2-4 games perfectly but the rest the sound is horrible and it lags sometimes like starfox, mario kart, zelda oot & mm, etc... is it cause i have the first gen of snapdragon cpu??? i have to set the frameskip to 10 and autoframe skip to get good gameplay but only on a few.
never the less this is awesome i cant wait till after some more updates 1.1 is already out =D
What rom should i attach the game to? I have never heard of having to do this.

ha im not a moron i have disabled sound and i know sound makes many games laggy (was using daedalus psp for a long time and realize that the first time i got it) i just wanted to know cause newer up to date phones like the samsung vibrant, galaxy s, etc run it better with less hic up i just wanted to know if anyone else realized this and wanted someone to clarify it
p.s. i wasnt complaining i was just curious curiousity and complaining are completely different please dont just start accusing
Banjo-Kazooie has some graphical glitches though it has always been a problematic game to emulate if memory serves me right. Also FPS could be better in many places despite the intense frameskip going on (HTC Vision at 1.5 GHz)
Yep, Banjo Kazpoie has some issues with graphics in emulation. But its still fully playable on my Fascinate, almost near full speed.

Those were the original controls:
You use the main analog stick to move Bond around, and you use the L button and the main analog stick combined to aim your weapon and lock the camera on a certain position. B is to reload, A to switch weapon, Left and Right C to Strafe, Up and Down C to look up or down, Z to use weapon, R is the same as L.

Maybe B to ZL, A to ZR, C buttons to a,b,x,y, Z to R?
Or C buttons to the right analog stick, a to b, b to y? (Maybe Z to a, if it doesn't work well on R?)

Amazed @ what I can do with gTab

Yea, the screen isn't the best. But i've spent some time the last few days trying out some new stuff....
1) Got NESoid, SNESoid, N64oid and PSXoid running. Just beat a few levels of Mega Man 2 on my gTab. Controls are great and games are flawless! It's amazing! I played the Ocarina of Time for 3 hours the other night. Get a good pair of head phones and its a blast!
2) Installed LogMeIn Ignition on my PCs/Phone/Gtab. I can now control each of the devices from the opposite. If I want to download something, I can hop on my home PC from my gTab, start the download etc. Its amazing!
3) Watched a bunch of diVX movies I downloaded! ITs awesome with good headphones!
Theres more and more this little thing keeps amazing me!
Running Vegan 5.1 on my new woot g-tab. I love this thing too. Don't forget to try out the DS emulator, works well enough to play simple games like phoenix wright.
Been using jailbroken iOS for a while now, I can definitely see how much more locked down it is. Good stuff

Emulation on the G2X

Wow this phone is fast! N64 and PS1 at full fps with sound! Almost kind of boring when you don't have to tweak a ton of settings just to make the roms playable
I've been into emulation on every device I've owned, so its how I benchmark the relative performance from one device to the next. Coming from a N900, this G2X blows it out of the water. My N900 could play SNES at full fps but turning the sound on would slow it down. The N900 could play N64 and PS1 but they were really slow at ~10fps skipping at least two or three frames without sound.
So N64 and PS1 emulators were the best I had to throw a the phone and it handles it no problem. I'd like to see what the phone can really do. Its starting to feel like this phone might be pretty close to my laptop (older 2Ghz C2D) in emulation performance; blows my mind to even think that. Is there a PS2 emulator anywhere? I read a rumor that said Nvidia might put out a PS2 emulator but I wasn't sure how true that was. I'm assuming if Nvidia puts the emulator out then it would be optimized for Tegra2 and actually use both CPU cores and the graphics chip so the games might actually run OK-ish.
If not, what is everyone else using to push the phone? I don't really care about quadrant benchmarks or anything like that.
Oh BTW, this is my first Android device so excuse the noobness of me not knowing what software exists

haha yeah its my first I've been reading about Android since it was announced and I've played with different versions on emulators and I actually had my N900 dual booting Froyo, but this is my first actual Android device. I'm a little bit of a software nerd so I like trying out different OS's. Meego, Maemo, WebOS, Palm, WinMo CE 6 and 5, Android 1.5-2.3; I've spent some time with all of them. I even lurked for a while before my join date. Not too much of a noob in general, just with the world of 3rd party software for Android.
So anyway, back on topic. Does a PS2 emulator exist for Android? What's everyone running to test out their new G2X?

And everyone should have to walk to school...five miles, through the snow, up hill...both ways.
But anyway, It really is an amazing device...much more powerful than the netbook I bought just last year. But then again, I remember just how crazy fast my home built 50MHz 486 with 512 Kb of RAM was. Amazing time to be alive...
Damn, I feel old...
No PS2 Emulator out for Android yet.
As a general rule it takes around 4 or 5 times the processing power to correctly emulate a system (give or take). The PS2 has a 128bit processor running at 300MHz with multiple coprocessors. I think we are getting close but not quite there.
Yeah I realize the G2x won't run PS2 perfectly, especially if its run completely off the CPU it might not run at all. That's why I was hoping there was more to the Nvidia PS2 emulator rumor...
Oh well, it's not like I wont have fun playing with N64 and PS1, its just too easy.
Just like older phones with SNES and other emulators, you have frame skipping and stuff to help the frame rate.
I think the PS2 is overkill but whatever.
I just think its funny that Sony is coming out with a new PSP Android phone to run PS1 games that we can already do for free using our own backups.

I've only tried N64oid and FPse, both work really well for me so far. I'm just using the onscreen controls right now. I tried to get the accelerometer working for the left dpad/stick but I still have some tweaking to do to get it the way I like it. Still, the accelerometer doesn't feel natural with these games, they weren't really designed to be controlled that way.
Id like to get one of those iControlpads, its bluetooth so it should work. It's just kinda of pricy so I'll wait to hear of other people using it with a G2X first.
speaking of slide out gamepads, I'm surprised something like This hast come out yet. It would be perfect for me.
Yea i like the IcontrolPad as well, but like you said its a bit expensive.

so far until someone works on the drivers or the bluputdroid dev supports the phone its not going to happen on a stock G2x rom. Ive seen it does work on CM7 roms however I haven't tried myself.
I'm half tempted to try a nightly but i like having a stable phone.
my controller should be here any day so if HDMI out is working on CM7 I will probably give it a try
I currently use a one handed bluetooth gamepad. It works with Fpse, Psx4droid, N64oid, Gameboid, Snesoid and Gensoid. Plus i have the belt clip kickstand. I just sit back on the bus or train to work and play FF7, Super Smash Brothers, Tekken Advanced, Killer Instinct and of course Sonic.

Hi,
pretty new user here to xda, rooted yesterday, yay!
flashed firmware today, yay again!
I like your topic by the way
I have been using ppsspp for months and downloading the new builds from there site,
I recomend we all try it, i enjoy that kind of thing anyway,
im still yet to get a game to run perfect, at one point i had mortal kombat working at pretty much the correct speed but
that seems to have broken in the latest builds,
it does depend on what settings you are using in app and it really can greatly change the results,
different games perform better on different settings
this would be a great topic to note the optimal settings for each game!
but even then the optimal settings seem to change with each ppsspp update
the games i try are
god of war chains of olympus = loads, plays slow
ridge racer 2 = load plays relatively well
wipeout = loads, plays slow
wolverine = loads, plays slow
manhunt 2 = loads, plays very slow!
def jam = black screen on load
mortal kombat = loads, plays slow
silent hill = loads, runs well when you get past menu but screen flashes alot
you can play around with the in app settings and sometimes get good results, but as i said with every build of the emulator it seems to
change which settings can be best to have on
I am quite enjoying following the emulator though, i update it very regularly
I recomend Getting the latest version of ppsspp, im not sure what they have done but you can now see the percentage for
the speed the game is running at, aslong as the option is on,
but anyway i just loaded up god of war and i am getting 50% speed, may not sound great, but a huge improvment,
actually quite playable,
a very interesting emulator to keep your eye on
EDIT
I have tried a few other games,
wipeout pure menus are runnin absolutely perfect, the game not so much but better,
i know everyone who uses the infinty is not a huge gamer like myself, but for me its an emulator to keep your eye on,
its getting there, could take years who knows, ill probably have a new tablet before it runs perfectly,
but i know progress when i see it
i havent paid for ppsspp gold yet, i do enjoy seeing the regular updates and seeing improvements,
sometimes the changes can make my games run worse but other users better,
ill certainly go gold soon, i like to at least contribute to someones hard work,
same with Cromi-X I think i need to do a little something there
http://www.ppsspp.org/downloads.html
but certainly if your a gamer, check that out,
dont expect miracles, im sure you all know about it already, but I just really appreciate the work gone in
im going gold!
