My htc news widget won't update. Any one has a similar problem? Any idea how to solve this?

In Accounts & Sync is News set to sync? (Sorry if that's too obvious, but it's the best place to start.)

try clicking the little refresh button on the bottom of the widget, that always works for me...if that doesnt work, remove the widget, add it again, re-add the news sources, and it *should* be fine after that
Solution of this problem
No folks, it is a well known bug for this widget. So the solution is simple. Install GOOGLE READER and sign in with your account and refresh. After that the news widget will work for you and update your RSS feed forever.

lol i always install google reader on my device, so thats prolly why ive never had a problem

This HTC News app would be so much better if it had a way to mark all stories as read. Thumbing through all my stories takes forever...

for me, the news app stopped syncing after the ROM update.I factory reset, and all is ok now.

i actually prefer the large htc news widget on my screen
I am having an error everytime I go into the notifications area in my friendstream app.. if anyone out there can help me I appreciate it, i included my logcat
(sorry if its too long or i included too much, i dont know where it is or whats causing the problem anyway)

I've flashed LeeDrOiD HD V3.3.3 on to my Desire HD and flashed V5 HTC Sense 3.0 All in 1.
The problem I have is that the lock ring wont select the shortcuts on the lock screen!!?
Can anyone help please?
Hey. Sorry if this is an obvious solution. You need to drag the app into the ring and not the other way. Try this and see if it works. Otherwise am not sure what the problem is.

Looks like it is fixed for me now, sense 3.5
Method 1
Sign in to FriendStream widget with facebook, it will ask you to sync, choose sync with all contacts.
Will take some time to refresh all, after you get clear contact pictures.
If you cant sign in to FriendStream widget separately from facebook app, heres Method 2 that confirmed to work: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20392011&postcount=22 - thanks to the_scotsman

You sense 3.5 Rom? If so been looking for one and haven't had any luck. So I've reverted back to sense 3

What, I don't get what you are trying to say....it would be nice if you could elaborate?
Old news but congrats.. Basically he's saying that on order to get clearer contact photos you need to sync your phone with the friendstream app. The regular Facebook app syncs the photos with really low quality.

Ok, seems to do nothing for me maybe ill delete facebook app reboot and sync through friendstream.

I think you need to go into Accounts & Sync in the phone settings and add specifically 'Facebook for HTC Sense,' then it should work.

But its not there when I check? I just have regular Facebook...not one for sense

Ok I signed into facebook of a fresh Rom install using friend stream widget ..
Still no facebook for HTC sense in accounts and sync and still blurry contact pictured... What am I doing wrong?
I click on friend stream widget, it comes up with accounts to sign into, I choose Facebook, Facebook for android comes up, then I sign in and it sais authorize Facebook for HTC sense but that pops up and disappears without me authorizing anything...is the same happening for you or can you authorize it?

This is really pissing me off now. How did you manage to get Facebook for HTC sense in accounts & sync? All I have is the ****ty fukin Facebook android, and yes I did sign in through friend stream

That would be the first sense 3.5 rom with explicit facebook for htc sense ... normally that fb for sense is integrated in fb app on 3.5

Same here...
"Facebook for Sense" on Sense 3.5 ROMs is integrated with Facebook, which is why you'll only see Facebook in the sync menu. Maybe an early Sense 3.5 ROM had Facebook for Sense added, but its not needed.
All my contact images are sharp when I sync using the Facebook app. I don't use Friendstream at all.

Well your a lucky Scotsman then, mine are blurry as hell, I can't use sense 3.5 roms because when someone calls me it makes me want to throw up.
To add on my post, surely there must be a way to unseperate them?

Ahhh....your're talking about when someone calls....yes, I think it's still blurry for me there too...in the contacts app they're clear.
It'sa little annoying, but not enough for me to go back to Sense 3.0 lol...

Yer I use the big people widget too and it just doesn't look nice. I was on sense 3.5 for like a day and its so much more polished then sense 3 I.wanna go back but apparently I have ocd about blurry pictures :/

And signin in to friendstream after?

I tried this. Uninstalled Facebook app. But when I click on Facebook account in Friend Stream settings, nothign happens. There's no icon next to it either, so I think it needs facebook installed for it to work?
EDIT: Yep, I installed Facebook app again, and now I can sign into FB using Friend Stream.
Recently I have problem with the Facebook app, where it suddenly crashes and closes without any error or FC after I click on notifications or after I try to scroll down on the "more" menu (the 3 stripes on the right). At first I thought it's kernel or ROM issue but it happened on 3 different ROMs after full wipe! Does anyone else experience this also?
