Is it possible for skmeone to make an app thag will let you use
The new ps3 wireless headset. As headphones and mic on the phones?
That would be so awesome
anybody??? it would be awesome
I cant beleive nobody is even interested in this
I am! Would be great to have an android app that pairs the phone to ps3 so you can use it as a wireless headset while gaming. cant believe it hasnt been developed yet!
Heres some more info for you and the reason why it cant be done.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/4474697/use-android-device-as-a-headset-for-another-device
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Tha would be kool to but thats not what i want lol..
I want to use the headset as a headset for my phone
so i can walk around listening to music, and be able to answer calls with the built in mic.. lol
I would also be interested in being able to use the new ps3 wireless headphones with my android. Im sure it must be possible to write a driver/app that could use the USB dongle through USB host adapter or something like that?
I would love if one of the devs makes the wireless headset to work on the sgs2, although i see that might never happen
Someone make it happen!!!
Mic + Phone works on galaxy note
I used viber with ps3 headphone and it worked with galaxy note 10.1 and galaxy note ii.
On galaxy note ii, i just needed to use an otg micro usb cable.
On galaxy note 10.1, a usb hub with external power supply was necessary.
Both devices have jelly bean 4.1.2
mic doesn't work

I think i was wrong about the mic. I might have heard the voice captured by the device speakers. I think the mic doesn't work on android.
Although it works as a headphone, not all apps use the headphone as output, like skype.
Has anyone else tested this headset on other devices?
Resurrecting the thread.
I'm using a ps3 headset perfectly with my galaxy s6, with an otg micro usb cable.

->[Q] Tablet with digital audio out [tablet->optical(toslink or coax)cable->DAC]
Hello,
I've tried the search and couldn't find anything relating to my issue.
I need a portable device/music player that has the ability to stream digital audio to my DAC (digital to analog converter).
I would like to listen to my music in my car using this tablet/music player. I have a DAC/Signal prosessor which has both optical coax and toslink inputs to recieve the signal so either one is fine.
Here is the signal path explained once again:
tablet -> optical toslink or coax cable -> DAC -> any given audio system (In my case also car audio system)
Please help me choose a tablet or help me find a way to do this. I know that some tablets have hdmi out, but it gets a little too tricky to seperate the digital audio signal from hdmi port to spdif, am I right?
Any help is greatly appreciated,
-Tersi
Guys, I don't mean to be impatient but I thought this was the place to get some answers to my problem.
Is there a way to send digital audio via usb port? I think there are ways to convert digital audio from usb to spdif..
Or could there maybe be a docking station, that has a digital audio output?
Please share your knowlage of the tablet world!
I am also looking for this too! I want to use a tablet as a car pc and run the audio out of it digitally to prevent all noise and ground loop headaches.
Did anyone ever get anywhere with this. I'm looking to do the exact same thing and the HDMI converter kit I bought is useless so I'm looking for another go around.
ainol novo basic
I just received an ainol novo basic w/ ICS (mcbub.com from LA). It uses a MIPS processor so not all apps are 100% compatible, however I am able to use it as intended (music player). If you tether you can use pandora, slacker, etc.
I take the HDMI out into a monoprice 5557 (sorry no url)
HDMI converter which outputs toslink, analog, RCA.
I use this in a home application (110v), however they are low power and you can use it in a car.
Be careful you need the Ainol Basic because it has the HDMI output. The paladin (which I also have) does not.
I'm sure there are others but for $130 I doubt you will do better, especially because it's running ICS also.
I use RCA optical into my Fiio DAC (sounds better). Toslink works too.
Monoprice switch uses ~3W on 5V, the Ainol is powered by miniusb.
I'm sure you have an onboard DAC (Fiio is excellent tho), but if you dont I recommend it. It has issues w/ 5.1 audio tho, so only pass it stereo.
I haven't tested 5.1 sound on it, although the specs say it will pass it. Your DAC will probably be the issue.
HTH.
Is this the only tablet that can do that? I was also considering this. Doing digital to the back of the car and then running it to a powerful car audio system.
I am also looking for this tablet or solution to this problem. Anybody knows?

What kind of tablet do you have there are otg and charging kernels for most of the popular tablets and a few tricks for any samsung that supports otg...and if ur tablet doesn't support it u can wire a relay to a moded cable that will charge when the car is off and otg when car is on.. if u need details let me know.

According to the test on Galaxy s3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704379
it appear to be possible to stream audio from the micro usb of a phone...into something like fiio e7.
just curious, has anyone with our HOX LTE try this out on his/her phone to see if it has this capability?
I haven't used fiio e7, but I did use a MHL connector to connect via HDMI to a television.

Bad news..audio out through usb is not supported on the one x...for now! i tried it in my car but no go. Bluetooth works fine though
I'd definitely like to see this in the future! Do we need kernel source to make this happen?
Is there a composite av cable for the s3? I'd like to be able to hook my phone up to my car's rear video screen so kids can watch movies through phone.
I'm only aware of the Galaxy S III outputting digital video via an HDMI adapter through the USB port. So, you could get that cable and then purchase an HDMI-to-composite converter, if that is battery powered or otherwise can be charged within the car.
I was looking at this Sima product, but would guess it won't work in this case.

I just bought these two products to accomplish this- will these do the trick?

probably not because the s3 has a new MHL connector that uses more hidden pins
Can the S6 be played through my car radio via USB? I don't have Bluetooth (or 3.5 mm) in my car and this is one of the reasons I've thought about switching to an iphone. I know this isn't possible with my Nexus 4 but I was wondering if Samsung has done anything about this.

I'm not 100% certain but I believe it still isn't possible even with the S6 to play music via a USB cable in your car. I'm not sure if you have a cassette slot in your car but you can get a cheap adapter for your cassette slot which gives you an aux input. They can be found quite cheap on amazon, maybe $15 or so.

Doesn't Samsung support USB mass storage? It should work
Sadly, a lot of the infotainment systems (that have USB ports) on cars are really optimized for iOS and not for Android.
eg. Toyota, Hyundai, KIA, VW, Benz, and many more. The systems on those brands usually only work with Android via 3.5mm audio jack or through Bluetooth.
Using a cassette adapter has OK sound quality, but it's not that great.
@ OP: It's unlikely that a Galaxy S6 will play its media through USB for your car.
This is Samsung's flagship android device??
This is a major disappointment.
With my S3 I was able to play music on my car's sound system via the USB cable but apparently this is impossible with the S6.
Another major downer is the inability to add additional storage.
So, I have an interesting issue. I think it is a deep seated Android one, so I'm not liking my chances but......
Setup:
Samsung Galaxy Tab S7+ ---> Dell WD15 USB dock (I have also tried a plain old USB-C Hub)
Android 11, with latest updates possible.
When I connect my USB DAC (a Grace SDAC) which connects to my headphone amp - it works perfectly. Android shows the DAC in 'media' as a "Headset"
When I connect my ModMic Wireless microphone's USB dongle, the DAC stops working and switches to the tablets internal speakers
When I connect a 3.5mm mic to the doc's headset 3.5mm jack the DAC stops working and switches to the tablets internal speakers
Some apps dont seem to work with the modmic wireless. Some dont work unless I plug in the USB dongle while the app is running - That's app problems, I get that
All Apps seem to support using the mic via the 3.5mm jack.
The opposite is also true, if I have a mic connected (USBor 3.5mm) then connect the DAC, the DAC works, but the mic stops and switches to the tablet internal mics.
What I seem to have found is that it is impossible, in android, to use both a USB DAC and any kind of microphone.
Has anyone had this kind of thing working before? Is there something I can do/try? are there logs or something I can look at which might help here?
I'd love to get this working, but I dont think thats possible... I would like to know why or see some real detail behind why it won't work..
Thanks!!
