Fring always log me out when the phone is on Idle or display lock.
Has anybody here experience the same thing?
Its just annoying that everytime I unlock the phone display thats the time that Fring logs me in and I have no autotask killer installed on my phone
Sometimes it logs me out sometimes it doesn't eventhough Im always connected to wifi or 4G.
It should be ALWAYS running on the background. Any workaround on this? I just want to keep t running on background......
Thanks in advance!

Same problem with me, but not because of Idle or display block. It just says I signed in from another device, and sings out after minute of signing on. It really sucks. And this new feature Playground also drives me crazy.
I guess it started right after updating. And the reason is this new feature, because it needs severe packet exchange.
For now, reinstalling of fring works for me, but I don't think it will stay long.
In General, this new update was awful. Some of my friends say that they saw me online when I actually was offline and also after asking me they realized that my account is used by different person. That's pretty sucks . Also I see in my list of people names which I never saw and never added. In add-ons it appears that some of accounts are singed in even I erased my account info.
If any of you guys have such problems, please, write. If it is not unique case. I prefer delete my account for a while because it seems fring team made some mess in a new update.
HTC Sensation,
S-On, Unrooted
Fring has a new update. They revert back to classic fring. Playground is a separate app now.
Still logs me out from intermittently...
As for the unknown friends. I just delete them. I'm still a Fring user their VoIP is amazing...

Year, installed new update and now everything is just perfect.
About VoIP, did you use any other systems? Pros and Cons please.

I only Tried Skype and call centric. So far fring has the least drop calls/ lost connection.. the only issue is, it logs me out intermittently
Interesting, on my Sensation, it stays logged in (though can't connect through wifi at the London office so it obviously uses a blocked port, just keeps trying in the background until I leave the office and it picks up 3G)
My fiancee has my old HD2 running a Sensation ROM and her's logs her out after a while.

Worth the trouble having to set my phone back up again from ground zero.. Well, it was worth it. feels more like a smart phone.. Better keyboard, more accurate.. Swype works way better With you now..
It is a bit more responsive.. Feels like you get more out of it.. Voice texting works really well. Battery lasts longer.. That's what I got to say.

Well, that's the point of updates. They are supposed to make things better. I'm glad you like it!
I sure hope you don't decide to root. My wife was dead set against me rooting her phone, but she ran into a problem that was best fixed with root privileges, so she gave in. She is glad she did. Downgrading and rooting that phone is a beast for someone new to it.

I tried to root it several times.. As a person that has used custom mods in the past I was looking to see what else there was out there.. Have experienced quirky behavior in the past so now I'm glad I have a stock phone with a decent update that feels good to use as is.

The gingerbread update is what made me fall in love with my phone all over again. That being said...my one and only gripe....and the reason I rooted:
I couldn't send mms without having a data connection enabled. Couldn't receive either. Before the update, I could see there would be a momentary connection to data but only for the quick downloading of the image in the text message, even though my mobile network was off. After the update, it didn't function this way, forcing me to have to hawk my data connection/syncing when not on wi-fi...which was a hassle.
That and the whole CIQ business. Made my stomach hurt.
Sparky....are you saying that you can do mms now without data enabled?
If so, tell me more!

You do realize there's been a rooted and deodexed rom that's stock 2.3.4 right? You could've saved yourself a trip and rerooting. It's also going to take longer to actually root.. but if you like it stock that's all that matters So good luck!

On my stock mt4g (froyo), the Mrs. and I could send mms/sms without having to enable data. At first I thought the sms was going over wifi, after disabling WiFi and trying several different combinations, I noticed that my little H icon pops up only when I send or receive multimedia messages. No H icon for plain text.
Fast forward to the gb update. After updating, the only way I could send mms is while data is enabled. I tried editing the carrier network settings to match my wife's but to no avail. It's clear that the update did something to remove this temporary data connection for mms.
Fast forward to last week when I rooted and switched to cm 7.1. I still couldn't send mms without data enabled. Made me think I would have to make accommodations and live with it.
Then I flashed the virtuousAffinity Rom and Hello!!! Mms with data and WiFi disabled. Again, I'm certain its using data connection for mms, tmo doesn't count it towards usage so its fine. My only sadness now is that affinity is on hold while the team reorganized, but the Rom is gorgeous.
I just started flashing so I'm hoping if affinity falls through, I can find another Rom that let's me do the same.
Anyone have any idea what the issue is or when the crashing after every call and general instability will be fixed? SMS works beautifully but calling is spotty at best, even from ROMa like ARHD that claim to have working WiFi calling.
I fugure we will have to wait until an ICS TMOUS phone is released or the sensation is updated to ICSvon TMOUS.
I made a thread about this a few weeks ago and never got an answer. basically it's tmobile and the app itself that needs to be fixed, and there isn't a single ICS rom that it works on, I don't care what the rom chef says. For me I just turn it off immediately when I flash a new rom as it has never once worked for me during a call.
You have to wait until T-Mobile releases their ics update for the sensation.

I could be wrong but I have a feeling that the problem is caused by one of two reasons. One being that the app it self is really not fully compatible with ICS yet. Or, and I feel this is the more likely the reason, the kernel has been changed for ICS causing the WiFi calling app to not be able to function properly, meaning the kernel has to be reworked. I feel like this and maybe a couple of other kernel issues is why TMOUS has not started pushing out the OTA yet.
I am running arhd and wifi calling works like a charm. So its hit or miss.

I am on ARHD as well with no joy. I mean, occasionally I can get a call out on my Bluetooth, and my phone always rings, but usually won't go any further... multiple WiFi access points tested at various places. SMS and MMS are flawless, so I have been tolerating it.
In any case, I find it hard to believe it is working 100% for anyone yet.
Question for those who say it is working... after you end a call does the WiFi calling icon disappear for 20 seconds or so, then come back? Or after making a call the second one will hang with a green icon, then disappear and reappear again? If so, those are signs that the application is crashing and being restarted.
And if those aren't happening and WiFi calling is truly working, please post what WiFi router and internet provider you are using...
WiFi calling has multiple ways of getting out to the internet, some of which are kind of clever... to the point where it will work on most Aruba WiFi systems that use a captive portal...
At the college I work at, the Aruba technician doing an upgrade on our devices had to spend a good 30 minutes figuring out how it was bypassing the captive portal so he could block it.
Good luck finding somebody who will answer you with this, I tried in my own thread and never got a satisfactory answer. There are a few people as you see in this thread who claim it works great but I've never seen anybody explain exactly what their specific setup is. I'd like to know if it has anything to do with the router and/or type of wifi network you are on, the rom, the kernel....so many different variables. I'm like you, I just don't see how it could work 100% for somebody if so many others do NOT have working wifi calling.

Because annoying things like that happen. Gps is funky for me on all cyanogen builds, but works perfectly for everyone else, for example. Only works once per boot up. Freaky...but im the only one.
The fact is the updated version of the apk isnt out yet for wifi calling. So you have to be patient. Those of us who have it working might just be lucky. It happens.

Has anyone found a ics build with sense that works with wifi calling?
The major issue is kineto_gan.ko a module in /system/lib/module
It is one of the main files needed to run WiFi Calling. The problem is it is Gingerbread base and kind of like when you port items from one sense to another it doesn't play so well.
The secondary issue is there isn't anything on TMO with ICS yet until the One S comes out and with a lot of more recent phones TMOUS patches in the WiFi calling at a later time so we can't really extract it from there either (yet).
Then brings in the issue of WiFi encryption, setups, and so on that mess with the way the call is carried through the network to properly register to TMO.
So it is like others have said. Some people will have good luck some wont. At home mine gets texts just fine but calls I can't rely on it and won't until Tmobile gets us a version we can use.
Yeah I think even when the one s comes out even though won't be helpful either. That will probably have the newer IMS wifi calling like the amaze does and not be compatible because that is more reliant on hardware supposedly and if nothing else needs a newer sim.
May need to wait till there is a offical rom update relased from T-Mobile.
I haven't had reliable wifi calling in any ROM in at least the last 6 months. Would work fine and then crash, requiring a reboot to fix only to repeat the process. Sometimes that crash took 2 minutes and sometimes 30.
With the ICS builds I've been trying it's always closer to 2 minutes but text works fine. It's been rough since I rely on the wifi calling because of the weak signal when I'm at home. I'm expecting it will be much more reliable when T-Mobile releases the official Sensation build which they sent back to HTC,... because of the wifi problem from what I've heard.
Lucky I found this thread (thank you Google), I thought i was having a bad time with calls dying after 5 minutes or so, but from what I hear from you guys, guess I've got it good (just gotta make sure I'm not on wifi calling during an important call). Although, i really wished it worked well for voice calls as I'm always within different buildings and no guarantee of signal in there (same for my apartment). SMS & MMS work fine though
I'm running latest ARHD (ICS) btw. Although some of this problem might be due to the devices themselves different config, etc.
I'm using Virtuous Inquisition v4.0.1 and WiFi calling works perfectly fine with fast connection. It didn't work so well for me on ARHD
It's hit or miss. Not much in between. Stick with gb if you want WiFi calling to work. That's what I have to do. People on here act like you're crazy to want WiFi callinh to work.
Just got my One X from AT&T the other day.. Cancelled my Verizon contract to come over to this phone, came from an iPhone 4s.
This isn't my first rodeo when it comes to Android devices, I sampled just about every VZW device they offered.
After playing with the One X for a few days, I have noticed a couple things; one of which I think is a software bug.
1. Sometimes the WiFi doesn't disconnect, or realize that it is no longer in range of a connected access point. This morning for example, when I got to work it thought I was still connected to my home access point and as such wouldn't connect to the work access point, until I manually went into the WiFi settings. It's almost like a background process stopped and didn't start up again until I did something.
2. The HTC Sense integration with Facebook is really cool, however, even though I told it *not* to show any contacts on my contact list, when I sync my phone with my car's bluetooth system, it downloads not only the contacts I want to see, but all of my Facebook contacts also. Any way to use the FB integration but truly not download/present the contacts to a bluetooth device?
So far, I am really liking the phone. The screen is absolutely amazing and I really, really like what Sense 4 has added. I had a Rezound with the ICS rom on it, but you can definitely tell that HTC took a lot of feedback coming from the older versions of Sense and incorporated it into Sense 4.
all these bugs people are reporting should be addressed in a software update pretty soon. they will probably give it a few weeks to gather all the data, fix the problems (which they are already doing im sure) and get it OTA. the first software update should iron out a bunch of small issues we are running into!
Search wifi issue in forums using the search feature... But..
Change wifi settings in advance to 2.5 ghrz or was it 2.4

the fix for the WiFi issue is HERE, but you will have to root the phone first. The FB issue has also been posted in several places so hopefully AT&T will pick that up as well.
I accidentally broke my Samsung last week so went back to my Inspire, good phone never had problems with it before. However I noticed that the Inspire's battery drained really fast now, where I'd have to charge it twice a day even if I barely used it. I assumed the phone was old and I just needed to replace the battery. Then a couple days ago I got a text from AT&T saying I had almost reached my 2GB monthly data cap (never even used over 300MB before) so I checked the AT&T data usage site and apparently every day my phone has been sending huge data files in the 30-60MB range multiple times a day.
I don't even know what these files could be because I haven't even downloaded any files that large. Phone is NOT rooted. Aside from updating Angry Birds, I haven't installed any new apps or added any new accounts lately, everything is exactly the same as it has always been. Restarted the phone a couple times to see if it was a fluke but didn't help. Had to completely disable mobile data for now.
Any idea what could be causing this? Any way to check exactly what files/data are being sent?
Check what has been using your battery up. In about phone-> battery. Whatever it is should show up there.

What I would do is completely wipe the device and start over. I really can't think of anything off the top of my head that would send that much data. It's possible its just bugging out and the Qualcomm snooper program is staying constantly active or something along those lines. Or you could uninstall everything and see if it goes away and then reinstall stuff slowly and see if you can pin it down to one app. That is a lot of data though. Not to cause alarm but you might also want to check the possibly of some sort of hack or virus that may have infected your device.

Yeah that might be the best thing to do (just wipe it all and start over), shouldn't be too hard to import my mail settings and contacts, that's all I really need.
How do you check for hacks/viruses?
I hard reset the phone, however when I synced my contacts back after it automatically re-downloaded all of my apps for some reason. High data usage is still there. So either it's a problem with an app, or the phone itself is just messed up. The battery usage only shows cell standby and dialer using it up and it won't show which apps are using the battery for some reason.

This is the HTC Inspire 4G forums. I would strongly recommend that you post in the Galaxy S2 forums. They will know how to answer your question better than us users of another phone.
I've had wifi issues since I purchased my htc one x for AT&T in may. I have had the hone replaced and the issue was never resolved and I'm kid of fed up with it for the fact that everyone I know who has an android device other then a one x don't have these issues. Issue seems to be Interment but happens a lot actually all the time.
Basically my issue is I have wifi turned on sometimes I lose connection.i notice this due to delayed alerts at times and when I'm using the phone such as on the play store, Facebook or any app that uses the I telnet every once in a while ill get a connection loss message and have to wait for the Internet to come back, usually comes back quick but still very annoying. Another ways can tel is when the phone is in sleep mode is when it happens the most. For example ill unlock the screen at times then all of a sudden I receive all my alerts such as gmail, google talk and any other alert that never came through b c of loss of connection. I also notice a lot when I open google talk right after I unlock my screen that it says I'm offline, then after a few I see it come online and if I had any google talk messages they then come through. I also see the time stamps when this happens, like emails come in and google talk messages and they can be anywhere from like 2-15 mins delayed at times.
I have also performed various of tests when the phone is asleep and I s end myself an email or google talk message and it does not come in until I unlock the phone. FYI this is Interment does not happen all the time but happens very often.
Are you guys still having issues with wifi ? Will getting a replacement possibly resolve the issue or sis this a known issue that cannot be fixed? I love the phone but sick and tire of not receiving all my alerts in real time. This is the first android phone with this type of issue and so frustrated.
Have you checked your wifi settings to make sure it's staying connected while the phone is asleep?

Yes of course checked all bases including forums for the last couple of months. Please note as per my op even when I'm using the phone sometimes I get lost connection errors even while using the Facebook app etc like google play store and other apps. So although while asleep seems to happen the most it also happens during normal use.
This is a known issue with many HTC phones. Even if you have WiFi to never sleep, when your display turns off the WiFi goes into some sort of battery saver mode. It doesn't turn off completely so you get your alerts eventually. I have not found a working solution short of flashing a custom Rom. HTC knows about this but hasn't fixed it. They think it is working as it should...

Thanks for clarifying this for me. If you flash a rom like for example cm10 or other rooms it can resolve this issue? Funny bc if wifi is shut off on just data works good, but the whole point is to use wifi as much as possible since I only have 3gb limited. I was thinking of upgrading to a one x+ but I'm afraid it will have the same issue as the normal, one x. This makes me want to go with a different company such as Samsung etc.. Anyways thanks for your help.
