Hello,
I have purchased a used optimus 3D from ebay.
The description shows "P920, Limited Edition, Developers Version, Unlocked"
the box of the device is exactly the same as the retail version (red box)
it is used but appearantly in an excellent condition.
my question is, can I use the same root that your are guys are using?
can I flash the same ROMs meant for the retail version?
Are there any differences between what I have purchased and the retail version?
thank you and I hope I will enjoy my new phone
may i know the stock rom version of your o3d.?
Yep, Give sceenschot or write what firmware u have.
But it should be the same
I haven't received it yet. It will take few days as it is an international shipping.
will let you know once I receive it
it will sjut be one of the google i/o dev phones and no different to the retail version.
Finally received the phone and gave a negative feedback to the seller for lack of communication and very delayed shipping (Did not ship untill I disputed the transaction). Anyway...
Device is P920
Software Version is P920-V08j-MAY-03-2011
I will try OTA update when I go home.
That's the same phone I have. OTA didn't work for me (in June/July) so I rooted with Super one click, installed CWM and have been updating that way.

Dear All,
I am very new to Android and I bought my first android phone Motorola Fire XT 530 which is relatively a new comer in the market. I rooted my phone using the below link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271114, but I couldnt find any ROMs for this phone. Motorola has officially announced no ICS update for this model. Request any of the developer to throw some light on this model as this is the model of masses (cheaper phone). Also this model is not even available in XDA site. Please try to include this as well.
PLease post links to any good ROMs for this model

Motorola Fire XT has a locked bootloader. So we are not able to load any custom ROM or recovery to it.
However we are trying to do it by bypassing bootloader(like Moto Defy) but still no success.
Hit thanks if I've helped you.

Hello, a friend of mine, bless his heart, took all the updates from AT&T for his HTC One X. Now it has the dreaded 5.18.502.1 firmware that can't be rolled back (or can it?). He recently got a new phone and I would like to buy his off of him, but if it's not able to be rooted, I will likely decline. So I was wondering, is ANYONE working on a root for this, or does anyone know of anybody who is? If it's in process, I might still buy it and suck it up for a few months until it becomes publicly available, so I would like to know. I would like to get off of my Huawei Sonic on Cyanogen 7.2, since no further updates are available for it and probably never will be (for the price, it's a great phone once rooted and flashed with a Benru89's ROM). Thanks!

There is no root method available for the latest 5.18 firmware. It cannot be rolled back without s-off, which would first require an unlocked bootloader and root, such would first need a root method. I doubt whether a hack for this latest software like firmware is being worked on or will be released. It might happen, but I certainly wouldn't hold your breathe.

Hi all,
I've tried googling around and searching the forums here for this question but I can't seem to find the exact scenario I'm looking for. Sorry if it's a bit of a noob question.
I recently bought an unlocked Moto G 4G from Amazon (Moto's edition, not GPE) and I'm currently using it on T-mobile. When Lollipop is eventually released, will I receive an OTA update from Google? Or will I receive it at all? I ask because I know T-mobile doesn't actually offer the Moto G so I can't imagine the update coming from them. I'm just wondering if I'll have to do some work myself to get it on the device or if I'll get something automatically.
Thanks for any help.

The first part of your question Iv answered in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56290476&postcount=274
The second half of your question is if you bought it from a retailer sim free you will get an update direct from Motorola
In about phone if it says peregrine_ret then your country then it's the retail version
You can also check the Motorola website as it will list release date when they announce it

You will get it directly from Motorola, at the same time as all the other retail moto Gs in your part of the world.

My phone does say peregrine_ret under about phone. So that would mean I'll get an update from Motorola when they release their Lollipop version for the G, right? Thanks for your help!

You should do long as you are on stock rom and don't have any xposed modules which break otas installed but you can always flash a fresh stock rom if that is the case in order to upgrade
Hi, I'm looking at getting a 32GB XT1080M to use as a test phone for roms, and possibly to develop on... As such I want to have one with an unlocked bootloader, but I haven't seen one for sale.
The Sunshine website states any 2013 Droid running 4.4.3 or below IS unlockable, so as long as I don't buy one running 4.4.4, I should be safe, right?
Second, I seem to recall something about being able to tell versions by the different storage sizes - something like all 16GB models came with 4.4.4 factory-installed. Is that correct? I thought I had bookmarked those threads but I can't find them at the moment.
Hi,
4.4.4, build 4-21 is the last one that can be bootloader unlocked with Sunshine. Go for that or anything below (4.4 or 4.4.2).
I advise that you ask the seller before purchasing to verify the version (Android version, System version and Build number), then search it if it can be unlocked.

Thanks for that detail. I certainly am asking, though it's not always easy. The seller I'm currently talking to keeps replying that they can install the Android version I want. Which means that it's either not updated to 4.4.4, or that they think you can downgrade from it.
Yeah, not easy with sellers who don't know a thing about their devices... I hope you find a device with an appropriate version or a developer edition.

nagim, would you also happen to know which release prevented downgrading to older versions?
I was under the impression that was a KitKat limitation, in which case I would pretty much have to find a phone still on 4.2.2 to be able to do any work with JellyBean. Is that correct?
Hi, I recently updated from Android 11 to 12 and I want to go back (reasons). I have a Moto G31 bought in the Philippines.
My question is mainly about stock roms if I were to flash the firmware:
- Would I be able to get it to be identical to when I bought the phone? i.e all the same few preinstalled Moto apps and it would still go through all the normal Moto updates again?
- Would the warranty (according to the device itself) be intact? also, in other words, would the phone itself know it was different from when I first bought it?
- Would a stock rom from say Brazil be different to the one I should have on my Phillippines model (assuming they both have the exact same version number RRWB31.Q3-46-85)?
Thank you in advance for any replies
You are not the only one wanting to go back. I have found the correct ROM for me (eu) but not the correct instructions. The Lenovo forum has several pages in the thread for Android 12 problems on the G31 and people are pretty upset. There is another thread here too asking for help on rolling back the ROM, and I hope someone here on XDA who is knowledgeable can help.
