I am very new to Android and I bought my first android phone Motorola Fire XT 530 which is relatively a new comer in the market. I rooted my phone using the below link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271114, but I couldnt find any ROMs for this phone. Motorola has officially announced no ICS update for this model. Request any of the developer to throw some light on this model as this is the model of masses (cheaper phone). Also this model is not even available in XDA site. Please try to include this as well.
PLease post links to any good ROMs for this model

Motorola Fire XT has a locked bootloader. So we are not able to load any custom ROM or recovery to it.
However we are trying to do it by bypassing bootloader(like Moto Defy) but still no success.

Hello peoples,
firstly is there anyone who has a moto backflip in India ? If so , does it come with the moto blur ?
A friend of mine has a moto backflip and it doesnt even seem to have BLUR installed .
also , to upgrade to the new 2.1 , the moto site says that the software requirments are : Blur_Version.0.13.37.MB300.ATT.en.US . But he seems to have Moto_version.0.4.9.mb300.retail.EN.02
So how does he upgrade ? What needs to be done ?
Please help as he isn't able to use most of the good apps since most of them require a 2.* to be running on your device.
Motorola Backflip comes with 1.5 version in India
I am from India and i have motorola backflip ,there is no blur installed and also in India moto backflip comes with 1.5 version only and till now there is no upgrade for moto backflip.

Hi frendz, I too am a backflip user from India and to say the least, we all Indian users have been $cre*d royally by motorola.
Our devices don't come with motoblur(one of the main reasons of me buying this device) and as per motorola support forum, we are stuck with android 1.5 forever, when the others are using the better, zippier upgraded OS versions.
My suggestion is to sell off the device asap.
Also, i tried to root my device, but it failed as the rageinthecage cannot be run from the connectbot in my phone!! so no custom rom also

I have purchased a used optimus 3D from ebay.
The description shows "P920, Limited Edition, Developers Version, Unlocked"
the box of the device is exactly the same as the retail version (red box)
it is used but appearantly in an excellent condition.
my question is, can I use the same root that your are guys are using?
can I flash the same ROMs meant for the retail version?
Are there any differences between what I have purchased and the retail version?

Finally received the phone and gave a negative feedback to the seller for lack of communication and very delayed shipping (Did not ship untill I disputed the transaction). Anyway...

I will try OTA update when I go home.
That's the same phone I have. OTA didn't work for me (in June/July) so I rooted with Super one click, installed CWM and have been updating that way.

Yes you're right, but if you want to try you can use team eos 4 custom rom... there are the nightlies version but it still full of bugs, and the thread isn't created yet maybe teameos still working on it. You can use the team eos 3 jelly bean 4.1 (stable)

Sorry I just give you wrong answer, but you can go to development thread.. in my country there's a forum that explain how to root and how if the device bricked, or another what are you asking. I'm from indonesia.

If you can buy a newer one then go for that... 4.2 you can run but getting 3G is not something we can promise. I myself have MZ601 and I am using a custom ROM that is meant for MZ604 and hence I do not have 3G.
There will be no further development for this, so you might as well look for newer tabs if you want latest build, else you can definitely buy one

few things
1 - xoom is 2 years old, and will no longer receive official updates. all updates from now on will be through custom roms brought to us by wonderful developers like Team EOS and Team Rogue.
2 - there is still good support, just check out this forum. lots of stickies on what you need to know. use the search function and you should find everything you need.
3 - yes. my current xoom mz601 is running 4.2.1 thanks to the developers mentioned above. since it is from the US and currently i am also in egypt, i have to 3g service, so i just flash the wifi only roms. Search the forums, there are plenty of guides on rooting and flashing custom roms.
The Motorola Xoom is bound to receive it's final update in Jellybean 4.1 or 4.2 beyond that it's doubtful that Motorola will update. Unless they are not releasing another table this year.

Yup. I read bout it yesterday. It seemed to slip under my radar. Guess it's time to unlock and root to get updates. That's the beauty of android. Always an alternative.

I'm looking for the developer edition firmwares for 2013 Droid models (both Mini and Maxx, but hey Ultra you're welcome), flashable via RSD Lite.
I could only find the Verizon ones.
I'm even wondering if these firmwares just don't exist as I didn't find any trace ?

Firmware is identical. Only difference of Dev edition is ability to get unlock code from moto and warranty surviving doing so.

I looked for a Dev edition for a couple months and finally have up. Instead I decided to look for one that was 'not' on 4.4.4 and found a used maxx on 'Swappa' that was on 4.2.2 so I could unlock the boot loader with the sunshine app.
You can get the actual firmware to flash onto your device directly from Motorola. Here is a copy of the e-mail I received from them along with the download request link.
This link will give you access to the software you requested. To re-lock an unlocked Motorola
device, you must first re-load the original Motorola device software image. Download the image we’ve shared with you here to a computer, and using the Android SDK, follow the instructions on this page to flash and re-lock your device:

I'm looking for a new phone for under $200. Refurbished. I was looking at Droid turbo, but I can't find one that hasn't already been updated and I want to unlock bootloader and root. Can anyone recommend a phone that I should look at that can be rooted?

I just bought a used XT1254 /Turbo on eBay that was still on KitKat, flashed to version of Lollipop that works with Sunshine, and now running CM13
doesn't help you, but it's still possible
all firmware versions for moto X (2014) can be unlocked with sunshine app
I almost bought one of those instead
