I have installed latest infused v2.1 ROM.
When I read an email in gmail app, on the phone it shows as read, but on my computer it is showing as unread. Also on my phone, it says inbox has 1 unread mail, where as there are no unread emails on the phone.
I checked my sync options. GMAIL shows as synced just now. but still it shows the email as unread. Do you know whats going on.
TIA.

Sometimes gmail's sync gets broken. Often happens after an excessive amount of time with poor connectivity/signal, or if you accidentally restored all apps with data instead of missing-only.
Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Gmail->Clear Data
Thanks for your help. It worked.

Hi people... WM6.0 is bugging me - every time I send/receive it deletes all of my old mail... Is there any way to turn this off?
Thanks in advance!
No ideas?
I have the same issue with GMAIL, but could not find a setting on the device to stop the inbox deletes. Also, the gmail pop3 settings online are not that clear on what to do?
I have the same problem, and the only way I found to keep my important mail, is by moving them to the spam folder...
If you configure the settings for the mail account to download "All messages" then they won't get deleted unless you delete them manually (in which case they'll disappear next time you send/receive). Just make sure you've only got what you need in your server Inbox....or you've got an unlimited data plan as it may take a while to download them all!!
By default, new mail accounts are setup to download "messages from the last three days" IIRC, which is why messages older than that will disappear from the phone's Inbox on a send/receive.
HTH,
Mark.

gmail has a problem that it deletes any read mail. Kinda sucks, but it happens
In the Gmail options (not on your phone, but on the webpage) you can set it to retain a copy of the mail after POP retrieval.

It's not a GMail problem, this happens with all my POP3 accounts. My retrieval settings are already on All Mail - any more bright ideas?
I have a Sprint Touch Pro and the new email notification is stuck in TF3D. It was working fine for a few days, but now it always says I have 1 unread email. I am not syncing email with activesync, just using IMAP gmail. I removed my gmail account and did a soft reset... it still shows 1 unread email. It's driving me nuts! If I actually have 1 unread email in gmail, it shows I have 2. If i have 0 unread emails, it shows I have 1. Where the heck is this setting stored? Something is obviously stuck but I can't find it. Thanks in advance.
I seem to be having this problem myself, but with the voicemail notification.
Keeps sayins I have 1 new voicemail, but when i check it, i don't have anything there.
bump. I'm sure others will experience this. 2 friends at work have the same thing happening to them as well. Anyone have any ideas?
Try clicking on All Messages... in the mobile outlook window check all your accounts (sent, inbox, drafts, etc.) and make sure there is no unread mails. I had this happen to me after I setup a new account. There is a new default mail that is created when you create a new account that I had missed.

Having the same problem with "1 New Voicemail" in TF3D and the little icon in status bar I select dismiss voicemail notification but it stays there.
: Edit Myculito are you using Phone Alarm by any chance?
I just "tap and held" on the notification on PhoneAlarm and said "Reset Count" and it seems to be gone now,
Jules
Just wanted to post my fix.
I do not have the issue with voicemail, only the new email notifications.
The steps that alexk1f described worked like a charm... just forgot to update my thread that it was solved. Thanks alexk1f!

Jules, I'm not using PhoneAlarm.
I fixed the stuck Voicemail issue. I made a call, and left 2 new voicemails to make sure that there were at least messages there.
I then checked my voicemail from the phone, and all is good now.
There is a cab to fix this. Search through the English ROMeOS thread in the ROM development forum
So the fix was for vmail but not messaging. What it looks like is that TF3D has old text messages wedged in cached somewhere - I had two text messages that kept showing up despite deletes. They finally stopped getting delivered and the inbox is clean but the image and notification persists.
Try SKTools and clear the notification queue.
I have this issue too on my Touch HD
I have cleared duplicate notifications in the queue, but I am unsure what else to clear, and the 1 mail notification is still there.
Any other ideas?
OK fixed, it seems as though that damn ghost email had been created in two places, not just in my email inbox, but also in the activesync one, which I hadn't even set-up.
Probably worth going through every single folder in messaging even if you think you know better

Try this when you go to email tab select inbox and see if you have any email in one of your inboxs I had the same problem and when i went to inbox i found an email that wasnt being accessed from the tab.
Hope it works for you
Try this
fixunreadcount:
http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&q=fixunreadcount.exe&meta=
seems if you go accounts> then hit the account that its reporting on it will clear it. Works for me anyway. RSS hub does this also... well Dont try to read while downloading i think it happens when i retreive attachments.

i had the voicemail issue.
i saved my self a new mail and then deleted it . it got rid ofthe notification.
thanks to the poster who suggested it.
Is anyone else having the problem with gmail and sending/ syncing the inbox? it just says "sending... " and never sends. Then I go and go through all my email on my phone and delete things and then when I go on the computer a half hour sometimes 3-4 hours later all my mail is unread and just like I never read anything.
Does anyone have any suggestions or another app that I could use besides the web app.

Yes, have had the same problems too. Not sure what the resolution is.
From what I've experienced, if you don't have auto-sync turned on, then you have to hit the menu button and hit refresh to manually send/receive again.
I have that checked, cannot add specifically "Gmail". My Gmail Contacts and Cal. are all being synced. Gmail will recieve messages but will not sync them with the gmail server after I delete/archive stuff.
I'm having this same issue.
Did anyone find a solution?
Are any of you Cognition users having problems with gmail syncing? I can get an initial sync to take place but new mail is not retrieved. Sometimes, when I manually refresh gmail, the new mail count will update, but it won't show the new emails. To get the new emails to show up, I have to go into another label (like Trash) and have that label download emails. When I then go into my inbox, the new emails appear.
This has been an issue for me on Cognition 9 and 9.1.
I've searched this issue and can't come up with a working solution. Most say to clear Gmail's App data, but that removes all data and does an initial sync. After this, new emails still don't arrive.
We all know by now that the phone has been weird with emails. Sometimes the push email works and sometimes it doesn't. My main issue was my Gmail. I have 3x Gmail and 2x Work.
This is what I did. So far, it's working 100%.
Please know, this will only work if you DON'T use the Gmail app.
1. Factory wiped the phone. Once started up, do not add your Google account yet.
2. Go into Settings and Apps and disable all your bloatware while you're here and make sure you disable the Gmail app. When you get out of it, it'll reload Sense. After this, go ahead and reboot your phone to be safe.
3. Now go ahead and go to Settings and Accounts and add your Google account. With Gmail disabled, it will not sync your email. Your choice if you want to sync Contacts.
4. Next, setup your Gmail via Microsoft Exchange via server method. Email and Username is your full email address. Leave Domain blank. The server address is m.google.com
5. When finished, set it up Push Email and not Smart Sync. If you did not sync your Contacts via Google, you can do it here also. Same with Calendar and Tasks.
Done!

With this method, I haven't had any issues...YET
Please comment if this works well for you.
Maybe we can see if it's just Gmail accounts in general or any Microsoft Exchange accounts too.
Please NO iOS vs Android statements
Or you can do what I did and go into your advanced wifi settings and enable Best Wifi Performance. Since I enabled this my push notifications have been coming instantly.

I had the issue regardless on WiFi, 4G, or LTE.
I am on LTE 100% so I prefer my faster connection
I know that this thread is about not using the Gmail app but I saw on the other thread about the email issues that some people complained about the Gmail app being slow too with getting push notifications.
I am a first time Android user and I have noticed that it usually takes several minutes for my phone to notify me in the GMail app. Is this normal across Android phones or does this push notification bug also affect the GMail app too?

This is NOT normal. The native gmail app should receive emails within 5-10 seconds (max) of when they would show up in your account if you were using a computer.
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
What worked for me was extremely simple. After I setup the accounts, I went back into "Accounts & Sync" and under each account, I simply toggled "Sync Mail" off, then back on. After I did that to each account, push was enabled and working on all accounts.
