hi
i'm trying on a htc desire to get the CWM 5.0.2.0 installed using rom manager,
however rom manager flashes correctly, tells me "flash blabla successfull" the writes "CWM version installed: 5.0.2.0" however when rebooting in recovery, it still displays V 2.0.5.7 or something...
why does rom manager tell me it's installed when it's not? what should i then do to correctly go to V 5 ?
thanks again..

so, I'm really confused on how to get clockwork recovery installed via rom manager.
I go to install it, I select "Samsung Epic", and it says its installed, I then reboot and it gives an error of failing to verify the signature. and I get the normal 4 line recovery mode and am able to reboot into my rooted stock everything epic 4g.
am I doing something wrong? a search didn't turn up anything about this via rom manager.
thanks.
Doing it through ROM Manager won't work, you need to do the "one click method" to get CW working.
ok, so wouldn't it be nice of the rom manager author to remove it from rom manager at this time?
You need to have a kernel that works with rom manager installed the stock kernel won't work.
so I was wrong to think that I'd use rom manager to install a non stock kernel after the fact? the non stock kernel actually has to be in place before?
Correct. ROM manager is not useful with the stock kernel.
You can, however, use clockworkmod independently of ROM manager by flashing it with the one-click root/CW.
I installed ClockworkMod's ROM Manager v.4.8.0.6 which includes ClockworkMod (CWM) to backup stock ROM on brand new Samsung i9000m.
Problem #1 with ROM Manager
CWM won't install because it does not have verified signatures which my device requires to install it.
I removed ROM Manager and re-booted.
I installed ROM Toolbox.
Problem #2 with ROM Manager
With ROM Toolbox, when trying to backup ROM I get the message:ROM Manager blocked other apps from creating backups in recovery unless ROM Manager Premium is installed.
Once you install ROM Manager Premium you can use ROM Toolbox to backup your ROM. From stock Recovery I wiped and restored, tried all over again with same results. I can reboot into stock recovery, but I cannot backup my ROM.
This is bad. No application should hook into and lock-up your device in such a way that you cannot get it properly recovered, or prevent another application from properly backing-up your ROM.
I have sent emails and tweets to the developer but have yet to receive a reply.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot proceed until I get a full backup, which from the message I am getting, ROM Manager is preventing from doing unless I send money.
you can search google or xda for cwm recovery or amonra and flash it

1) Try to reflash your recovery through ROM Manager and choose "new BB".
2) After you flashed CWM through ROM Manager try to reflash CM7 too, but back up your data first.
Did you install a custom kernel on CM7?
Also what do you mean by "i can't do recovery"? If you can't enter in the recovery mode or you can not install anything the only solution is the one above. Also pay attention that recoveries can install ONLY ZIP ARCHIVES, not other types of files.

Hi
1) I installed that KERNEL (2.6.35.14)] candiedIce v2.5.6 (2012-08-29) and the CM7-20120902-NIGHTLY-p500.zip
. after the BB upgrade, it's look's like the CM7 deleted beacause the phone back to it's first homescreen, the rom manager + the superuser deleted.
after that the phone info is:
android ver: 2.3.3
kernel ver: 2.6.35.10
build number: GRI40
softwer ver: LG P500 V20G
2) I can get to the CWM (power + vol+ home) and i can see the menu but it didn't respond it's stuck.
I tried to flash but i get a message that's said: "An error occured while attempting to run privileged commands!".
And when i tried to ROOT again with GINGERBREAK it's stuck. (run almost an hour and i stopped it)aginnors vere-
Lolz.. instead of upgrading baseband.. you flashed stock GB rom.
Your root is broken.. did you root using superoneclick?? Gingerbreak wont work in GB 2.3.3.
Use oneclick again and root it again. After that flash CWM 5.0.2.0 using Rom Manager.
Then do usual things to flash rom.. kernels.. etc!!
Hi
I used GingerBreak, and i already upgrade the BB, I cant found SuperOneClick all the link's is broken.
Is there anything to Reboot again.
Hi
I succeed to Root with SuperOneClick v2.3.3, but i can't to install the CM7 because the CMW is stuck.
Is there something thats i can do to delete or reinstall the CMW.
Install rom manager and flash clockworkmod from it

If you are on new baseband.. reflash cwm 5.0.2.0 through rom manager.
Select new bb when the flash option comes!!
Hi,
I downloaded and flashed my S2 with this firmware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1996714
Works very well. But I would like to have a better ClockworkMod Recovery. So I downloaded CWM Touch 5.8.1.5 (and also the "regular" CWM 4.0.1.5 as an alternative). I started the phone into recovery mode and used "apply zip". It says "replacing stock recovery", and the CWM Touch shows up with all functions working like a charm.
But next time I reboot the phone into recovery, the old recovery mode is present again. Same happens with the other CWM (4.0.1.5). It's like the installation is not done persistently on the partition but just temporarily into RAM ...
If I use the ROM Manager app to install one of the two CWMs, the app accepts the zip file, reboots the phone - but like before, the old recovery is still there. And it doesn't make a difference whether I select "wipe cache/data" and/or "wipe dalvik" prior to installation or not.
Is there a way of persistently installing this (or maybe a different) CWM?! Does it depend on the specific kernel that is in place with the firmware? Does said firmware and its kernel prevent installing a different CWM?
Regards,
Mac
Found a CWM6 here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1877270
Works alright and can be installed permanently.

The cwm of kernel doesn't allow another cwm to be installed!
Unless you're on stock kernel,I think this won't be possible!
But there should be a way out!!

Well, obviously it does. Said CWM 6 can be installed via Odin. I did not try CWM installation. This indeed may not work.

i installed CWM Version 6.0.3.1 via odin, now when i go to ROM manager, recovery setup i said yes to the pop up screen if i installed it manually... then it ask "confirm version" CWM 2.x or CWM 3.x+
which one do i chose?
Not compatible with rom manager...
