I installed ClockworkMod's ROM Manager v.4.8.0.6 which includes ClockworkMod (CWM) to backup stock ROM on brand new Samsung i9000m.
Problem #1 with ROM Manager
CWM won't install because it does not have verified signatures which my device requires to install it.
I removed ROM Manager and re-booted.
I installed ROM Toolbox.
Problem #2 with ROM Manager
With ROM Toolbox, when trying to backup ROM I get the message:ROM Manager blocked other apps from creating backups in recovery unless ROM Manager Premium is installed.
Once you install ROM Manager Premium you can use ROM Toolbox to backup your ROM. From stock Recovery I wiped and restored, tried all over again with same results. I can reboot into stock recovery, but I cannot backup my ROM.
This is bad. No application should hook into and lock-up your device in such a way that you cannot get it properly recovered, or prevent another application from properly backing-up your ROM.
I have sent emails and tweets to the developer but have yet to receive a reply.
Any help is greatly appreciated as I cannot proceed until I get a full backup, which from the message I am getting, ROM Manager is preventing from doing unless I send money.
you can search google or xda for cwm recovery or amonra and flash it

Hey all, the great Koush has updated the great ROM Manager App and says that it should greatly reduce “broken” recoveries because recovery will not need to be reflashed every ROM switch or wipe.
You can check out article and info here:
http://www.wjddesigns.com/2010/08/0...in-proves-its-the-easiest-way-to-flash-a-rom/
I think rather he meant that reflashing rom or reinstalling the app, it would still detect clockwork and not need to be reinstalled.
Yep...he said that it will ..greatly reduce “broken” recoveries because recovery will not need to be reflashed every ROM switch or wipe.
Love ur ROM work ur doing now....Cheers ..
Hi, I rooted my infuse using 1-click root and installed rom manager, I also flashed clockworkmod on it. I chose Galaxy S I9000 while flashing it. But when i choose backup current rom. It reboots to the recovery mod and does couple of commands and stops without doing anything. Can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?
Thank you.
Can anybody help?
Anyone else getting this issue? I used to be able to, but now I can no longer install custom recoveries.
I purchased the pro version of Rom Toolbox a while ago, and I'm tired of it not being compatible with my recovery (not allowing me to automatically flash roms, etc). Of course Rom Toolbox has an option to download and flash recoveries but it doesn't work any longer. Regardless of what I pick (rom toolbox allows for the download and installation of TWRP, CWR, CWR Touch, and CWR for Rom Toolbox) It always fails when flashing.
I also tried the app "Recovery Manager" which also failed to update my recovery to CWR Touch. It seems that only Rom Manager can update/change my recovery image, which seems very peculiar if you ask me...
Is there any fix to allow Rom Toolbox to flash my recovery successfully? I tried installing one via fastboot, but my computer couldn't detect my phone. (I probably just need to make sure the proper drivers are installed though) but would that really fix my Rom Toolbox issue?
It would be better to be asking the Rom Toolbox dev rather than the Nexus S community. Most people will flash their recovery using fastboot, because that's the always working way.
Disregard wrong thread

You could also use flash image gui... it's a paid app in the play store, but is also available here on xda by the dev

I was able to flash TWRP Recovery via Goo Manager, so now I know that it was an issue with Rom Toolbox and not my phone.
However Rom Toolbox tasks still aren't automatically done when I reboot :/ It looks like the modded CWR for Rom Toolbox isn't up and for whatever reason the newest version of Clockwork mod recovery isn't compatible with rom toolbox, even when rom manager is installed.
Well thanks. Hopefully Rom Manager and Rom Toolbox get things worked out.
Hello folks I have the US Verizon version of the Galaxy S III and when I try to install a rom from either Rom Toolbox or Rom Mananger I get sent to the recovery screen. Once I navigate to the selected rom I set a Signature Verification error and the little Android fella drops. What can I do to fix this. Not all roms act this way but this Miui rom doesn't seem to install. As a matter of fact, any rom I install via the recovery acts this way.
Please help. Thank you.
What recovery are you using? Instead of Rom manager use ez recovery and flash either cwm or TWRP and then flash the rom. Check the md5 of the rom to make sure it matches. I also think there is a setting in a custom recovery for signature verification

You cant flash roms from stock recovery...you need cwm or twrp recovery.
Being that I'm a newbie with this particular phone, I need help in terms of the method you guys are suggesting. I either use Rom Manager or Rom toolbox for flashing but was only successful with Rom Manager for at least two roms but were unstable. Please get back to me on steps on how to get around the Signature Verification where the little Android falls with a red error message.
Thanks.
Thank you for all the advice. I just installed Goo Manager which works with TWRP. I hope it works. I'll update as soon as possible.
I rooted my android and went ahead and got ROM Manager/ClockworkMod to flash and back up everything. Then I decided to install a custom ROM made for my android. Obviously you wipe everything on the device and factory reset to install the ROM with ClockworkMod. Now I'm curious as to how to go about putting ROM Manager back on my device since its not there after the wipe? I know that ClockworkMods functions still work as a reboot/flash/restore tool on start up because it's still embedded in the device, but do I just go ahead and re-install ROM Manager so I have the App on my App list/Home screen? Is there really no need to have ROM Managers functions anymore from the app and just access ClockworkMod by booting with special key functions? ROM Manager did install ClockworkMod for me so I'm just wondering.
I ask this because I have put ROM Manager back on the device but when I go to open it, I get the error 'process com.koushikdutta.rommanager has stopped unexpectedly.' This might be because of the custom ROM and its not compatible OR there are traces of ROM Manager from before the wipe and it's interfering with it. No idea. Any kind of info on this would help Thanks.
The device is pretty outdated lol. LG Optimus C (LW690) Android 2.2.1
I think there are traces of a previous jnstallation. Rom manager is not essential. Like u said. Cwm does the job
