This is a very simple database application. It lets you create databases on your SD Card in a folder named My Data. Shortcuts to particular tables in the database can be created in the Android launcher. The application lets you do the following:
- Create/Delete/Rename/Backup databases.
- Create/Delete/Rename tables.
- Create/Delete/Rename columns.
- Create/Delete/Edit rows.
- Create relationships between tables.
- The following types are supported: Text, Integer, Real, Check Box, Date, Time and Phone numbers.
- The application is also localized in French.
- When databases, tables or columns are deleted, a backup of the database is performed automatically. Use any file browser to find the databases and their backups under /mnt/sdcard/My Data.
- The application stores the database using the SQLite file format.
- The application relies heavily on long press gestures to bring up context menus that will let you do some of the above.
- The application manages automatically the primary and foreign keys. So when you are creating your tables, avoid creating primary keys and creating relationships that use them. Use the regular columns for defining relationships. The application even takes care of situations where the linked to values change.
- Referential integrity is implemented by nullyfing the referencers when the referenced rows are deleted.
- The app supports encrypting data.
Sorry the forum could not let me attach link.
But the app can be found by doing a search on PortoFarina My Data in the Android Market.
If it only could handle also arithmetical operations (+ - X /), and allow forms to enter data it would be perfect for me. Was searching for a replacement for SmartList, which i used in Palm and with an emulator in WM, and using Memento right now.
perfect to use as simple as primary need.
#claus1953's idea would be awesome but i prefer an user manual. it will help for new user.
This app is excellent and has great potential, not least for the developer. Why? There are a ton of mysql apps that are either merely table viewers or expensive cloud subscription services.
The developer should add the option to donate to the project in the app.
I would like to sponsor - inclusion of views and syncing to mysql (http://programmerguru.com/android-tutorial/how-to-sync-remote-mysql-db-to-sqlite-on-android/).

Hello
I would like to create a smartphone app.
At least for Android, but it would be great if it could be easily adapted for iPhone too.
The app will have many pictures (from 1000 to 10000) organized in different sections with a small description (text) associated with it and maybe some relations (links between them).
The user would be able to browse the pictures and search for an specific one.
More options will be added.
I've thought the best option would be to use a database, but that could be very limited in smartphones. I think simplest one is SQLite.
I need your advise.
How could I do it?.
I'll start with Phonegap and jquery.
What technology would you use?
Would it be better to leave all the pictures in a directory and create a index in the database linking to them?
or is it possible to "embed" that pictures within the database itself?
Any other option?

This thread is for reviews of free Journal & Note apps
While testing these apps, the following criteria will be adhered to:
1. Built around User Needs
2. Save & Store entirely to Internal or External SD card
3. Doesn't require Sign-in or creating an Account
4. Doesn't store things online or on cloud-type services by default
5. Works entirely Offline
6, Respects user privacy and allows users to exercise discretion
7. Doesn't appear built for the sole purpose of data collection or snooping
8, Has full functionality in their free version
9. Doesn't have intrusive ads, full-screen ads, flashing ads, distracting ads, etc..
10. Functions as a Note application and a Journal application, with simple retrieval and search
11. Exports completely to SD card
12. Uses Common export formats such as TXT, .RTF, .DOC, .PDF, etc.. which can be easily used on a variety of devices & platforms
13. Has a smart and Intuitive Design & Interface
14. Is fast and easy, and not bulky or bloated, etc.
15. Has minimal Permissions, confined to its main use and purpose only
Here are the star ratings used:
★★★★★ - Excellent
★★★★☆ - Lacking Usability
★★★☆☆ - Poorly Conceived
★★☆☆☆ - Not Recommended
★☆☆☆☆ - Useless Crapware Benefiting Developer
WARNING: These ratings are contingent on the developer not changing their app to include more spam or malicious intent and code, as often happens when apps gain more users and notability. Using apps even rated with 5 stars may result in a poor or unsafe experience, if the app developer changes the apps functionality or interaction either through Google updates, its own Recommended Internal Updates, or Hidden & Secret updates the program executes without the users knowledge or permission, which change the way ads appear or behave, or the way your personal information is handled, all of which is very common among Android Apps and amongst Android OS Developers.

Please feel free to add your own reviews for Journal Note apps below, following the criteria above.
I'll post the reviews hereafter as I get to them, editing this post to add further reviews, as apps are tested.

This is your personal need.
Most of the point I agree just good if few points are changed.
1. Need account based as just can be accessible by my username and password
2. I need everything online so when phone is lost those notes are safe and protected
3. I dont want it offline on sd card as it can be public.
I posted this to /r/Android before, but they suck, so I'll try my hand at posting it here.

I'd like to announce KeepShare Lite for KeePass
Well, it's not really a new app. KeepShare has been under development and available on the Play Store since 2013. The FREE Lite version is available now.
What is it?
KeepShare is a KeePass database reading and writing app for Android.
What makes it special?
It is built from the ground up to be completely different from any other solution available on Android. This application is the only implementation of KeePass for Android that allows one to securely unlock the database with a 4+ digit PIN. It also looks good because it's fully Material Design.
KeepShare is one of the first apps to have a custom keyboard for password entry, in addition to searching for database entries using a "Share" mechanism (hence the name KeepShare). In addition to this, it is also among the first password managers on Android to provide complete auto-fill support across all apps, including Chrome (requires Android 5.0+ for Chrome).
In addition to this, KeepShare supports Android 4.4+ Storage Access Framework, this means you can automatically connect and synchronize to your choice of cloud storage provider, including Google Drive, Box.net, OneDrive, etc.
It is also fully compatible with KeePass because it uses a 100% direct port of KeePassLib from C# to Java
How is KeepShare Lite different from KeepShare?
KeepShare Lite provides read-only support for KeePass databases. I recently completed write support for KeepShare, and as a result, I feel that it's enough of a feature delineation where I can give KeepShare Lite to everyone for free! Why do I want to give it away? Because everyone should be improving their security situation by making better use of strong passwords, and security should be easy.
Great, where can I get it?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.hanhuy.android.keepshare.lite
Help! I'm stuck
Yes, it's open source: issue tracker on github https://github.com/pfn/keepshare
I suppose posting here works, too!
What's this KeePassLib port?
Find it on github https://github.com/pfn/keepassj
How can a 4 digit PIN possibly be safe!?
The security is implemented by using a 2-part encryption key for your master passphrase. Your PIN is only one part of the key. The other part of the key is uploaded into app-private data in your Google Drive account. Information stored on your phone cannot be accessed without the key from Google Drive and vice versa. (Also a first, no other app does this to enhance your security).
Can I create databases using KeepShare?
Not yet, for now, you will need to create it from any other app that allows database creation.
What if I don't like it?!
Queue up the 1* reviews!
Trivia
I'm also the developer of keepasshttp, chromeipass and passifox, trusted by over 100k users. Although it's been mostly sidelined and I haven't actively developed it in forever. Any volunteers?
I would like to invite XDA community to test our latest SDK/Framework for free.
Our framework offers an end to end, easy to implement encryption - there are 3 main components to our product:
Vault - Simple, cross-platform, zero-knowledge key-value blob storage with indexed and queryable key-value metadata
Rendezvous - a meeting point that allows devices and applications to anonymously connect without any knowledge of each other.
Conversations - a cloud-based messaging system that allows devices and applications to communicate (optionally anonymously) with each other
To access the SDK simply sign up at Qredo website (sorry but I cannot post any outside links yet - new account)
Please make sure to share your feedback!
You can store all of your passwords easily and safely.
Important note: All the passwords enter are recorded in the data base after being coded with the most widely known 256 bit AES algorithm by a main password you are going to determine. Hence, nobody can access your data unless he knows this password, even the person who coded the application.

End of the password forgetting. You can store all of your passwords easily and safely in the high security database. PassMax Pro price is much cheaper than the other similar applications in the world. Uses modiftying 256-bit AES algorithm and cracking is almost impossible.
Properties:
No subscription or registration fee. There are two versions of PassMax. Demo version is totally free but there is advertising and you can add maximum 7 records in the demo version. You can have lifetime Pro version for a very cheap price.
High security master password you set the initial start of the application database is created just for you.
Your master password not only opens the application but also can be used to encrypt all data in your database with a powerful algorithm. That way even if your phone is reachable for the database, your entries absolutely can not be read.
There are some options for forgotten main password. These are; password reminder, security question and answer. also you can change your main password, security question and answer afterwards.
Decoding encrypted information is almost impossible.
You can store all kinds of confidential data in your secure manner. In private database created by PassMax; there are categories; website membership, credit cards, bank accounts. Also you can create your categories and you can store all kinds of confidential data in a secure manner.
In the other password / data category, you can create a completely free way to record yourself, you can specify the data header.
Adding records you, record date and update date is updated automatically assigned and stored in the database. Thus, you can notice it from someone else's intervention as soon as possible.
PassMax is designed to run automatically in the language of your device's language. Otherwise language selection is available only in English and Turkish at the moment.
PassMax dos not send any data to cloud against vulnerability.
PassMax which is running very fast with optimized algorithm implementation; the source code for any test with 7,600-line as having been presented for your use.
Use smart code structure for user’s faults minimization.
If the main password is entered incorrectly three times in a row, by the option once forgot my password section and security questions here comes in. If the user does not give the right security answer, application closes itself. A similar process is in the stage in password change section.
One-touch locking option instead of turning off when not used is available.
