[Q] Eagleblood 1.9 .. got 3 questions - T-Mobile LG G2x

Couple questions about the new eagleblood release, first custom rom i'm trying. Really fast perfomance, and more stable than a couple i messed with last night.
1.) When i press the lock button the screen distorts like an 80's tv turning off. Top and bottom of screen shrink to a white line in the center. Once the lock screen comes up it is fine, it just doesn't go black like it should when i press the lock button, gets pretty ugly for a second. This took place on all of the roms i tried. (CM7 nightly 2.4, eaglesblood, and xboarders), ever since i left stock.
2.) Is all there is to battery callibration let it die, then charge all the way? Is there any built in battery calibration app in there? Is there anything extra i need to ensure good battery life, like an battery app pack for the rom i am missing. (keep in mind i've tried apps like juicydefender, i'm talking at a bit higher level than that)
3.) I went into the terminal and typed "su fix_permissions". but then when i try to do "su adblocker off" says permission denied. or i try "sudo adblocker off" getting denied.
Thanks if you can help. I'm an refugee from the bygon era of iphone 3g, using tmobile hack and overall sucking at life (meh installous was cool). When i got my new G2X i vowed i wouldn't go back to using basement kids code and wasting my time. But alas the battery life the g2x sucks, so it needs external help. also the android community embraces the roms as common place so they get support, while iphone hacking was just that...crumy hacking. Props to the devs good work.

Can only help you with this one, kinda a noob:/ lol.
I couldn't help but laugh reading this first question i'm sorry lol. It is supposed to look like that, have you ever even seen an old tv (tube tv, ones before the flat screens) they shut off like this,
I like it personally.
Example,

G2X looks more legit tho

Ah i see its a "feature" not a bug, well that puts that one at ease. Thanks for the feedback.

Battery life on eb ver 1.09 has the best battery life that In have seen so far. I also use a extended battery. I have a 3500 mah it kicks ass and it was only 20 bucks. There are actually a whole lot of extended batterys for this phone now check ebay amazon doesnt have as good a selection.

[REQ] Possible port for NOLED

Hey guys, a friend of mine has this ap, NoLED for his galaxy and its friggin awesome, and I tried it on my incredible just to see if it worked (didnt see anything about phone support) but my phone started spazzing and rebooting.
wondering if anyone else can get it running or if a possible port might happen?
heres the guys home page
http://www.devasque.com/noled/index.php
This is an awesome idea. Would really like to see if this can b ported to the inc. Since the inc has a shabby led as is, turning the screen into a led notification would b a +1. Hopefully some of the devs can respond on this.
I would not agree. For several reasons. I had two of the GS phones, vibrant and epic. The vibrant has no led so they created that app.
For one... it caused several problems. And didn't help the meager battery life. Although development perhaps continued along after I uninstalled.
Two... even on AMOLED it uses alot of battery to constantly keep that light on. Okay well on AMOLEDs, black pixels use no power. Each pixel is self powered. so theoretically only that tiny led dot is using power. I just remembered the Dinc's use AMOLEDS, so that is not necc an issue, except for the SLCDs which are backlit. In any case ask Nexus owners how much battery one led can use.
Overall, I changed my mind... it's xda, the theory here tends to be if you can do it, you should. So hey go for it. Just remember my review. It's useful to a point although I always wished you could swap the red led for pictures or whatever else you want, but it does drain your battery and can be confusing in use.
i use it all the time without issues, but it kills battery life. 100% wake time blows.
I have been using it for a while as well, works great but battery life sucks.

Laggggggggggggggggggggg.

Is this the laggiest phone anyone has ever seen? Mine gets on my nerves more often then not. I am about to throw it up against a wall. Mainly when I am checking something out and hit the home button. It takes like 10 secs to get back to the home screen. Or when I swipe from side to side. It is so annoying.
Battery life completely sucks. I need to carry around a car battery with me to be able to keep this thing going.
Power button: Coming from a Droid X this power button is the worst ever. I power my phone down everytime I hold on to the phone. Ugh.
Love the phone otherwise.
Anyone have a non-root lag fix or power button removal tool.

On the power button - I came from a droid x too and there is no way that its that hard to hold this phone.
on the battery life - if you are running low that fast, learn to manage the stuff doing the power drain.
on the lag - did you update to ee4? it lags a little bit, but 10 secs is exaggeration unless you are running a bunch of crap at the same time.

Seriously 10 seconds is not over exaggerating. I am serious. I have the basics on my phone. I dont run a bunch of stuff. I actually downloaded JuiceDefender (and paid for it) for my phone and literally I will charge my phone and it will be down to 50% within 2 hours if I leave 4g on. I normally turn it off manually because it drains so fast. When I look at the battery usage monitor within the phone it says my screen is using 69% of my battery. WTF I barely look at the thing and I have it set on like 10% screen brightness.
I am not saying its hard to hold the phone with the power button. It is easy to hit the damn thing in my pocket or while holding and it reboots my phone every time. Like 3 times per day my phone gets rebooted.
And yes I upgraded to ee4 which was suppose to improve the phone. Not any improvement here. Maybe I just need to take it back and get a wonderfully refurbished pile of ****. Pay $300 for a phone and get a refurbished one 3 weeks later. Yeah!

I would rather get my old Motorola Brick Phone back.
It sounds like you may have a defective phone, 10 secs is ridiculous. Def return that shiite
edit: btw, Amazon has phones generally for 50-100 bucks cheaper than the stores, I got my charge for 199 no tax
dude, your phone is jacked, if your battery is that bad AND its that laggy something is eating up all your processing power and RAM and at the same time is killing your battery. If you cant find the problem, return it. Im completly stock and have almost no lag on anything.......
Your phone sounds defective. I never had home screen redraws like that even when stock.
I agree, you definitely have something wrong with your phone. One thing, though - get rid of juice defender. It really screws up a 4G/3G phone like this by messing with your data connections. That might be part of your problem - every time juice defender disables your data because it thinks you don't need it, then something requests it, it has to do a lot of resyncing to get connected up again.
Are you running stock? Have you tried a different launcher? Also, have you looked to see what is draining your battery? Some people have found a rogue app, such as the calendar, constantly running and draining.

(1) Replace your launcher with ADWLauncher EX (not the free version). Lots more functionality (and fun) than TouchWiz, and absolutely no lag when zipping around screens. The free version of ADW is not as fast as the paid (but, still cheap) EX version.
(2) One big battery-sucking problem I found was that I was using K-9 Mail for my primary email program. I had K-9 polling email requests every 15 minutes or so for my email accounts. Instead, I now use the TouchWiz email program for my non-GMail accounts. I selected the "Use Verizon's email server" and have Verizon push the emails out. It's pretty good, and has a *lot* less battery drain. (Verizon's email server seems to poll your email accounts approximately every 10 minutes. If you need it faster than that, oh well - your battery will suffer). I still have Google doing the GMail pushing, and it is nearly as fast as texting.
(3) Out of curiousity, what is your Quadrant score? It may indicate if you have problems.
I find that I can make it through the day without charging, as long as I'm not doing a ton of stuff on the phone.
Cheers,

I use the native email app for my Gmail, Yahoo and Exchange. I do use GO Launcher EX, which is the best one I have found. That isnt the problem though even the stock launcher is laggy. I have a new phone being shipped to me tomorrow. Maybe it was just the phone. I didnt use Juice Defender until I couldnt take my battery getting robbed of all of its juice in a couple hours.

OK - First, judging from your Quadrant Score, you aren't rooted yet (or, running Voodoo on it). Voodoo replaces the stock SamChg RFS (Reiser File System?) with the more efficient ext3 file system. If the Quadrant scores can be believed (there's debate on this), my SamChg runs about 50% better, since I am getting a score of 1483.
Next - I tried GO Launcher EX, and while it isn't as fast as ADWLauncher EX, it's decent enough. Not enough to cause a 10 second delay, anyways.
So - Does the screen do a redraw almost every time you go back to your home page? If so, you are chomping up all your RAM somewhere. You could have an app that's a bad actor. You may also be doing a LOT of browsing.
How about widgets? Do you have many of those on your desktop? If so, they will suck up CPU/battery, even when you don't have your desktop displayed.
Are you using Live Wallpaper? Again, this will suck CPU/battery, even when you don't have your desktop displayed.
With using the TW Email app, did you set up all the accounts to have Verizon push messages automatically?
Cheers,
Yes it redraws almost every time. I have one widget total on all 9 home screens. Not many Apps either maybe 5 per home screen. I called Verizon and they are sending me a new one. I will report back with that one.

[Q] Another G2x noob, is my phone going to be a lemon?

I'm kinda hesitant to post this, because I know you guys go through great lengths to emphasize searching first. I watched the video when I registered, nice touch. More forums could use vids like that!
oh well, here we go:
I have owned an Iphone every since they where introduced to the market. I have been wanting to make a switch for a while now. I was very close to purchasing a G2x back in April when they came out, but I held off. Well recently, a coworker let me check out his HTC G2 and I was amazed at the functionality, features, and other misc items compared to my old Iphone 3GS. I was never a fan of the slide out keyboard, so I knew the G2 was not for me.
Last week, I just missed the free promo on T-MO's web site, so Instead I purchased a G2X locally. I was totally unaware of all the problems you guys where having, as the typical review sites never mention these issues.
I have owned the phone for 8 days, So far here is whats been a going on:
7-29-11 Purchased the phone from Best Buy, decided to buy from them since they where the cheapest out the door with out rebate. I hate rebates! lol
Right before I am going to bed, I plug in to charge, and the phone shuts off, I cannot get it to power back up. I did not know about pulling the battery, I thought it had just died. I was going to wake up the next morning and take it back.
7-30-11 When I woke up, I looked around online, and found out about removing the battery and putting it back in. Now phone is working again.
I was able to get the OTA update to 2.3.3, right after the update, I did a master reset.
8-2-11 I downloaded a "radio scanner" app, and the first time I executed it, the phone froze, requiring another battery pull. Afterwards, the app ran fine.
Those are the only 2 major issues I have had.
Here are a few other things I noticed:
Screen: No separation, very slight light blur around top corners with lit black screen. Does not bother me, and I can't really notice it 99% of the time.
GPS: I know some have been having issues with this, for me, The time to get an accurate fix can sometimes take anywhere from 5-30 seconds. Even with the stock toggle always turned on, I do not always have the GPS Icon in the top bar, I don't know if I am supposed to. Can someone please confirm this?
WI FI: Seems to be working like intended, no complaints there.
BT: I have nothing to pair with the phone, so I will probably never know.
Making calls: this is kinda annoying, I will look through my call log and select a person, I see the dialer initiating so I put the phone to my ear, but a few seconds go by and nothing.... I look at the phone and find myself looking at the call log again, like the dialer crashed? Also, during the conversation the screen will turn off. I think this is normal, but when the phone detects motion shouldn't the screen turn back on?
Other than that, I love this phone so far. However, I do not want to swap handset after handset, refurb after refurb with T-MO or LG.
Is it possible that the phone will NOT continue to get worse as time goes on? Or should I take the first shut down as a sign of whats to come in the future? I have a 6 days left to take this thing back, but I am having a major conflict with myself about keeping it. What makes it even harder, Is I have already ordered a 32g micro SD, Trident case, and 3 extra data cables.
My plans are to root it, and run some sort of rom with it once I read up and half ass know what I am doing.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TLDR:
Have owned phone for a week. Shut down instantly the first time I charged it requiring a battery pull. Froze/crashed due to an app maybe Second battery pull.
Question a few functions but otherwise works like a champ.
Purchased case, micro sd, extra data cables.
thinking of taking it back and cancelling contract to avoid future headaches, but not sure if I should or want to at this point. need avdice please!
Doesn't sound like a lemon. The stock software is buggy. If you're gonna root it and flash another rom then you're gonna love this phone.
The GPS indicator is normal. It only shows when an app is using GPS for your location. Otherwise it doesn't show.
G2X CM7
It doesn't sound like a lemon to me either. I bought mine in April and my phone had a few reboots while charging overnight and two freezes in the first month. It has been OK since then, although I did not do anything about it (and I'm still on Froyo). The only thing I do is that I reboot my phone manually once in 7-10 days because the phone starts to lag. I believe this is normal for all smartphones including iPhone...or am I wrong?
Oh, forgot to mention when I hit the power button to wake the phone and go to the lock screen, I briefly see the last screen I was in before the phone went into sleep mode. Total lack of QA in my opinion... Will a rom fix this?
And yes Man of La Mancha, the iphone would get somewhat glitchy, but a reboot always took care of it. I didn't really have to reboot it too often, maybe once every 2 weeks or so.

The lockscreen issue is a known bug. CM7, or any ROM with 2.3.4+ doesn't have that problem.

[Q] G2X screen not visible

Afternoon all. I know the title might seem like a BSOD post but my situation is different. I've searched but can't come up with anything.
When I turn my phone on, it completes the boot but the screen never appears. How do I know it's on? Three things, the ROM I'm using, Eagle'sBlood I think, has an engine revving theme instead of standard Android chime. Second, the menu, home, back space and search buttons on the G2X body illuminate. Lastly, if I swipe in the area where I think the unlock icon should be, the phone unlocks. If I hold down the power button and wait for the shutdown notice, I can guess the 'Do You want to shut down' and 'confirm shut down' icons and the phone turns off.
I've tried removing the battery, SD card, sim card and rebooting in each variation but with no luck. The phone has been rooted for over a year and so I tried booting into CWM (powerbutton, down volume). I think I'm getting into CWM fully but without the ability to see the screen I can't navigate.
This started happening yesterday. I was listen to Pandora and using a GPS app to track my run. The battery died during. I plugged it in for several hours but haven't seen the screen display since.
Any suggestions? If this is a hardware issue I'll get a new phone but without being able to see the screen, I'm not sure how to diagnose the problem. Other than rooting and changing the ROM, the phone is stock. The issue I had before this is the battery icon doesn't display. It just shows a battery outline with a ?-mark inside. The battery level only shows when the phone is charging and powered off.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Really sounds like a dead lcd or maybe just the backlights. I don't really know how the backlight works on this phone but typically if there is video but no light you can put a flashlight onto the screen and barely make out the display around the flashlight. Either way it sounds like hardware.
Twitch - Thanks for the reply. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by backlights though. When the phone is on and the screen is not asleep I see lights around the edges but the screen itself is black. For my own knowledge is LCD and 'digitizer' synonymous? I saw another thread describing how to replace the digitizer for $60-75.
I'll try checking it with a flashlight when I get home.

I know there is an opinion thing but what is a good upgrade from the G2x for a non-hardcore user? I rooted and changed the ROM b/c you guys made it so easy to do, not b/c I was looking for the phone to do more than it already does. Up until this, and the battery display issue, and a wifi issue I forgot to mention, I've been happy with the G2x but there is no reason to spend $100+ repairing a 2+ year old phone that I pickup used off CList in Q1, 2012 if I can find something better on the used market for $200

Yeah I'm not too sure how these phones are set up, I have more experience with lcd monitors and such. But I think it is all in one piece on phones.
If you're looking to upgrade pretty much anything that came after the g2x likely has a lot more to offer in development. Good thing about this phone is everything is an upgrade. I have a samsung galaxy s 4g that's nearly 3 years old and single core but it runs 4.3 like a boss! Aside from GPS...
Flashlight didn't show any screen images. I think the next step is just trying to guess my way into debug mode and connect via uSB to my laptop and retrieve data before dumping the phone or trying to replace the lcd/digitizer. I saw an app mentioned in another post that should allow me to mirror my phones screen on a laptop. We'll see.

Thanks again. Anyone else had this issue?
last chance
Last chance in case anyone has any great ideas. I'll be ordering a new LCD and digitizer (probably don't need both) but would prefer not to spend the coin if that isn't my problem. all suggestions welcome
Hmmm, this an odd and aggravating problem you have here lol. I've ran two versions of eaglesblood, their CM7 version on 2.3.4 and their ICS AOSP version on 4.0.4 and have never heard an engine revving in any boot animation so I'm not sure what rom you're running either. Have you tried the hard reboot? While the phone is on at the home screen (if you think you're there I guess) hold the power button and the volumeUP button and the phone will reboot. I've read on here from a more experienced user before that doing this clears or does something to the caches that makes for a more complete reboot or "reset" of the phone's condition. Try that and see what happens. The only other option I would try to take is to flash a new rom and before doing so doing a COMPLETE wipe (to include format /system) and full instillation of a new rom, gapps and kernel. Can you see any images if you boot into CWM when shining a light on the phone's screen?
Maybe I'm wrong about the ROM. The flash screen shows the android graphic in electric blue and a comet type animation zooms around. During the zooming, the sound is an engine revving. I was using the ROM for 2-3 months before this issue popped up so I doubt it is the cause just wanted to give those more knowledgeable than myself as much info as possible

That's my real problem, I can' t see anything! With the phone on, when I hit the power button and unlock the screen (guessing), the only illumination is the menu, home, back space and search buttons on the G2X body. I can tell from the haptic feedback once the phone is unlocked and I can occasionally guess the proper location to shutdown.
I tried the hard restart (Power, Up) but same result. I've downloaded an app called MobileGo for the computer that displays the phone screen but I can't get USB debugging turned on.
I have noticed another odd issue. With the phone turned on and the SIM card installed, when I call myself from a LAN line it goes straight to vmail. I know the SIM is good b/c I've been using an old nokia candy bar phone with the same SIM while troubleshooting. When re-inserting a SIM card, is there anything the user needs to do for the phone to recognize the SIM? Just wondering if this 'direct to vmail' is another sign of ............something.
Thanks
Sometimes when I take out the sim card my apn gets messed up. Ideally you'd just go into settings and load default apn and it'll work again.
But calling should work.
Seems like a busted screen from everything being described here.
Try connecting to a tv using hdmi... maybe the ROM would allow it to display. Worth a shot.

It's alive!!
My phone is alive, or at least it was.
I followed the directions on the youtube video I found to take the G2X apart and the first thing I noticed was the corrosion on LCD connector. I'd already purchased the LCD so instead of cleaning the old we just replaced it. The new screen worked, unfortunately I couldn't get a signal so we took it apart again to clean off corrosion on all the connectors. I'll let it sit for a few days to make sure everything is dry.
Don't be a fool like me, if you're going to do anything with your phone that might cause it to get wet, especially sweat, put it in a baggie or something. I'll post a follow-up if the thorough cleaning does any good.
I'm pulling for ya man, best of luck!
It works!!

For anyone else that runs across this thread, unless the digitizer or LCD is physically damaged I'd disassemble the phone and check for corrosion before buying new parts. I used the new LCD but that b/c I'm not going through the trouble of returning a $16 item.
Wi-fi still doesn't seem to be working, which is odd. Wi-fi stopped working two months ago, it doesn't even show available networks, but worked for a few minutes when I originally replaced the LCD last weekend. Both antennae are connected but oh well. if I had to choose network vs wi-fi connectivity, I'll take network!
Thanks again for all the help

Nexus n00b, don't know what I'm doing wrong..

I just got a Nexus 5 for cheap, advertised on eBay as "Battery Drain Issue", I looked into it, found a few fixes, figured for the price, I could get my money back in parts so I bought it. Now that I have it and have used it for a week it quickly became my daily and I want to keep it so now some of the "bugs" are problems.
Battery Drain Issue
Obviously, there's a battery drain issue, first off, when I got it, booted it, it had a little unlocked lock under Google on boot, so I know it was tampered with, next that gave it away was it had Android 5.0.1 on it, downloaded root checker, no root, but some how SuperSU was installed as a system app that I can't delete. After some reading on here I found out this is a result of Rooted 4.4.4, and then an OTA update of 5.0 or 5.0.1 breaking root but not getting rid of system installed apps from when root was flashed. So this means even a factory reset from Settings or a wipe in recovery isn't going to get rid of SuperSU because it's embedded in the firmware itself so it'll be reflashed with it, only method is a full wipe and stock install with new firmware from Google.
So, I downloaded the 5.0.1 update from the Googles, rebooted into bootloader, plugged in USB, came up as Android with a yellow triangle on it in device manager, installed a driver I found online (not the google one from Android SDK because it didn't do anything), reads as ADB device now, ADB works, clicked the flash-all.bat, everything is going good, and then can't find system.img, did more looking into it, found a great thread somewhere on here on exactly how to make Windows 8.1 play nice with it's new friend Nexus 5, extracted the files from the zip that was in the zip from Google. Made a new batch file telling it to install the .img separate and do a full wipe and wipe cache after and reboot the phone on it's own, after it rebooted, it was at the setup screen, I rebooted back to bootloader, my batch file finished it's script by locking the bootloader and rebooting for me again, I set it up, charged it all night, next day at work I got 7 hours, had to plug it in before I left work, once it was charged after work, brightness was on full now that I'm outside and I got 4 hours.
I found a BUNCH of tips on battery life so I disabled Bluetooth, disabled GPS, disabled scanning for WiFi, bought GSAM Pro. Android System and Screen are using almost all the battery, using GSAM I found out that Android System and WiFi are actually using it all, Screen is a close third, but for some reason Android's Battery Usage under settings is hiding WiFi battery usage from me, not sure why, maybe they know of this issue and they don't want to address it yet? Android 5.1 fix perhaps?
Anyway, I've been dealing with the quick drain battery issue by getting a portable battery pack, I get almost 3 charges out of it on the go if I turn the phone off while it's charging.
Bluetooth Issue
Now the next issue is Bluetooth, I tried on 3 vehicles, all of them don't work with this phone, they work with the Note 3 (sometimes) and Xperia's (everytime), but not this one which sucks because I like this one the best and want to take it with me all the time. I get nothing, it won't even connect, I even tried doing another full wipe to Android 5.0.1, and clearing all Bluetooth devices from my headunit so only the Nexus 5 was the option it was trying to connect to.
It finds the device, says Nexus 5 and then a randomly generated number, same number appears on the phone so I tell it it's correct, tell headunit it's correct, tries to connect, phone asks if this is a trusted device, I add it to trusted devices list, wait about a minute, and then it fails, every.. single.. time.. I even tried leaving the trusted device thing to see if it connects first and it fails, and if a decline trusted device, it fails instantly. So I know the trusted device aspect is working, it just won't pair.
Aesthetics Issue
The 3rd and 4th "issues" aren't really problems, it's more like coping with OCD because I want a round battery icon with the percent in the middle on the statusbar, and the only way I know how is root, xposed, and gravitybox. The only issue with this is with the bootloader unlocked, I get to see a gross unlock icon on boot every morning which ruins the nice minimalistic look and that's one of the reasons I absolutely love this phone. If I could find a way to unlock bootloader but hide that unlock icon on boot I would be set. But I haven't found a way to do this yet. So for now, this is something that bothers me about the device is I can't make it look pretty, without making it look ugly, kind of a catch 22..
Now I just copied over my batch file to have the correct file names for 4.4.4 which I just downloaded from Google and I'm going to revert back to that, disable the update notification telling me I need the lollipops, and use that for tomorrow to see if any of this improves, but, keeping in mind, I would prefer to be on Android 5.0.1, the eye candy is very appealing to me for using this over the Xperia Z
I'm mostly just going back to 4.4.4 to see if Bluetooth works and if battery life improves so I can narrow it down between either device issues or firmware issues.
I know it's a lot to read, but I didn't want to make 3 separate threads
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm new to Nexus and really don't have a clue what I'm doing lol
I'd say it's worth opening the phone to see if the hardware has been tampered with. If I'm not mistaken, the battery cover has a bluetooth sticker sensor on it near the rear camera hole next to the flash.
Also, the battery may have been abused by leaving the phone charging after reaching full capacity. I know there have been articles/forums that insist it wouldn't degrade the battery but it sure killed the battery on my Logitech G930 headset. I try my best to take care of my battery powered devices and i see a noticeable difference.

There's an easy solution for this.
step 1: power on your phone.
step 2: put it down. Look away. take a sip of coffee. or anything. just don't look at the phone during initial boot up.
step 3: use your phone the way you want to use it.
or, if the unlock icon bothers you that much, and you just. can't. look. away. during boot, there are plenty of apps that will put a little circle with battery percent inside in the notification area. Without needing root or XPOSED, or anything. Power Toggles is one of those apps. I'm sure that there are many more as well.

When I got the phone, it was "worked on" and the previous owner said the battery was replaced and the rear cover was broken during removal so a white one was supplied, I looked at the white one and the bluetooth/wifi antenna sticker is right beside the camera/flash but wifi works perfect, so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I flashed 4.4.4 last night and charged to 100%, it still seems to be draining fast, 5% in about 30 minutes so maybe the battery was replaced with a knock off? How do I tell if it's not official? Is there a larger capacity battery upgrade that'll fit in the stock housing/backing?

I spit out my coffee everywhere lmao! I guess it's not a huge deal if it's there, and if it's scaled out, the majority of the time is spent looking at the icon I don't like rather then the momentary one I would prefer not to have.
I just like my phone to "perfect"

Power Toggles didn't work, it does put a round icon with percent, but it will only display on the left side in notifications rather then on the right with the system icons.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
I'm going to try Bluetooth to see if it works on 4.4.4, if not then there's some hardware issue that had nothing to do with firmware so if that's the case then I'll rip it apart tonight and reflow the logicboard, check for any signs of water damage and toss it back together.
This device also has a lot of LED bleed on the bottom of the display but if I push on the bottom frame of the glass, it goes away, so I'm thinking the phone was completely rebuild with cheap or spare parts.. Which would explain why it was so cheap.
Either way, I'll report back in a few hours if bluetooth works or not, I'm kind of hoping it doesn't because then it'll really narrow it down to a hardware issue.
Thanks for the help so far.

Yeah, I can tell its a cheap phone, oh well, its still my personal favorite out of the other ones I've owned.
After more testing with 4.4.4, I got 10 hours of battery life with GPS and Bluetooth on, charged again, and then 12 hours of battery life with GPS and Bluetooth off.
So, its better, but I'm still went back to 5.0.1 this morning.
Bluetooth on the headunit lastnight did the exact same thing, tries to connect, waits a bit, says failed.
I did notice another weird issue with charging it this morning, phone was plugged from 3am when I went to bed till 8am when I got up for work and turned it on, that's a decent 5 hour charge and normally it only takes about a hour to charge. The battery icon displayed full with the lightning bolt meaning charged, turned the phone on, still plugged in, shows 70% and says charged, figured it needed a minute to recalibrate the battery so I restarted, still said 70% but it said it's charging now, left it while I made coffee, came back about 30 minutes later before heading out, still said 70% and says charging. I got to work and the battery was down to 9% so I figured it needs to recalibrate so I'll let it run dead till 0%, full charge to 100%, run down to 0%, and then after its charged to 100% again use the phone as normal, nope, it got to 0% before I got in the building, its "charged to 100%" so I turned it on, 68%..
Kinda thinking I'm going buy another battery, one I know is brand new (not what the previous owner said is new) and a new backcover to see if that fixes Bluetooth.
How's the motherboard?
If you unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery, you can flash one of these bootloader images that change how it looks. All this does is re-skin the bootloader. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2950482
As for the circle battery icon, AICP has that option along with a lot of other options. It may even fix your Bluetooth connectivity issues with your cars (can't confirm). In the screenshot you can see the battery icon.

This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks! I'm doing this as soon as I get home from work, and then root with no unlock icon, and then GravityBox LP for round battery!
As for the Bluetooth issue, I'm going to reflow the logic board, see how that goes, inspect the battery while I'm in there, maybe find an app that allows me to view battery cycle count.
Ripped the phone apart when I got home, reflowed the logic board, put it back together, tested Bluetooth, connected instantly, no hesitation.
So that's fixed, just gotta figure out a new battery, I found three replacements.
OEM LG 2300mah
X-Longer 2300mah
KBTEL 3830mah
Anyone use these or know which is best? I kinda want to try that KBTEL battery but I can't find any good info on it. I also can't find anything reiweing the LG vs X-Longer batteries either.
I just gotta figure out how to check the cycle count of this battery and if its old then I'll replace it.

Glad to see you got it fixed! As the circle battery icon, I find it easier to just flash a custom ROM because xposed is kinda buggy still and a ROM like AICP has a lot of really nice features that xposed can give and a lot it doesn't have.

I've noticed its buggy, it took me a few attempts just to Install, Gravitybox crashed and got the phone stuck in a bootloop, I just cleaned the cache and it started fine, haven't had any issues since it worked but the process of getting it working was something in its own.
I'll give AICP ROM a try when I get home from work, maybe it'll help with the battery issue.
I narrowed down the battery issue to WiFi. I charged to 100% yesterday, unplugged just before 1am, left everything off, battery was at 94% by 8am so it only had a 6% drain. Drove to work, had Bluetooth on and streaming google music, its all good, not a huge loss at all, actually going really well. I think I was around 85% around 11am when I realized I forgot WiFi off, turned it on, phone died just before 2pm,
So with everything off and idle, 6% battery loss over 7 hours, with wifi off it was a 9% battery loss over 3 hours, then I turned WiFi on and it was an 85% battery drain over 3 hours.
Now that that's solved, I dont think I need a new battery, I gotta find a fix for this insane WiFi battery drain.
I flashed AICP 8.0 Release yesterday along with the latest GAPPS from Paranoid Android, I used the modular GAPPS because I prefer Gallery over the "Photos" alternative from Google. Anywho, I ran into a huge issue, Chrome won't search for anything without thinking I'm a robot if I'm on Data, if I switch to WiFi it works fine. The battery life I can't really say, but I think it has something disabled or modified with WiFi because from 10pm when it got to 100%, I had it unplugged and idle till about 2am checking it once an hour and it was 99% by 2am when I went to bed. By 8am it was 98%, so there was only a 2% battery loss over night and I left WiFi and Bluetooth on, but as soon as I started using the phone, it's not even 9am yet so it hasn't even had an hour use and it's down to 82% so again there's some huge WiFi drain, but at least with AICP there's no drain at idle so I can leave it on over night if absolutely necessary.
Only other issue with this ROM is every time I boot the phone, it tells me there are 6 updates but they're all Nightly updates, I was thinking of disabling the notification but then I won't be notified if there's an official release. I do like this ROM, but the chrome issue is huge for me and AICP doesn't have their own GAPPS to use so I went with the most reliable and well known PA GAPPS but I can't search for anything when I'm not around WiFi.
I'm going to flash back to stock 5.0.1 right meow mainly because of that Chrome + Data thing being a bigger issue then battery drain because I can at least use my phone over Data and save some battery when browsing and connect WiFi for streaming videos or downloading apps but with this bug not letting me use Chrome unless I have WiFi it's going to kill my phone battery in a few hours, so I'd rather have the battery loss over WiFi on stock then require WiFi and battery drain all day.
Thanks for the ROM suggestion, it's pretty good, I like the direction of it but it's not as stable as I would like, I'm going to test it on the Xperia Z though because I do really like it, I just need to use it on a secondary phone.
Chrome issue is fixed, I used ES File Manager to remove Chrome from the System App, rebooted to recovery, wiped cashe, rebooted, installed Chrome from PlayStore, everything works fine. So its a PA GAPPS issue, not AICP. Just felt like clarifing that.
