I am trying to fix a friends broken sensation.. and I cant seem to find a way to turn on the phone without the power button. Is it possible on the sensation?
I don't know of a way. How is it broken? Take off the cover, and where the power button should be you will see a raised piece of plastic, very small, and only a little bit raised, but that's the power button. Press it, might take some time to find it
the button is completely broken.. nobody knows any other way to turn on the phone?
If you plug your phone into your computer, you can use adb to reboot your phone. If you dont know how to get\use adb or what it is read this. Follow all the steps and after step 4 simply type "adb reboot" (without quotation marks) and it should start.
i have adb working.. but my computer wont reconize the phone plugged in!
Is the button visibly broken or it just wont work? Did your friend have a custom rom and kernal? Some kernels have the problem where if you drain the battery, the phone wont charge on its own and you will either need another battery or another sensation to charge it.
The button doesn't push down, click, or function. She had it brand new, for about two days. I don't believe it's software related.. and if it is I can't even turn on the phone to change anything
Do you have the HTC adb drives installed, the sensation has specific drivers needed to run, but if your friend has only had it a few days, then get a warranty replacement because it is an obvious hw fault.
yes i have the drivers, will my computer recognize the phone even though its off? the LED light is on. and the warranty became void after she got drunk and fell in a fountain. I managed to get the phone on, and everything was working, i just wanted it to dry out some more, and then when i went back, the power button didn't work. Im sure its just the power button though, and not just the water damage, because she fell in the fountain two months ago, and im just fixing it now.
Water damage will corrode the circutry even after its been dried out,and yes it should recognize the phone even when off, my does and adb reboot worked fine. Does your pc make the hardware connected noise and does "adb devices" not find anything? It seems that maybe you will need to pay HTC to fix you phone out of warranty.

i have a nexus s 4 g from sprint. it is hard bricked. i tried to root it and change recovery.then it shut off and wont power on, light up at all. Take out the battery for a few seconds and put it back; then while holding Volume UP (+) press the Power Button.

Nothing. Happens it don't light up or power on at all. It is not reconized on computer either. It's hard bricked.
Make sure the Battery is charging...
How can I make sure the battery is charging when no lights come on at all? All I do know is I had it plugged in for a while yesterday and it got really warm. But no lights whatsoever. The screen doesn't light up at all neither does the led.

There are no notification lights on the D720, but when you plug it in with a charger, you should see a battery bar on the display.
Other than that, you are probably right about hard-brick.
I, luckily, never had a "brick" on the Nexus S, so someone else with experience may wanna chime in. But Google and YouTube are your friends.

been awhile since any action here. saved mine with JIG method once but this time it won't work ??!(why) , in search of a solution again! -> hardbrick #2 on this device!
You guys can try a USB Jig. If that does not help, I think JTAG is what you need.
Jesus... just to revive this thread (and this concept of hard bricking), I think I just accidentally bricked mine as well.
Here's exactly what I did:
One moment, it was working spectacularly - fully stock, but unlocked. I had just listed it on eBay, too.
So I ran a factory reset on it (from the Settings menu), also "erase USB storage".
Then, after it shut down for the reboot, I pulled the battery.
...
That was it. Now it doesn't turn on for anything whatsoever. No device detected on USB when plugged into PC. Remove, replace battery, hold VolUp+Power, nothing. Plug into power adapter, nothing. Nothing at all.
But the back does get lukewarm after a minute or so, as if it's alive in the head but frozen, unable to start the bootloader.
WTF? I also have 2 more of these Nexus S 4G's, and both of them seem to have Flash storage chips that exhibit the same behavior when their chips are placed in (this) working motherboard. They can't boot. When I try to "hot-flash" it by booting the bootloader then swapping the Flash chips, they can't flash anything (this is probably to be expected). So, if I can get my ONCE-WORKING phone back to life, there's a good chance I can get another working as well (one just has a cracked glass, otherwise working mainboard & peripherals).
It's old, yes, but it's a damn shame to E-waste these things for a stupid software problem like this!
I have bricked my phone while flashing RUU. My phone didn't restart after flash. It doesn't charge and also doesn't respond to long press key combination.
Now when I connect to computer the driver doesn't get installed. Error is "QHUSB_Dload missing".
I found that it is a Qualcomm driver used to identify the CPU serial number and establish any communication with my phone.
How do I unbrick ?
Do I need the JTAG method ?
Can a HTC service center fix this ?
Hi, sounds like a problem i encountered
after hours of digging and end up with not much..i put up a trick that actually worked for me(over and over again for me,cos my H0s keep entering qhsusb_dload mode each time i restart my phone.
u have to take apart your phone, get a torx T5 and a philips screwdriver(search or see at youtube how to take apart your phone.
just take apart the back cover to reveal the mainboard
-disconnect the battery
-connect the phone to charger(charger,not pc/usb)
-keep an eye on the notification led, it will light up(orange) for a couple of seconds after u connect it to charger,then went off
-after the notification led went off, reconnect the battery and pull off the charger from phone.
-(dont reassembly the phone yet)press the power button a few times to see if it will boot, or you can hold the power button for a 10 second.
-in my case,at this point the phone should be booting,but to a bootloop.
-i suggest you enter the recovery when it boots up and do a full wipe.
Try it,do tell me the result please, i hope it will help and do it safely, carefully because anything that happens, i ain't gonna be your warranty desk

I guess this method assumes that the battery has some charge left. Mine doesn't. I tried no result :crying:
I dont think it matters..when you are flashing the ruu how much juice you got left? if u start flashing when the battery is around 100% im sure there should be enough charge to at least turn the phone on..can you tell me more why it didnt work for you? what you went through?

Nothing happened when i connected to charger. No LEDs lighting up.
I think my battery might have drained completely.
was running a solid PA 5.0 Rom then My screen broke about a month ago so I broke out one of my cheap $30 Wal-Mart phones until I decided what to do with it. Finally decided to get a screen + digitizer kit, replaced it all no problem went to turn it on and had a red light blink for a few seconds and then nothing. . Tried all volume & power button combos but no dice. Been trying and googling for days now. I can plug my phone into a pc and get it into adb fastboot mode by holding vol- and power button sometimes it gets recognized a mtp usb device but wont install any drivers and if I hold all three buttons it shows up as qhusb_bulk but it still won't boot up normally tho and nothing displaying in the screen. bought it from swappa over a year ago so the warranty is probably up. any suggestions?

I had the same thing. Phone in a drawer and red light fluttered then that was that. I put a new battery in.
As you probably know when the battery dies there its in fact 10% left for boot up. In my case it had gone to zero so there was nothing to power the charging circuits etc. Worked for me. I found a way to charge the other later and it's a spare

alright did that now it gets recognized on my computer as normal and phone vibrates when i turn it on, guessing the screen i got was bad cuz that still doesn't work, I'll just send it back and get a new one. many Thanks!
So today i started having bootloops, it was showing the Powered by Android screen for 2 seconds then booting again over and over for few hours
Now after it somehow got fixed by itself, i managed to turn the phone ON and to clear Cache
So far there are not bootloops anymore
BUT
huge BUT
the phone is poping the Power Menu most of the time, and then every touch on the screen just "presses" on the Shut Down option
If i press on the Power button myself it shut him down automatically ...

Would like to add, that i never unlocked it, it's the regular OTA version.
I doubt a wipe wll help, but i really wont mind if thats the case
Its almost like something pressing the Power button sometimes, but even WITHOUT the back case it still pops that power menu. even if no one is touching it at all it still pops it once in a while, which cause shut downs once in a while ...
So i woke up
The phone is off, i cant turn it on
I charge it for few hours already and still nothing happens the power button doesnt do nothing, it doesnt vibrate
So i connect it to my PC, it shows it as a Marshal something in the device manager but it KEEPS disconnecting and reconnecting every 2 seconds
I have found a "fix ur bricked phone" threads but they all using a tool that needs the phone connected to the PC, well my phone cant stay connected more than 5 seconds for some reason [ different cables, different computers] it keeps on popping in and out
Did you drop your phone in the water or something? Wet or damp from the rain maybe?
And did you try connecting it while in fastboot or recovery mode?
Maybe wet from Humidity but thats all

This problem happen when the phone is getting wet ? its certainly didn't but maybe i should "fix" it as a wet phone should be fixed? should i open it and dry it out? maybe take the battery out? its not that easy to take it out tho
I had a phone which was wet from the rain, it made the power button faulty. It would randomly turn screen on off like in your case. I took it to the repair shop and they cleaned the insides and it was fine again. If you're sure it's not the rain or anything then maybe that's not the reason, just a guess.
How about plugging in the charger? Does it light up? If it lit up and you cant turn it on after maybe its the power button problem.

plugging the charger doesnt do nothing
Although i got a portable charger with a led , the led turns on when i plug the One, BUT, the led bar doesnt decrease even after few hours, so its like "trying" to charge but not charging anything
Try this from OnePlus Customer Support:
2. Power cycle the One by holding the Power button for 20 seconds 5 times.
3. Attempt to start the phone by holding down the Power button along with the Volume down button to start recovery mode and performing a factory reset.

or hold Power button with the Volumn up button to see if you can get into fastboot mode.

Hello, today I wanted to restart my device and it just doesn't want to turn on. I cannot access any mode, nothing shows up while charging. The phone was rooted. It was also water damaged in April (1 second in toilet), it didn't wanted to turn on either but somehow I managed to turn it back on and it was working well. When I plug it to PC i can see Exynos7420 for a second and it shows up every time I press power button. I hope it's not hard bricked or heavy damaged inside :/

Well it's defo a hardware failure of some sort, sounds like the main board might be done for. Water damage if not dealt with straight away can cause corrosion of components over time.
