[Q] Automatic openvpn connection when not in home lan - General Questions and Answers

Hi!
How can I establish an automatic openvpn connection when not in my home lan.
I am also using a Nokia N900. Here I can use a dbus call, which examines, if I am
in my home lan or not. If not, the openvpn connection is established automatically,
no matter, if it is in a foreign lan, or on 3G.
Is it possible to do so on Android?

[Q] [openvpn, cm7] Hotspot not functional when openvpn is connected

I'm using CM7 stable (7.0.3) with a Nexus One.
When I enable the hotspot feature without having the phone connected to my openvpn server, my laptop (connected to the hotspot) connects to the web fine. The phone's internet connection works fine as well.
But when I enable the feature while connected to the openvpn server, even though the internet works on the phone, my laptop connects to the hotspot but cannot send/receive any data. I can ping my phone from my laptop, but pings go unanswered for example to google.com or 8.8.8.8...
Does anyone have any idea what's going on here, how I can troubleshoot or how I can fix the problem?
PS. I'd like to have the phone connected to my openvpn server rather than my laptop while using the hotspot as the laptop's openvpn connection is unstable when using the phone's hotspot (I do't know why).
Thanks!
I think the problem is the Gateway used by the laptop to connect to the internet. When you activate the hotspot the laptop will use to connect to the internet as gateway the ip provided by 3G. When you activate the VPN the gateway is changed but the laptop can't tell that and it uses the wrong IP address.

[Q] Has anyone tunneled PPTP VPN connections over a SSH connection?

I'm using CM9 on my galaxy nexus.
I can connect to my PPTP VPN server (my router running tomato) fine without tunneling, both inside my lan, and outside it.
I can connect to my SSH server (again my router), both inside my lan and outside it. And have successfuly forwarded ports before w/ connect bot and remote desktop apps.
But everything I try results in my VPN connection timing out when I try to do it over the SSH tunnel. I have it connecting to localhost on the VPN settings side. And on the connect bot side i am forwarding port 1723 to 192.168.1.1:1723 (which is my routers lan IP).... but it still times out.
Does anyone have any ideas? is this even possible?

[Q] VPN and SMB shares

I recently set up OpenVPN on my router and connected with my phone using OpenVPN for Android. I could access my router settings and the uTorrent WebUI on my desktop, but I couldn't access my SMB shares. I have no issue with SMB when connected to my router via wifi, but I can't seem to get it to work over the VPN. The computer I'm trying to access shares from is running Windows 7, if that helps. Also, if there's an easier way to access shares remotely than what I'm trying please let me know.
I have only two ideas, how to start error search:
1. Try to connect to the VPN -Samba-shares using a Desktop PC
2. Do your Android-Device offer a native VPN-support (So does mine!) Maybe the App you're using to connect to the samba-share does not use the VPN-Tunnel, because OpenVPN does not provide it to other apps? I once had a similar issue, when i tried to connect to my home VPN-Network, while i was in another WLAN, where the IP-Adresses where the same as in my home-Network (192.168.1.1 was the router, 192.168.1.99 was the NAS) and i was routed to the NAS in the local network although the VPN-connection was enabled! I changed the IP of my NAS at home and the problem was gone. Don't know if this helps...

[Q] NAT and router in Android

Hi,
I want some software or command-line commands to make my Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 (android 2.3.6) temporarily as NAT router. But I dont want tethering or make phone as wifi router, but instead as wifi client. I want connect to internet through 3g and then route and NAT all incoming packets from wifi connection to 3g. So, my client computer is in LAN, in LAN I have wifi router, computer client connects to internet through: computer client --> LAN router --> phone wifi-client (phone wifi client makes connection to wifi router) --> phone NAT and routing --> phone 3G network connection --> internet.
Thanx.

[Q] connect nexus5 to SSh tunneling over WiFi

I have a PC with a WiFi adapter. I use SSH tunnelling on that PC. Now I want to share my Internet connection on that PC via the WiFi card to my other device,i.e., I want a way to send traffic via SSH tunnel to WiFi, for example, create a LAN connection over SSH and then share it through WiFi.
Internet => PC => SSH tunnel => WiFi => Nexus 5
Is it possible? If so, how?
