Font of email reciepent sees - HTC Inspire 4G

Emails that I send from my phone (using K9 Mail) show up in my recipients inbox with a Times New Roman Font.
Is there a way to change that to something else? I can’t figure out if that is a setting on my phone or something on the email recipients desktop email client. I would like my emails to have the same font whether they are sent from my computer or phone.

I would think it would show up as whatever the recipient has set as their default font. I'm probably wrong tho..
*insert sig here*

I thought that too, but I get times new Roman on Gmail and outlook. There must be a setting on my phone or on my email hosting server.

[Q] Sense 3.0 Email Questions

Now that people are getting their new phones I would like to know if Sense 3.0 has any improvements in the email application, specifically when using IMAP.
Firstly I would like to know if the email app now supports IMAP IDLE, which may be listed as Push.
Also I would like to know if you can have multiple "From" addresses per mailbox so that I can choose who to reply as.
Lastly I would like to know if you can have an auto BCC for each mailbox.
Thanks.
I guess I asked too soon.
Bumping.

Just a quick reply to this
1) I have my google mail set up in htc mail as an IMAP there is no option to set the update schedule for push mail. I cannot see any other option to set it up for IMAP Idle so I assume it does not work with HTC mail.
2) I have both an exchange activesync mailbox and a google email mailbox set up in htc mail. When you compose an email there is an option on the top to select the from address you are sending to.
3) In the send and recieve settings for each mailbox there is an "always bcc me" option. I just tested it and it looks like it will only automatically bcc to the same account you are sending from. You do have the option of adding other accounts when you are composing an email.
Hope this helps.
one more thing abt the new Sense email app;
is multiple selection possible for ex. to 'mark as read' or 'delete' purposes?
(asking as a potential Sensation owner soon)

Thanks for this. It's a pity that HTC decided to add eye candy to Sense instead of working on useful features like IMAP IDLE.
I just need some clarification on (2). Does changing the From address change the account or can you have two accounts with multiple from addresses?
Thanks

I don't understand what you mean but from what I gather it changes the account you send from. Only one from account can be selected.
I don't know if it is new but the Sense 3 Mail program also supports multiple exchange accounts.
Extra exchange accounts must be added from within the HTC mail application.
Now I can use my personal and work exchange accounts on the phone at once. 1 up over my Touch Pro 2.

Ahh. OK. What I was talking about was using it with an account that is a catchall. account
Say I have owned domain custom-roms.com I could have any email that was sent to any address at custom-roms.com all come into one mailbox. So email sent to [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] would all come into the same mailbox which could have the default address of [email protected].
However when it came to replying, say I wanted to reply to an email sent to "kernel" but I didn't want to reply from the default address of "admin", with some mail clients, like K-9, I could choose to use one of the other "From" addresses even though they all belong to the same account.
Ok I see now, setting the from address to an alias set up to the account.
In that case no, from your example you will only be able to choose the [email protected] account. The from addresses you select from are derived from the mailboxes you set up in HTC mail. It is not a text box which you can edit but a list you select from.
The only way to do what you want is to set up an actual account for each of those emails, not aliases and then add each of them to HTC mail. not really what you were looking for though.
I have a question. On my G2 I was able to press a button at the top of each email to "Show Pictures" to display the embedded images and content. I can see it when I bring up my Google account emails, but not my normal POP3 email. As it is the only thing I can view in my emails are just words and links. Is there anyway to fix it so I can view images on there?
Thanks for the help!
exchange calendar sync
Hi,
I am using my phone with my company's exchange server. Since I bought it 1 week ago i never managed to sync my calendar. it tries for about 2 mins then it tells me socket timeout error.
i did a lot of search in the forums but none of the recommendations worked.
strangely my galaxy tab has no issues at all, working just fine.
Any help will be very appreciated.
Cheers

Push Mail

Hi
Is there anyway to speed the time the mail is sent to the phone from the time it is received by the service provider (that is like Hotmail or POP)
i have found it takes 30mins or more sometimes for the mail to reach my phone and it has been received by hotmail.
can anyone give me some advice on how to make this time shorter.
i am running RCMix3D Runny v3.3 on my inspire 4G
best regards

Most e-mail clients allow to adjust how often it queries the e-mail servers. It sounds like your client is using the default setting of 30 minutes or something. You'll have to go into the settings and adjust the "Check for e-mail every x minutes" setting.
If you want to receive Hotmail in realtime, you'll have to use the official Hotmail app in the Market.
X2 on the hotmail app, it works great. Also I found with the stock mail app when you delete messages it won't delete them off the server, the hotmail app does it instantly

How do you have hotmail setup? I have it setup as an exchange account in the default mail app and everything works instantly (receiving messages, deleting messages (which are also deleted from server), etc). I usually have it set to only sync every 15 minutes to save battery, but when set to push it works instantly.
server address: m.hotmail.com
username: full email address
Server requires SSL
This is what I have done and it is working great. Go to your email provider (Hotmail, POP3, whatever it may be) and set it to forward all your emails to your Gmail address (you do have a Gmail address, right?). Use the Gmail app on you phone and your emails will get pushed to you instantly. You can also set your Gmail account to use your other email address for replies and forwards, so it looks like it's coming from the original address and not Gmail.
Thanks for the excellent info people i really didnot know there was a hotmail app. but it was setup for every 30 minis. i have changed it to 5 mins cause thats the lowest i saw. i also want to find out about the the download messages which is set to 200. does this mean that the phone will only download 200 messages "per day"?
1 last final question which i am curious about. i have other folders created in my hotmail such as sent and drafts etc. usual folders is it possible to sync these folders with my phone inorder that my hotmail account will be in sync with my phone.
sometimes i use my computer to send out mails as well as my phone. but i cant sync the sent folder. please bear in mind i have not installed the hotmail app.
however i will try it as soon as i am finished sending this post.
thanks again people for your kind support.

You can try playing around with the settings in Gmail. I know they have fileters that you can set. I haven't tried it personally but I imagine you could set it to put the emails you forward from your other accounts into specific folders.
Try out K-9 off the Android Market
You'll never turn back. Fully customizable (potentially overwhelming).

Create a filter in Gmail for your hotmail account and add a label named "hotmail", then forward to your Gmail account. Check sync "hotmail" folder in Gmail app. settings

[Q] Looking for a good email client

I'd like to get a pop email client that will:
1. pull ALL of my email from a server the first time I use it (after that, of course, it just pulls the new stuff).
2. pull ALL the contents and attachments right away, not just the headers.
Is there anything out there? I have tried K9mail, but it's really hard to work with, and doesn't show an option to delete mail automatically after I download it. I've tried Maildroid, but it appears to only download the headers, and then I have to download the contents when I open the individual emails.
And the stock HTC email client doesn't do this?
I use the Gmail app and have set up my Comcast.net email to forward to my Gmail address (Comcast is POP3) since Gmail pushes email instantly to my phone. I have also set Gmail to use my Comcast address for sending mail, so it's actually going through Gmail but people receiving it see it as Comcast. Has worked great for me.
MailDroid best email app out there. Good Dev. Very flexible client.

What this guy said. GMail is probably your best option. I'm not sure if the others have push, but I love the push notifications.
Have a look at Enhanced Email.
K-9 Mail is pretty good. I found MailDroid the best for exchange server emails for my work emails.

Emailing on Android

HI,
Recently I've been using my email more often and one thing that's always bugged me/annoyed me is how emails dissapear from my inbox. Since Gingerbread-ICS-JB I know it's Android email. So when you're out and about you get emails on your phone but when you come home and check your email from your client (I used Windows Mail and an @cox.net address), the emails on your phone instantly dissapear. Sometimes I need a copy of this email! What to do...Gmail certainly doesn't do this...It syncs everything including folders(labels).
I don't know what you mean. Mine have never disappeared, unless I delete them.

This.
Or configure it to leave a copy of the message on the server.

Email big annoyance

OK I've been trying and trying and trying to fix this problem but it seems it just seems crap on android.
using a HTC ONE A9
What's the problem :- proper push email.
THIS IS WHAT I WANT!
I want an email app that can push email like my wifes Iphone 4 BUT and this is a BIG BUT I want a tick box that says keep email on server. If I delete it on my phone I want the option to have a copy still on hotmail.com. (POP3). It works on my wifes Iphone.
Why not on my HTC?
The HTC mail app is crap I have the option to use the outlook.com widget which gives me PUSH Mail, but it doesn't have keep mail on server tick box and deletes it on the server when I delete it on my phone - grrrr
I setup again using pop3/imap widget but doesn't have push!
I have tried other apps (k-9 - yuk), blue mail (yuk) outlook app bigger (yuk). yuk=didn't like!
I have the settings in outlook and gmail that says with pop3 keep mail on server and the phone still deletes it!
Sorry for the rant, but in this day and age of modern phones I didn't expect such difficulty.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
