Hey people, i wanna know if someone has the same trouble than me. The last month I bought a Htc Inspire 4g unlocked, everything´s well, have it a gsm pink sim card, the signal is good and even the gprs speed´s faster than my old phone, the troubles begin when I decided go to the ICE and try to change my old line to a 3g line and have more speed data plan(ICE works with 850 band), the problem is that when I try to connect the HSDPA data plan my phone says that I have an error on the APN configuration but I still can make phone calls, and everything else it´s allright, I tried everything, the ICE configuration on Android is just the same to all the phones, Name kolbi3g or ice, and APN kolbi3g or icecelular and thats all, no proxy, no chanels, and I put in on that in my phone and still doesn´t works, It´s frustrating, if someone in Costa Rica knows the configuration of the APN for this phone I´ll apreciated if can help me
Not sure if this will help or not, but I was there in March (loved it, by the way) and had a little trouble getting mine to work. The problem was that I set up my apn before I went, so the mcc and mnc were set to the numbers for my home network. When I created a new apn, those numbers defaulted from ICE's network and it worked great. So if you are editing the old apn from your first network, that might the problem. Start with a new apn and see if the helps. Good luck.

I just got my Sensation today, unboxed it, but it won't do anything over the internet over wi-fi. I have connected it to my wi-fi router and it says it is connected with 4 bars of signal, but whenever I try to go to a webpage it brings up the Android fault screen saying "Webpage not available", it seems to do the same thing when connected through my pc (having said that, I am less sure my settings are correct for that to work).
I have moved from a Motorola Milestone, which works perfectly on the same network.
Does anyone have any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Cheers,
Dave

the only thing i can personally think is try making sure your router has all the latest drivers.....better yet...try to connect to a different wifi spot to eliminate phone or router. if, with a different known working router it doesn't work, then get worried.
I'm having similar problems. With my Vodafone sim everything works fine, but with my T-Mobile sim (which I want to use until my number is ported), I get 4 bars of HSDPA signal but no data connection and the wi-fi doesn't work.

Thanks, glad I'm not the only one. I've just tried it with my T-Mobile sim, and that has the same problems. Will probably try calling vodafone tomorrow or going in store, I hold out more hope of finding someone helpful online though. My experience of store staff is not 100% positive for technical stuff.
WiFi is good on mine although I don't get a 3g signal at all at home. T mobile sim doesn't connect to internet either but hopefully that should be because the internet settings should be changed for t mobile. I'm hoping that any issue we have can be sorted with a new radio.

You'll probably need to add new APN settings for t-mobile, as the Vodafone Sensation only has the vodafone APN.
lol that what i meant. but vodafone should have a better signal that t-mobile its struggling to keep 1 bar. hope this not one of those antenna bugs that my old tytn 2 had
I've not yet tried WiFi but my mobile data is now working fine on T-Mobile with the following APN settings;
Name: TMobile GPRS
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
Password: pass
Enter that via the APN option in settings under wireless networks.

It looks like it is a problem with my router / network. I have managed to get wireless working on a different wireless network, so I think I need to play with my router to see if I can get that to work.
Thanks for all the help guys.
I am now in Germany and I bought myseld a Sensation yesterday.
It is: Sim Free , Without contract but with only Vodafone branding (same as many of you )
Since I inserted my simcard into the Sensation, I did NOT see a single bar of 3G/HSDPA yet !!!
However I use the same card on my Incredible S, and I get full bar 3G/HSDPA almost everywhere, then I insert the car into my Sensation absolutely no 3G/HSPDA and therefore I can not read my e-mails, my weather won`t update etc etc.
Could this be because I am roaming at the moment ? Anybody have similar issues, this is for sure Phone related as the same simcard works on my Inc S perfectly well.
I am suspecting the firmware of Vodafone has a BUG on 3G/HSDPA when roaming !!! any of you get 3G when roaming on your Sensation ?
Had the same type of problem and resolve it creating a new apn in settings. My operator wasn't recognise fine by the phone (gsm ok but no data) : virgin mobile France (virtual operator from Orange France).
For apn data you can probably found it on your operator website.
Don't know if this is really your problem but just in case ...

Bravo !!
You are clever, because this is a brand new phone and I bought it while i was abroad (roaming) my new sensation did not get the apn setting from my provider automatically. So once manually activating it , it works like a charm. Thank you.
Now all i need is S-OFF the sensation
@ ikhzter just saw your post too
I'd be willing to try this. Would either of you happen to know how to add a new APN? And also, what settings should I put in for T-Mobile US? I can only get Edge speeds, too. I have tried everything else it seems, so this couldn't hurt lol

I think it's not possible because EU Sensation doesn't have AWS band. At least GSMArena says so. I heard people saying EU Sensation also has AWS band so I'm not really sure.

Check your mode, if u are in GSM its normal, use GSM/WDCA Mode... If don't work create new APN

You should check if your phone is really connecting to the HDSPA network. Do you see a H on the top instead of a G or E?
Try the following command: *#*#INFO*#*# (*#*#4636*#*#). There you can check connection status, it's on the first option. Please post what kind of network it's showing and the status, this could help to see if it's really the APN or maybe something else.
Ey thanks for the answer, yeah it has the h+ in top part, it recognizes the hsdpa signal but I still has the same problem doesn't connect cause it says that I having a wrong APN configuration, if somebody knows the APN configuration for this phone here in Costa Rica I'll be appreciated
As with many skyrocket users, there seems to be trouble connecting to the AT&T data network for an extended time. the 4g icon indicates its connected but won't send or receive data unless packet data is disconnected and re enabled. After some hours of research and calls to customer service, I've found what could be a potential fix.
By dialing the ussd code ( *#*#4636#*#*) a menu comes up and gives you the options of
phone information
battery information
Usage statistics
And wifi information.
Under the phone information menu, an option for data network preferences appears at the bottom of the screen. By changing third setting, the connection issues should be solved...
however...
I can't seem to get any of the selections to stay. meaning, are I select my preference and exit, when I return to the screen its at its original setting. I believe it may change and stay if I rout which I haven't due to my phone being an AT&T company phone so if any rooted skyrockets would like to volunteer and test out my theory, we would all be greatly appreciated.

You are basically disabling the LTE radio (network) but it is temporary (for testing purposes). I think using a non-LTE APN will do the same thing and you can change it back when you are ready. Someone that knows more can correct me if I am wrong.
I used that method originally however I ran into the same issues. I was using the CINGULAR.WAP apn.
If anyone knows of another apn that I can test I would appreciate it

OK so this is what worked for me
For apn name i put AT&T and for apn type I put just : Phone and left everything else blank and even input the mms setting found online for at&t and that's got me hspa data so far

yes you have to add the other APNs for this to work. If you only have the PTA APN, it will only lock onto LTE if in a LTE area.
Now if you are rooted and running a ROM where you can change the network within the normal options area, you have to set the APN first then change to H+. It may fail the first time but try it again and eventually it will downshift to H+.

i m have unlocked skyrocket, currently in india using a 3g/4g sim card. i went through the *#*#INFO#*#* menu and selected "WCDMA Preferred" then i turned radio OFF and ON back again. since then it is set to "WCDMA Preferred" only and i m unable to change it.. Is it because i have only 3g available in india..?? also will I be able to change to "GSM/WCDMA/LTE AUTO" when i come back to United States???
AT&T Samsung Galaxy SII SGT-I727 data issues fixed ...
I broke my old HTC Inspire. I purchased a Samsung Galaxy SII SGH-I727 off of the eBay as a replacement.
When I moved the SIM card over everything was fine, except I had no data, even though I have a valid data plan. I still had wireless at home, but my data plan did not work when out on the street.
I called AT&T, told them the issue, and that I suspected that it had something to do with "LTE". They made some internal changes, which sounded like they activated LTE service for me. Data plan now working perfectly.

I have tried absolutely everything possible that I can find here on the xda forum and elsewhere to get my Verizon Samsung S3 up and running on the Tigo network here in Honduras and have come to a dead end.
Android Version: 4.1.2
The phone has been rooted using a step by step thread I found on a blog called rootandunlock (which gives kudos to xda)
Build #: VRBMF1
I have the APN's set up and have gone through activating them but no matter what I do the phone just isn't recognizing the towers here. It does find towers for Claro HND but won't connect to it.
I don't know where to turn at this point, and really would love for this phone to be more than just a lonely paperweight
Same problem
I would love for some one to let us know what we could do!
I found a solution to this problem.. it just isn't really the solution I wanted to find sadly.
After rooting, flashing Omega rom, Clockwork, and going as far as to alternating the APN's to the networks here in Honduras the phone WILL make and receieve calls and texts on the TIGO network (I didn't try Claro), but it will NOT work for data. You can of course use wifi where ever you go, but it will not connect to the data network as far as i've been able to figure out.
From what I read on TIGO, they are using gsm only in Honduras now ( and shutdown cdma ). If this is correct I don't think that data will work on s3. Tonight I will do some more research and see if I can learn more.
But until then it maybe worth changing the network settings? To gsm or global.
