First of all, it sounds as if your board isn't broken, if they say there is a software fix. Could it have run out of battery at a critical point when you were doing something, like flashing a ROM, or something else?
What were you doing or what had you done before it wouldn't wake up?
There's a Motorola Factory Cable that you can buy (or make if you are really enterprising) that can bring the Xoom back from a bricked state (at least most bricked states). Maybe that's what they're planning to use.
Here is the link to the Motorola Factory cable:

Good luck!

You said you used the original OTG cable---was this something you bought after getting the Xoom?

So you can't get the Motorola logo screen at all...it's fully charged but nothing happens no matter what buttons you press? If you know how to get to recovery, I'm just trying to confirm that you have tried all of that. And if that's the case, and it just won't do anything, are you interested in trying the factory cable? Or else I guess you can wait and get the firmware fix. That's better than nothing, but it's hard to understand what happened. One more question, did you encrypt the Xoom? I hear that sometimes that adds complexity to a recovery operation.

thanks for your helping i tried anything that you menioned i think they thinking that i bricked my xoom during the unlock process i'm the first one that came to repair this device although this is authorized motorola repair center now i want to send the device to us for the repair, yesterday i talked with motorola israel they want me to pay for the check a 30$$$ !!!! what should i do

I think you should get it repaired. If they will do it in Israel for a reasonable price, do it there but if US Motorola will fix it under warranty, that would be good too. You need to have your Xoom fixed so you can use it.

open your xoom and down at the bottom there is a small connector.. (red and black wires) next to it..there's two screws on two gold plated ribbons just remove one screw for about 10 seconds and then put it back in...reassemble and hold your power button..worked for me

[Q] Is my Sensation dead?

Hi guys!
I'm Running Leedroid 2.3.0 on my sensation since 2.3.0 was released.
I'm CWM v4.0.1.4 (charging fixed! blue text) on it.
The Phone ran perfect until yesterday. I didn't overclock and didn't do any other special tweaks, i used it as it was.
Yesterday i used google maps navigation for about 5 - 10 minutes. after that the phone was really hot. I stopped navigation and killed google maps with the stock task manager.
I put the phone into my pocket, about 20min later i noticed the phone turned off. it was still a little bit warm.
Now the phone doesn't turn on anymore. when i plug in the charger, nothing happens. not even the orange led turns on. absolutely nothing.
i've tried all combinations off pulling the battery, left it out for som time and plug it in again. try to charge....
No chance - the phone seems to be dead.
I've got no idea if it is a hardware or a software problem. how can i find out?
What can i do?
I think my warranty is void by rooting and flashing the custom rom.
You should check first if the Battery or the phone is the problem. Try getting another battery that u can try out. If it is not working, then probably your phone is dead. However, I would replace it with warranty. Since it's dead they can not turn it on and check if u modded it. Maybe they can detected that if they would take out the mainboard and connect it to some JTAG device, but I'm 99.9% sure they will not do this. Imagine the costs of doing this with every phone they get for replacement... It's not easy to detect if the Software on the phone was manipulated once the phone is dead due to a hardware defect.
What you can also try ist connect it to usb port on PC and try turning on. Does the PC detect anything?
PC doesn't detect anything.
I tried another battery today, same problem.
Do you think it is a hardware problem?
It may have gotten so hot it damaged some of the hardware. Like he said up there ^ take it to Tmobile and ask them to replace it. These things are notorious for overheating anyways so your story will be believable.

agreed. warranty, warranty, warranty
i think it is best for you to bring back to the tmobile store to get it check or get a new replacement. dont answer too much questions if they ask because they might try to look for away to void your warranty or refuse for service.
I'll bring it to t-mobile tomorrow.
I got a new one.
T-Mobile replaced it.

HTC One X doesnt turn on

okay,
My device doesnt turn on anymore. no light while charging...
it has drain the battery over the night, was full and after 8h of sleep it was at 12% and after draining all the battery I've put the charger on and no light, no way to turn it on.
I've installed CleanRom 2.6 SE just before going to sleep.
Any Idea ?

wait what? he said he flashed a new rom then let it die....so it turned back on after you flashed right? keep it plugged in for awhile sometimes like on my samsung tab it takes a good 15 mins before it does anything, i have att and i flash rogers radios and roms all the time with no brick.
been charging for like an hour and nothing ...
Plugged into the wall with the supplied charger cable with it?
I use to charge my xperia on my laptop, although for whatever reason when i used the phone [with data off] / had data on whether in use or not, it drained faster than it charged.
Phone is close and charging for 2hours now ... still no light and no way to open in
Try to see if you can get in to boot (power+vol down) while plugged into your computer and try flashing an older RUU. Even if the screen doesn't show anything see if your computer might pick it up.
This happened to me too. Phone was fine, charged over night and was 100% when i left to work in the morning. Used Google navigation for 5 minutes and than let the phone sit for the next half hour. By the time i tried to use it again the phone was off and dead.
Nothing worked to turn it on. Charging, hard resets, plugging to computer all failed. I read somewhere that someone had same issue and after 24 hours connected to USB the phone finally began working again. I tried that too but unfortunately only solution was to send it in for a new one =(
Hope you have better luck than me.
Nop, doesnt work
Yeah looking like I'll need to send it to HTC and pay to have it repaired since I've unlocked it
Nice waist of 650$ bucks
anybody know how much it cost to have it repaired by HTC ? after 3 week of usage LOL

phone has a 1 year warranty from HTC so it should cost nothing unless they decide that what you did bricked it since you unlocked the bootloader. What is your carrier's policy, do they handle exchanges for the first 30 days for example?
finally I've call rogers they'll send me an HTC One X within 15 days by the Post. cost me 35$ for the replacement and told me the only way they'll charge me more is if it has been Water Damage ...
So finger cross it wont take 3 week to receive it !
*BTW HTC doesnt repair phone in canada ! (I call them) It is the responsibility of the sellers (ROGERS, BELL or TELUS)

Just incase anyone else has this problem.......I had exactly the same problem and just pressed the power and volumn buttons randomly and eventually it botted into bootloader. I dont know what combination of buttons did it but if you do the same it might work.

How to unroot for repair?

Hi guys
My device spent 15 minutes on a wet patch of grass, embedded in mud though thankfully it had stopped raining. I found it caked in gloop and spent that night cleaning the ports and making it shiny again. It worked fine after until 3 days later (today). Now the USB port appears to have stopped working; it won't charge nor will my PC recognize it. It worked flawlessly before the mud incident.
I have the JellyBelly ROM installed with CWM recovery ... and obviously need to send it in for repair. Good chance Vodafone won't do it under warranty because I'm rooted etc. Plus it's a work phone so I will get told off if I truly voided the warranty!
Can I get the phone back to stock status, either ICS or JB, with a locked bootloader?
Thanks in advance ~ !
Edit: I realise I can unroot and re-lock using USB cable through my Win PC but .... worse case scenario came true & cannot use the USB cable!

I dont think that is possible to do such things without using pc. just try that to another pc cause it might be your phones fault and the pc`s.

Hmm I have two cords, a charger and a USB cable. Neither works all of a sudden and yes, I tried another PC with same result. All my reading seems enforces that a PC connectoin is required to lock the device through fastboot / ADB.
Any other ideas, xda? (and thanks for your reply)
Sometimes if you take for a repair shop that they repair phones they can do it without a problem. I'm not sure if they would mind if it was rooted or not and if you have an unlocked bootloader. All they need to do is change the USB port. I haven't checked but with a friend of mine he has jailbroken his iphone and the power button stopped working and the repair shop accepted it. So, just try but I'm sure they would accept it.

[Q] ***HELP*** Transformer won't turn on.

My transformer will not turn on. I used it a couple days ago but don't remember if I fell asleep or powered down. I went to turn back on this morning but there is no response. If I plug in the charger I can see the light come on. Also if I hold the power button it will give a quick vibrate after about 10 seconds. Has anyone else had this problem?
Its rooted and unlocked. Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.
I forgot to mention that there is nothing being displayed on the screen at anytime whatsoever...

Try cold booting it? Turn it off and then turn it on while holding the volume down button.
Try connecting it to your laptop, see if detects it???
Maybe its a software app thing?

Already tried both. Problem is, is that there is no way to see if the device is even powered on... The battery meter on the screen doesn't even show up when its plugged in/charging...
Wow....that sucks.
If your computer doesnt detect it, then idk what you could do.... cuz if it did, then you could try to use adb to try and restarting t.
It sucks that its unlocked or i would have said to just contact asus to get it replaced.
Other than that, its hard to say...sorry man.

Held down power, volume down, and volume up at the same time.
Then tried the paper clip in the reset button by the hdmi input.
Then I tried both ideas again with the charger plugged in....
Frustrating. Unless someone has anymore ideas I may just try and send it in. Hopefully they cant tell if its been unlocked or not because nothing is being displayed..

You can't send to ASUS when you use unlock tool they get your S/N and save it in case something like this happens. The only way I can see around this would be if you bought it at a Best Buy. They maintain 1 year manufacturer warranties if you bought from them so you could feasibly take to geek squad/Customer service and say it just stopped working. They wouldn't have record that you unlocked the tab. You would most likely need the receipt or some confirmation you bought it there though. Good luck.
Sorry friend, seems like you are in real trouble. I had a very similar problem, my only solution was to exchange it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203565
As you have unlocked yours, the warranty is no longer valid, and although Asus will fix it, you will have to pay to get it done. Since I'm on my second TF, and it even has had a problem that nearly bricked it, I am simply afraid to unlock it while still within the warranty period.
Might get lucky and see something with it connected to the HDMI port.

They did with my TF201 and this guys TF700 just a month ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240970
They took back my TF201 in August last year. I was told by BB it was done under the manufacturers warranty. It really does depend on who you talk to and how you approach them with the problem. Several people had to try different BB stores until they found that one person working there that either knew HOW to do it or was willing to take it back.
I had the same problem. Tried all the ideas mentioned above. I then put it on the charger for a day and afterwards it just booted like nothing had happened.

TF201 is a different tab and basically BB and asus came to an agreement to take them back. The guy in your link got lucky. Probably only got a trade because of the extreme nature of the defect. Fact is you cannot just go into BB and get a new tablet under mfg warranty.

Exactly.
Now for the good news. My tablet came back to life last night after 3 weeks of trying. It was totally dead and wouldn't even vibrate anymore. plugged it in and it actually tried to boot right away but then turned off. Let it charge for a few and tried again and it booted no problem. Battery % is now showing accurately and it has now been running fine for 12 hours.
My problem is I went out and got an HP envy x2 (win8) tab on saturday. Now to decide which to keep... I love the envy but the new quad cores are coming out this fall which should really make it a versatile little laptop. Just don't know if I can live with android now that I have a taste of full win 8.

Any updates? My TF700 stopped turning on as well. Same recovery efforts, now waiting on the battery to drain. I unlocked/rooted for cleanrom (faster/better). Worked fantastic till last thursday and it refused to turn on in my college class. This could signal my exit from Android even though I have a lot of money invested in apps.

Good to hear. Aside from the snappier response of cleanrom my biggest issue with the asus firmware was the waste of screen space on the home screen. It had like a 1" border all the way around that you can't put an icon in and that annoyed me the most of all. Been waiting the battery to go completely dead before I send it in just hoping that fixes it.

Moto G (3rd gen) problems

So this is the story...My friend bought a Moto G 3rd gen from America with warranty (she can turn it back if she wants).First it was going all great but after some months of using it she started having problems.I'm reminding you she has not rooted or unlocked bootloader or anything else (little bit noob about this things) anyway her phone slowed down in a way she couldn't do anything and she couldn't even charge the phone at 100%! It always charge about 80-90% no matter How long you leave it charging..She told me the problem so the first thing as she doesn't want root and other stuffs,I factory reset it as anybody in the world would think that it will solve most of the problems,as it did but only for a week or less(it still wouldn't charge to 100%).Now after a month it started having no sound problems!Sha hasn't dropped her phone but the next morning the speakers didnt work!
Please tell me a solution: should she turn back her phone because she has a warranty?
I'm trying to help her because she always give me her homeworks or she helps me in exams lol
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english!
Turn it in. A factory reset didn't help and it's still under warranty.

I'm more worried for the sound problem,is there a way to check if it's my problem (I broke it) or its the phone? And if it's mine, will they take the phone or will they say no?Thanks
If you haven't stuck anything in the speaker hole and there is no physical damage then you didn't cause it. Do another factory reset for the sound problem, make sure the charger and cord are ok by trying another charger and if it's still broken send it back.
