If you just used the RUU, then you should still be S-OFF. Just install a custom recovery then install whatever rooted ROM you want.

How do you have a gold card saved on your CPU? Guess you mean PC. The goldcard is your modified micro sd card. And yes the card can be used again and again.

thanks to all and it did work...after I woke up and tried again without the beers this time.

Help! Stuck in Hboot Loop. [SOLVED]

Help! I installed Android Rev 3.0 with no problems at all...worked great! Today I noticed Android Rev 4.0. I saw in the instructions that you needed to WIPE to install. Being a noob, I thought that meant that you had to format the sd card...which I did using rom manager. Then in rom manager I went to install the new Android Rev 4.0 off of my newly formatted sd card...and i've been stuck in a HBOOT loop ever since. I can't even get the phone to be recognized by my computer to try to flash RUU. I do have S-off. I do have the clockworkmod backup recovery.img, system.img and boot.img...but I can't get past this HBOOT loop. I tried everything to get into recovery...but nothing works...even tried system restore...nothing. I think the sd card might have lost its goldcard status because it no longer says "goldcard". Could that be the problem? Any suggestions? I need help before my 30 day return status is gone!

It's not suppose to help getting into recovery. Quick question tho: when you get into bootloader, does any option that you choose send you back to bootloader?
Can you get into fastboot?
If you can this might help.

When the phone starts...it goes into fastboot...then goes to HBOOT...then runs the PD98IMG...updates....goes back to HBOOT screen. When I select recovery...it shows the HTC logo...fades to black...then nothing. No button pressing in the world gets it out of that black screen. I take the battery out...put it back in...and back to the fastboot screen I go. I'm going to try the new updated PD98IMG file mentioned...fingers crossed! I wonder if it would be as simple as getting a SD card file dump from someone who just installed AR 3.0 and putting the same files on my card? I dunno...gonna try the PD98IMG again first!
You might have to run the RUU and then re root

The PD98IMG.zip that I downloaded from this thread worked! I can't believe it! It's a miracle!
If only I didn't snap my sd card cover in half trying to remove it numerous times...I would be completely unfazed...but now I have to scour ebay to find a replacement!
Thanks to everyone who helped! I hope this will help some other lost soul! Now to reroot and get that AR 4.0 installed!

Sd card

I'm new to inspire... And I Know to be rooted one must make a gold card my question is if I get a new sd card will I loose root... Currently I have a 8gb sdcard but want to Upgrade to a 16gb card
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
Nope, the only way to lose root is to flash a non-rooted rom. I upgraded to a 32GB card last week and everything is working great.

Just remember if you get a new SD Card then all your CWM backups are stored on the old one unless you transfer them over.

So I get it that the only way to lose Root is to flash a non rooted phone, my question is if I was to replace the SD card but save the gold card, flash a non rooted Rom and want to go back and reroot the phone would all I have to do is reinstall the first gold card and run the root process or do I have to recreate the gold card once again?

Actually, on the Inspire, S-OFF is rather hard to revert. Just flashing a stock ROM or running a stock RUU won't do it. You need to go through most of the rooting steps, then run "gfree -s on", then run the RUU or install stock update.

OK Gene so really the only time I would need a gold card is for S-OFF and or returning to factory stock S-ON correct me if I'm wrong here. I just want to be clear as to pertaining to the security of the Gold Card. and when we would need or not need it. The captivate was so easy to root and or unroot to factory stock, The inspire is a bit different.
Thanks and didn't mean to highjack this thread but I do think these are valid qestions that need good answers.

A gold card has but one purpose: installing an official update on a device that is not the same model as the update was intended, period. For instance, installing the downgrade ROM (which is for DesireHD--model PD9810000) on an Inspire (model PD9812000).
If you're S-OFF, then no such restriction exists so you don't need a gold card to revert. You don't need it to install the official Inspire RUU either since it has the correct model ID.

[Fixed :D] Help please! As good as bricked? :(

Hi guys, I was flashing some ROMS, and as I was running out of space on my SDCard, i decided to format it. I went ahead and backed it up on my pc, then formatted (mounted as disk drive on CWM on the phone). After that, I transferred my next ROM to the SD Card, ejected and unmounted it from my PC, and tried to install it on the phone. When I hit install from SDCard on the phone, it threw me the error (E) can't mount sdcard. So i thought, well, maybe the format was done wrong. So I formatted it again, this time out of the phone. Put it back in, same error. Looked for another SDCard, same error. So, I panicked. I looked for the PG58IMG.zip to reinstall recovery, and transferred it to the SD. Powered on my phone to bootloader, nothing happens, it just "scans" my SD but finds nothing. So I panic even more, and I'm now downloading the official TMO Ruu to flash to my phone, although i have a feeling it won't work. :'(
Any ideas?
BTW mounting the sdcard as a disk drive in Recovery works.
BTW#2 I have no working ROM right now on my phone, because i was experimenting with the new leaked 2.3.4 before this happened. I just wanted to try out Leedroid, but since I didn't have much space on my SD, i formatted it.
What happens when you try to format the SD card in recovery? Can you even access recovery??

I can access recovery and format the SDCard. I tried to flash the ROM via fastboot but it didn't work. I'm so nervous I'm just gonna try to flash Stock.
Any other ideas are welcome though.
So when you format the card in clockwork can you mount it and copy a file to it then read the zip file from the phone? or not. You may brick it trying to flash it to stock if you can access clockwork its most likely not bricked
Ok so the phone booted up after flashing stock, but it still can't read any SD Cards. Seems the Sd card port got fuxd up.
Can you flash ANY other roms?
EDIT: I hate when I think I'm responding to something only to find I'm behind everything...haha

Well if you can read the SD Card with the usb cable in clockwork mod it isnt fuxxed up, Do you happen to have any other sd cards or another phone that can read that sd card? can you format the sd card in the android os? read it with astro or a similiar file explorer?
Go to the setting > Mounts and storage then unmount the sdcard or mount whatever is available then unmount/mount again and do this 2 times. Then when the card is mounted, connect the phone to the computer using the normal USB cable and select 'Disk drive' on the phone and then probably if your computer shows the 'scan and fix' option for the sdcard then you're safe! I think It's your SDCard which got screwed not the port, cuz you played with it bit too much! If this doesn't work, no problem, go to HTC's service center and tell them that the card is faulty, they'll replace it!

It could have, didnt you say that you could read the sd card with the usb cable connected when you were in recovery? Check the pins make sure none of them are bent or anything.

This is exactly what i had dude when i semi-bricked
Its the security message in purple at the top like this
***security warning***
Pyramid PVT Ship S-on RL
Did you use Super CID first?
what device is yours, Tmous, EU, voda or what?
Flash the same rom as you had using RUU.exe and be patient with it
Try a different pc, download it from the link in post 1 or here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1074559
If you have supercid
try this one RUU_Pyramid_HTC_Europe_1.35.401.1
thats what restored it for me.
i know the feeling its crap. but atleast your S-on
dude it has to work
run it as administrator too
I have seen a similar error several times in past devices. Usually just doing a "fix permissions" takes care of it. If you still have root, go into rom manager and do "fix permissions".
SN: If you do contact HTC be honest about what happened to the phone. Don't try to lie your way into a replacement device. When you removed S-On and gained root, there are certain risks that you took on with your device. People who take on those risks, subsequently cause a problem to their devices, and then send the phone back to the manufacturer are the cause of having an encrypted bootloader to begin with (Since manufacturers are starting to feel like they have to protect themselves from these exact type of scenarios).
If your device is a T-mobile USA try that one.
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cb7...00P_10.11.9007.15_M_release_193714_signed.exe

Did you restore to stock
install clockwork recovery
then go to S-on?

There's an alternative fastboot method for flashing the RUU if you're S-ON. I can't say for sure that it will work (so no responsibility taken) but the "fastboot oem rebootRUU" command does put the phone into the correct state. If you want to try, extract the rom.zip from the latest T-Mobile RUU and follow these instructions:

Ok, guys, thanks for all the help. I haven't tried anything else, but just wanted to give you guys some more info.
1) I do not have superCID.
2) I am not lying to HTC, because what happened to my phone has nothing to do with S-OFF or whatever. It is a hardware failure, when I formatted my SDCard while inside the phone, maybe it burned the port or something happened to it.
3) Yes, I am a little scared lol.
4) Yes, I am S-ON right now. Just with the warning message on the top in the bootloader.
5) No, the phone doesn't boot up, it just goes straight to the bootloader.
I am as good as a Noob, but ...I will pray for you... Good Luck....

[Q] Goldcard Problem

Hello all. I formatted my goldcard and i think its back to a regular sd card. I tried to make it into another goldcard. I cant use my Inspire so all I have is the sd card adapter (It said that i could use that too). In the process i couldnt get the CID #. It told me to make sure i had the HTC sync drivers installed which i do. I installed them twice, rebooted my computer, I tried everything. Still nothing. I tried to flash a rom but it said installation aborted. Same with the full wipe zip. Anyone have any ideas what i could do? Please help, thank you.

Sorry for the ignorance but what is AAHK? And dont you need a goldcard to flash roms and such? I thought that was the reason it said installation aborted.
The only time a gold card is needed is when you first root the phone. It isn't needed to flash a rom once rooted. And if you check the Dev forum, you'll find out what the AAHK is.

Read the effen manual, or you won't be happy with the outcome.
To put it simply, AAHK means Advanced Ace Hack Kit.
Please for the love of all that is tech, learn what you are doing BEFORE you do it. Or like stated above. You will not be very happy but you, will have a nice paper weight
Exactly, Learn exactly what you're doing BEFORE you use the AAHK, lest you piss off ATTN1, then we're all screwed (The last time somebody pissed off ATTN1, he shut down development of the AAHK, dark days those were)
Sorry to all but some **** always goes wrong.
Ive flashed roms ,kernels ,everything then my phone started screwing up over like a night. one day perfectly fine, next day piece of crap. i never used the AAHK, i used bubbys method.
Ok well here is the thing. A gold card is only used once and then it can be discarded. It has nothing to do with any issues you are having now. I would reflash your ram and then do each mod one by one. What is going wrong?

Well I made a stupid mistake a while ago. I did a full wipe thinking of reflashing my rom not knowing that I didnt have a Rom in my SD card. So my phone gets stuck on the splash screen. So I use a sd card adapter instead of plugging my phone in charge only mode, usb debugging, etc.
Then I formatted my sd card and when I tried to flash a rom, in the process it said installation aborted. Same with the full wipe zip.
I just want to know what Im supposed to do in the AAHK. Do i do a certain thing, or the whole process? Because in the AAHK it tells me to plug phone to computer via USB port and stuff, but i cant do that. All i have now is the SD card adapter.

RUU erase sd card?

I was wondering if anyone knew if running a RUU.exe is supposed to erase everything from your phone?
Just yesterday I did the Moonshine S-Off again to put a newer radio on my phone.
Everything went well, and when I went to plug my phone into my computer to put my backup on my phone to restore it the backup was already there. The sd card wasn't erased.
I'm not complaining, I just thought everything would be erased.
