I didnt want to spam anywhere else. I do not care if I am lacking experience. I do not want a step by step how to. I would please like to know what I would have to go about doing to port a rom from an Acer iconia rom. And also how different of hardware do we have? I really appreciate any answers, just please no insults. Thanks all!
And als, I assure you all I have combed over xda and Google to no avail.

What features are you hoping to include? The acer has the same cpu as the Xoom--Nvidia Tegra 2 (if I'm not mistaken), but beyond that, there are hardware differences.
well, it was more, how do you port. i have a rom made of copy and pastes from other roms, using team tiamat as a base for my own personel use. but i do not know how to test if it is bootable without the possibly bricking my device. so there in lies my real question.
more than porting rom we should be more concerned about compatible apps for honeycomb
i feel we do not have as much apps as available for gingerbread(or sorry to say ipad )
Well, if I can get this rom bootable, I might be able to get my touchwiz rom bootable. And I would say that would be nice for the community

Hey guys, I've been playing around with building CM quite a bit lately. I've made more than a handful of apps. I've read tons of articles, including the ones in the infamous post that Cyanogen made. I'm just looking for answers to a couple questions. First of all, I understand how to build CM from source, but I don't know where to get the files for the transformer. I know you can get the kernel source from asus, but I'm wanting to modify the stock rom. Also, is there some sort of method similar to using the extract-files.sh script that cyanogenmod uses when setting up your environment? One last thing, once I get all of those and I make the modifications that I want, how do I build said rom? Do I have to write the make files myself?
I've searched all over the place for at least a month on and off now. If I'm just retarded, then flame away, but every time I ask somebody for help I'm just met with "You need to read more." If somebody could please just help me out a little here I would greatly appreciate it.
Mods can you delete this? I figured it out on my own...

Nnnoooooooooo!!! Share your information with us! I was considering trying a quick & dirty ICS build for the TF101, but didn't even know where to start. If you know all that stuff relevant to the TF101, please share! :-D

I'm buiding a ROM as well and searching for inforation as well...
Alright alright haha. I'm still getting things straightened out, but I'll tell you what I know so far. I've got alot of studying to do right now, but you can add me on google talk. [email protected]. I'll be posting tutorials on my website for various things including the ROM stuff that I learn once I get finished with finals. I'll post a link here when I get some tutorials up.
Just let me know who you are when you add me.
Cool, three months from now you'll probably have almost everyone that wants to make a ROM, trying to add you.

Well I am more than willing to help. I've had my struggles and there are very few people who seem to want to. Of course I would imagine that most of the people who are developers on here get bombarded with messages all the time. I'll probably end up posting some tutorials on my site eventually. Hopefully that will help.
Since the hardware should be the same except for the display, I think it would be great to have the A510 also covered in this forum. Currently there are some threads in the A500 forum since we had no place to go but I think it would be a good Idea to move those threads over.
Does anyone disagree?

+1 to that,if its makes developing for both tablets easier and faster.
The problem is that both tablet do net run the same Android version. A510 uses Android 4.0.3 and A700 is using 4.0.4 so you'll get differences between the two.
There's basically little difference between 4.0.4 and 4.0.3. Moreover when the community becomes ripe enough, there'll be intelligent developers making some awesome roms for both. Not to forget there,s also CM9
Face it A510ers, the A510 is kind of like the little kid in The Omen
I am kidding of course, since if the only difference in hardware with the 700 is the display, the 700 could be the Omen child. Could be one hot device of the temperature kind.
Ready to be covered here, it does seem a better fit. tired of wading through the 500 posts because they really don't relate at all.

The question has been put to Administration. We will keep you guys updated as soon as we gen an answer, may take a couple of days though - Admins are very busy :good:
Just to update, your lovely UE Administrator, Svetius, has added an A510 Development sub-section for you guys.
Enjoy! :good:

I'm interested to find out if it is possible to run a rom from another device on my Conquer 4G. I've looked at the specs on it, and they are nearly identical to that of the Galaxy S. Anyone know if that would be possible, or would I be better off just dropping my phone in the pool and bricking it that way?

"Nearly" isn't always good enough. It may work, but some features may cause it to freeze, or crash. Unless the components are virtually identical and even then, there may be issues relating to the product id's that are supported on one device but not the other. Someone here with specific knowledge of the devices in question may find this post and give more useful info.

The ROM could be ported over to your device fairly easily.

Any guides or information on how I might go about doing this? I'm totally a noob at doing roms, and I would really like to learn. There really aren't many roms for my phone (Conquer 4G), so I'd love to be able to adapt some of the roms from other devices for use with my phone.

Choosing which ROM to port is part of the same problem I'm having with my Zenithink tablet. As for info on porting, there's no shortage of that on xda, but I haven't had much luck with the search engine here. Best to Google the site.
ie; Google search, "porting rom site:forum.xda-developers.com"
without the double quotations marks.
I'd dig through my links to help out, but I haven't enough brownie points yet to post links on here.

I found one link here on the site, but I got confused on it rather quickly. I'm going to have to read it and make sure to ask questions where applicable because there are alot of really nice roms out there for other phones (The Galaxy S for instance) that I would love to try with my phone.
Hello all,
I'm still pretty new to some of using ROMs so I thought I'd ask a question to get the exports reply.
Can I use a ROM made for the GT-N7100 on my Sprint SPH-L900? From what I understand both phones are essentially the same hardware but I don't want to end up bricking my phone.
Thank you for any replies assistance you give me.

No, you can't. The ROM would have to be ported by a dev to enable you to do that.
Bottom-line as stated above...
Do not use any ROM that is not developed for your Device. In other words, look in your device development forums for ROMs of choice, unless you plan on porting something for yourself, but that is different discussion.
Failure to understand this, will result in an expensive paper weight. I good idea would be going to your device forums and looking but ensure you do your homework.
Thanks & Thread Closed.
I just got this phone today and was wanting to put a custom rom on it, only question is...what do I want to put on it. I'd love to put JB on it but have seen where its not too stable and I'd like a fully functional rom to start with although I'm not afraid to do some trial and error runs with different roms. But anyways I'm wondering what everyone has to recommend and why.
Thanks!

CM10 is stable. ICS and 4.1.2 are what you should be flashing.
Be prepared to be flamed by people that think they're better than you btw

I think there should be one best of thread, maybe stickied, where people can compare and discuss roms. But yeah the mods do not like best of threads because some people are too sensitive and take things personally.
OP first I suggest read and read and read....since you just received your device, I can not stress the importance of doing your homework, and you will just have to test the ROMs yourself, with so many variables involved with different users, only you can make the call what is best for you and what meets your needs...
Thank You.
