Weird dock battery probem - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've got the dock for 2 days now. After unboxing, I charged for 8 hrs following manual instructions. Used it with the Pad for some hours (I don't remember for how long) till it ran out of battery, charge for another 8 hrs last night. Then I left it undocked for about half day. As I was running out to a cafeteria, I just docked the Pad (which was in standby state), hop in the car, and now, when I open the pad, the dock's battery is completely ran out, 0%. My dock S/N is B80. Has anyone countered the same problem? What is happening with it? Thanks.

I believe that there are apps in the Market that will allow you calibrate your sensors.... Take a look - let me know if you can't find anything...

I've had some issues lately with the newer firmwares where the tablet refuses to go into deep sleep until it's been rebooted, especially if you leave the browser with tabs open for an extended period of time.
Been using CPU Spy to keep track of it. It doesn't really seem to be related to any specific apps (ran it this way for a week after a full wipe and not installing anything new on both stock and Prime 1.8.4) in that even with a nearly blank slate it will still do this. Haven't figured out why yet but a reboot seems to temporarily fix it.

I have tried to find but it seems there is no apps that can deal with dock battery calibration. Could you help to post the link? Thanks.
What's weirder now is that I undock the pad, charge the dock with stock power cable/adapter, after 2.5 hrs, the dock battery is still empty, red light keeps blinking. Is it a sign that my dock is malfunction?

Well, I found some suggestions in the link below, tried "Cold reboot" and the problem seemed solved, at least for now

Sounds like the issue you have is more to do with the dock not charging over any excessive drain.
Have you tried charging it connected to the tablet see if it fares any better? Otherwise if its still not charging you may want to RMA the dock.

your problem is no problem you can solve. when the dock is connected, the tablet is using the dock to charge its own battery. once the docks battery is depleted, the tablet will be at 100% still. you should still be able to use the dock till the tablets battery dies as well, but with a blinking dock light

so if you're battery is depleted in the dock does the battery need to be replaced? Is there really no other option?
My keyboard and mouse still work fine the dock just won't charge. The orange light blinks and the dock leaches power off the tablet.
I have a bit of electronics experience and I've tried every reset you can do to the tablet with the dock connected and tried different chargers.
The problem seems to be in the port, the computer doesn't recognize is as a USB connection, so it's not even getting power from there. I read somewhere there is an internal switch that causes the battery to not charge. I flipped the switch with the tablet inserted, while charging and not charging and a bunch of different ways and that didn't help it still won't charge. Do I just need to replace the whole battery?

Have you tried charging from an outlet, not the computer ?

[Q] Tablet and Keyboard Dock battery drains when turned off???

I have had the tablet and the dock battery's drain all the way while connected and with the tablet turned off. I do have the latest firmware for the tablet and the dock.
Has anyone else had this issue?
The battery dock still has draining issues, even while off. I'm not sure why your tablet drained as well -- perhaps the dock started to charge it and tablet turned on due to it? or maybe the tablet started to charge the dock while it was draining and ended up both being dead.
yeah Im really not sure what happened but I do know when I went to turn on the tablet it started up and only had about 13% battery left when it was fully charged when I turned it off.
Check your wireless disconnect policies, if its set to Never then that might explain why.

Im not sure where to check that.
OFF as in you held the power button until it asked if you wanted to shut off, or SLEEP, as in just tapped the power button (or lock button on the keyboard)?
The Lock key on the keyboard, or just tapping the power button puts the unit in SLEEP, which is not really sleeping, it just turns off the screen and depending on your wireless power policy, WiFi may still be on. Apps still run. Stuff still communicates with the interwebs.
off as in i held the power button and hit shut down.
Mine is doing it as well. Did a complete shutdown yesterday after fully charging both the pad and dock. Just turned it on and the dock is blinking orange. I also had the WiFi disabled. Even when you do a shutdown it seems something is not shutting down.

ASUS never said that they fix the dock battery drain issue while tablet is docked and powered off. Have they?

im not sure. At least i know its not just me.
I hope they push the update where we can see the battery live for the dock soon.
Mine is doing the same thing. Keyboard was charged when I closed the lid and then blinking 6 to 8 hrs later. Wasn't doing this with firmware .12 with the keyboard battery indicator. I really hope they bring back some of the .12 features soon.

My keyboard dock no longer seems to hold much if any charge, I left it charging yesterday until the keyboard dock light stopped flashing and stays on steady (I assume that means its full) and now 4 hours later the keyboard dock light is flashing and no longer charging the tablet.
if i recall, this is a known issue with the dock. When not in use, it will still drain the battery. If plugged into the tablet at the time, im pretty sure the tablet will drain also. I think asus is aware and i thought i saw somewhere that there will be a fix once 3.1 is out, that will put the dock into a very low power state when not in use.
so i guess we will see once 3.1 is out

I believe only Solid Green is full.
Interesting I've only when seen a solid orange light, perhaps that just means charging, will try again tonight.

Same issue. Had a fully charged dock and a partially charged Transformer.
Was very pleased to see the tablet start to charge when I docked it, and not so pleased when I got up in the morning and both were dead.

Leave it turned on then
Just for the record, I have the same issue. Dock battery drains really quickly when turned off and in sleep mode.

that might be a good idea it might not drain as fast!
Does it help if I leave the tablet and the dock disconnected when turned off?

Dock battery drain over night,...

I charged dock alone until green led showed, docked tablet (tablet has around 40% battery), closed lid and left overnight.
I woke up, tablet was off, and dock battery was 0%, tablet still has around 40% battery.
This is 3th time it happened while tablet was docked.
Any idea what should I do to find out what is causing it?
Thank you in advance

Are you on Android ICS? This was a common problem with the dock and the tab not being able to deep sleep. If you have a rooted tab try a new ROM. I had battery issues with the all the ICS variants (Early) and finally settled on the CM9 w/o out cornerstone as a daily ROM.
I am on ricardos CM9s, now its Megatron and hopefully ill not have this problem.

[Q] Battery issues

I have a weird battery issue. I will charge my tablet with dock or the dock by itself all night. The next morning when I plug the two into each other the dock battery reads 100% but drops to 70% within 5 minutes then discharges normally. This makes me believe it is not really charging fully.
I have seen some battery issues but not quite like this. My tablet is a B70, dock is a B60, using Megatron Rom.

Check out a battery app to make sure your battery is healthy and clear the battery stats in CWM
Ok should I wait until fully charged to wipe battery stats or can I do it any time?

guide to keeping battery healthy (not mine)
1. Charge your phone fully to 100%
2. Reboot to ClockworkMod, go to advanced, "wipe battery stats".
3. Use your phone till it dies (screen goes blank, ignore the battery percentages and low battery warning)
4. Charge your phone again till 100%
5. From now on just try to make sure you charge your phone before it reaches 30%, and you'll be fine with an increased batter performance for few weeks/months.
Thank you.
Perhaps the issue is that I basically use the dock until it dies completely and then some just about every weekday.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
ya NEVER let the dock die completely it causes tons of wierd issues
There isn't much I can do. I need it to type all day and that usually means it goes past its charge.

It should go to about 3% then stop it only completely drains if the tablet drains too
If it actually goes to 0 then thats a hardware issue
I am pretty sure I have seen it hit 0 before. I will watch it this time. I know I have used it to the point where the light goes past the fast blinking stage and goes out completely and then the tablet battery starts to drain instead. I have never drained both the dock AND the tablet though.
I was planning to get a TF Infinity when it comes out but if this is how finicky things are going to be I may not want another.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk 2
Ya thats defiantly not right... It should only drain to 3 before switching to the tablet battery. HW issue most likley
Well I will try wiping stats after I charge it tonight and see if that helps.
Thanks for your help.

Dock Battery Drain

I was under the impression that this issue was solved in the Prime model, but it doesn't seem like it. I adore my Infinity, but the dock is draining like crazy. Even if the dock is not connected to the tablet, for some reason it will drain to 0% in a day. It does the same when attached to the tablet and both are completely shut down.
The keyboard does not wake the tablet up when in sleep mode, unlike the Prime issue. The battery saving mode is ticked. Is this normal? It's odd that it drains when not connected to the tablet. Otherwise, it does its job, and charges the tablet. For the record, it is the dock that has TF700t on the box and TF201 on the label. Should I just exchange it for another, or does this affect all of them? Not liking that I can't leave it overnight and have a usable tablet in the morning.
That sure sounds like a hardware issue. My dock lasts *much* longer than one day...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk 2
Guess I'll be exchanging it then. Hopefully Best Buy takes ship-to-store returns in-store.
Obviously it will empty in a day when connected, but on its own? Nah, this indeed sounds like a rightful return to me.
peoparte manufacture.
Mine is doing the same but worse. Keyboard has only worked acouple times and drains quickly and even when tablet is disconnected its stillshowing the the docking connected 0%. Whats worse is i paid a premium price for a tf201 dock with a tf700 compatible sticker when i couldhave just bought the tf201 one for $99. Add to this i bought them online from Amazon USA and paid for fedex to where i live. Australia!!!!! Now what. I cant even get it to check the keyboard firmware version.
I fully charged my tablet and dock last night after draining both batteries over the weekend. I'm about to go to bed at 1:30 AM and my dock is at 16% and the tablet is at 71% battery life. This is with lite to normal use like surfing the web, listening to music, checking e-mail and watching a couple of videos. Now, when I first connected my dock (fully charged) to the tablet, it did drain the battery overnight, but it that only happened once.

[Q] dock (keybord) battery drain

I use the dock (keyboard) always so I'm not happy that the tabled drains the keyboard.
When the tablet gets around 85% battery it's going to drain the battery from the keyboard till it is out of battery.
Is it possible to let the tablet drain the dock if it is around 25%
I have this problem since the first day (stock rom) I went to custom rom's in the hope that it was a bug of Asus.
Maybe some can help me to fix this. It is annoying that I have to use power after 1.5 hours of use
Thanks,
The keyboard works with emty battery.
my keyboard battery is dead right now andit still works perfect mate
