[Q]About the dock battery

I bought a dock for my TF few days ago and today I drained the battery for the first time. It went to 3% and then started to use tab battery (or I think so) . Then I turned it off leaving the tab docked. After maybe 3 hours I turned it on and dock battery was at 1 %. I immediately undocked my TF and started charging the dock.
Do you think this is the famous dock drain issue? I mean is it normal for the dock battery to drop to 1 %? Isn't it supposed to stop using the battery when it's bellow 3% to prevent it from reaching ZERO and killing it.
Excuse me for the stupid thread.

I have a similar problem where my dock will no longer charge over 0%. The problem appeared out of nowhere, and I have no idea how to fix it. Nobody else seems to have found a definitive fix either. I might have to send it back to Asus

I've got the dock for 2 days now. After unboxing, I charged for 8 hrs following manual instructions. Used it with the Pad for some hours (I don't remember for how long) till it ran out of battery, charge for another 8 hrs last night. Then I left it undocked for about half day. As I was running out to a cafeteria, I just docked the Pad (which was in standby state), hop in the car, and now, when I open the pad, the dock's battery is completely ran out, 0%. My dock S/N is B80. Has anyone countered the same problem? What is happening with it? Thanks.

I believe that there are apps in the Market that will allow you calibrate your sensors.... Take a look - let me know if you can't find anything...

I've had some issues lately with the newer firmwares where the tablet refuses to go into deep sleep until it's been rebooted, especially if you leave the browser with tabs open for an extended period of time.
Been using CPU Spy to keep track of it. It doesn't really seem to be related to any specific apps (ran it this way for a week after a full wipe and not installing anything new on both stock and Prime 1.8.4) in that even with a nearly blank slate it will still do this. Haven't figured out why yet but a reboot seems to temporarily fix it.

I have tried to find but it seems there is no apps that can deal with dock battery calibration. Could you help to post the link? Thanks.
What's weirder now is that I undock the pad, charge the dock with stock power cable/adapter, after 2.5 hrs, the dock battery is still empty, red light keeps blinking. Is it a sign that my dock is malfunction?

Well, I found some suggestions in the link below, tried "Cold reboot" and the problem seemed solved, at least for now

Sounds like the issue you have is more to do with the dock not charging over any excessive drain.
Have you tried charging it connected to the tablet see if it fares any better? Otherwise if its still not charging you may want to RMA the dock.

your problem is no problem you can solve. when the dock is connected, the tablet is using the dock to charge its own battery. once the docks battery is depleted, the tablet will be at 100% still. you should still be able to use the dock till the tablets battery dies as well, but with a blinking dock light

so if you're battery is depleted in the dock does the battery need to be replaced? Is there really no other option?
My keyboard and mouse still work fine the dock just won't charge. The orange light blinks and the dock leaches power off the tablet.
I have a bit of electronics experience and I've tried every reset you can do to the tablet with the dock connected and tried different chargers.
The problem seems to be in the port, the computer doesn't recognize is as a USB connection, so it's not even getting power from there. I read somewhere there is an internal switch that causes the battery to not charge. I flipped the switch with the tablet inserted, while charging and not charging and a bunch of different ways and that didn't help it still won't charge. Do I just need to replace the whole battery?

Hello,
Recently i purchase a dock for asus eee pad. About 10 charge and decharge gone with dock and i still feel this dock only get an 4 hours only of work with wifi. And with the battery i get al least 6. Can someone tell about his experience.... and opinion about this issue.
.its possible that when the transformer is docked he need more battery? Even there is no usb connected? Just the keybord and touchpad is waste more battery....

Typical is 8-9 hours with the tablet battery and a bonus of ~6 hours with the dock.

From the asus website, "The docking station also extends the Transformer’s 9.5 hours* of battery life up to 16 hours*, so users can use it all day for work and play."
The tablet is UP to 9.5 hours
The dock is UP to 6.5
Things live cpu intensive games, and screen at max brightness obviously drain the battery faster. I think I read somewhere that the battery life is based on the asus transformer playing a video at 60% brightness with wifi off.

Dock battery drain over night,...

I charged dock alone until green led showed, docked tablet (tablet has around 40% battery), closed lid and left overnight.
I woke up, tablet was off, and dock battery was 0%, tablet still has around 40% battery.
This is 3th time it happened while tablet was docked.
Any idea what should I do to find out what is causing it?

Are you on Android ICS? This was a common problem with the dock and the tab not being able to deep sleep. If you have a rooted tab try a new ROM. I had battery issues with the all the ICS variants (Early) and finally settled on the CM9 w/o out cornerstone as a daily ROM.

I am on ricardos CM9s, now its Megatron and hopefully ill not have this problem.

I remember reading a post about this before but can't bloody well find it
With my tablet docked, they keyboard battery is draining much faster than my tablet resulting in a useless dock fairly quickly i.e. 0% in dock vs 80% in tablet. This seems quite a gap - I'm running stock, not rooted. Is there anything I can do to improve this? I don't remember the charge gap being so vast in my first TF700.
Any advice/suggestions are most welcome.

Been discussed before. Dock still operates at 0%, no need to keep a charge in there. It acts as the sacrificial battery, making the tablet use that power first, so if you so choose, you can continue using the tablet w/o dock or with dock and get the maximum battery life both ways.

i recently bought the dock and i also find the battery drain rather strange. i always turn off wifi over night and the battery of the tablet usually stays exactly the same, e.g. if i fully load the tablet before going to bed, i have like 99% in the morning without any drain.
yesterday i went to bed with dock 80% and tablet 85% and wifi off. today i find the dock left with only 40% and the tablet with 82%? is this normal? i guess i have to take them apart all the time over night otherwise it just drains too much

Definitely is not normal - I leave mine docked overnight with wifi *on* and I only get a percentage or two drain...
To start with, 'd look (with CPU Spy) to make sure you tablet is deep-sleeping properly.

That's odd. Maybe some process kept running overnight.
Check that the following are set:
- GPS to OFF
- IPS+ OFF (set it to IPS mode. + drains 10% or some overnight, even when off.)
- Mode to Power Saving!
- Shut down all active processes (taskmanager has this convenient one click clean.)
- Check that media players have shut down properly in the Settings/Apps/Running apps menu. Also make sure they're not still cached (VLC tends to do that...)

I think that this is normal behavior. I notice that after using the device for a while, when I shut it off the dock battery actually charges the tablet battery. The charge light on the tablet even indicates that this is the case. I believe that is by design.

The charge light is indicating the tablet is (primarily) running off the dock battery. EDIT: although this is in essence a correct statement, I have paid more attention to it and noticed the dock does indeed charge the tablet (when not in use) -- it's a few percents, but nonetheless, it charges. Mea culpa..
The capacity of the tablet and dock batteries is different, so discharging under load will differ as well. I guess the behavior you are seeing is by design, and, to some extent preferable to the situation I have had since the beginning: my tablet depletes faster than the dock, at least initially, and that was what most of the early adopters were seeing, as well. This of course led to some discussion.
The behavior we noticed seemed somewhat counterintuitive, since it meant we would have less battery capacity on the tablet if we would choose to undock it -- as opposed to your situation, where you have as much battery capacity left on the tablet as possible when you choose to 'travel light'. I'd prefer it that way. ; )
So, the dock depleting significantly faster is nothing unusual nor anything to worry about. I do have to concede, though, that my battery drain is far less than some in here report -- it has been going for three and a half days with moderate use now. (That's OK, I guess, given the fact that I currently am in nightshifts and do not have to time to tinker as much. Even when I *am* tinkering, though, the batteries routinely carry me over two days, easily.)

My dock and tablet have weird battery usage.
So my problem is really weird I think, but maybe you guys can confirm or offer any fixes. I have tried charging the tablet and dock assembled through the dock port and gotten both batteries to 100%, but then while docked, the tablet's battery drains faster and the dock;s remains at 100%. As the tablet's battery gets to around 70%, the dock's will start to deplete but very slowly. The dock will only go to 70%, and the tablet will drain completely to 1% and then shut off even though the dock still has 70%. I then undocked the tablet and just charged the tablet back to 100% without doing any charging to the dock. After docking the tablet, it shows the tablet at 100% and then the dock at 70%. This time the tablet drains to 1% and then shuts off with the dock still at 50%. What's going on here or is it normal or is there a setting that I'm missing? I thought the dock was supposed to extend the tablet's battery life time??
