Anyone a sensation owner here who came from the G2X? Just wondering thoughts and opinions... I'm currently a G2X owner and want to switch back to a HTC device. From here on out I will probably own HTC ... as long as their drivers are open source they will have the most support from the community it would seem...
It's either the sensation or a 4g slide....

depends on what u like. sensation and mt4G slide are the same specs. their like brothers. same everything. just the looks and keyboard are differences. and mytouch 4g has better camera by a little.

I had the G2x and now have the Sensation. Its a way better phone by 125%. Only thing, currently, that's a real let down is that an AOSP build is still not available. Sucks because I was a huge MIUI user and fan.

I had a g2x before I got my Sensation and it was alright. I just couldn't understand how the two phone could have almost the same size shell but the g2x screen was so much smaller. It has alot of wasted space. Plus u have a thing for HTC phones. But if you really like AOSP then go for it.

If youre lucky, youll fing one without random reboots and unnoticeable screen bleeding then youll have a blazing fast phone, cause they are wth a custom Rom.
I have my g2x on the market now its a great phone and I have no problems I just like the peace of mind from htc and the bigger screen of the sensation

I have the sensation and I like it, I think it's better Than the G2x overall. However I tried the g2x in a tmobile store a few days ago while I was paying my bill, and I must say that the phone speed is ridiculously fast. Anybody who really wants a fast phone should get the g2x. Apps open sooooooo fast it's not even funny. I was blown away personally.

What are the up and downs and the current roms that are on the speedy title. (I like fast roms) what's the latest update and build quality etc...that's it. Thanks and pleassee reply quickly

SK4G is unsupported both by devs and Samsung. Aren't you guys still stuck with Froyo or something? Either way even if you get GB you'll never see anything past GB unless you get CM9, which is highly unlikely.
MT4G has awesome Sense ROM's, a solid MIUI ROM, and a very stable CM7 ROM with CM9 looking within weeks.

I actually traded my sk4g for a Mytouch and its completely with it. Yes a keyboard its nice but there's no development, and the Mytouch has a bigger screen and typing/swyping is a lot easier that on the sidekick screen.

Getting a Mytouch 4G for a Sidekick 4G is like getting an Audi for Kia (I don't specifically have anything against Kia, but I doubt anyone will argue that a Kia is a better car than an Audi). Don't ask questions. TRADE! Trade and run before your friend realizes their mistake.
I played with a Sidekick 4G for a few minutes and it was a joke. Minus a physical keyboard a Mytouch 4G is better in every way.

its all personal preference, i like sense, all the new sense 3.5 builds are awesome. just flash em all till you find one you like.
Just got the sensation to replace my LG G2x and first thing on the list of things to do is ROOT! I plan on following the stickie on this forum to do it so wish me luck! I switched from Verizon using a thunderbolt so I feel right back at home with this phone!

yeah its a lot lighter than the Thunderbolt but its the same phone! I just love it! I haven't rooted yet and am freaking out. I always feel so overwhelmed when i look at the whole step by step process because i look at the whole picture instead of the little steps....AHHHHH

I run Android Revolution HD v 4.1.x
Sense 3.5 interface - If for no other reason, Root so you get Sense 3.5.
Cant get sense 3.5 on Sensation without Root (yet).
In my opinion, 3.5 is a big step up from v3.

Just got myself a sensation as well. Coming from a line of samsungs, most recently the sgs4g. Man there are so many options with this phone as compared to the sgs4g.

was really upset with stock sensation XE.
But ARHD ROM (Cool), Amaze Cam Mod, Bricked kernel 1.5r1 beta 1(fixed 3D & 2D issues and no freeze cam after applying Camfix) and ARHD Radio....
It's A Superior Master Piece!!!!
I don't mind stock I just loved my titanium back up and can't have it unless I'm rooted. Still haven't done it yet....still overwhelmed lol

I love amaze cam. And also titanium backup and Mybackup are reasons to root. i couldnt imagine a phone without my backups
over the past few onths i have gone from the mt4g to the sidekick 4g, to the g2x, to the nexus s. what i have learned is that no matter how nice a phone looks it will never beat an htc. the only reason i would ever leave this phone again is for the amaze or sensation.
htc's sense is by far the best ui there is and there is not a single app that can even come close to replicating it. trust me if you get rid of it you will regret it!!

is the nexus s that bad ? i REALLY wanted that phone , now i have hopes on getting a galaxy nexus. but i think one upgrade i will die for , is probally for the mytouch 4G slide aka the doubleshot , that phone is amazing.

if you ask me, i say yes. but, i'm pretty biased toward samsuck products, so i guess my opinions aren't very accurate. though, i DO have to admit, the Galaxy Nexus is pretty nice

Im planning to get windows phone when i bored with mt4g. The only thing i love from sense is its quality of its software. Best GUI ever on android phone. But ithink metro ui is thebest gui ever found on a phone.

samsung makes some pretty cool phones but i dont need to be near a computer to flash a rom with my HTC. Thats what will keep me an HTC customer. Motorola and Samsung need to get their act together when it comes to root access.
In all fairness, the MyTouch 4G is terrible... until you root it and put a new rom on.

I'd agree with that. The hardware specs allow it to run any custom ROM extremely well, but the stock "mySense" ROM leaves a lot to be desired.

What was so good about it? I know the processor is better but what's so good about that phone?
From what I've seen I dont like the GUI on that phone

It depends on what you want in a phone. Since I don't really consider myself a power user, the MT4G has been close to perfect for me in terms of having fairly high-end hardware (remember, the majority of mainstream phones out there aren't very good even though we consider 1GHz and WVGA to be bare minimum requirements) at an acceptable price point.
What matters most to me is an active developer community because there was no way in hell regardless of what phone I got that I was going to keep the stock ROM. With all this Carrier IQ crap going on now, I had the right mindset all along and also got lucky that the Virtuous team removes Carrier IQ from their ROMs, which is good because I do like the Sense UI. However, I won't call myself an HTC fan. I'm only loyal to a product that works as I expect or want it to work, and I'm not that impressed with what I'm reading about HTC's newest phones. In addition, the Amaze reportedly has Carrier IQ. Fine and easy for people here to remove it, but not for the regular smartphone user.
If you told me to recommend a current new phone on the market compatible with T-Mobile's network for the non-rooter/flasher, I would recommend the Galaxy Nexus for AOSP's lack of spyware, even if that means having to wait at least another week for it in the US.

I loved my mytouch since day one. in my opinion I don't think its the phone jus more of the software. Sense phones period are the best. Unlike asop, you have the best of both worlds (when rooted that is).

I agree 100%. I went from a mytouch 3G 1.2 to a Galaxy S 4G and even though the Galaxy was much faster and smoother compared to the Mytouch 3G, it was difficult to root and the aftermarket ROMs for it are basically variations of the same stock TouchWiz rom. I found myself longing for my clunky old mytouch 3G.
I agree with the OP that I will never go with anything but an HTC phone from this point forward.
The funny thing about it is that Android advocates are always talking about specs and iPhone people are always harping on user experience because their phones are generally out-speced by the latest Android phones. I hate to say it but the MT4G sort of proves the Apple people right. Other phones that were released at the same time as the MT4G had better specs and even better testing scores but I can say from first hand experience that the MyTouch out performs most of them for everyday use, even with the stock rom installed.
I was wondering if there is going to be a cm9 for the mt4g and if there is please vote this phone is a wonderful piece of machinery.

That's entirely up to whom ever wants to port it over or if it will be officially supported by the CM crew. They have been really good about supporting the MyTouch 4G for a long time now so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an official release for us over here.

I would definitely love to see cm9. This phone has surprisingly lasted me since its release date. I'm switching over to the amaze but I can't forsee my self ever getting rid of this phone.

I've had the mytouch for over a year and it's been great, such an awesome phone and I would love to see it with cm9
Thats whats bothering me the phone has potential any rom any type of 3d acceleration it handles flawlessly sence roms cm roms miui roms all work without a problem. Dev-feb is already working on a ics rom tried it the phone handled it without a problem forget the bugs.
