Database Info

G2 now has full root!!!

The G2 has been rooted (full)! Does this mean full root on Mytouch 4 Gizz? I believe they both had the same nan lock. I'm looking foward to custom roms and modifications, Sence Rom and cyanogen will make this phone much better. Any Devs working on the mytouch that I can follow?

Actually that's something I noticed too, all the work with modules, overlooking , etc. Has been for the G2 I may regret my decision to switch over to the mt4g I was spoiled with all the attention the g1 got.

Yeh that bums me I would really like to see a overclocked kernel on this baby. The phones processor is ready hella fast I hope cyanogen and other devs add support to this phone

The G2 has been out longer, and it was expected to get more attention then this one overall.
Hopefully the process will work on this one also after some developers here are guided by the G2 method (assuming it is a similar scheme on both devices).

Kmobs (teamdouch) ordered the phone last week. We'll be fine.
Update, he just posted in another thread here that he'll have it in a few hours

Well, ill be soon to retire my Mytouch 4G since i got a G2x and my friend is buying it off of me, to be honest the MyTouch provided the best experience on a phone i had. It actually had the first rom i ever was truly satisfied with and didnt want to change. It was a nice sleek, easy to use phone. I wish all of you, the developers, and every one else the best of luck on this forum section! I really hope the developers on here, some of the best ive seen to be honest, make an amazing ICS rom and port it to the MyTouch, i know you developers can do it :3!

i got it off of craigslist for 200

Traded my MT4G for a G2x as well. I like it better.
So far the G2x has better build quality, better screen, external speakers are wayyyy better, and the Tegra proc is infinitely better than the Snap. Annoyed me when my MT4G would get hot after just some light web browsing. The G2x never gets hot. Plus, games are way smoother on this thing.
Overall, I loved my MT4G, and always will. But the G2x is a decent upgrade. Especially since you got it cheap.

Its got it under the hood. Yet to unleash the power cause CM is yet to become "stable"
Devs are looking into the device but not a lot going on at the moment. I hope TJD decides to come help us out because we have NO kernels! I want this puppy overclocked!!!!

I thought I'd love the Sensation as well. But when I looked mat my friends it had the same let downs as the MT4G. Same terrible speaker and had dust under the screen. I don't know what it is about HTC and having bad quality on their tmobile phones.

No, no space on n1. G2x i dont like at all. Mine freezes all the time, this is the second one too. Glacier is where ill stay.

Are you the one trading the N1 for the G2x? Then yes that's a steal. As long as you get one with no problems of course.

Should I swap SGS4G for G2X or Sensation 4G?

It's been a tough haul for me with Tmobile/Samsung Galaxy phones. I started with a Vibrant with its GPS problems. After two T-mobile Vibrant swap outs and various software updates that accomplished little, they swapped for a SGS4G.
The SGS4G was no better on GPS and T-mobile wouldn't swap to anything else.
I never had a data contract, just used wifi for data. Last week I jumped on the $30 unlimited data prepaid plan. Well it turns out my SGS4G won't get cell data, not on Froyo not on Gingerbread.
So T-mobile now offers me a swap for another SGS4G or a LG-G2X or a HTC Sensation 4G. I'm posting here in case anyone with SGS4G experience also has some with the other phones.
It seems to me that its obvious I should switch. Both the LG and HTC are dual core and the Samsung is not. HTC has already committed to ICS on it, and LG has at least said the no ICS for G2X rumor has no basis. We all know Samsung is incredibly slow at updates, and their certainly is skepticism in this forum that they will ever have ICS for the SGS4G.
As to which to switch to, I'm not sure. The ICS commitment by HTC is certainly a plus. After my experience with Samsung my main issues are:
-- A well working GPS
-- Timely software updates
-- A potent hacking community
Any comments to help me decide?

I'd say get the sensation, i would if i ever got the chance. This phone is a great phone, don't get me wrong, but i just like the sensation. Never had an lg so i have no clue what that phone brings. I got this phone not knowing about XDA and modding. Once i found out about those, i kinda regretted getting this phone, but now things are better since we have official gingerbread and a great community that's here to help. I'm getting off topic now, so to answer your question, I'd say the sensation. OR you can stick with this phone and see what the future brings.

I definitely agree. Sensations commitment to ICS is good enough for me but the hardware facts just beat out the sgs 4g. I do like the sgs 4g screen and resolution tho. But other than that, get sensation. My mom (I'm only 17 so i haven't moved out ) has it and I've been able to play with it. Hands down just a better phone. And i regret getting the phone too. This is my first android and did me soooo much justice, but for Modding and rooting it just isn't exactly the best. Sensation all the way. Hope I helped

Samsung has neglected this phone in terms of updates. The Sensation is great if you want ICS, if that's not the biggest deal to you I'd get the Samsung Galaxy SII, as Samsung phones are well built, but with any Samsung phone don't expect an update within any timely manner.

I would get anything.g that could run CM. wink.

G2X since it initially has a better battery because of AOSP and it always will get any CM before Sensation.
I want a swap sooo bad.

Get a sensation and sell it and youll be able to buy the sgs4g or the g2x and have extra cash.

oh and get the sensation. Even though I think you already knew that before you posted this thread just to make all of us jelous

I owned a g2x and it was bad. Very very bad. It was also the first batch of them. I hear they fixed a lot of the issues. I own a sgs4g and a sensation. The sensation has more options Rom and kernel wise. Speed wise my sgs4g with all its mods is just as fast. The sgs4g seems to have faster data speeds. The screen on the sgs4g is better. If custom roms and mods are what your after get the sensation. Performance wise a properly set up sgs4g may have a slight edge do to data speed. The sensation is confirmed to be getting ics as well a.d they are working on a port as well. Hope that helps.

I'm kicking myself. After they offered me the Sensation or G2X, I waited a week to make a choice and get past Thanksgiving. When I called back their database had changed and would only offer another SGS4G.
Apparently the database changes from time to time based on factors I can only guess. They said that at the moment for a Vibrant they had multiple choices.

That sucks. Big time.

Mannnnn, that sucks. I would have jumped on the Sensation or G2x the second they asked me.
The SGS4G is good for what it is, but it's been highly gimped on the dev side and has no CM love.

That's entirely up to whom ever wants to port it over or if it will be officially supported by the CM crew. They have been really good about supporting the MyTouch 4G for a long time now so I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't an official release for us over here.

Mytouch
I've had the mytouch for over a year and it's been great, such an awesome phone and I would love to see it with cm9

Thats whats bothering me the phone has potential any rom any type of 3d acceleration it handles flawlessly sence roms cm roms miui roms all work without a problem. Dev-feb is already working on a ics rom tried it the phone handled it without a problem forget the bugs.

any devs going to the Amaze 4g?

so im finally making the switch to a duel core phone, and decided to go with the HTC amaze 4g. i like samsung but there phones seem so flimsy to me, touchwiz is awful and m experience with the galaxy s was a weird one. anyways...i was just wondering if any of our favorite devs are moving/planning on moving or deving on the amaze. I have loved the development on this phone and have grown fond of the work of certain devs, (faux123, team royal, and TDJ). after seeing that tdj moved to the SGS2, it almost made me want to throw my amaze on craigslist, although i saw Faux wich made me happy ha. anyways i hope i see development on that phone as good as the mt4g was/has been.

Faux123 has an amaze but there is no s-off so no roms for s-on devices. Tdj and royalknight aka darkside dev team went to the sgs2. Your best bet is the amaze if you don't mind waiting for s-off

Not true. For the amaze you don't need s-off. All you need is an unlocked bootloader. I bought my girl the amaze because her mt4g broke. Unfortunately it came s-on (some people will be lucky enough and have s-off already when when receiving their amaze) so the same week I bought her the phone, I unlocked the bootloader. Its almost the same as s-off. I was able to grant her permroot and she can even flash custom roms and kernels. I already debloated her amaze and added a custom battery, tether and have setcpu running on it to get better battery life.
At this moment I'm researching on which custom rom is best for her so I can flash.
So if you lurk the amaze forum you'll see they have a few selection on custom roms, kernels and mods.

I saw different pics of the ville and don't know which ones are the actual pics for it. One of them looked a lot like the galaxy nexus and the other one just looked like crap.
And how did you guys find out about this phone? This is the first time i've heard of it.

Yea.I bought my amaze off contract so when my contract is up for renewal ill sell the amaze and get the next best thing in Q4 of this year...that's when all the best stuff comes out anyways

Just got the amaze today.basically a larger mytouch4g.Although it has a higher screen resolution,there isn't that great a difference from the mytouch.the camera is better no doubt.actually,its quite good for a camera.build is solid,yet remains light to the touch.
Sense 3.0 is so much smoother than any sense rom.
its abeautiful phone.
Recently got and unlocked a Sammy infuse.it has a nice Tom selection,which are high quality roms (Zeus) thanks dman,my daughter loves it.
I thought I'd prefer the amaze,but provably should have tried the sgs2.
Amaze is very good though!
Edit:yeah,that extra tenth of an inch on the Samsung phones makes a difference.atleast with the Zeus rom ,the infuse is kickass and so much smoother than any mytouch rom. Yet I made my choice.
Not dissatisfied,but miss that butter from the Sammy.

Specs are pretty damn good, but.. the freaking phone is 6.69mm thin. The RAZR isn't even that thin.

Huawei is actually pretty good, aside from their low end piece of **** phones they originally released (Their original Ascend didn't even have a freaking GPU -_-).
