TITLE IS WONG IT IS FOR THE INFUSED - I was flashing a I1900 rom, Amestris. I did a full wipe and a wipe of delvik started to flash the rom and during the flash the screen went black. When I try to start it back up if I hold the power and the vol up/dn the samsung screen comes up but just for a split sec and then goes back off with almost a tv animation?. I cannot get to either download or recovery at this point and of course not with adb either. acts like a dead battery? but the battery was fully charged. When plugged into the charger the charging emblem does not come on either?
Any help out there?

I had the fresh evo rom and went I switched to the cyanogenmod 7 rom (the latest one) I did a backup of my old rom and everything but when I installed it I didn't wipe the cache and data, and phone is stuck on the cyanogen loading screen...tryed taking out the battery and turning it back on multiple times but it just won't get past the loading screen the arrow keeps going around in circles... when I try to hold down the power and up volume key my phone just vibrates 3 times and nothing happens, is there any other way to fix my phone or factory restart it or anything please I'm in much need of help guys
im pretty sure you need to wipe the cache and data since your switching from a sense to asop rom. thats what caused me to have a boot loop when I switched. try popping the battery out and putting it back in. hold the vol down button and power on and restore to your nandroid backup you made, if you try flashing cyanogenmod again, be sure to wipe data and cache

I hope you've figured it out by now, but if not, you need to hold power and Vol Down to enter bootloader, Power and vol Up won't do it.
But none the less this is the EVO shift forum not EVO

Also do you have CWM 3 (hint:has the orange on black text)? Because you can't flash Cyanogenmod 7 on CWM 2.x as it doesn't support formatting partitions in Ext4

Yes, that is exactly what I did. My problem was that I could not get to download. Thus I could not acomplish this. All is good now. I got download, flashed to stock and back to my daily. I just do not know how it stopped in the middle of a flash and shut down? I will try to duplicate it later.
TV screen? Did it maybe look like a "Phone-to-PC" screen?
That's the "You're not getting anywhere until you flash something" variant of download mode, but it IS download (Odin/Heimdall) mode.
Or you may have flashed a ROM that had an autoreboot in its script so it's a bad kernel - so enter download mode and Odin away. You might get away with just Odin/Heimdalling a Hellraiser-compatible kernel to get you to CWM.
To enter download mode:
Pull and reinsert battery
Hold VolUp/VolDn (but NOT power)
Plug in the USB cable to the phone when it's connected to a PC

No it was not that screen.
It looked like the screen off animation of some roms where it looks like an old TV. I have seen lots of soft bricks but this was new. As soon as the samsung screen came up it instantly went off. Very hard time getting into download also. It was also the firt time I ever had a phone stop in the middle of a flash, on it's own and become soft bricked. I have been back on Dario's, Darky's and now Infused since and all is good. Just not sure how it happened. I plan to try to duplicate just to find the real cause and warn others. Unless it was just a odd fluke of sorts...

Phone rooted?
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
yes its ROOTED
1) Remove battery
2) reinsert battery
3) hold vol down while pressing power button, release power button
4) reboot into clockwork recovery, and flash a new ROM like the latest CM7 nightly after wiping data/factory reset.
Try that.

Well I would say plug your phone to the pc for charge phone is off. Hold power and.volume down at the same time, for a few seconds and let go of power and still hold vol down it boot into hboot then select recovery mode and once you do so go to advance or mount for USB that will allow u to get to the sd card to add a Rom and flash

Are you trying to update from settings>about>software update?
Or take a look at this I used it for my friends to unroot and go back to stock out the box.

I am rooted and unlocked. I was running CM10 and tried to flash Lean Kernel on it (I have never tried to flash a different kernel so I have a feeling this is where I went wrong). After flashing the new Kernel, the Samsung Galaxy SIII boot logo would appear, then go away and leave the hardware keys lit up. Now I can't get any activity out of my phone other than when I pull my battery and put it back in. When I put the battery back in the phone vibrates, the red LED comes on, and I get a battery logo with a loading circle then the screen goes black. I have tried booting into download and the bootloader but gotten nothing. I have never been able to boot into bootloader using the power and volume down, I've always had to go to the restart menu. My battery was fairly low (about 10%) when I tried flashing the kernel. Is there any way to fix this?
I have a CWM backup as well as TiBu and Nova Launcher backups. Please help!

To boot into bootloader using the power + volume down + Home button.
Volume Up + Home + PWR = recovery
Volume Down + Home + PWR = download
Push and HOLD each button in the above sequence.
I think Lean Kernel is for ICS/TWiz only.
Get into recovery and restore your backup ...

Ok, so I've tried booting into both modes and it's not working. I'm thinking that in the process of my phone not working that the battery died... If the kernel is bad then the phone won't charge, correct? It's been a while since I've had my battery completely dead, is the battery with the loading symbol in it the indication that the battery is dead?

Why don't you plug in and let it charge for 3 hrs and try the process again?

I have it on a charger right now and have had it there for about an hour with no success. I'll let it sit for a while and try the process again in the morning. If this doesn't work, are there other options??
Edit: If I get a new phone, will restoring using the CWM backup restore my app data and such?

I would let it charge to full, then pull the battery, let it sit for a few hrs the give it another try. You have to call Verizon service for replacement if you can't get into recovery or download mode, probably the best way.

Ok, I'll let it charge while I sleep then try in the morning. Luckily I have the Best Buy protection plan so I can get a new (or refurbished) phone for free. Will restoring the CWM backup restore everything (app data, etc)? I'm assuming I'll need to root, unlock, and flash CWM onto the new phone.
Thanks for the help.
good luck
