i got my inspire 4g unlocked and working - finally! and i know it doesnt have 3G cuz its unlocked. but i want to make sure its not trying to connect to a 3G network and hence, drain my battery. is there a way to check that its not trying to capture a 3G connection?
also, how cna i check the web using 2G?
What network are you on? and just go to the browser and surf the net.

trapzz I told you in a previous post actually how to do it. It is the only way I know to stay on 2G and not use 3g. Remember the code *#*#4636#*#* in your phone dialer, then select "phone information" then set "Set preferred network type" to "GSM only".
You should be posting Questions in the Questions and Answers section and not the General section. If you don't start posting correctly the admin will stop you from posting at all. Just trying to give you a friendly warning.

i dont have a handbook in front of me telling me EXACTLY where to post my question on the forum. i post my question in the most relevant place possible to the best of my judgement. i appreciate the warning, but seriously, this is the 10th time i have been told to post in the right section. and thats what i've been doing. i really dont understand why i cant post this question in this section. next time before i post a qestion, i'll ask you or someone else where i should place my question. this is really getting ridiculous.

You have been warned by plenty of people. I wont argue with you but will say you don't need handbook to tell you where to post. Its pretty easy to tell. The section named inspire Q & A should be all the direction you need.

Greetings all,
Wondering if anybody have ran into a way to change provisioning , im currently on T-Mobile and would love to switch it to AT&T. Just havent seen anyone bring this up in the forums.
Thanks in advance!!!!
Apologize, posting in proper forum location.
I'm sorry but i fail to notice any link between android development and switching carriers...
I'm sorry but i fail to notice any link between having attitude and helping other members in this forum ... regardless of whether they've posted a question in the wrong forum...

Call T-Mobile and request a sim unlock code, takes 1 to 2 weeks to get it emailed to you.. You will not be able to have 3g working on ATT wireless. They have different frequency bands, but it will do edge.
Hope this clears this thread up and it can now be moved or closed!
BTW try posting in general for these types of ? or just a quick "google"
Hey i want to change my phones ip:address when its on 3g an my wifi ip:address too an were do i get the ip address from to replace what ever i have now thanks
wrong section dude...
Theres an epic q and a section for uhh.. Qs post there

here's what I find amazing. Yes, this is the wrong section to post this in... but in stead of answering the question, all people do is say wrong section, which doesn't help at all.
if the question was just answered, the thread would be moved by a mod or buried. I know this is bumping which I'm sorry for. Just noting to let the mods do the modding
THANKS
Ok thank u very much

On 3g: can't do it.
On wifi: go into router config dhcp section add an entry for MAC address of the phone's wifi adapter into the static address table. Then the router will always hand it the same ip when it associates to it.
There. Question answered. Next mod to see this can move to q and a. For all the non mods if you don't know the answer to a question don't bump the thread by saying wrong section. Just go about your merry way and pretend it doesn't exist. It will disappear on its own if you ignore it. You are not mods and saying "wrong thread dude" is worse than posting to the wrong thread.

P.s this is a QUESTION for those who don't know !
If it were an answer it would be in development
You need a guinea pig? Why don't you give it a try and post feedback, seeing as this is your thread and you didn't put a [Q] in the topic.
Um actually no. was seeing if any one has messed with it before I did.plan on trying after I get off work..oh p.s this is in the q and a section, thought it was simple enough to figure out it was a question ?

^ Insulting me now?
If yes, maybe I should've been more rude and not use smileys? If not, then maybe you want to learn how to reply in a way that doesn't appear as an insult....
And again, I thought this thread had an answer to the throttling.. I showed the thread title to another person and they said "did he figure out how to fix it?".
I'd imagine I'm not the only one that thought this thread had a fix.
Even if there was some1 out there who removed throttling they wont tell.. for what so T-Mobile can patch it... And it's network controlled
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
lol @ what this thread turned out
edit: read the link in OP seems it doesnt work after a couple months ago throttling is in full swing in 95% of areas, network side
i read a thread here that said you cant get the htc inspire 4g on boost mobile becuz of different networks. but the inspire 4g and boost mobile are both cdma capable. so why cant i use the inspire on boost if theyre both cdma?

The Inspire is not CDMA compatible. It has WCDMA for data and thats it. Also CDMA and GSM use different Tech for their signals. Please do a little research before opening new threads as I have seen you open a few that with questions that could have been answered by doing a google search
Wow, you must have the rarest Inspire/Desire HD in the world if yours has CDMA. Please do your research, the Inspire is GSM, the Boost is CDMA (or if it has a SIM, it would be iDEN).
Short answer, NO, you cannot use an Inspire on Boost Mobile's network.

In which way was I mocking? And now you're implying that because I replied to your question that was not to my "standards" I am unintelligent? Look here, this is the XDA forums, in which the "forums" mean an online public community. If you didn't want your effing question answered by the general public, which I am part of, why post it publicly? Secondly, like it was stated above, a simple Google search would have answered your question. Thirdly, don't you think this would have been better asked in the original thread that you mentioned instead of cluttering up our boards? Fourthly, you could have as easily contacted Boost Mobile support with your question as a opposed to "risking" getting answers from the community that is only trying to help you figure this out.
Good day sir/madam.

dont sweat it. anything you say to help Trapzz ends in him/her thinking that EVERYTHING you say is an insult.
apparently its because 'us americans' assume that people from another country (of which origin, Trapzz has never shared with us) would think similar to us.
sometimes there appears to be a language/culture barrier when dealing with Trapzz, other times, you would swear they are just trolling....
the best way to deal with Trapzz is ignore every thread they put up, because trust me, they will put up a ton of them for the same subject.
if anything i have said here is offensive or insulting to you Trapzz, you seriously need to step away from the keyboard and wake up.
By the way Trapzz, why do you insist on posting QUESTIONS in the GENERAL section?

Att Sims due to the fact that it had a Sims card slot.... If that was the case and boost had a Sims card just like verzion with the storm then Yes why not

Well you now know that trapzz is indeed from the USA. I believe the T-mobile and Boost Mobile gives it away. I just want to know with all the strict actions that the mods have put on the forum lately why this user is not banned. He/she violates just about EVERY rule out there for posting. Zelendel if you have any power left, please get rid of this joker. He/she is in a world of their own and cannot be helped or made to understand.
Alllllllllllrighty then.
@ the OP....
Please search before posting as you do seem to have a habit of creating threads for questions that could have been answered easily or have in fact, already been answered.
Also, try not to take it personally when someone points this out, or points out that you have posted in the wrong section.
One of the comments above that you have directed towards another user is so far out of line I cant quite get my head around it.
I dont know what exactly gives you the impression that you are in any position to suggest that someone has a personality disorder or is a racist but let me just make something perfectly clear for you.
You ARE NOT, in any way, entitled to cast such aspersions. This is exactly the kind of behaviour that WILL NOT be tolerated around here.
Please give a great deal more consideration to the content of your future posts or you will very quickly find yourself unable to post anything at all.

how to make signature in my post?

This question is so dumb, no one should answer but give clues.
Dude, most apps have an option area, use it and you'll find it. (Settings) .
If you don't know how to find settings. Go into town and trade your phone for a windows phone.
If ur on a computer go to quick links then edit sig

Anyway, go here...

and look for "Edit Signature" in the left menu. You may not have it yet as I think it only appears after a certain number of posts (maybe 8-10). Not sure about that as it's been a while
