[Q] anyone knows where the Sense Notepadd application stores the data? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Hi there,
I'm trying to write a Tomboy to the default notes program converter but i'm a bit stuck.
My first attempt failed. I tried to find out what format the app uses for exports and then try to replicate it. It seems some kind of zipped XML. I can extract the data but i can't create a new file that it accepts at import.
So my next guess was that it uses a sqlite database but i can't find it. Anyone has some clues?
Regards,
Rob

This belongs in the Q and A section or General Section. This has zero to do with android development.

I have one clue...STOP POSTING QUESTIONS IN THE DEVELOPMENT SECTION.

Well excuse me. I'm developing a converter that converts tomboy notes to the default notes format. And because i'm developing something i assumed it should belong in the development section. But i guess i'm wrong. And thanks for pointing it out three times.

What everyone said, and:
/data/data/com.marigold.android.notes/databases/notes

Im sorry if this comes across rude, as i dont mean it to be. This is meant to be in general/q&a, and only things that belong in developement are developers sharing their work. This is things like ROMS and Kernels etc. Apps should go in the Theme and Apps section (if this has one, the desire z does)

For Devs and Themers: New XDA forum added!

I humbly suggest that all Devs who are Cooking ROMS and/or making software that is NOT device specific or are for multiple devices move their discussions/threads to the following forums:
XDA Android Software Development
Then we can allow much of the clutter on the Dream forum for just Dream specific software/ROMS, etc.
This forum, since it was the first on this site, is being used by a majority of devs (and, others) to develop/discuss many issues/items NOT specific to the HTC Dream.
I would believe that anyone who created a thread and wished it to be moved could have it done so by making a request to a moderator.
Let me know what you think.
ALSO, there is a general xda forum now for Android Themes:
XDA Android Themes
And, one for Applications and Games:
XDA Applications and Games
should clean things up considerably -- just have more sections to watch
Very, very good. I would hope a lot of threads get moved over there from the Magic/Hero/Dream forums to help seed the place a bit more. A vast majority of the Apps in the Dream Applications section, for example, could be moved over there...
yay, another forum to keep track of! (-_-)....
Wow...someone actually listened to our suggestions, and took action? I'm amazed!

Depends on your purpose for being here. I really would prefer just to check this one for new ROMS, check the Dream Theme forum for new themes...
Then go to the general ones for everything else.
Just makes it easier to search for information! I hate having to troll through ALL the posts here to look for the general Android software development threads!!!
Can we have a dedicated development section for the Cliq, even though its a non HTC device? I mean I know XDA was started specifically for HTC phones. But isn't it time XDA expands and matures?
XDA-Developers and non HTC devices
thefoss has an *excellent* point which has been going around my head in the past couple of days. With the imminent arrival (and my imminent purchase ) of at least two quite interesting Android devices, made by companies other than HTC.

XDA was founded as, and has been a site dedicated to HTC manufactured devices (my first one was my Typhoon which to this day I still sometimes use). Such devices always sported Windows Mobile (all different incarnations) so it used to be a synonym with Windows Mobile/CE/whatever. The exception being the Sony Xperia X1, I assume because of its relative relevance on the marketas well as the fact that sports Windows Mobile.
Then came Android on the HTC Dream. At this point, XDA (at least on my opinion) became the Driving Force behind the "Expert" Android OS mod as well as to the informal user support movement.
We all know that a barrage of new Android devices is coming down the pipe, not just one or two...
What do you guys think? Mods? Owners of the forum? Poll? This is a major deal (to me) and I am torn on the issue...

Assistance for improving XDA Wiki

I am interested in volunteering some time into helping to improve the XDA Wiki in order to bring a balance to the FORUM + WIKI equation. Who among this community has time (and is willing) to assist?
In addition to this post, I have brought the issue up with Dave Shaw who is the sysop of the Wiki.
ill spare some time since im always in here answering questions. I was going to ask Mr clown too make some stickies

Thanks fknfocused. If we use the Wiki properly, we can avoid having to tax Mr Clown with routine details... And, while stickies in forums are nice, they create a bottleneck since they are so tightly controlled.
I created a group for Galaxy S 4G Owners (http://forum.xda-developers.com/group.php?groupid=421) which you may be interested in. I am simply looking for ways to help us help ourselves better...

That is one problem; another is that old-timers post with a "+1" to mean they agree... I see that there is a request outstanding to add an "AGREE" button (like the "THANKS" one)...
The first thing that we need to do is to identify what information needs to be added. In the wiki, there has not been a GS4G page created yet. I've put a stub on my User page... This is one cause for all the noob questions in the fora, I am guessing. Since, at present, searches do not exist on the wiki side.
The things that are specific to the GS4G are the ROM Mods, kernel, and CWM (which, of course, is still beta)...
Announcement: New Wiki Page evolving
Now, when one searches the XDA-Developers Wiki for "Galaxy S 4G," the researcher will be directed to an emerging Wiki page about the SGS4G. Further, if one searches for "Nandroid Backup," the search engine provides a list of links:
General Reference
Specific Reference
Among other results
As stated in my previous postings here, together we can improve XDA-Developers by adding content to the Wiki which balances the content of the Fora (which are abundantly active!).
Again I ask, "Would you please help us in this venture?"
Resurect old thread.

Just putting this back at the top of the 'unread' list... maybe people will start jumping on the 'update the wiki' bandwagon.
I put some general guides on there. But what exactly should go on there?
Edit: Some user updates to this page is a pretty good place to start, I suppose.

Wait we have a WIKI? I've been around for a little while and I didn't know that. Maybe the first step would be to get the news out in a forum layout. Meaning sticky the link. Maybe put it into the subforum listing? Sounds like a great way to put all the resources available here into an easy to use format. I don't know much about how it works but if I can help let me know.

The basic wiki format is easy to learn. Just hit edit and see how the page is actually organized.
I updated the Gingerbread section on the Samsung Galaxy S 4G ROMs wiki page to place sort of a general template. I left out the ones based on leaks as they are pretty outdated.

Good to know that there has been interest in the SGS4G Wiki. And what a resource it has become!!

There's also a group for Galaxy S 4G owners...

[Q] New To Android

Hi! I just got my first Android Phone.
The HTC Inspire.
I've been told I could speed up this phone but I'm also curious to know what else I could do with it?
I used to have an iPhone and I would just change the theme and stuff...
So, I suppose my question(s) is/are;
1. How can I speed up my phone?
2. What can I do with my phone?
3. Is there a site where I can browse custom themes for my phone?
4. how do I add custom ringtones/ringback
5. What are some basic things I should get before I start modding my phone and what are some neat basic add-ons out there to make my phone look "neato"
thanks for taking the time for reading this.
Really? It's here in the forum.
Wow...really...wow. do they not still play the noob video about searching when you first sign up for the site?

Swearing is not allowed in the forums. Only warning. Now as far as the other posts. Welcome to XDA and please do read over the rules you agreed to when you joined. You are expected to search for your answers instead of opening a new thread. Before you brick your phone (make it useless and non returnable) Take a few hours and read up on the stickies. Search around some and read some more. what you are doing is nothing like the Iphone, this is real hacking. Not a simple Security override like jailbreaking. If done wrong you could end up with more problems then you can handle.

A Dream ROM

Guys what if a ROM is created which is
- based on proxuer's ROM from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1261989 (but of course a few but great modification required like BT, HTC hub, compatibility for games etc.)
- filled with animations from the ROM from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275747
- as fast as ROM from forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1271383
- and contains some great apps like File Explorer n customization options from MIUI
Think about it dear developers...

don't mean to bring down your thread but shouldn't this be in general?
Yup this is a development thread...
Plz don't post such threads here...
Even though I may agree with what you say as the posters above have already said this is a General thread topic/post/question. No offense, but it's for all of our benefit if we have a structured forum and if you were to read the sticky thread in this forum it explains this [DEV][12 SEP 11] DEV naming convention (and much more) Read before creating a thread
There is an exclamation mark in a triangle just to the right of the post # number this easily enables us to report incorrectly placed threads or any that break forum rules far easier than flaming the user (not that any one has yet) or attempting to PM the moderator to complain.
Before you all now click on it, I've done it.
This forum is one of the nicest in the sense of non-aggressive, minimal flamming and considerate users but at it grows in size and popularity it also becomes more and more messy and un-structured, it's in all of our best interests to ensure that we stick by the rules, as they're there for a reason.
Oh I'm sorry for that.. As this is developers forum, I thought It'd a knock knock their front door so easily... Anyway I'm sorry.. now what I have to do?? As I'm using a mobile, I won't be able to move it I guess... Should I delete it?? _

Visit the sgs2 forum.. my God.. its like a mess there! People always posting in the wrong place, arguing etc.
There are more useless post than helpful posts!
It's really difficult to get around too! Here in this forum, i know my way round.
I never really post there aswell, because I get subscribed to stupid spam in each thread everytime.
I'm grateful we have a neat little forum here

How to stop being a leech to the xda community?

Hey so I am pretty new to the xda forums and what not and would really like to contribute something. I'm broke too broke to donate. all I have that can be any help is an HTC one s I'm too afraid to mess with anymore and an awful computer that I am willing to use to help people on here. Any suggestions? I just want to stop being a leech and a noob.

You could start by reading up on everything related to Android development. Everyone started out as a noob, Google and these forums are your friend. If you can't donate, hit that thanks button at the bottom of the posts.
Or help answer questions in the Q&A section.

This is probably the worst comment ive read here, this is a community and a member wants to help and give a little back and your hating. If we would have more members that try and help and give something back xda would be a much better community.
To the op, theres guides on the development thread on how to develop for our devices, if you want to help you should read or you could probably pm a dev for more info, their very nice and they know a lot, could learn a lot from them.

Try and obtain knowledge about the device, how it works, how you can tell what it's doing, etc..
The ways to do this are: search and browse the forums, google outside of xda, look in your device.
Then you can either go for a specific goal, like s-off, your favorite missing feature, better battery life, etc.. and focus your searching and reading in that direction, or more opportunistically, come up with tweaks and tricks based on what you come across while dissecting the device.
At first it will seem daunting. Try and follow guides and how-to's and try to understand what they do and why that works.
As you become more familiar with how the device and related tools work, you can help out other members with their problems and questions.
Thanks for your interest in contributing.
Good hunting!
