There is but it depends on what version of the stock ROM you have, as it's no longer available on the latest versions..
What we're you intending on doing?
I'm still working on official ROM but i want a way to root my phone but unroot it when a new update to the official appears

In my opinion you're better off loading a stock based custom ROM (ie LBC) that will have the OTA update incorporated within its build soon after its released (and quite often before) along with much more additional functionality and root access.

thanks, but where can we find the changelog of this new rom ?
Great! Will give it a try.
might try this tomorrow, although I can't see it being anything major, at the end of the day its not been push OTA as an update yet. I just tried the supposedly "no blur" firmware too and there was still loads of blur on it!
it is unrootable for the moiment.
Are z4root (or other rooting methods) and tenfar's recovery working with this ROM? 'Cause someone in another topic said, that he flashed this ROM, and now he can't flash back anything older than this. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10023019&postcount=7)
And stuck with this ROM, without root and recovery, would be a huge pain in the *ss.
Edit: I think I got my answer from bihariel's post.

i don´t know, but i have the "deblured" 2.34.1 firm rooted with z4root and with the clockwork recovery working
Thanks, have installed and its a nice improvement.
Not a giant leep but more of a polish. I must be one of the few people that likes the email client in motoblur.
i aint going anywhere near this it its not rootable then - there nothing wrong with 2.21 imo. And I like the blur email app too lol
If this rom isn't rootable, doesn't that mean that the guys at motorola "fixed" the exploit, that we used, to get root access (and because of that, we need to find another exploit)?
the problem is that you can not flash any older than this and without root you can not flash custom recovery and can not restore nand backup.
if you flash older the phone wont boot.
Yep now unable get root access. Oh well
im stuck on this UK rom too! im not giving up so easy though... just need root and we are good.

i don't think so, because 2.34.1 central europe firm, wich also was uploaded today, is rootable and keeps clockwork mod recovery working

I´ve just flashed back from 2.34.1 to 2.21.0 with no major problem.
Looks like 2.51.1 UK comes with a secret within.

Hi all, I just get my Nexus S and gonna root it.
I'm not sure if rooted Nexus S can get OTA updates in the future? (Just rooting, without ROM flashing)
U will still be able to get updates as long as u dont flash any custom roms but u will probably lose root an have to reroot it. Thats what happened to me when i got the ota for 2.3.1
yup, you'll get all the updates, you'll just loose root after every update.

Just in case this is where you are coming from OP before your Nexus S (like me), it's similar to an iOS jailbreak where you jailbreak it, then a new update comes along and you loose the jailbreak when you upgrade.
But I don't even know if you had an iOS device Just thought I'd add this in
I just got a notification on my phone about a new moto software update. Will it make it harder for my to flash, root, or mod my phone?
Everything is still stock on the phone i havent done any mods yet
The official bootloader unlock should work regardless, so no if you don't mind doing the official unlock method.
I've heard the exploit to get root without the official unlock has been closed, but I think someone else said they found a way around it. I don't know either way, I officially unlocked the device the day I got it
Is there a new update? post/after asa14?
Checked around but after seeing the old do this if you cant upgrade threads pop up I was curious.
Seen some traces of the 9.8.2Q JellyBean update for the Q, but don't know it's current status.
Interesting and good news, Just checked and mine stated not update available sadly..

Yeah, the motofail2go exploit to root works only if you haven't updated. After rooting, you can save root by Voodoo OTA rootkeeper, temp unroot, install any updates, then restore root with OTA rootkeeper. Works great, and you keep your warranty. But of course you can't flash any ROMs or anything, but you can still use Titanium backup, other programs that require root.

Hey guys, i own a Vodafone Smart Tab 4, and google gives no awnser to my question: how do i root it? It would be awesome If anybody can help me.

If you are on 4.2.2 then you can use framaroot (Choose barahir option if I remember correctly)
If you have updated to the latest update I am unsure what will root. I am still trying. Towel root does not work, I have tried changing the parameters but no luck yet.

Framaroot will not remove the stock firmware, just use it to root and you will still be on stock.

Thanks for the replay.
I know that, but from what I have read, after the root You might have update problem, so it is best to have the stock image just in case I will have to flash it.

No problem at all. On one of my devices I had rooted it and still updated to 4.4.4 without a hassle. However, I could not root it on that FW yet.
I updated to the latest version a few weeks ago, I am on 4.4.4 SU6-7.7. I am wondering if there is any possible root methods working for this update, or do I need to flash my device to a lower firmware then go from there?
did you get this done?? I'm working same issue.

Nope... I honestly doubt I will EVER get to find a root my phone. According to some people, it's nearly impossible.
I also gave up, is there a way to use xposed without root?
Never update...
Just do what everyone else does.. Download KingRoot app and keep checking back momentarily. No root = NO XPOSED
Download SunShine from theroot.ninja and check eligibility. If compatible, pay $25 - or not. Good luck to you
