Possible root for my XT1080? - Droid Ultra Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated to the latest version a few weeks ago, I am on 4.4.4 SU6-7.7. I am wondering if there is any possible root methods working for this update, or do I need to flash my device to a lower firmware then go from there?

did you get this done?? I'm working same issue.

Nope... I honestly doubt I will EVER get to find a root my phone. According to some people, it's nearly impossible.

I also gave up, is there a way to use xposed without root?

Never update...
Just do what everyone else does.. Download KingRoot app and keep checking back momentarily. No root = NO XPOSED
Download SunShine from theroot.ninja and check eligibility. If compatible, pay $25 - or not. Good luck to you

[Q] Root Failure (All Methods Attempted) FIXED :D

Heres the issue. I am no noob at this whatsoever and have tried EVERYTHING. I have used every program I could find to attempt root and none can seem to gain root access. The install SuperUser or SuperSU and every time root fails even if said app is installed. Please help Im doing a talk on August 20th that I NEED this device for. All help appreciated. Thanks!
Im slightly confused as your sig says rooted stock
But anyway I recently got myself a Razr HD and I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2241788 to root and unlock bootloader
My device was 4.1.2 and I did not want to downgrade but this one worked :victory:
More info needed. Is your bootloader unlocked? If not, which firmware are you on?

Thank you, I think I may have worked out my issue! I was using 1.2 of that program. I think thats why. Let me give this a go
Tried again with this guy and still got failure. I always get this:
[*]This May Take A Few Minutes
[-]Failure
Ok well what do you know. 3rd times the charm eh? I tried a third time this time after reflashing stock firmware, antennas, etc... Thanks!

Thanks haha xD Coming from a Galaxy Nexus GSM Dev Edition, this is oddly restraining. There seem to be only a few ROMs available for this device.
Quality is better than quantity

[Q] AT&T Note Pro

I've been looking around and it seems there isn't a lot we can do with the AT&T Note Pro? I've rooted and let SuperSU disable KNOX for me. Should I just go ahead and start debloating via TiBU or is there more that I can do? Thanks!
EDIT: Also if I install the newest update for it can I still root?
Well, it seems I may not be able to root after updating. Even after getting the PRO version of SuperSU and checking the box to try and get root to survive, I have lost root. Also now Towelroot says my device is no longer supported. I know I read of another root method, so I will try that and report back.

Well the other root method (CF-AutoRoot) isn't compatible with the P907A. So... can anyone give me some guidance on how to revert to an older firmware. I'm sure it's possible I just haven't ever had to do it, so I don't really know how.

Marshall London root?

Hey guys,
I really don't know where to ask this since this phone doesn't have a forum or anything - at least that I know of. If there is one I am glad if you can point me to it.
So, is there any way to root this device? I only bought it as a second phone for listening to music but I'd really like to root it, so, do you know anyhting?

Thanks for reporting. Hoping for a root option before pulling the trigger...

not any news on this? i would love to root this phone and have a custom firmware. mine is full of bugs thats make it useless as a phone and camera, the only good thing about mine is the sound!
Me too want to root this phone, anyone know? Kingoroot & King Root cant root. After failed to root, it popup to ask them for help. It's around 150+ people already interested to root this phone.
This was essential for me. I have given up on purchasing this device. Based on monitoring the support page, it also seems the manufacturer is slow to develop updates. This device is starting to look like a manufacturer's experiment. I hope they do create an updated device and open to the US market...
Edit: Typo

Is there already an option for rooting because there has been a software update but KingRoot doesn't work
If I were you, I'd try to flash root binaries via the recovery menu. Keep in mind, that I don't have that phone. If that fails, you can wait for the custom recovery and you can try to install binaries from there. Keep me updated.

Yes it is extremely slow development on this phone, since i did get it at the release there have been like 4-5 updates and none major update just some bugfixes that actually made the phone worse.
The support at MP is good fast answers but their not that good at helping you, they basically just copy&paste a standard Q&A.
My phone does stop vibrate occasionally, notification led is only functional sometimes, random reboots, Led flash is unusable on taking photos it does blend the lens so photos get almost black and some minor bugs, did contact support about this and they was not able to do anything due to that this is a gift from them. I had to pay for a shipping and repair myself.
I was hoping for root and custom rom, but as it seems that it will never happen i have an nice looking paperweight.

A custom rom might be a stretch due to the unique nature of the device, closed source code for the DAC, among other things. I have had trouble finding source code for this device, using code from similar devices tend to run into kernel panic issues.
I am working on a way to have flashable system images and a custom recovery on this device... and also a way to return the device completely to stock. The good news is that once you have binaries, you can use Fastboot to restore partitions. I have been able to re-flash experimental recovery builds with the original without any issue. No need to unlock or root.
And yes, root is possible. Kingoroot worked for me and I was able to successfully remove Kingo for SuperSU using the built in root swap tool in SuperSU.
I plan on starting a new thread for everything that I have for the Marshall London when I have everything working. Root, recovery, flashable ZIPs and stock images.
It may not be a device that is widely used but it definitely has a niche. I use it exclusively as an MP3 player because of its amazing sound. I also will be using it as a travel phone when I go to Europe. Shame the phone didn't find a larger market or even make it to North America because it's a very unique phone.

Also, if that doesn't work, give this a try: http://reviewroots.com/root-Oppo-F1-with-or-without-pc
Plus, could you give me your thoughts on the battery life? I am on the edge of buying this phone or the moto 3rd gen and the battery life is the only thing holding me back.

I had tried "Kingroot" and "Framaroot" two days ago. Both of them don't work for F1.
Anyway,thanks for your sharing.:highfive:
There is no working root for Oppo F1 at the moment. Safe rooting methods are not available. The bootloader is locked and fastboot has been disabled.
I'd be very careful about trying to use one click app solutions for attempting to root the device, if you can get them to work. They are responsible for suspicious behavior, such as downloading stuff and installing their own root manager. Beware.
No hope
I tired everything, kingroot, Framaroot, oppo tool, Kingoroot no hope ?
Someone please find a way to root this phone

nice :good:
perhaps you can give us more clues :
1. does we need unlock bootloader / not ?
2. it need flashing from recovery (or even flash custom recovery) or only just an apk ?
this is interesting :highfive:
Has anyone tried TowelRoot?
Please help us root this device!
Thank you guys so much!
would using adb and remounting everything manually work? or downloading a firmware update and modding that
It will be much like my Find 7. Need to unlock bootloader to install TWRP recovery so you can flash SuperSU.
The trick is having an unlocked bootloader in the first place. The Find 7 wasn't a problem. Oppo didn't try to lock the user out.
I have an F1 here for my wife. Will root it once a developer has the exploits developed, tested and released to public. Just have to be patient and don't rush in doing risky experiments.
Try changing the launcher so it has a better UI for the daily stuff. ColorOS launcher is a PITA.

lol. uh no.
1: you can't remount system as /rw on a user build (only engineering/userdebug).
2: I think you mean a OTA update for system. Both the firmware and system are signed. You can't just do that.
You can use CVE-2015-1805. I got root via a kernel vuln, then exploited the bootloader to unlock it

Mini on 4.4.4 and SU4.21 can I root or unlock? edit: Yes and was so simple a caveman

This quote is from the crash root thread, my mini is on SU4.21 screen shot of status below, if I can unlock or get root and bypass the hotspot block unlimited data please provide a link to the thread that explains how to to it, thanks!
_ck_ said:
By the way if it is not clear to newbies, if you are fortunate enough to get a phone with SU4.21 instead of SU6-x, do NOT, I repeat do NOT flash VZW-4.4.4-SU6-7-release-keys.xml
Because then you are taking a valuable phone that can unlock the bootloader and forcing it to upgrade and it can never be downgraded again to SU4 from SU6
ie. the SU6 cannot unlock bootloader at this time, the SU4 can via sunshine
you CAN root the SU4 but it is using a different file than in this thread

This is a screen of my new droid mini, when I run sunshine it passes but tries to temp root and just reboots, never gets past rebooting. Can you link to the info on unlocking SU4.21 you mention please? Thank you

Kingroot did the trick, and I used an app that I have on my moto x to bypass the hotspot block, also froze the ota app so it wont update. All is fine without unlocking it, but when it reboots the root is gone and I need to rerun kingroot, is this the way kingroot works, or should it maintain root through a reboot? Im not sure I like the idea of leaving kingroot on the phone, I will probably unlock it with sunshine and do a factory reset and try rooting it a permanent way, thats something I've never done before, I mean install a custom rom and root that way. Do I need to install a custom rom in order to root permanently? Id rather not do that, but if its the only way than I will attempt it.
Thanks

No if you use sunshine then u can perment root without installing a custom ROM I know on my droid turbo after I installed twrp and ran it the first time it will ask you first thing if you want to root swip yes and it's done permently I assume it's the same way with the mini
