Hey All,
I purchased a Samsung OEM car dock from the AT&T store for the Infuse, and after about a day, the charging stopped. The dock is recognized, as the infuse goes into car mode, but no chargning. I played around with some car dock apps, such as car home, samsung car home & the car home widget, so I'm wondering if I accidentally changed a setting somewhere to prevent charging when docked. Any suggestions?
Cheers,
Maciek

The only problem I've had is that sometimes it takes a while to detect the charger.
What I have noticed is that with the Froyo kernels (e.g. stock AT&T Infuse firmware), if you placed the Infuse in the dock and slid the dock lock closed, and then turned on vehicle power AFTER the Infuse was in dock mode, charger power would be detected immediately.
Also, the stock car chargers from AT&T suck.
Strange...I'll see what happens when I turn the car on after sliding the dock closed. I'm running 2.3.3 though...

That's really odd then - they revamped charge detection in GB kernels such that in my experience, chargers are always detected immediately.
I was able to get my hands on another dock to test out whether it's the dock or the phone. Seems like the dock connector on my dock is broken, as when I plugin to another dock (one for a samsung galaxy sII), Charging starts right away. The crappy part is that since I live in Canada, I can't even exchange the dock w AT&T, unless I drive to detroit (which is 3 hours away). I wonder if AT&T ships to Canada :S

Hey all, lurked here a lot lately with all the Froyo news, relative newcomer to posting here though.
I've got both the Google desktop dock and the Google car dock, but I hate how the Nexus One can fall out of the desktop dock just by bumping it lightly, or breathing on it, or looking at it cross-eyed, etc.
I'm thinking about ordering a second car dock to use a desktop dock, but curious whether plugging the base into a PC will draw enough current to charge the Nexus One or not. I know the car charger draws 2A for a quick charge, but I didn't think a typical USB cable could draw that much amperage from a PC. I'd guess that since the regular Nexus One wall charger only draws 1A, that a typical USB plug would suffice to at least act as a wall charger throughout the day...
Anyone out there doing this? Anyone got any advice either way? Or know of a rotating desktop dock that can fit a Nexus One that leaves the bottom exposed to plug in a micro USB cable?

im not sure of what the effects would be..... but i do recall reading somewhere in the literature that came with my car dock warning against plugging the dock into the computer. pretty sure it was an issue with syncing or some crap like that. will it actually hurt it, i wouldn't think so. just making it known that it was warned against and that you might wanna double check the paperwork before you tried it. if i was to do as you suggested, id find another wall adapter. i would think that the one from the desktop dock you purchased would likely work.
or you could keep your current dock and simply find some weight to glue to the bottom of it or something. i'm sure something fairly easy could be done to make it heavier/more stable.
just my $.02
I've used wall warts from other devices to power my car dock in the house. As long as they have a mini-usb port to fit the dock you should be fine.
Will the clock feature from the desktop dock work with the car dock?

No, the third pin that connects to the phone sends some sort of signal that tells the phone which dock you're using. I love my car dock, just when it's not powered. I can charge the phone later, with a charger that wont make my phone red hot.
I have thought about using the car dock at my desk, just because I can use my phone and not lose the charging connection. And yes, I have used the 5v wall wart from the desktop dock and it powers the car dock just fine, and imagine that, it doesn't over heat either.
I am not using my 12v adapter that came with the car dock ever again. just plugged directly into the phone made the thing super hot after a few minutes. sorry to get off topic.
I believe that you should be able to use something like docklauncher to switch the behavior associated with each dock. No personal experience to back up this belief though
Hi!
Since I have my DHD in my new bought dock my phone acts weird when it is connected to the dock. Random progs pop up. Sure I didnt touch the screen nor shake at the table. Once it went even to the market and installed almost an app!!!
I ebayed it from HongKong - I assumed that this is a random bug not a hack from China, but I'm not sure. Must be sumething, but what the hell
Be warned
I had the same problem, it turned out to be the charger I was using that caused it. Once I started using the official charger out of the box it worked fine.
Have you checked your phone docking settings and sure that you have not set it to do them things when docked?
Theres a guy on youtube that shows how cheap chargers affect the touch screen of his HTC Desire:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpDyMykRH9M
Prehaps this is what you are experiencing?
That's exactly what was happening to me, I'm sticking with the official charger now.

Could you share with us which docking station you bought and from where so that we don't buy the same?
It doesn't matter which dock you buy it depends on which charger you use. The dock I bought is working fine now that its plugged into the proper HTC charger from the DHD box, before that I used one of those generic USB chargers and that caused the problem. The docks themselves are really just 'glorified' USB cables so they shouldn't cause problems so long as you stick with the proper charger.
So was away over the weekend and had my TF-101 with me along with the charger.
Tried charging the TF-101 via a standard plug converter (TF-101 has a standard UK three pin, while I was in a country that had two pin). Tried all combinations (with keyboard attached, just the keyboard and just the tablet) but it wasn't showing as charging.
Now this could be a bit of a problem. Is this a known issue? Is there a way round it, short of getting a separate charger for when visiting foreign countries? Would it just drip charge if I had left it?
Also, do any of these battery juice / power packs that are around in the market work with the TF-101 or are we just limited to a wall charger?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
Hmmm... That is a little strange, I am deployed in Afghanistan right now and I have charged my tab in all countries in between (various airports and tents powered by generators) from 110~220 and besides adapters, I have plugged in and charged just fine.
I am starting to have issues with the cable showing signs of wear and possible fraying, but the only thing that showed my TF101 not charging was one iffy ROM. Are you on stock or have you flashed another ROM?
Right now I am testing CM9 with Cornerstone and one thing I have noticed is that when docked, it constantly shows as if it is charging even when the battery is not full which I never noticed on stock or revolver ROMs.
My TF101 has been half way around the world and i've never had a problem charging it. Try rotating the plug. It has charged in Canada, Taiwan Hong kong, shenzen, and indonesia with no problems. the onlyissue i had was that the dock would vibrate when i plugged it in sometimes but that was fixed by rotating the plug to switch the polarity.
edit: the battery shows charging because it is drawing power from the dock. revolver is basically a suped up stock rom so it would show the proper indicators. CM9 is a custom build so it it built from CM9 source and adapted to the tf101.

Sorry if this has already been posted. I have the Note 4 and I am new to wireless charging. I wanted a car solution that's completely wireless (ie charging and audio). I've been looking at The Air Dock but I'm still not sure if that will be the best solution. Does anyone have any experience with that?
Also, I'm thinking that I will go with an internal receiver but I just read that there are 1mm thick ones and 0.5mm thick ones. Guess I should try to get a 0.5mm thick receiver? What is the max current that I can get with these coils? Is it enough to charge the phone while running Google Maps, Pandora, bluetooth, etc?
I will probably want a case as well. What do I need to know so that it will work with a wireless charger? I saw some car chargers that have you put a slim metal plate in your case so that magnets can hold onto the phone, which I like. Should I look for something like this? Will that also work with The Air Dock?
Sorry about all the questions! I'm just trying to make sure I get the best dock for my phone.

Just a suggestion, wireless charging is not capable of taking advantage of the Quick Charge 2.0 feature and to my way of thinking the car would be the place you'd want the fast charging. I got an Incipio Quick Charge 2.0 12v adapter for my car.

Thanks for the suggestion but I was wondering if it was possible to wireless charge and still run all these apps. I understand it won't be a quick charge or anything but as long as the charge is enough to keep the battery at neutral or positive charge then that's fine. I would assume the answer is yes

With my Note 3, a 2 amp wired charger was barely able to charge with Google Navigation running. I think you would lose charge doing the same thing with a wireless charger.

Dang I was worried about that. So what is the max current that wireless coils can do? Is it 1 amp?

Agreed. Current wireless charging probably wouldn't be able to keep up with the high battery demands of navigation, streaming music, Bluetooth, and the screen.
Trouble with Note 4
So I got my new Air Dock 2.0 in and I'm having trouble with getting the Note 4 to stick with this case even though it's glossy. Also, (and I knew this would be an issue, ugh!) the wireless adapter inside the phone isn't CENTERED in the phone so of course it won't wireless charge when the phone is CENTERED on the Air Dock!! This makes me so mad! The damn adapters should be centered so any dock will work once the phone is centered...
Lastly, does anybody have any apps that will automatically launch once connected to the Air Dock??

Tasker can do this.
Ok but how can I trigger it in the car? If I use wireless triggers won't it also trigger it when I get home and charge my phone on my wireless charger?

I am looking for something fairly specific: a magnetic/sticky cd slot mount with wireless charging. Does anyone know if they exist and if so any recommendations?

are you using it with the samsung wireless charging back? if so, any chance of some pics? also, are you using the nano-foam or magnets and for either, how "grippy" is it? the roads around me are full of potholes so cant have my note 4 flying off.
Ugh so I'm frustrated with the Air Dock. It's GREAT with my Nexus 5...it seems to be designed especially for that. My wife's Note 4? Not so much. I bought the wireless adapter that you put in the back of the phone to activate wireless charging but it takes all of 1 second to realize the coil inside that adapter is not centered with the phone. It's directly over the battery which is offset. So when the phone is put on the Air Dock it needs to be slightly off of the Air Dock to get a good charge going. Well this means there's less contact between the phone and Air Dock. The other thing I noticed is the case on the phone matters as well. Originally I had a softer, flat case on the phone which worked okay with the Air Dock but then that got dirty so my wife got a more glossy one that has a slight curve in the back. I think this may actually be caused a little by the wireless adapter protruding in the back. It's a very tight case so it's more noticeable. I can provide links to the cases if you want. I emailed the Air Dock with a picture of the phone's wireless adapter but they just said to try to use the magnetic sticker included and keep it clean. The magnetic sticker doesn't do much, especially for a big phone like the Note 4. I'm tempted to actually cut a really thin sheet of metal and stick it back there instead. Sorry this is long but I'm frustrated and ended up buying the iBolt dock for my wife which is fine but I really wanted to use the Air Dock. It's a great concept it's just not the best design. I even had my friend 3D print a sort of dock and then stuffed those super powerful magnets in it and it sort of worked but then it blocked the charging too much. Ugh
I use a wireless charger/mount in my car when driving and I notice that when using Waze or any other apps that the touchscreen is not very responsive. As soon as I remove it from the charger, everything is fine. Has anyone else had any similar issues?

No, the one I have doesn't use a magnet, it has two arms on the side that clamp down on it. I never had this issue with any other Galaxy phone, even the S20 Ultra didn't have this problem.
Likewise, I found my screen to be unresponsive when I'm charging.
I'm using the factory charger with SD865+.
I noticed it when I was playing game while charging. It was fine when I just got my phone. But right now I seem to have this issue and it kinda bothers me.
Help needed as well
sounds like its the charger you are using? i wireless charge exclusively and have zero issues. obviously the only way to rule out the wireless car charger is to try a different brand/model.
my car has a wireless charging pad built in and i can use the phone whilst its on the pad.

I'm not using the wireless charger, wired charger though.
gotchu.
i guess my point is im using 3 different wireless charging devices, and two wired options (45 watt samsung brick and this guy, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B082SV4J38/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) when im at the office and im not having the issue. im also using aftermarket USB-IF certified cables, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07S2PCVGB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1, and no issues such as what the OP describes.
could be a grounding issue or issue with the charger itself. trying different chargers and see if its located to a specific charger or your device.
i also use the fold 2 on these devices and it also behaves normally.
