I have two problems with my XT720
First: When I answer a call it goes dead, or enter into call waiting. To solve the problem I have to remove the battery and put back. Is there a way to solve this?
Second, the phone restarts several times during the day. Strange that sometimes he spends hours without rebooting, but after restart up to three times in a row.
If you can help me solve these problems I appreciate it. I'm using the 2.2 rom Froyo by Dexter's.
What are you overclocked at?
Edit:::I am off for the night but in short if your overclocked above stock frequency then your vsels need to be ramped up too. So if you are OC'd at 1000 and your vsels are only at 54, then they are too low and you'll get random reboots. If you are OC'd at 1000 and your vsels are at 80 then you'll just waste your battery.
Vsels too low = random reboots. Good standard OC is 1000/66, I have mine at 1100/74 but use Set CPU. LibertyMonger was using his at 1200/80 but he has since moved his around. Hope this helps.
I do not use overclocking..
Hi
Never had this happen but phone is acting I usually do a hardreset.

Sometimes reflashing the ROM without data/factory reset will fix it. Everything should still be intact they way you have it. Just restore the Dexter Nandroid then wipe dalvik and cache. NO Data/factory reset. Also I have found it is due to the sd card Have you Partitioned your sd card? See if it acts the same when you run it without the sdcard maybe. If that's it reformat and/or repartion. Make sure to back everything up.

I must have screwed something up as my phone is stuck in some sort of power cycle. Everything seemed to be working fine including several restarts after doing configurations and learning how the LCD density works. I do a shutdown of the phone I see the shutdown animation, but the screen still has the backlight on. It never seemed to actually shutdown so I hit the power button and the screen goes out. I go to boot into recovery to create a backup of my settings and like a moron i didn't delete the MR2 upgrade. I answered no to the install up the upgrade and reboot the phone. This is when the power cycles actually started I see no signal, 1x the phone locks up then restarts. I reflashed the radio in case it become corrupted and no change. I cleared the cache and the Dalvik to see if that would work NOPE now it's stuck on the DAS BAMF the baddest! boot screen. I did install the latest dreamkernal for the bluetooth options. Other than starting to install apps I can't think of what I may have done to do this. I don't have a problem reflashing, but I hate to cause this problem again. I did wipe 4x the factory, cache, Dalvik before flashing the rom and verified the md5. I know it's probably not possible without knowing exactly what I did, but any ideas or suggestions?
You've got wiping data/cache/dalvik/bat stats covered. I think 4 times is overkill, but certainly not hurting anything.
When you flash a ROM, are you flashing anything else....other mods, etc., before letting the phone restart?
Do you have a good radio? Try MR2 if you're not already, some have reported bugs or issues with MR2.5.
Check the md5 of both the ROM and Radio.
I would try to shut down the phone then pull the battery then boot bootloader and reinstall radio. If that don't work I would try a full wipe and reinstall

I flashed the latest dream kernel after flashing bamf and using MR2 verified MD5 before flashing. I did try a battery pull as I had to remove the sd card to delete the radio in order to go in recovery. I did do a reflash since i would have to anyway. I was just trying to figure out what I did wrong in my configuration and I think I did. When I turned the phone off I thought something was wrong since it looked like the backlight was still on. I think I corrupted something during shutdown that caused the problem. I noticed the phone seems to take a little longer to shutdown then with the rooted stock. I'm paying better attention so we will see. Probably all just human error
I also changed my min speed to 368 since i read some phones don't like 245. However I am not sure what the best Governor is to use so I left it with the interactiveX defaults.
Can you restore from a backup?

AFAIK all phone run fine at 245, its the 184 that doesn't play nice with some phones. Also turn off fast boot in the Settings>Applications menu, some people seem to have random problems when that is turned on.
I was in the process of trying to make a backup when something broke. It was actually easier to start over because then I could go setting by setting to see what I did wrong. I think it was just how I shut it down that fubar the whole darn thing. It seems to be working correctly now and I created a backup as well.
184 not 245 gotcha and thanks! That could save some battery life I would assume. No matter how well built there is still a better idiot!
I've been using my SR for a week now and initially I had QuickWiz ROM installed but after getting some SOD, I switched to TPC ROM which worked great for few days as well but lately I have started getting random reboots that I have not been able to pinpoint the cause for.
I reinstalled TPC rom and then immediately got a reboot. After restarting the phone, it worked for few mins and then rebooted again. At this point, I reinstalled QuickWiz and just within an hour, I have already gotten two reboots.
Any suggestion what might be causing it? Could it be hardware related?
You might try flashing the stock 2.3.5 or 2.3.6 ROM and KERNEL and see if random reboot problem goes away... then you'll know it's not a hardware issue. Check the Development section and read carefully... probably need to clear cache/data multiple times.

I ODIN back to stock yesterday and everything worked for until today when I got the reboot when opening email which leads me to believe that there is a hardware problem somewhere. I have already gone through three different ROMS (including stock) and I always get random reboots sooner or later.
So do you now have 3e recovery... or is CWM Recovery still your recovery partition? From what I've read, you need to clear data and clear cache up to 3 times each from 3e recovery.

I had the same problem and was really confused and then I think I figured the problem out. Do you have one of those thin leather mobile phone cases that attach to your belt? I notice when I put my brand new SR in my case that I purchase that when it moves even just a little bit it will push down on my power button and shut it off and back on. Is there any chance that is happening. I know it sounds stupid but I does happen to me.

Nope, that was not the case because my phone was rebooting either when I was on call or even when it was just sitting on the table.
I had two reboots last night. Both times, I was On the phone using headphones and phone was plugged into a charger.
It seems to reboot if It's plugged in and am on the phone at the same time. It does get pretty warm.
WTF.
I have been having the same issue with my Skyrocket. I am also using TPC v3 ROM, haven't tried to put the stock rom yet, but one thing for sure that this problem is not persistent.
When this problem start, my phone keep restarting for at least 5-10 times and it doesn't allow you to do anything in between. Once it starts working you won't see the booting issue again.
Hi,
Got my phone a week back..The problem started to occur a few days ago,my phone started to freeze often.Touchscreen stopped responding.I had to remove the battery n boot to get the phone working again.
I look forward to seeing your replies. Please feel free to ask me further details . Happy New Year. Thanks in advance
Have you tried calling the fone when this happens? I'm interested if this is the same problem as with mine....
I've also had the touchscreen freeze out a couple of times but that's usually after an app has crashed or I've stressed the system, I find that locking then unlocking the scren brings it back to life

I don't want to be a negative person here but mine started like that, I though it was just because the system was running too many apps or I haven't freed the ram. It's now shutting off by itself.
I hope yours don't progress to my problem.
Such a nice fone but these problems make me think otherwise.
Have u found out any solutions .

I thought ^ was one of the GB's features. shuts down rogue or non responsive apps.
@venkatraman did u try factory reset??
take a backup from CWM if you havent already and make a reset from there...
Tell me if that works...if doesnt that clear all the Ram from Task Manager

I already factory reset by pressing vol up+power then middle button. The thing is, my problem is not really freezing screen but auto shutdown.

Factory reset didnt help either..It works for a while and the problem repeats all over again
A phone with this much memory and dual core CPU shouldn't behave like this.
sometimes when you move your finger to the screen as close as possible without touching though...it can cause freezings.
I had the same problem. Initially the phone used to freeze and I used to remove and replace the battery again. But then the phone started crashing and it reached a point today where the phone would freeze upon booting at Samsung screen. I held the VolumeUP+Home button while booting and did a "Wipe cache" and its been working fine since.
Cheers!
Yep, it seems a common issue. Mine does the same. I haven't flashed any custom ROMs or kernel after I got it from service just to see if it was the problem. But it started shutting down by itself a couple of days ago with increasing frequency. I removed all recently added apps + juice defender and others that may be messing with the hardware with no change.
P.S. I have to take out and replace the battery to restart it, and there is always a battery drain afterwards.
Hi,
After I did a 'wipe cache' in recovery, my phone didnt crash for one full day. Now again it has started crashing at random.
Kindly note that its been 2 months since i bought the phone and there were no problems with it.. But few days back there was not power and hence my mobile got switched off due to battery drain.. And from the next day onwards this problem has started.
Any of you guys think its a battery issue? - battery calibration issue perhaps? Should i perform a 'wipe battery stats' in recovery?
Kindly advice.
Thanks.
Didn't work for me, I wiped dalvik cache and battery stats and it worked fine for a couple of days, but then i shut down again. I'm going for factory reset next.
BTW mine shuts down only when the screen is off, never while I'm using it.
@reymysterio7 do you get battery drain after?
Yeah mate. There was significant battery drain. Right now I've done a factory reset-flashed 2.3.6 austria-flashed titanium v2.1-wipe cache/dalvik cache-wipe battery stats. Keeping my fingers crossed

UPDATE : My phone started its random shut downs again. But one thing Ive figured for sure is that it happens only when the network signal is low or fluctuating.

no need to clear the dalvik cache, just clear the cache and do factor rest it may help you and check the recent application which you have installed and remove them..

Yeah i was using go launcher.. Now ive formatted everything.. including usb memory... and flashed stock firmware I9103XWKI5.. Its as good as a new 1st day phone now... Even now if it shutsdown then its definitely not a software issue..

It shut down again - When signal became low!! - When i rebooted, again it shutdown while connecting to network. I removed sim and booted it worked fine. Then i went outdoors and booted with sim, it did not shutdown.
It definitely not a software issue coz I had formatted EVERYTHING and the phone was as good as new. Its not battery issue coz phone does not have issues without sim inserted. Its either hardware (motherboard probably) or SIM card problem.. I'm gonna get a new sim on monday and check it.. This sucks!!!
UPDATE : I tried with other sim - it still shutdown after 10 mins I used my present sim on a S2 and it worked fine...
UPDATE - ISSUE RESOLVED : I took it to the service center, the issue was a faulty USB connector. They replaced it and the issue seems to have been resolved. For more have a look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24263158#post24263158
Hi everyone, I've got a Nexus S 4g, SPH-D720.
This is the second time this happened to me: my phone's battery reached 0% and turned off, I turned it back on after plugging it in, and it turned off again for some reason. Tried to turn it back on, got stuck in a bootloop.
(I was running Apex 1.1.2 at the time that this happened, but it has happened before when I was on CM 9 v4.0 as well. The first time, I was using a calibrator app that told me I had more battery left than my phoen was displaying, so after it powered off I took the battery out and put it back in multiple times to see if the phone would turn on. It didn't. However, I did not do that this time, but the same thing happened.)
I tried clearing cache and flashing the same rom over the current one, but the loop persisted, and the only way to get my phone back was to do a data wipe/factory restore and reinstall everything from scratch.
The first time this happened, I had last backed my app up via Titanium 2 days prior. After the first time, I set Titanium to make backups every night, so the only thing I lost were a few text messages.
Now, I'm afraid to turn my phone if the battery dies in case this happens again and I have to erase everything. Is there any way I can figure out what the problem is? I suspect it is the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery (v 5.8.0.2), but has anyone else had this issue?
I appreciate you taking your time to read all the way through this.
What setting do you have cpu at? If its set too high your system cant handle the boot process correctly. If theres no power to handle the load itll reset itself. Wait until you get at least a solid bar or completely full and start your phone. Dont trust apps to properly tell you your battery percentage.

I forgot to add. The recovery is not causing the problem it has to do with battery and/ or rom/ kernel. And its not good for battery to constantly be run to zero. Thats why theres a warning to plug your phone in at a certain percentage.

Processor is set to 100 min 1200 max. Yeah, I did have the same kernel so that's probably it. I'll try not to turn my phone on until it's charged while off. Thanks!
(btw, the "app" I was using was a battery calibrator script)
Your welcome and i was having issues the same way and turned off set on boot and it didnt happen again. Some of these phones are touchy! im sure you know about scripting if you did it! Lol

Hi guys. So basically I was using ARHD on my Sensation and all was well. I was using the ROM
for weeks then one day the phone randomly just switched off. Since then (about 2 weeks ago) my
phone has been doing this at least 4 times a day, sometimes I would be on 80%, it would turn off,
then once I rebooted it it goes down to like 20% (A couple of reboots fixed the issue.) I have calibrated the battery,
but still these issues persist. I have downgraded the firmware from 3.33 to 3.32. Same problem. I've done fresh installs of
ROMs using both firmwares yet still the problem persists, I've even tried restoring some backups but that hasn't
helped either. I think that in the past 2 weeks, I have only been able to go from a full charge to about 5% twice without it rebooting.
Thanks for the help guys.
How old is your sensation? A number of other users have solved their rebooting issues by placing a small piece of card in the top of the battery housing to ensure a tight fit. Simply a problem with the battery not fitting as well as it did when new as the contacts degrade.
Give that a try since it's pretty easy, best to rule out the simple stuff first
Same problem
Same problem here, even with the card. Taking out the battery doesn't fix the problem, but it does when you take out the SIM card and microSD too... if only for a few minutes. Also noticed overheating issues, even when clocked at 810MHz running JB :/
Ideas???
Which kernel are you using? Do you Undervolt (UV)? If you do, then try not to UV and see if the phone becomes more stable.
Random reboot is the rom's or the corrupt firmware's fault, and don't mess with your processor voltage. You can overclock but without under/overvolt.
I'm using Team Venom's ViperS rom, overclocked to 1.7 GHz and never rebooted

It could also be a battery problem, have you recently bought a new battery (Anker, Saner..)?
